I Can't Go to a Hero School with my Little Sister!

Okay, uh, most of the characters have have powers and Kyousuke has powers and, uh, he goes to a hero school with his sister Kirino and he saves the world and the universe and stuff, doesn't get anymore complicated then that, I swear.

13. Chapter 13

An unnamed meteorologist sits at his post at the weather station monitoring the satellite feed, as he's sipping his coffee he noticed a sudden change in the radar, a large storm that wasn't there a few minutes ago suddenly appears off the coast of Eastern Australia. At first he doesn't worry as the storm is only slightly above average size but as the minutes go by he becomes shocked at how quickly the storm is growing, ten minutes after first sighting, the storm has already grown to the size of a hurricane. Once the man mapped the storm's path he immediately sent the data to his superiors before going on to get a live image of the storm, as he zoomed in he noticed something within the eye of the storm, at the center and as the feed continuously refreshed he saw the object was moving with the storm and whatever it was, was massive.

"K-Kaiju?"

CHA, End of School day

Ky: "…"

Ki: "…"

Ay: "{Yaaawn}."

Ky: "Heh today sure is boring isn-."

"KYOUSUKE KOUSAKA!"

Ky: "Uh, you guys maybe want to-"

"FIGHT ME YOU COWARD!"

Ky: "Excuse me for sec."

As they were sitting in homeroom waiting for the teacher, who was late, to come and make the afternoon announcements, another THA student suddenly began screaming at them through the window. So Kyousuke opened the window to attempt to pacify the zealous challenger through peaceful verbal conference.

Ky: "EFF OFF!"

"I WILL IF YOU ACCEPT MY CHALLENGE!"

Ky: "{Slam window} Jeez these guys just won't give up."

Ay: "The perks of being a top rank student."

For the past few weeks challengers from the Tokyo campus have been coming in to get a piece of Kyousuke but he's turned them all down due to being busy after school with the Defense League members.

"Alright students sorry I'm late."

The teacher made the announcements and the students left for the day.

Ki: "So you heading out with them again?"

Ky: "Yeah, they've been trying to pit me against higher level monsters than what students are allowed to fight and maybe a criminal or two but so far things have been quiet."

Ki: "Well it's a given, the Extermination Hunts started decades ago, anything that hasn't been wiped out by now is either doing their best to avoid humans, being preserved in research labs or is circulating in the black market. Incidents like with the Death Lords at the beach are pretty rare here in Japan especially where we live, all the real monster action is on the mainland, if they really want pit you against something strong they'd have to take you somewhere less populated or abroad even."

Ky: "Hm now there's an idea."

After bidding farewell to his sister Kyousuke headed to the underground and slipped into his suit before meeting up with Ayami and Hitaro.

Hi: "Alright all aboard and off we go."

Aya: "Okay Kyou, we got a surprise for you today, we're going on a trip."

Ky: "Trip? Where?"

Aya: "Gunma prefecture."

Ky: "Gunma?! But that's hours away and tonight is a school night."

Aya: "Yeah but us League members have our way of getting around fast so don't worry."

Ky: "If you say so but why Gunma?"

Aya: "There's a monster on the loose there that's on the extermination list, a cockatrice."

Exposition: The cockatrice, a monster that starts out as Cat. S but progresses to Cat. T as it grows. Named after the beast of myth, a one in a hundred million chance genetic mutation of a Proto-chicken (basically a tiny feathered dinosaur) where the resulting chick grows into a massive fire breathing dragon-like beast. When fully grown, which can take no more than a day or two, it's scales are as tough as steel, it has a beak that can rip through a tank and along with flames it can shoot chemicals that have a delayed reaction with its fire that makes them as hot as thermite and almost impossible to put out and it can also spew a potent acid.

Hi: "Apparently a farmer raising a menagerie of manageable mutated creatures had one of his proto-chickens lay the egg, he didn't notice until it was too late and the darn thing ate half his livestock before it ran off into the woods. Fortunately that was only several hours ago, if we get there fast we can kill it before it fully matures, after that point it'll no longer be flightless and we'll have pull you out and call in back up."

Ky: "Okay so no pressure but still how are we getting there?"

Aya: "We're just going to borrow something from the Americans."

Tokyo Bay, USS Thunderment, A.K.A the Thunder Chucker

Hi: "The USS Thunderment, nicknamed Thunder Chucker by the crewmen, it's one of several ships known as Mag Launchers, as the name suggests, it's equipped with a large telescopic maglev acceleration system built to launch, among other things, small ram jets which are capable of traveling incredibly fast but only over short distances, it's basically a giant railgun that can fire jets."

Aya: "This bad boy should get us to Gunma in less than a couple minutes."

Ky: "So your solution for our traveling issue is to fire us out of a giant cannon? Of course, these people are frickin deranged especially the Americans for building something like this."

So they boarded the ship and hopped into the jets, they were really small, each only able to seat one person. After the ship got into position far enough from the coast and got the go ahead from air traffic control it began to charge up.

