Chapter 17: Trouble
Despite the fact that she and Professor McGonagall would most likely never get along she had to admit that Hogwarts was pretty nice. Anything was better than the Dursley's and she was happy to be friends with Draco and Hermione. Even if Draco was a spoiled rich kid and Hermione looked as though she had remembered the entire library. Still, she had most of the staff on her side and that included the Headmaster.
She would spend time with her mother and work on honing her Potions skills with Severus. On her way back from Severus potions lab she saw Hermione being dragged into Severus office by McGonagall. Selene was very confused and waited until the door was closed. Pressing her ear to the floor she used her mother's blessing to find out what was going on.
"SHE ATTACKED MR. WEASLEY."
"Which one?" Severus asked.
"IN HER YEAR."
"Oh Ickle Ronniekins."
It took everything that Selene had to not burst out laughing. Ickle Ronniekins. Oh she was going to have to tell everyone in Slytherin about Ronald Weasley's nickname.
"DON'T CALL HIM THAT."
"So what did she do the red headed moron?" Severus asked.
"SEVERUS SNAPE, DON'T YOU DARE CALL HIM THAT EITHER."
Oh could this woman get a clue. Every Professor called him a moron.
"SHE KICKED HIM IN THE PANTS."
Oh score one for Hermione Granger.
"HE CALLED ME A DARK WITCH," Hermione yelled at her.
"BECAUSE YOU ARE ONE, AND SO IS POTTER."
That was then that Selene heard Severus voice raise to a level that she had never heard it before. Personally Selene didn't care if McGonagall called her a dark witch. She knew the truth, even if no one else cared to.
"IF I HEAR YOU CALL ANY OF MY STUDENTS DARK, AGAIN, I WILL ENSURE THAT THE REMAINDER OF YOUR LIFE IS PURE HADES."
The tone was laced with a power that came from Hades children.
"You wouldn't dare," she said, her voice filled with fear.
"Don't try me, witch," Severus said, his voice changing into the tone that he used when he hung out with his dad.
Suddenly a hand touched her shoulder and she almost jumped out of her skin. She turned to see the Weasley twins and her mother standing there. She motioned her to follow them and the four left.
"So, what exactly happened?" Selene asked them.
"Oh nothing much," Fred said (she had figured out how to tell one from the other).
"Yeah, Ronnie opened his mouth and called Granger a dark witch outside of the Great Hall. She kicked him in the pants and he ran to McGonagall."
"I'm so proud of her," her mother said.
"She's going to be one spitting cobra as she grows up," George said. "And that's a complement."
"Don't let Draco know, or he's going to be terrified of her."
"I doubt Malfoy will be terrified of anyone," Fred said.
"Oh don't count on that," Selene warned.
When Selene got back to the Slytherin Common Room Draco along with Marcus and Millicent wanted to know if it was true that Hermione had kicked Ron in the pants.
"Yes, it's true," Selene said.
"I can't believe it," Millicent said. "Little Granger has some fangs."
"And probably venom and claws as well," Draco said. "And speaking of the Devil."
He pointed and Selene turned to see a really pissed off Hermione coming storming in. Selene had learned from Hecate how to detect unstable magic and the magic that was coming off of Hermione was enough to make her worry.
"I want to have a word with her," Selene told them.
"Better you than me," Marcus said.
"Hermione, what's wrong?"
"I GOT FUCKING DETENTION WITH THAT OLD HAG MCGONAGALL"
"I heard what happened," Selene said, pretending that she had learned from others and not from listening in.
"I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL HIM."
"Hermione, you can't let Weasley get to you," she said. "Trust me, it doesn't work out well in the end."
Hermione glared at her and then stormed off. Selene hoped that Hermione calmed down by tomorrow. Hermione wasn't at dinner that night, so Selene took her meal down to their dorm. She found Hermione reading a book that looked like the one they used in Charms.
"Hermione," Selene said.
"Yes," she snapped.
Ah, she was still mad.
"I brought you dinner," she said.
"I'm not hungry," Hermione told her but Selene knew that was a lie.
"Hermione, you have to eat," Selene said. "And you have to stop letting pricks like Ronald Weasley get to you."
"Don't-ever-mention-his-name," Hermione snarled and then Selene saw it, Hermione's eyes were glowing.
"Hermione, your eyes."
At that moment everything started to shake. This cause Selene to drop the plate and back away.
"MOTHER!" Selene called out and her mother appeared at her side.
"Oh no, Hermione, you must calm down."
"I HATE RON WEASLEY. I CURSE HIM! HE WILL NEVER FATHER A CHILD…EVER."
"LADY HECATE!" Artemis commanded and Hecate appeared.
"Oh this isn't good," she said and she waved her hand, making Hermione go to sleep.
"Thanks," Selene said to her.
"I will have a word with my daughter," Hecate told them. "Leave us in peace."
Both nodded and left.
