Chapter 5: The Old and The New
The Nether was always unforgiving to its inhabitants and explorers, but to Technoblade, the Nether was but a place to warm up.
Withers, Magma Cubes, Ghasts, Unfortunate Piglins, Brutes, Blazes, everything the Nether offered to stop the Blood God's rampage, was all but futile.
Fortresses, Bastions, Biomes all fell under one man's strength. Technoblade was not determined to stop, he needed to quell the voices, he needed to satisfy their bloodlust, he needed blood for the blood god.
Technoblade arrived at the 8th fortress he would plunder, but something was waiting for him, a figure stood above one of the many ruined towers of the fortress. Eyeing him with intense ferocity and wrath.
"Finally, my time for vengeance has come," The figure utters, malice laced in every word.
"Hm?" Techno grunted, looking confused at the presence.
The figure jumped down, showing a metallic body and covering every part of it except his head, but his jaw and nose were covered by a metal creeper mask breathing heavily. A small crown resided on his head with its shining gold beginning to illuminate the character.
As he landed, he had this look on his face, even though it was not fully shown from the outside. Technoblade could see it, his eyes, his red eyes within a black sclera surrounding it. The blood god brandished his trident to somehow intimidate this vengeful character, but he did not budge.
"Who are you?" Techno asks, hoping to avoid a fight.
"My identity is not important, but your death is my mission."
The figure lunged forward with speed even the Blood God could barely comprehend, he barely had time to bring up his trident to block. Technoblade nearly faltered because of the sheer force behind that attack, even when it was blocked.
Techno went for a sweep attack, but it did not work, the metal and the weight protected and prevented the figure from being overpowered by the Blood God.
The metallic man pressed on his attack, not allowing the Blood God to attack. Jabs, hooks and uppercuts flying towards Techno's torso, if Techno guarded too high then the man would respond with roundhouse kicks. The Blood God's defense was being used against him.
Technoblade had enough, he pointed his trident upwards and summoned lightning from the Nether, an ability only he had. He charged forward with the empowered trident and was channelling enough power to hopefully destroy his opponent. Seeing this, the man summoned a trident of his own, and responded to Techno's bull charge with one of his own, just without the empowerment of lightning.
The two clashed, and the fortress was immediately falling apart from the sheer force from the clash. Techno saw what was in front of him, an unscathed opponent who had used his own trident to absorb the lightning within Techno's. In a split second, he shot the lightning back in point blank range, sending the demigod flying.
As he was sent flying away, Technoblade tried to get a good landing and regain his balance, but as soon as he did land, the man's trident came at his body, almost impaling the demigod if he did not catch it. The trident escaped Techno's grip and returned to the metallic man, who now had these redstone mechanisms on his body which gave him the ability of flight, seemingly with the use of metal rockets, fireworks and elytra technology implemented on all his limbs, now floating towards Techno.
"Do you remember that move, Blood God?" the man asked.
"I remember this, but I used it on too many people, can't remember which one."
"Then this will help you recall."
Glyphs appeared on the man's arm as he landed on the netherrack, it turned from red to orange, then he unleashed a Heat Wave attack stronger than the Blood God expected with the Nether's fire magic boost.
Technoblade cannot seem to dodge this attack, as its spread was immensely broad. The Blood God spun his trident the fastest he could, emulating a spinning fan that could hopefully blow away the heat.
But the Heat wave was too powerful, and some of Techno's clothes were slowly burning as the heat tore through his trident.
In all this hopelessness, the attack stopped.
"Do you remember now?"
"Sam."
"Dave."
"Do not call me by that name."
"Why not? You introduced yourself with that name."
"Because you do not deserve to say it."
"What did I do wrong? Being defeated by you?"
"No."
"Why then?"
"You brought them back."
"Ah, yes, The Voices."
"How did you!?-"
"Simple, my resurrector told me everything I needed to know about you, 'Technoblade'."
"What are you doing here?" Techno growled.
"I thought I had said it, your death is my mission."
"I do not think you can kill a demigod."
"You don't think I can kill one, even though I am gifted with the power to kill Gods?"
"What does this 'machinery' have to do with god-killing?"
"This new body is resistant to all kinds of attacks from them, benefactured and provided by, once again, my resurrector."