Hi: |Try not to worry too much kid, the jet is fully automated, once you reach the destination the jet will deploy a chute and you should land gently and the Thunderment is able to fire five consecutive shots so we'll be right behind you.|

Aya: |Oh and try not to piss yourself, you'll find out why momentarily.|

Hi: |That reminds me, do you see a face mask anywhere in the cockpit? It has like a big tube coming out of the front?|

Ky: "Yeah."

Hi: |Take your helmet off and put it on, you'll need to before we launch.|

Ky: "Uh, got it, a bit different looking from the type jet pilots usually wear."

So Kyousuke sealed the mask across his face and immediately after the cockpit began to fill with fluid.

Ky: "Whoa, hey is this normal?!"

Hi: |Yes, that's what the mask is for, the fluid acts as a g-force cushion and believe me without it you'd go into G-LOC (G-force induced loss of consciousness) in an instant.|

|Alright Thunder Chucker is fully charged, in position and ready for launch, pilot are you ready?|

Ky: "Uh, yeah."

|Firing in 3…2…1|

{BANG!}

In a fraction of a second Kyousuke went from sitting stationary inside the cannon to exiting it and zipping over the city skyline. Despite being fired at supersonic speeds which only increased once the jet's engines fired Kyousuke was hardly pushed back into his seat granting him the liberty to look out the canopy as the land beneath him whizzed by.

Ky: "Damn this thing is fast, heh, guess having these powers does have its perks, doubt I ever would've been able to ride this otherwise."

Then just like Ayami said within a couple of minutes Kyousuke had reached Gunma where he gently touched down in the middle of a field after which the canopy unsealed itself allowing the fluids to spill outward before fully opening.

Ky: "Huh, my suit's all dry, that's convenient…hmm, I'm really in Gunma, I wonder if there's a payphone around here, it'd be cool to give Kirino a prank call."

Hi: |Hey kid can you hear me?|

Ky: "Yeah, I've already landed."

Hi: |Alright you should've landed in the general area the cockatrice was spotted, go ahead northward and start searching, we'll be there in a sec. Fire a flare once you've located the monster then engage at will.|

Ky: "Roger."

So Kyousuke began his search by walking into the tree line north of him.

{Boom!}

It was then he heard the sonic boom of one of another ram jets coming in and he looked to the west just in time to see it deploy its chute about a mile away.

Ky: "Pretty far, better to just keep looking than to meet up."

So Kyousuke kept searching and about twenty minutes in he stumbled across footprints, from what he learned about monster tracking he was able to figure out that the prints were only about a half hour old and judging from the depth and contours of the print, it was running.

Ky: It's close but not very, should stay quiet until I can get eyes on it though I have to remember I'm on a time limit.

"Help! Heeelp!"

Just then a woman came exhaustedly running up to Kyousuke.

Ky: "Hey are you okay?"

"Haah help, my friends, you need to save them!"

Ky: "Which way?"

She pointed in a northeastward direction.

Ky: "Okay, here's some pain killers and antibiotics head west and you should find some people that can help you."

Kyousuke left the woman and he started running in the direction she pointed.

Ky: "Dammit I thought they quarantined this area, what are people doing here?"

It was then Kyousuke remembered what the woman was wearing, it was a hero suit.

Ky: "So a bunch of low level heroes heard about a monster in the area and thought they could make a profit biting off more than they could chew, great."

"BKAAAAWK!"

"IT FOUND US RUN!"

"THERE'S NOWHERE TO RUN!"

"WE'RE DEAD!"

"AAAAAH!"

{Crunch!}

"TAMADA!"

Ky: "Shitshitshitshit!"

As Kyousuke broke through the brush he stumbled upon the scene of the cockatrice gulping down a human corpse while three other people cowered up against a twenty-foot stone wall.

Ky: "Dammiiiit!"

Kyousuke acted quick by shooting off a flare just before firing a thermal rifle x5 at the monster's head.

{FwshBANG!}

"KAAAAK!"

The monster staggered and dropped the body, it then faced Kyousuke. It saw him as a threat instead of food so decided to shoot its chemical fire, creating a wall of super hot flames.

Ky: "You think that's going to stop me!"

Kyousuke then jumped through the flames unharmed and the cockatrice then decided to shoot its flames directly at him covering Kyousuke in inextinguishable fire. But he kept pushing, absorbing the heat to charge his power until the flames went out, amplifying his thermal rifle to x8.

{FwshBANG!}

The shot staggered it again but the monster recovered quick and used its tail hit Kyousuke hard enough to send him smashing through a few trees.

"Oh no!"

Thinking Kyousuke was incapacitated the cockatrice set its sights back on the other three but just as it did a sudden cold wind blew through the area. The monster felt the change in aura and looked back to see that the trees Kyousuke was buried under began to freeze over before Kyousuke burned his way out from beneath the wood.

