…Chapter VI…
"I repeat all students should report to the training hall now for room assignments."
That was the last message the loudspeaker gave them before leaving the teens to their own devices. Many of them groaned, wanting more sleep. In the end all of them started to move and start to get ready. Ruby had begun to walk through the mass of bodies before her. Every so often a few students would move out of her way if it called for it. Pyrrha, being a kind soul, reluctantly followed her, saying a silent sorry each time she had to step over someone.
Ruby spotted Ren and Nora through the mass of bodies, seeing Nora already awake. As usual, the hyperactive girl was her usual self, seemingly humming a song. Ruby pointed her out to Pyrrha, as they got closer.
"That's my best friend, Nora Valkyrie," she then moved her finger to the boy next to her, laying on the floor, changed already.
"And that's her not-boyfriend, Lie Ren." Pyrrha nodded as they walked, watching Nora start to turn towards Ren.
"Hey Renny, ~ want hear about my dream last night?"
"…No"
Nora pouted, before speaking, "Well~ I'm going to tell you anyways! SO, IT STARTED WITH A SLOTH ATTACK! The sloth queen found us in our secret base and sent the attack sloths to kidnap you! So, I had to…"
Pyrrha looked confused as she listened into the conversation Nora and Ren were having. Sloth queen? Attack sloths? Ruby chuckled besides her, laughing at how dumb the expression Pyrrha was making was.
"You'll learn to understand it after a while, hey Nora!"
Ruby offered her condolences as they reached Nora ad Ren. Ren had gone and sat up when Pyrrha and Ruby approached, and Nora stopped her rambling. Ruby smiled before pushing Pyrrha a bit forward.
"Guys, this is Pyrrha Nikos. Pyrrha, this Nora Valkyrie, and this is Lie Ren. Guys, let's be friends okay?"
"Hello there!" Pyrrha waved at them with a wide smile. Nora and Ren both sighed and smiled back at Pyrrha, Ren lying back down now.
"A Nikos huh…" he said to himself as he put his arms behind his head.
"So, how long have you known Red for, huh, Pyrrha?"
Pyrrha backed up slightly as Nora stood up and approached her, her killing intent showing, but under control. Ruby just looked on, wondering what was going to happen.
"Um, maybe for 12 years?"
Nora in all her bravado just stopped mid walk and feel onto her knees, looking defeated already. Ren just sighed while Ruby burst out laughing.
"I've only known Red for 8 years…"
Nora completely defeated, just stayed on the floor looking absentmindedly at the tiles. Ruby sighed at looked at Ren just shrugged his shoulders and did not move from his spot. Ruby walked in front of Nora giving Pyrrha a little shoulder shrug.
"Your still my best friend, you masochist, now get up. We wasted enough time with this."
Ruby turned around and began to walk out towards the training hall. It took Nora a second, but she soon bolted after Ruby, grabbing her arm when she caught up. Pyrrha was baffled by the event. Ren just stood up and started walked out after them.
"Why was Nora like that?"
Pyrrha had started to walk towards him, a little behind Ruby and Nora. Ren having no desire to catch up with them yet and Pyrrha wanting information. Ren sighed; he was not going to say to much, just the basics to sate her urge for info
"Nora was never supposed to be apart of the syndicate. When she was a kid, a low-level band of crooks broke in and robbed her house. Her parents were awake and went to try to beg for the thieves to leave."
"Nora watched as her parents were stabbed dead in front of her. Something inside of her snapped, and her semblance activated. She grabbed the knife from her fathers' body and brutally massacred the men."
Pyrrha looked back and forth between Ren and Nora. Nora had gone through that? It chilled her to the core, even though they were killers and murderers themselves, the lived by a code. "That's terrible. I'm so sorry."
Ren nodded and they silently agreed to catch up with the two instead of hanging back. Pyrrha was to the side of Ruby. When she looked and Nora and Ruby, Nora looked back and smiled happily to her. Pyrrha smiled back, hoping to now show that she knew her sad secret.
They stayed that way till they reached the training hall.
When they got there, the training hall. It looked like a large soccer stadium with a flat roof. It was a steel gray, stretching down into long talons that added design to the stadium. The stadium a bult upon a bluff that lead to a forest below it —the famous beacon emerald forest.
Red smiled as she and company approached the training hall doors. The forest was known for helping birth the deadliest killers. Only a master such as Ozpin could predict something like that would happen. It chilled Ruby to the core, just how much he knows about honing beacons of death.
They walked through the doors and followed the flood of students towards the large bulletin board that would hold both her future and her past respectively…
…Chapter VI…
A certain girl walked through the training hall, her steps quite and soft. She was near the front of the flood, having left early on for the training hall. She looked up at the board and smiled to herself. She was going to get her little reaper after all. It would just take a big longer. The board flashed one single message to the student's ad as Ruby grew closer, she could see it.
Your future lies in the emerald forest.
As she was about to go run out and jump into the forest herself, the loudspeaker crackled on again, with Goodwitch clearing her throat before speaking.
"Welcome, to your first assignment as future Hunters, as we've begun to call you. Your roommates will be chosen entirely at random based on a set list Ozpin has made. You will be sent off in groups of 8 into the emerald forest by air drop. The first person you meet afterwards, is partner until your time here is up."
As Goodwitch finished her monologue, the doors towards the back of the training hall opened.
"Please wait your turn, I shall arrive momentarily to split you up in groups based on Ozpin's list."
Ruby smiled as she heard this and ran towards the doors, sliding through the people with ease. She stopped as she could feel the soft dirt under her shoes. The bluff overlooking the emerald forest was beautiful in the autumn weather, the sun and the clouds giving it a peaceful glow. She smiled as she sat down and just took it all in.
"Um, excuse me..."
A fated meeting.
Grey eyes looked into brown ones.
"Are you Ruby Rose...?"