"Who is your-"
"Enough chat, I must kill you now, he is getting impatient."
Storing his trident away, Sam took out 2 double edged Netherite Axes, dual wielding them with skill and precision and proceeded to charge at Techno. The Blood God braces himself with his trident to defend and counterattack Sam's charge.
Sam swings ahead, already pressuring the Blood God enough to defend against all his attacks, leaving no room for the demigod to counter. Techno, desperate, forced an opening by pushing Sam with his trident and summoning lightning from below. Sam anticipated this attack and moved to defend his bottom, leaving his upper body and head wide open.
Techno uses the butt of his trident to smack Sam away, creating space between the two, he quickly charges back in trying to impale Sam. Sam blocks it with his shield, parrying the trident and striking with his sword.
Techno uses the middle part of his trident to block the blade, then charging his weapon with lightning, the lightning passed from the trident to the blade and then to the cyborg. However he simply stood there, the lightning channelled harmlessly from his metal body into the netherrack floor.
"As I said, this armor is resistant to god attacks, your puny lightning won't do anything."
"Then why is it smoking?" Techno asked, channelling more electricity into his trident.
"I see, perhaps you are a bit more powerful than expected," Sam replied, able to smell the smoke rising from the depths of his machine body.
Sam then activates a mechanism in his body, releasing more steam than smoke and in a few seconds, the smoke is gone. "It seems that using Packed Ice in the cooling mechanisms was not a bad choice, I thought it would freeze my body."
Technoblade was now backed into a corner, Sam had every counter mechanism against him. The cyborg used precise moves to obliterate his enemies in one blow which in the most part countered Techno's style of rapid attacking until the opponent could not take anymore hits.
"That's it, I'm going all in," Techno says as he drinks Strength, Swiftness, Jump boost, a god apple for Regeneration, Absorption, Fire Resistance, and Resistance. He also proceeded to pull out a dark gray sword with enchantment lights shining out of it and readied himself with one hand, the sword, and the other, his trident.
"Hm." Sam activates another mechanism, giving the same effects that The Blood God used, but it seems that they have been brewing inside his body for a long time, perfected until the effects of the potions exceeded the limits. In one moment, Sam consumes the mixture of potions, and also gains a boost.
Without hesitation from both sides, they launched at each other and began to fight more vigorously than what they did minutes ago. Techno's rapid trident charge followed with the Sharpness, Knockback, Fire Aspect and Sweeping Edge enchantments and quickly gnawed at the metallic body.
Sam with his axes quickly goes to defend and counter attack, its precision, again, was enough to almost overpower the Blood God's advance. But even with his own Fire Resistance against the Fire Aspect enchantment doing wonders to stop him from taking more damage, the fire continues to accumulate and grow in size, blocking the cyborg's vision.
Then Techno's mask glows, the souls of the many mobs he has slain giving him power, the voices cheer.
"Kill Him!"
"KILL HIM!"
"DESTROY HIM!"
The trident starts shaking with divine power, lightning flowing up and down it's length. For a brief moment Sam flinches, remembering his castration by this very power, and that was all Tehno needed.
Thrusting his trident forward, it hit Sam and knocked him back. He rubbed the trident against his Netherite Sword, sharing the divine power between his weapons and charges in, not giving Sam room to breathe.
With each swing, more electricity courses through Sam. With each stab, more and more of his armor breaks off, exposing the metal body underneath. With each breath Techno takes, Sam becomes more tired.
"As powerful as he said," Sam noted, "But not powerful enough."
Suddenly, from within Sam, energy burst out pushing everything back and devastating the Nether Fortress. As the fortress fell, Sam and Techno jumped from block to block, continuing to exchange blows from their weapons and sometimes their fists until they reached the ground.
"That power…" Techno mutters, throwing his trident at Sam, "A Nether Star?"
"Of course you'd know," Sam answers, slashing at Techno's trident, which quickly returns to Techno.
"If you think a boost from a Nether Star is going to save you," Techno warns, his eyes glowing as his bloodlust gathered around him, "You are mistaken."
"You are correct, one Nether Star is not enough."
"What?"
A surge of energy quickly filled Sam's body, all of the parts he lost slowly regenerating his lost armor, and also creating enough pressure to shock the Blood God.