Ky: "Looks like I'm going to need a little more juice to take you down."

Kyousuke then reached the fire wall and absorbed its heat until the fire went out and continued until the ice reached the monster's feet, the cockatrice then sprayed Kyousuke with acid but it was ineffective. Being backed against a wall the cockatrice activated an ability of last resort, it suddenly began to change shape, it's entire body quickly thinned out to the point it looked emaciated and its feathers grew out enough for it to be able to fly if only for a little so it quickly shot up into the sky.

Ky: "Shit."

Instead of escaping though it got into position for an angled dive to attempt to swiftly grab one of the humans who were now trying to escape but Kyousuke saw what it was doing and acted quick.

Ky: "Come on, come on!"

Then just as he caught up with the others he turned around just in time to pull a new move out.

Ky: "Thermal IMPACT!"

A low range but high impact and high temperature wave of super heated air,

{VVVVPPWWWWW!}

"BKAAAAAK!"

Once the cockatrice got within range its feathers immediately burst into flame, seconds later its tough scales crumbled just before its flesh was incinerated leaving nothing but charred bone that crashed to the ground in front of Kyousuke.

Ky: "Haah, target, haah, eliminated, alright everyone you're all sa-"

Exhausted Kyousuke turned back to the others to see if they need first aid but saw that they had already made themselves scarce.

Ky: "Welp saves me some first aid supplies, ugh, man that last one took a lot out of me, I'm wiped."

Hi: |KYOUSKE?! KYOUSUKE DO YOU READ?!|

Ky: "Agh, jeez, I'm here dammit there's no need to yell!"

Hi: |Ah, good, you scared us for a minute there.|

Aya: |Yeah we've been yelling your name over the coms for the past couple minutes since we saw your flare why didn't you answer!?|

Ky: "I was in the middle of fighting the target, guess I was too focused on it to hear you but I was able to down it already."

Aya: |Really!? All on your own!? Damn kid you're on top of things!|

Ky: "Unfortunately we have a casualty."

Hi: |Us too, found the charred remains of a couple of local heroes near my landing zone and had to put out some fires, though did I see something flying around a second ago?|

Ky: "Yeah the thing went through some kind of metamorphosis, its wings fully matured in an instant and it got really skinny."

Hi: |No way, this early?|

Aya: |Heh, that's called metabolic boost, an ability some mutated animals can be born with that allows them to rapidly metabolize any unused nutrients in their bodies for any purpose they need, downside is it greatly exhausts them, nearly kills them from starvation and is over all detrimental to its future health though if anything the first two just makes them more dangerous.|

Ky: "Guess that's why it didn't try to escape when it grew its wings out, it was desperate for some food, though it's all bones now, hey you don't think anybody would mind if I kept the skull as a trophy?"

Hi: |Knock yourself out, you earned it, as long as you keep our secret.|

Ky: "Cool."

Hi: |Now maintain position and we'll come pick you up, good job today.|

Ky: "Thank you sir."

{Crackle!}

It was then that Kyousuke felt a building heat coming from somewhere near him and he turned to see he had accidentally caught some of the trees and bushes on fire.

Ky: "OH SHIT!"

After successfully avoiding a potential forest fire Kyousuke met back up with Hitaro and Ayami and a high speed VTOL craft came to take them home though the flight was much longer than with the jets but with enough time to relax, cook dinner and do his homework Kyousuke arrived home.

Ky: "I'm home."

Ki: "Hey, how was it?"

Ky: "Pretty good, you're going to enjoy this."

So Kyousuke gave his sister a general rundown of what happened.

Ki: "Wow, that sure sounds exciting, guess that explains those loud booms I heard earlier."

Ky: "Yeah though it's too bad you couldn't be there."

Ki: "R-really?"

Ky: "Yeah seeing your scared face while riding that jet would've been priceless."

Ki: "Hmph, you're not going to keep that skull are you?"

Ky: "Heck yeah I am, going to clean it up, glue it to a plaque and hang it up on the wall."

Ki: "Jeez you men and your trophies, oh by the way this came for you."

Kirino handed Kyousuke a large manila envelope that had a large mass in it.

Ky: "Hm, it's from the Tokyo campus, hey maybe it's that money that challenger owes me."

Ki: "Really?! Oh I forgot all about that, open it up and let's see."

So Kyousuke opened up the envelope excited to pull out the large sum of cash though when he did…

Ky: "W-what…the hell…is this?"

Instead of big bundle of legal tender Kyousuke pulled out fist fulls of play money all adding up to one million yen.

Ky: "Is this some kind of joke?"

Ki: "Oooh, sometimes I forget that there is sort of a genie's wish rule when it comes to duel bets, you should always specific down to the last detail, if not your challenger can use that as a loophole to avoid paying out, though here at CHA nobody really takes advantage of that."

Ky: "Are you serious?"

Ki: "Unfortunately yes."

Ky: "So I can't go to the principal or something about this?"

