After seeing the horrified look on Hermione's face when Kingsley opened the door, Minerva knew this wasn't good.

But she didn't realize just how far this might push Hermione until she was standing at the entrance of the astronomy tower having chased her charge there.

She saw Hermione leaning over the edge and her eyes widened in horror at what she was witnessing.

As Hermione let go of the railing and leaned forward Minerva yelled out her name but it was too late.

Minerva ran towards the edge that Hermione had tumbled over and whipped out her wand frantically yelling

"ARRESTO MOMENTUM"

She watched as Hermione's body momentarily slowed before hitting the ground hard and laying eerily still.

Minerva ran down the tower and through the halls pushing aside students to get to where Hermione had fallen.

Once she reached the bottom, Minerva momentarily froze as the memory of Albus lying in the same spot came to her mind.

Remembering that this was Hermione and that she had slowed the impact, Minerva made her way to Hermione's side.

She reached down and moved Hermione's hair out of the way to check for a pulse. At first she felt nothing and tears started to make their way down her cheeks. She pushed a little harder and finally felt a faint pulse against her fingers.

With a gasp she shot out a patronus to Poppy as she cradled Hermione's head against her body.

Minerva felt her heart break at what she had witnessed and what would have happened had she not been there.

A loud crack of thunder filled the air as rain started to pour down.

Minerva let herself become soaked as she looked up to the tower.

Looking back at Hermione she made a vow.

Lucius was going to pay.
