Life with Girls

One-shot

"Dad!"

"Daddy!"

Andrew DeLuca keeps his eyes closed as he continues to lay in his bed. The same thought running through the single father's head, they haven't reached the door yet, they haven't reached the door yet, they haven't reached the door yet. He still has time to sleep, to catch up on the sleep he has missed. He loves his girls, his daughters, really he does but they go through the same thing each morning. Those two are always fighting in the morning, heck, they fight throughout the day. There have been many days when he has gotten phone girls from the girls' school, telling him once again that his daughters have been fighting. He loves those two to death, but they are driving him crazy. He knew raising children wasn't going to be easy, but this is just ridiculous.

"Dad!"

"Daddy!"

The pounding on his bedroom causes a sigh to come out of his mouth. They have reached his door, they are pounding on his door. It is only a matter of time. It is only a matter of time before those two barges into his room, yelling and shouting both of them trying to explain why, oh, why they are fighting this time. This is it, he has had enough of these two fighting every single day.

Andrew sighs and climbs out of his bed, taking a brief second to throw on a pair of sweatpants and a t-shit before making his way to his door. The second he opens the door, those two of are at it, both of them trying to explain what they are fighting about this time, each of them getting louder and louder trying to explain over the other, just like every other day.

"Okay, okay, enough!" Andrew shouts over his two daughters. "Enough! I have had enough of the two of you fighting all the time! I want both of you to go downstairs and sit at the kitchen table, peacefully and quietly, until I come downstairs."

Neither one of them says anything as they make their way back downstairs. Andrew closes the door and lets out a deep sigh while running a hand over his face. They really are driving him crazy. He doesn't waste another second, he gets dressed and makes his way downstairs, to the kitchen table.

"Alright, you two, I have had enough of this fighting every single day, from this point on you two are grounded," Andrew says, trying to keep his temper in check. "No going out. No hanging out with friends. Nothing for the next three weeks. Right after school, both of you will come to the hospital and leave until my shift is over, understood?"

Both of them nod, each of them not daring to speak.

"Good, now go get ready and each of you gets three books and whatever homework you have to do this weekend, you are coming to the hospital with me today and I don't want to hear any complainants out of either of you."

Andrew watches as his two daughters silently walk away and upstairs. He hates to be the bad guy, he really does, but he is the only parent around for those two girls. He has to do it.