Ki: "Nope the debt was payed as per the exact parameters of your demand, unless you can prove otherwise then there's no appealing it."

Ky: "I lost out on one million yen?"

Ki: "Yep you got screwed."

Kyousuke then got up and carried the envelope out to the firepit where he held it out and burned it to ashes over the coals before he slumped down into one of the surrounding seats.

Ki: "Come on Kyousuke don't be a baby."

Ky: "Haah, if it was just this Kirino I wouldn't be that upset but on top of this our parents recently decided to cut off my allowance."

Ki: "They did?!"

Ky: "Yeah apparently since I'm basically rich with school credits, I didn't need it, meaning soon enough unless I completely live on campus I'm going to be totally broke."

At that moment Kirino had to resist the urge to comfort Kyousuke but instead thought of something else to cheer him up. Ever since the purple mush incident Kyousuke and Ayase decided to train Kirino in the art of cooking and tonight she decided to surprise him with a homecooked meal.

Ki: "Well there's nothing you can do about it now, come on let's eat dinner."

Ky: "You cooked tonight?"

Ki: "Yeah."

Ky: "Um, o-okay then heheheheh."

Ki: "You don't have to sound so nervous."

So Kyousuke sat at the dinner table ready to taste test Kirino's latest attempt at food, though he did have to admit her most recent attempts were at least "edible" so he didn't have to worry about needing medical attention…hopefully.

Ki: "Well here it is?"

What Kirino presented him with was a bowl of homemade ramen (though the noodles were pre-made) complete with a slice of spiral fish cake.

Ki: "Yeah not really anything fancy but it's the best thing I can make."

Ky: "Well let's see how you did."

So Kyousuke took his chopsticks and slurped up some noodles.

Ky: "Hmm."

Ki: "…"

Ky: "…Hm it's actually kind of…good."

Ki: "Really?"

Ky: "It's definitely not amazing but it is satisfying, good job."

Ki: "Phew."

Happy with his reaction Kirino grabbed herself a bowl and they began eating and conversing together.

The Following week

"-with the reconstruction now close to completion authorities have lifted the quarantine on the formerly destroyed area of Tokyo and businesses displaced by the incident can now move back. In other new the record shattering Australian super storm Joshua is still holding its position over Sydney further baffling meteorologists with its strange behavior, so far any camera feed of the area within the storm are highly obscured or completely cut preventing anyone from seeing the destruction wrought upon the city, officials have estimated the storms wind speeds in upwards of three hundred and twenty miles per hour breaking the previous record for highest wind speeds in the world. Recently released satellite imagery has also shown what appears to be a large object at the very center of the Joshua's eye sparking debates on whether to send weather recon crafts in to study it up close though there are rumors that the object could be a new Kaiju class monster."

A day after the broadcast the NOAA Hurricane Hunters gained approval to deploy to Australia to study cyclone Joshua and after a long trek and some refueling, they finally had their weather recon plane above the storm and on coarse towards the eye.

"I…I think I see it, yeah target confirmed."

"What does it look like?"

"…Like two skinny pyramids."

"Let me see."

The crewman took the binoculars and looked over at the cliff edge of clouds to two tall stone triangles, one slightly behind the other, cresting above the eye's rim. While he thought it was odd they did look rather imposing, like monoliths built by ancient enigmatic cultists to summon some kind of cosmic horror and when he looked closer he did notice what looked like craters of varying sizes dotting the entire structure like a moonscape.

"Huh? Movement detected on the starboard side."

"What is it?"

"I don't know it was super fast, like a blur- th-there it is again!"

"Oh those are just Cloud Skimmers, guess a greenhorn like you hasn't seen them yet."

Exposition: Cloud Skimmers are a mutated species of giant crustacean that can reach sizes of up to twenty feet long, have an almost jet fighter like appearance and as their name suggests they are known for flying around inside of dense low flying clouds. Despite their size Cloud Skimmers are actually very light as their shells are mostly hollow, they are also one of the fastest swimmers among mutated marine life and they have special organs that can be used to propel them through clouds if they have a high enough density. Most marine Biologists have concluded that they jump into the clouds to feed on plankton that are carried up by evaporation though others think that since they have also been recorded traveling to the top of storm clouds that they are actually using them for electrosynthesis.

"Don't worry about them, even if one ends up hitting us it shouldn't do much."

"Okay sir."

They continued onward reaching the eye of the storm and getting a full view of the strange object.

"That is freaky."

The object had an artificial looking geometric shape that almost looked like a cocoon with big pointed ears and just like with the top the rest of it was covered with different sized craters making it look like it came from space but the strangest part was that it was levitating few hundred feet above the ocean surface.

"Are you getting this?"

"Yeah every bit, this definitely has to be some kind of kaiju, you think it could be a golem?"

"No the structure is too symmetrical and seamless, almost like it was carved before it was bombarded by tons of debris."

They went on with their study, they detected waves of weak psychic energy emanating from the object and heat within the main body confirming it was alive and indeed controlling the storm but not much else.