"Multiple Nether Stars would do just fine, don't you think?"
Sam then charges on to Techno at an unprecedented speed, the demigod was still in shock, he was distracted and didn't have time to counter, and was punished for it. The cyborg then landed a Strength powered bull-charged double-legged kick in the speed of approximately Mach 4 that launched Techno so far away that the Blood God landed in a different biome.
Techno had to recollect himself from the damage, and notices that if Sam lands another attack, his regeneration speed would not keep up and he would slowly succumb.
The Blood God must not let that happen, one wrong move would spell his end.
The voices cheered for blood, Technoblade was more than happy to oblige, his divine power reaching out for the countless mobs that were killed by Sam's blast. Taking in their souls and rage, adding their voices to his bloodlust-fueled symphony.
"No," Techno growled, his voice echoing throughout the Nether. "No amount of Nether Stars can save you."
Red aura surrounded him, he snorted in anger, a haze blocking out his higher thinking as the great power washed away his calm. Sam backed away, knowing of the Blood God's power up, it is as He warned him.
Overwhelming the demigod with the voices will throw him into a fit that cannot be quelled until the mission's success. Now the question was, could he survive for that long?
Sam was not taking anymore chances, more clockwork and redstone mechanisms ticked within him, allowing him to maintain defensive functions, evasive maneuvers, and consistent potion effects to last longer.
The second Techno charged, Sam preparations didn't matter. In a split second, his leg was gone and Techno was above him ready to stab his trident through his skull. Reacting quickly, Sam parried the weapon with his arm
Despite his arm getting shredded it did redirect the trident away from his head, onto the Netherrack next to him, allowing him to kick the enraged demigod away. Getting up quickly he avoids a slash from the trident, watching as the trident passes above him, electricity licking his exposed metal body.
He uses his own blade to attack, forcing the Blood God back, Sam noticed that Techno had trouble recovering, like a beast that was tipped over, he was unbalanced. Gone was the seasoned warrior, all that remained was a raging beast.
When he charged again, despite the great power, Sam was able to redirect it. Each time he did it he threw him just a bit closer to the edge, to the point where his rage would consume him and the Blood God would turn into a demon, a menace that would wreak havoc on the world.
'Just a bit more,' Sam thought, wincing as parts of his body started breaking down.
Suddenly an arrow flew right into Techno's side, the force of the arrow knocking Techno clean off his feet and into the lava. Sam turned to find the shooter, only for another arrow to come flying straight at him.
His eyes widening, he ducks under the arrow. Thinking he avoided it he didn't notice he was pushed back at all, until he looked down and saw the skid marks.
'Did… the shockwave push me back?' Sam thought, looking back up to look for the archer.
The cyborg was shocked, confident in his victory only for a mysterious archer to throw everything off track. Whoever the archer was, they were going to pay.
Sam looked to The Blood God before gearing up to jump to the location the arrow came from, but he saw that Technoblade had snapped out of his raging form. He was shocked, the arrow had that much power to quell this kind of beast?
The cyborg needed answers, so he quickly jumped to the approximate location of the archer, but was met by another arrow which impaled the cyborg. Sam did not feel any pain, but he knew he was backed into a corner.
Sam quickly got the arrow off his chest, now angry and desperate to find the third party, taking away his focus from the demigod. With his attention away, Techno easily slashed his back.
Then as Sam turns to face Techno, an arrow hits him and knocks him into the wall, slowly putting him out of commission. His attention now fully diverted to the archer rather than Techno.
"What is with THIS FARCE, SHOW YOURSELF YOU MOTHERFUCKING GOD FORSAKEN ARCHER!"
Techno saw his undivided attention as an opportunity to catch the cyborg off guard and end it all once and for all, but his stamina and energy had begun to fail him. The demigod could not move a single muscle, being exhausted for the first time in a millenia.
"SHOW YOURSELF!" Sam was becoming impatient.
And so the archer did show himself, and Sam was shocked to see who it was. He remembered his resurrector had warned him against contact with a certain being, claiming that not even the Higher Gods could oppose him, despite him having lower authority than most of them.
Dark wings helped the man glide down towards their location, a middle-aged blonde man wearing a green and white striped hat with a dark coat that sported a white diamond pattern along its bottom half, with a dark green yukata and pants underneath. His coat's design is reminiscent of an eastern cloak without its hood.
