Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Ogre and the Troll. Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I don't own Slime Diaries, 8 bit and Shosetsuka do.
Hathen only crossed his arms as he stared ahead with interest. He started to think of the plans moving forward. He wanted to return to his people and see if they were alright… Still? His people were not financially situated in life. Their ways were old, they constantly wanted to trade pragmatic jobs for tradition. He respected it to a degree, but he wanted to move forward.
"They constantly fight others for their power, yet they don't want to focus on their fights," Hathen stated with an annoyed frown. "Power and conquest are not the keys to a happy future," Hathen added while he shook his head.
He wondered if they cared he had left to deal with other issues. They probably didn't consider his people had other worries on their brains. If his people were at all scared? They'd have sent someone to deal with this.
"Something bothering you?" Hathen heard as he blinked before he started to look over his shoulder.
"No. simply wondering what the hell my people are so blasted stubborn," Hathen stated while he cleared his throat. "There's been plenty of issues my people had when I was still around. They had plenty of trading deals and military orders they were still hung upon." Hathen put in before he crossed his arms.
The man from before said nothing as he started to tap his fingers on his arms. He started to lead Hathen away from the area where he was looking at the wall. He was entirely happy to hire a mercenary who could turn their business around. He cleared his throat before he started to talk to his friend.
"There's plenty of soldiers in our group." Hathen heard from the soldier as he slowly rested his hands behind his back. "I think our soldiers will be happy to see someone of your caliber. It is pretty unique to employ someone from another part of the world. One whom is pretty powerful when it comes to these sorts of issues." Hathen heard while he cleared his throat.
"If there's more danger?" Hathen stated while he tapped his fingers on his arms. "If it was that easy? I'd deal with it as best I can. I cannot promise anything more or less." Hathen added while he frowned to himself.
If there was more damage done to their forces at this moment? it might cause them to collapse as an organization. Hathen wasn't stupid enough to trust them openly and without a plan, if they went back on their offers.
'A fool blindly trusts and I am no fool to anyone.' Hathen added to himself mentally as he waited for them to continue their plans and schemes, he wished to understand at the end of the day.
He was answered a few minutes later. The soldier cleared their throats and started to speak once more with the vigor of a soldier who had been on other missions before this. Hathen chuckled to himself and felt no real danger at the moment to himself. It didn't at all feel like this was a meeting for hired soldiers or anything along those lines.
Still? There was indeed something off about this place and its people. They were warriors, yet they didn't conduct themselves as warriors who seemed capable of that sort of thing. Hathen almost wondered if he'd change because of this sort of thing at the end of the day.
"What happens next?" Hathen asked while he raised an eyebrow at the girl who fell silent. "There's plenty of battles that they'd be paying for our service. It's the only reason we'd be able to" Hathen said as he slowly started to think about what happened if they came after him.
"We have a contract. They want someone to escort a few wagons outside the city." The soldier said while Hathen nodded. "I do have something to ask. There are signs of someone with those horns on their head. The one which looks like it's part of your head." The soldier said as Hathen sighed to himself.
"Wait. These horns?" Hathen asked while he raised an eyebrow and shook his head. "What about these horns? It is a trait my people share or at the least? Many of them do. We do have time to do when it comes to trolls." Hathen stated to himself while he shook his head.
The soldier raised an eyebrow. Hathen seemed to be rather bothered by his job, but he didn't seem to be raising any complaints which to the soldier meant more he was unsure rather than annoyed at the moment.
"Trolls?" The soldier asked himself while his friend nodded to himself. "There's plenty of different types of people in town and yet trolls? I don't see them anywhere in town." The soldier said while Hathen nodded to the soldier at the moment.
"There are not any trolls around the region for any real reason," Hathen said with a frown. "What do we do next?" Hathen asked while he raised an eyebrow towards him.