"Hmm, no mouth or orifice of any kind, it's definitely not a mutated coral or a golem, perhaps an animate trovant?"

"Trovant? You mean like my pet rock David?"

Exposition (remember this part is optional to read): Before the first Falling Stars Trovants were a mysterious type of stone found in Romania that could grow, move and even reproduce as if it were alive though most scientists concluded that it in fact wasn't. After the Falling Stars a new silicone based mutated lifeform was discovered that hosted all the same behaviors as inanimate trovants (though they have a slightly faster growth time) and thus were named as such. Studies have shown it drawing in nutrients and minerals from the ground and even performing a new form of photosynthesis previously unknown to science proving that it is alive in its own strange way. It's also functionally immortal as similarly to starfish if one is broken even into small pieces you've essentially made a bunch of smaller ones that can continue living and growing just like their predecessor. Though just like its nonliving counterpart its movements are practically unnoticeable without a time-lapse camera so if you put them right next to each other they are impossible to tell apart.

"Probably though this is outside our area of expertise, let's continue collecting data on the storm then we'll head back."

"Man that thing is giving me the willies."

"Yeah, it doesn't have eyes but it almost feels like it's staring right at us."

"Well the faster we get done the faster we can get away from that thing so let's get to work."

{Bang!}

"What was that?!"

{Bang! Bang! Bang!}

"I-It's the Cloud Skimmers, they're attacking us!"

"What the hell?!"

Almost as if on command hundreds of Cloud Skimmers flung themselves from the storm and right at the NOAA plane at high speeds, destroying one wing and smashing the rotors on the other sending the plane tumbling downward.

"MAYDAY! MAYDAY! THIS IS THE NOAA-"

{CRASH!}

It was then the plane crashed into a group of buildings.

"Agh! Dammit!"

"Hey are you okay?!"

"No I broke a few bones, I can't walk, what about the others?"

"They're all dead, we have to get out of here, we're still in the eye so I should be able to get us to a shelter."

"Wait, my laptop, where is it?"

"Now's not the time for that!"

"We need it, I have all the data and footage saved on there, we need to let everyone know what's going on."

"Hmph."

The noncrippled crewman searched the wrecked plane for a few minutes until he found the laptop after which he immediately grabbed it before picking up his friend and rushing through the edge of the eye and by sheer luck made it to a shelter.

Chiba, Japan

Ky: "Another Job well done."

Ki: "You actually did pretty good this time, fighting those higher level monsters is really boosting your skill."

Ky: "Yeah, I'm really feeling it, I think I could take on even more missions."

Ki: "Me too but that's all for today let's go grab a bite."

So the siblings hit up the campus store for some junk food instead of a nearby convenience store due to Kyousuke's financial situation. After microwaving a couple of bento boxes they sat down at one of the indoor dining tables to eat though when they did somebody suddenly walked up to them.

"Ah there you are Kousakas."

Ky: "Ugh, let me guess you're from THA right?"

"Yeah."

Ky: "W-wait you're…"

Standing before them was the black haired beauty Hoshi Kimiko, Akihiko Toyama's girlfriend.

Ky: "You're…who are you again?"

Ho: "Ugh, Hoshi Kimiko."

Ky: "Oh yeah gravity girl."

Ho: "If you ever call me that again, I will kill you."

Ki: "What do you want?"

Ho: "I came to challenge you."

Ky: "Sorry but as you other classmates can tell you I'm not accepting challenges from THA students."

Ho: "Well you're going to have to this time."

Ky: "And why is that?"

Ho: "Because we have your hot tub."

She then presented them with pictures of their hot tub surrounded by several masked individuals and one of them was holding today's newspaper.

Ky: "HOT TUB! But how?!"

Ki: "Okay there's no way you stole our hot tub."

Ho: "If you want to check for yourselves you can go ahead, I'll wait."

So Kyousuke immediately made a mad dash for the dorms with Kirino following behind not really knowing what was going on and when they arrived at the penthouse they saw that their hot tub was indeed missing.

Ho: "Told ya."

Ky: "You monsters!"

Ki: "How the heck did you even do this?!"

Ho: "We have our ways, if you want your stupid hot tub back accept my challenge."

Ky: "Fine, but if I win you assholes promise to never touch anyone or anything I care about ever again."

Ho: "Deal and if I win-"

Ky: "Yeah, yeah I enroll at THA."

Ho: "Let's schedule for tomorrow, give you some time to prepare."

Ky "Alright then."

So Hoshi left Kyousuke to seethe over this transgression though Kirino couldn't help but find the situation kind of ridiculous.

Ki: "So you're really going fight her?"

Ky: "I have no choice."

Ki: "Okay but like Akihiko said she is a gravity manipulator, arguably better than telekinesis in certain aspects, I don't see you doing well against her."

Ky: "Maybe not but I can't leave my innocent hot tub in the hands of those ne'er-do-wells."