"Surely you must have a reason to be here, Spouse of Death?" Sam remarks.
"Helping a friend, of course," The 'Spouse' answered.
"You made friends with a god of war?"
"Of course I would, my wife used to require his service to fuel her power, even though chaos began to ensue on its own, we still keep in touch."
The man walked towards the Blood God, and upon stopping in front of the demigod he helped Technoblade get back on his feet.
"I shoulda known it was you, Phil."
"Well I did feel the effects of your slaughter a few hours ago, then there was a sudden spike in the amount of death happening within the area," Phil explained his presence,"Look over there, everything in that fortress and biome has been decimated by only sheer spiritual pressure."
"Glad to know I'm still powerful," Techno replies.
"But you are out of your touch, you were almost bodied by him," Phil retorts.
"It's true, his rage was quite exploitable, would have finished the job if not for you, fallen angel," Sam agrees.
"Now what to do about you, metal man?" Phil looks towards Sam.
Sam activates another mechanism on his intact arm, and launches nether portal residue to create a single man sized portal back to the overworld without the need of obsidian.
"I will come back for you, Dave, currently your 'friend' here is a huge hindrance to my plans, I look forward to meeting you again soon."
Sam leaves through the portal as it then closes, leaving the two friends behind in the nether biome.
"How's Kristin?" Techno asked.
"She's fine, let's get you back up there."
"Agreed."
"That's how you do a simple forward thrust," Wilbur demonstrated to Tommy.
"Why is my assignment currently 'training'? I have had this before," Tommy retorts.
"It is simply because I am going to help you build up your confidence in new skills, that confidence would certainly help with recruiting more men to our cause."
"I could just go outside and tell them to join."
"Guards would find out very soon."
"I could take them."
"They are more organized than the trainees you fought in your Academy, and very used to your 'wild' style."
"But it works."
"Not on Techno, apparently. Now, do it."
"Do the thrust?"
"Yes, come on."
As Tommy reluctantly begins his new training, Wilbur hears the noises of the Nether Portal.
A wounded Techno pops out, a smile on his face as he walks past the two only to face Wilbur and ask, "Is there a bathroom I can use?"
"Up on the second floor," Wilbur answered, pointing at the room, "Last room to the left."
"Hey kid, how's your training?"
"Boring."
"Well after I'm done healing, I'm gonna teach you a few moves."
"I will not take anything bastardly from you, prick."
"Prideful, huh. Suit yourself, you don't need to learn the techniques I use to defeat my enemies."
"Judging by how you look, it looks like you got mauled."
"I cannot confirm nor deny this."
"I think it's best for Techno to train you, Tommy," Wilbur inputs.
"Why?" Tommy whined.
"If you want to be a fighting expert, you have to learn from the best."
"Look at him, Wilbur, he is clearly not-"
"Tommy." Wilbur said in a really stern voice.
"Fine, I'll do it, Jesus," Tommy reluctantly agrees, knowing what Wilbur is hinting at.
"Good, now Techno, I'll need an explanation of what the fuck happened to you, but for now, heal up and train the kid."
"Got it, also, your father sends his regards."
"My father's here?
To be continued…
Extra:
"He is oblivious to us."
"Good… we will soon take over Manbu-"
"But there's a problem."
"What is it?"
"Good news, Schlatt is an idiot."
"So what's the problem?"
"Bad news, Schlatt is an idiot."
"Elaborate."
"He doesn't know how to properly run a country, so it's easy to take over, but trying to manipulate him into doing so has proven futile."
"How so?"
"Well, he's a sociopathic narcissist and only listens to things he likes."
"Then manipulate him using that."
"But everything I suggest, he hates, and everything I thought I know he likes, he also hates, he's an unpredictable idiot."
"Ok, then just, try to gain more influence among his men."
"I can't do that."
"Why?"
"They're also idiots."
"It is going to take a long time to resolve this without waging a war, Bad, proceed with the current plan, but take it slow this time."
"Yes, Dream."
I'll be taking a break, so you have to wait even longer. And please leave feedback and comments, the ones that are cursing me about making you wait so long is also appreciated. Later nerds.