The man said nothing and simply kept his footing equal so he wasn't at all thrown off by his changing surroundings while he prepared for the mission. If something was going on? He'd find it sooner or later at the time. All it took was time and effort to be able to pinpoint what it was and counter it. The more time spent here was more time he didn't know what else to do when it came down to it.
Still? The time hadn't been now. He needed more time to deal with his issues when it came to their topics. There was still work to be done before today was done and in the past. He wanted to devote himself to his problems before this was over with.
He cleared his throat and spoke a moment later while he placed his hands behind his back. He was rather happy before now. He tapped his fingers on his back as he did so. The Ogre was too far done with this lack of combat to do anything besides await the next battle with them. The sooner they were on a mission was the sooner he was able to quench his lust for battle that plagued many of his people.
He rubbed at his temples as the soldier started to think of what to say a moment later. He gazed at Hathen who was ready to be onwards towards this place
He tapped his hands on his knees while he did so. The soldier spoke a moment later while he sighed to himself. He spun on his hand a moment later and looked at the hulking soldier who seemed to be waiting for her next words. He chose them carefully as he didn't want an annoyed soldier to be at his throat for something that wasn't entirely on his side. He wanted to gain their allegiance before today was done and dusted. He was rather happy to see that more soldiers planned to be within his sphere of influence. The problem was that he had to deal with more soldiers rather than the mountain of one behind him? It reminded him that they had a long to do
"The work will not pay a lot for the moment." The soldier stated which gained a raised eyebrow at this. "There is not a lot of work in these parts to pay an entire army. The theaters of war aren't dealt with often by us. it comes down a lot to things and the simplest one? Simply due to the fact others try and handle the work before we do." The soldier stated before he frowned to himself.
He was ready to be interested when it comes down to it and sighed to himself. The fact that this had become insanely horrid was something else. It had become so far out of proportion that he almost expected it.
"There will be problems to pay when it comes down to it. Problems that can be handled later down the road." He stated before he seemed to glance around before he rubbed his temples.
The soldier watched both Hathen and the rest of his men when it came down to it. He was going to be ready when he considered it at the second. This was honestly a lot worse than anything else. There was so much on his mind when he considered it. Hathen was curious when it came down to it.
He was already too interested in what was to happen next. The fact that he had been messing on his hands was going to be odd when this ended. Hathen was going to be curious at the time, interested in what was to come. There was going to be so much when it came down to it. The fact that he had been ready for this, interested in what their problem was going to be arranging this mission. The fact that there was going to be so much blood on his hands worried him for a second.
It had become rather curious. They wanted a soldier; it was clear how much they could easily hire one despite lacking the resources. There were far more curious questions.
The fact that they had questions. Why had they had hired him? Why had they gotten more soldiers on this arm? How many soldiers were in the army? And what were they going to pay him at the time? Hathen was honestly curious when it came down to it. There was so much on his mind, so much to break down and slowly.
"And I'm going to guess what is going to happen next?" Hathen questioned while he tilted his head to the side. "There are dozens of mercenaries all around here, what is going to happen next? The fact that there will be so many soldiers deployed also means that this mission was going to be harder than anything, isn't it?" Hathen asked while his friend seemed to only roll his eyes at this.
There was far more hope when it came down to it. More problems were going to be hopeful.
He rubbed at his temples before he questioned himself before it had come down to it. Hathen was going to be happy when it was happy when it seemed to question at the second. Hathen crossed his arms before he started to walk forward before rubbing his eyes and glanced around as he tilted his head.
There was going to be curious at the second that there would be more problems when this ended. The Troll honestly hoped for the best and wished for nothing less than the worst when it came down to it.
He was going to be happy with what to do next as of the second. He clicked to do next before he slowly started to walk forward before, he had been ready to question.
He tilted his head before he cracked his fingers and started to walk towards the door. The Troll had many thoughts that he pushed to the side. The fact that he was not being told a lot was enough to make him guess that they hadn't many ideas.
Hathen smiled to himself before he tilted his head and tilted his head as he glanced at it. He glanced around before he walked out of the door.
He tilted his head.