Ki: "Ne'er-do-wells? The heck does that mean? Is that English? But still it's just a hot tub, pretty sure the school has insurance if it get's damaged or, uh, stolen, seriously how did they do that?"

Ky: "Still they crossed a line and I'm not just going to let them get away with that, even if I lose at least hot tub will be home."

Ki: "…Oh my fugging god."

The Next Day

So after making sure the hot tub was reinstalled Kyousuke met Hoshi at the CHA duel field with a crowd of students spectating.

Ho: "You ready Kousaka?"

Ky: "As I'll ever be, Kirino?!"

Ki: "Uh, yeah."

Ky: "Take care of the hot tub for me."

Ki: "Seriously why does he care about that thing so much?!"

"Are the participants ready?"

Ky: "Ready."

Ho: "Yeah."

"Now begin!"

At first neither of them moved though Kyousuke was tense while Hoshi was relaxed and indifferent, so Kyousuke decided to make the first move by firing a thermal rifle shot but instead of dodging Hoshi just brushed her foot over the spot of ground in front of her and suddenly a big chunk of dirt flew upward and blocked the shot.

Ho: "Trying to study me are you? Nice strategy but that's only effective against someone that oblivious to it."

Ky: "Well it's kind of the only strategy I've got at the moment so try not to feel too insulted."

Hoshi then brushed her foot over the ground again but it turned out to be a bluff move because in the moment Kyousuke was distracted by her movements Hoshi suddenly flew by him with the speed of a falcon and brushed her hand against his cheek.

Ky: "Wuh?"

{Thud!}

Immediately after she came into contact with him his body suddenly got so incredibly heavy that he was slammed into the ground.

Ky: "Shit!"

Kyousuke tried to lift himself up but it took everything he had just to stay on one knee and the g-forces were quickly causing his vision to fade.

Ho: "Still able to stand up? Guess I'll need to apply more pressure."

Hoshi began to walk up to him and lifted her hand to touch his head but it was then she remembered something and stopped in her tracks.

Ho: "Oh damn, I almost forgot about that explosion thing you can do, guess this'll be a battle of attrition until your body finally gives out from my gravity."

Kyousuke wouldn't be able to hold himself up for much longer so he had to think fast before he passed out, it was then he thought of a something. He placed his hand on the ground making it look like he was giving out but he actually created a thermal rifle projection underground and once it span up enough he released the shot.

{Boowang!}

It fired its initial heat shot along with projectiles of hot dirt and pebbles so it was almost like a shotgun, Hoshi didn't see the move coming so got it full on and was knocked backwards onto her back, taking off a small portion of her health and with her focus released Kyousuke was freed from her gravity.

Ho: "Crap!"

Ky: "Yeah!"

While she was still down Kyousuke decided to take the chance to subdue her but she used her hand to direct a chunk of the ground at his face, Kyousuke dodged but Hoshi was fast using that split second to lunge at him. But Kyousuke dodged again then quickly fired a thermal blast at her side to thrust them apart and with some distance between them they were again at a standoff.

Ho: "That was pretty smart, you're a better fighter than I thought."

Ky: "Don't give me too much credit, I'm just improvising as I go."

Ho: "Really? A hero like that is a liability on the battlefield, a good fighter has to know how to handle any situation that comes at them."

Ky: "Well I'm sorry I don't meet your standards."

Kyousuke then made a risky move by setting off a thermal ice bomb in the ground and using its force to fly forward at great speed towards Hoshi but instead of hitting her directly he went past her and landed just outside of her reach and with a thermal rifle x3 already charged he quickly took aim and fired.

{FwshBANG!}

Though Hoshi was able to act quickly and used her foot to bring up another chunk of dirt to block it and the resulting cloud of dust gave her the opening she needed to punch Kyousuke square in the face.

{Whack!}

Again Kyousuke was blighted by her gravity but this time it was much more intense, he could barely keep himself off the ground, he couldn't move, he had to use all the strength in his arms just to keep himself from being pinned and black-out was coming on faster than before.

Ky: Dammit, I screwed up, this is it, no way I'm getting out of this, my arms will give out, I'll hit the ground and the moderator will give his three count and it's all over.

Ho: "You put up a good fight but there's no avoiding this."

Ki: "Hey Hoshi?"

Ho: "What is it?"

Ki: "Let me tag in."

Ho: "Hm, interesting, you know what that's going to cost right?"

Ki: "I'm aware, ask for whatever you want on top of what you already demanded."

Ho: "Alright then, timeout!"

"Timeout one minute."

So Hoshi released her focus and Kyousuke was freed.

Ky: "Kirino?"

Ki: "Alright come on, you obviously can't handle this so as your partner I'll have to take your place."

Ky: "The heck are talking about?"

Ki: "Just shut up and get out."

Ky: "…You sure you got this, you said before that you can't beat me."

Ki: "Just think of it as a game of rock, paper, scissors, you're the paper to her scissors so now we have to throw rock."

