Update AN
Hey folks, Seiker here with a bit of an update on this story. Only felt right to bring it up since it's been well over a year since I wrote anything for this and wanted to at least address it.
To cover the first topic, I am NOT killing this version of the story off. In all honestly after busting out two short novels worth of material I needed a break to go and write some other things for a while to avoid burn out on Trill. I do plan to get back to it, but not for a while longer still, partly due to something of a chronic difficulty in easily gliding back into writing something I haven't touched in a long time, which is entirely on me.
But this story is not dead and I will definitely return to it at some point, hopefully before this year is out, we will see, so don't expect TOO much.
The other point of address is also partly WHY I took a break. It wasn't just to avoid burnout, it was also… personal reasons. I will not go into details, nor will I name names, as what happened a couple years ago is by this point water under the bridge, and frankly I stopped caring about it a long while ago. The short of it was running into a… certain side of the fanbase that isn't fond of fics in the style of Trill.
Which is fair. People like what they like, and I never expected a story like Trill to be that well liked with a source material like Symphogear being what it is. I love this show like a lot of people, but very clearly not for the same reasons as some other fans do. And that's fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and what they do or don't like, it isn't my job to say someone is "wrong" for not liking or disliking something for different reasons than myself.
I wrote this story out of passion, out of wanting to explore a "what if?" I thought had merit, and admittedly my first go at it was pretty lackluster even by my own standards at the time. And I still DO feel passionate about it, and like what's come out of my kicking myself in the butt to redo this story from the ground up, even if I can admit there was some bumps along the way now that I've had a couple of years to think it over.
But rather than burn it all down and start again for a second time, I'm going to keep pushing this story forward once I feel ready to write it again. Slowly, most likely, since in the past couple years I have quite obviously gotten to writing other stories again or put out new ones, and I feel I've grown even more as a writer in the meantime, and can do more justice to the series than before by carrying on with this story as it is, to improve it from the groundwork I started it with rather than throw it all out the window.
So… I want to say thanks. To the people in this wonderful fanbase who do like this very-out-of-the-ordinary story for this archive despite its shortcomings, and the very different way it handles our beloved Symphogear users. So I hope when I DO bring this story back, and finish the first saga of the series and prepare to move on into G, everyone who enjoys this can do so again.
So for now, Trill is being declared on an indefinite hiatus, officially. And once I do resume it, this AN chapter will be removed to make space for it.
Until then, for those who read my other fics, I'll see you there. And as always, feel free to hit me up in the PMs if you have any questions or even want to discuss some ideas with me. I'm open to whatever.