Ky: "Huh?"

So Kirino and Kyousuke switched places and the match continued.

"In this special circumstance where a tag team is against a single fighter the tag team is only allowed to switch out once and should Kirino Kousaka fall then that's the end of the match for both of you, now resume!"

Ho: "So I was thinking for my second demand I'd have your brother as mine and Akihiko's slave for the rest of the school year."

Ki: "Ask for whatever you want, won't change the fact that you're going to lose."

Ho: "Ooh so much confidence, what makes you so sure?"

Ki: "Make the first move and find out."

Ho: "Alright, since you asked for it!"

So Hoshi used her foot to send and chunk of earth flying to Kirino and she didn't dodge, the chunk hit her face full force and a split second after, Hoshi was already in front of her and she landed a slap on her cheek blighting Kirino with 15 Gs.

Ho: "Let's see you handle that."

But it was then that Hoshi noticed that Kirino hadn't collapsed or even faltered in the slightest.

Ho: "What the-"

Before she could react Kirino then grabbed Hoshi by the collar of her shirt and gave her a powerful headbutt that took out an eighth of her health and released the gravity.

Ho: "Gah!"

Hoshi then quickly shifted the gravity on herself and she was pulled away backwards from Kirino.

Ho: "What the hell?! That many Gs should've sent you into instant G-LOC!"

Ki: "Well my body is a little more resilient than most."

Ho: "No way, even if you are a super lifter you should still be as vulnerable to G-forces as any normal person."

Ki: "Well I'm a bit different than most, my muscles and bones are infused with ten times the amount of reinforcing materials as a normal super lifter which is why I'm so strong despite being so petite and not only that, I also have a rare condition where every muscle in my body is infused including my heart."

Ho: "Your heart?"

Ki: "Meaning when necessary my heart is strong enough to continue pumping blood to my brain even during exposure to high g-forces."

Ho: "Well let's see about that."

Hoshi again used her feet to launch a rapid fire of earth chunks but Kirino charged through them but just before she reached her, Hoshi placed her hand on the ground and it rose up like a platform. Hoshi then jumped over Kirino and when she landed, she quickly went into a series of backflips causing more dirt platforms to rise up, some flipped upside down, others on their sides and the rest just right side up.

Ho: "Now I have the advantage."

Hoshi then lunged at Kirino managing to slap her with 18 Gs and get away to one of the platforms before she could grab her, she jumped again moving too fast for Kirino to grab and increased her burden to 22 Gs.

Ho: "You can't catch me weighed down like that, all I have to do is to keep applying pressure until you reach your limit."

She jumped again, increasing Kirino's burden to 28 Gs, then again increasing to 32 Gs and again to 36 Gs. Kirino went down on one knee seeming to buckle under the gravity but she quickly got back up and tracked Hoshi as she jumped between platforms then when her next jump was directed at Kirino she took out a large flat stone though she wasn't discrete and Hoshi saw it. Hoshi quickly shifted her body's gravity sending her directly to the ground and she immediately went into another series of backflips bringing up more platforms and consequently causing a few others to fall back to the ground.

Ho: "Try and hit me now."

The new platforms stayed in place between Hoshi and Kirino blocking line of sight, Hoshi herself was satisfied with her work but Kirino wasn't perturbed as she performed an only slightly provocative vertical leg split baseball pitch.

Ki: "Rock, paper, scissors, SHOOT!"

She the thrust the stone with tremendous force, enough to break the sound barrier.

{Bangbangbangbang}

The stone tore through all the platforms and in the blink of an eye it reached Hoshi catching her off guard and striking her square in the face.

{WHACK!}

Ho: "AGH!"

The stone struck hard enough to wipe out the rest of Hoshi's HP in one hit and with that the match was over.

"Winner Team Kousaka!"

"YEAH!"

"That's our fourth rank."

"The Kousaka siblings can't be stopped!"

Hoshi got up with a pain filled grimace on her face before she glared at Kirino.

Ho: "…"

Ki: "…Bleh~"

Ho: "Tch."

With a click of her tongue Hoshi walked away back to THA.

Ky: "Kirino that was amazing!"

Ay: "You actually beat a THA student!"

Ki: "Yeah, I did, didn't I?~"

Suddenly Kirino began to lose her balance but Kyousuke managed to grab her.

Ky: "Whoa, you okay?"

Ki: "Y-yeah, just a little light headed, my body needs some time to readjust to normal gravity."

Ayase quickly pulled Kirino's arm over her shoulders to support her.

Ky: "Heh, you really saved me, if it wasn't for you I'd be packing my things for THA, thanks."

Ki: "Y-yeah, n-no problem."

Ky: "Now as a reward for your help I'm buying all of us sundaes!"

Uni: "YAAAY!~"

Ky: "Up to a half pound limit."

Uni: "…"

After posing for a picture for the student journalists they all headed to the campus store and the girls went wild at the build-your-own-sundae bar, the rules were one sundae per student per day at a max weight of seven pounds and as a special treat for Kirino, Kyousuke let her get the biggest one she could make.

Ki: "MMMM!~ This is so good!~"

Ky: "Jeez I didn't think you'd go max size."

Ki: "Well you did offer."

Ru: "Kirino I have to say, your fighting style seems to have changed."

Sa: "Indeed, it's become more dynamic, perhaps you've taken a page from Kyousuke's style?"

Ki: "M-maybe."

Ay: "Well yes she was amazing beating such a powerful opponent and I don't mean to sound disrespectful but…all she did was throw a rock."

Ky: "Well yes that is what is seems like at first but then you have to look at the execution, yes she just threw a rock but she threw at super sonic speeds, through several chunks of dense dirt and hit Hoshi in the head with near perfect precision hard enough to wipe out all her points, that takes a lot of skill."

Ay: "I see, when you say it like that throwing a rock does sound pretty amazing."

Ru: "Then you have to compare that to her previous style of just charging in and beating down her opponent."

Ki: "Eh, since I enrolled at CHA I've just been steamrolling over most of the other students with little strategy and I thought that since I've been working so hard that all I needed to do was double down until I made it to the top. Then I saw Kyousuke, total noob, practically zero combat experience and he somehow just zips all the way to the top but after looking back on the way he fought trying to figure out how he did it, I got a wakeup call. If I'm going to make it to top rank before graduation, I need stop trying to power my way through things and start thinking a little more, start seeing different ways I can use my abilities against opponents that I'm otherwise disadvantaged against. So after today's fight with Hoshi I've decided…I'm going to challenge Daiki."

Ky: "…Kirino is your blood starting to pool in you brain?"

Ru: "Beating Hoshi is one thing, you had an advantage against her but Daiki is a whole different monster."

Ki: "Yeah but still it's something I need to do, my super strength is only second greatest weapon, it's about time I start using my imagination."

Sa: "Yes, the imagination truly is the greatest weapon."

Ru: "Damn your stubborn, it's going to get you killed one of these days."

Ky: "I have to agree with Ruri on that."

Ki: "Hmph."

Ky: "But I like how excited you're getting, with that sort of confidence you might just succeed."

Ki: "{blush} Thanks."

So they finished their sundaes and headed to their respective dorms for the evening, when the siblings made it to the penthouse Kyousuke decided sit out next to the firepit and enjoy the sunset and Kirino joined him.

Ki: "Aaah, that sundae was awesome we really have to do that again."

Ky: "Please no."

Ki: "…Hey Kyousuke?"

Ky: "Yeah?"

Ki: "I've been thinking, maybe…maybe we should start breaking down the walls between us."

Ky: "What do you mean?"

Ki: "I mean maybe we can start getting a little closer as siblings, we have been completely estranged from eachother for the past several years."

Ky: "…"

Ki: "Now I'm not saying we act all buddy, buddy right off the bat I just think…maybe…I'm ready to finally put the past behind us and start…l-lo-liking you again."

Ky: "You really want to?"

Ki: "Yeah I know it's pretty weird for me to say that especially after how I've treated you all this time but I really mean it, what do you say?"

Kirino was half expecting Kyousuke to act spitefully and turn down her peace offer though she was also kind of hoping that he would react the same way as in one of her dreams where this very situation transpired and he jumped her with a full on kiss or the other one where he grabbed and bent her over the table and…well you know.

Ky: "…Yeah, I'd like that."

Ki: "Really?"

Ky: "Yeah honestly I always wished we could finally set aside our differences and get along like we used to and since I joined you at CHA I've felt like our relationship has been moving back towards that. I know you haven't been very nice to me but I haven't been the best of big brothers but even in the middle of all that bitterness I still cared about you, heck I would even say…I still loved you."

Ki: "PFKKK!"

Ky: "K-Kirino are you okay?!"

At that moment at hearing Kyousuke utter those words Kirino's heart suddenly felt like it got stabbed and she fell from her seat from the shock. She didn't want to explain to Kyousuke what was coming over her so with her labored breathing and her hand gripping her chest she stumbled to her room.

Ky: "Kirino what's going on?!"

Ki: "IT'S NOTHING I'M FINE!"

She quickly closed the door and pressed her back against it.

Ky: "Kirino are you sure?! You don't sound okay!"

Kirino finally calmed down enough for her voice to come out clearly.

Ki: "I'm fine, just go away idiot!"

Ky: "Haah alright, just send me a message or something if you need anything, I'll get started on dinner, though I'm pretty sure that monster sundae was enough for dinner and breakfast."

After hearing Kyousuke leave Kirino tiredly walked over to her bed and flopped onto it before grabbing her Meruru body pillow and hugging it in a fetal position.

Ki: "Jeez, that idiot, I can't believe he'd just…say something like that, I thought I was about to die there for a second…I love you too, idiot."
