"Elsa?"
The platinum-blonde turned her head to see her sister. "Anna? And the soccer game?"
Anna sat carefully next to Elsa with a gloomy expression. "I had my part of amusement for today."
"Okay." Elsa felt her sister wanted to talk about something. So she waited silently.
Anna leaned on her sister's shoulder, looking for comfort. "How is it?"
"What?" Elsa inquired. Anna's tone was worrying. She didn't recognize her sister.
Anna closed her eyes. She wasn't sure herself but she needed to let it out. "To be loved by someone."
Elsa slightly moved her eyes to glance at Anna. Despite her closed eyes, you couldn't miss her sadness. Elsa didn't know what to say. First she wanted to remind Anna that she's only fourteen, that she had time. But it felt too shallow. What could she say as the oldest sister? Usually it was Anna who consoled her. Usually Anna was just happy with her presence. But they were still both growing up and some of the paths they took were different.
So she chose to be honest. "It's a wonderful feeling. Anything feels possible because you know that person thinks about you the same way you think about them. There is no expectation, just trust. There is no fear because there is no disappointment. Everything that person does just makes you happy. Even the stupidest thing. So you act stupid, even more stupidier to hear them smile, to see their smile." Elsa slowly caressed her sister's hand as she explained her new feelings.
Anna listened to her carefully. Yes, that's exactly what she wanted. But Hans wasn't the one who could give her that. After observing all those couples today, she was now certain. The way her sister gazed at Honeymaren and the way she gazed back at Elsa was totally different from the way Hans looked at her, when he actually looked at her. You couldn't play with love. It is here or it's not. "Thanks, Elsa. I know what to do."
Elsa smiled sadly. Her mother was right. Anna needed to understand by herself. She put her sister in a tight hug to give her all the courage in the world. "I'll be by your side, no matter what."
"I know Elsa. I know." And yet… Anna knew Elsa would never be able to keep that promise. She couldn't follow her sister in the last path she took. But for the meantime, she would enjoy her sister's embrace and warmth. Because despite what she thought, Elsa Arendelle felt really warm. Like home.
They both returned to their group a few minutes later. Anna decided to break up with Hans after the last competition.
Outside the DunBrochs, everyone returned to the gymnasium. Merida's little brother needed his afternoon nap and her older brothers had other appointments. Merida seemed a little tired too but she wanted to see Honeymaren's performance.
"I really had fun today with everyone!" Charlotte's enthusiasm was actually endearing, Elsa thought, while they all sat in the tribune.
"I agree!" Rapunzel replied. "It would be sad to stop there. Are you all free next Friday night?"
"Why?" Anna asked, curious and excited at the same time.
"For a pyjama party! It's been a long time." Rapunzel suggested, glancing at everyone.
"A pyjamas party? It sounds fun." Hans said, staring at Anna who felt unease.
"Boys are not allowed in those parties." Cassandra warned in a tone that didn't leave any room for negotiation.
"Oh! Of course, I know. I was just happy for Anna." Hans tried to justify.
"Sure." Flynn reacted.
"If Tiana is in, I am too!" Charlotte was the first to answer.
"As long as it's over the next day before noon, I'm in." Tiana said.
"Sure, no problem." Rapunzel retorted. "You'll be there for me?" She asked Cassandra.
"Why not? It's not like I have better things to do but baby-sit you on a Friday night." The short-brown haired girl said with her usual sarcastic tone.
"Can I?" Anna asked her parents with hopeful eyes.
"If your sister comes, we allow it." Her mother decided with no room for discussion.
But Elsa wasn't so sure. Staying all night with so many people seemed like a nightmare. Yet, that meant, if Honeymaren agreed, staying with girlfriend all night. "Okay."
"Yeah!" It was difficult to say who shouted first. Anna or Rapunzel.
"Oh! What about you?" The chestnut girl turned to Alice who stayed silent.
"I'm waiting for Honeymaren's answer." She only said, looking everywhere but at Elsa.
The platinum-blonde felt a dangerous wind growing inside her. She was about to speak harshly when Tiana interrupted her.
"Oh! Do any of you know about kendo? What's so different with aïkido?"
Elsa glared at Tiana. She wasn't duped with her weak way to divert her attention. "I thought her feelings were clear? Why is she still seeking MY girlfriend?" Elsa's voice was low, very low but threatening.
Her father was startled. He never saw her like that. Her mother seemed neutral but her eyes followed Elsa with sternness. Anna knew Elsa could get angry but this was new. This time, it felt like she wanted to hurt someone. The sister she knew would never do or want any harm to anyone.
"I have every right to look. Honeymaren never asked me to stop liking her. Just that she wasn't interested in me. Is it wrong to want to see the one you like?"
"Well, she has a point. It's like window shopping?" Flynn tried to lighten the mood.
Alice felt less innocent and timid to Elsa. She shouldn't have let her guard down because of her baby face. She suddenly stood up from her seat and s-
"Hmm. Elsa?"
The platinum-blonde immediately recognized her girlfriend's voice. Her gloomy eyes lighted up suddenly when she saw her. "You're here!" She closed their distance and kissed her undoubtedly.
"I like this welcome." Honeymaren stated. She then stared at Elsa's parents. "Can I kidnap her for a few minutes? I heard the elixir of love can do some miracles."
"Oh my! You're such a sweet talker!" Iduna watched her husband with a smile. "She reminds me of someone."
"Who's that?" Agnarr asked innocently. "The king and the queen of Arendelle allow the kidnapping." He winked at Honeymaren who smiled back shyly and thanked them.
"Let's go before they change their mind." Elsa drove her girlfriend out of everyone's sight.
"Feeewww. We avoid a big crisis!" Flynn wiped his forehead with relief.
"Maybe you should talk with Alice." Naveen whispered in Tiana's ear.
"Yes. I will." Tiana replied with a sigh. She really didn't expect that situation. Honeymaren was too nice to reject Alice harshly. Elsa was unable to accept any threat to her relationship. And Alice was still too hopeful. It was a recipe for disaster. She needed to find a solution. Fast.
Honeymaren showed the cloakroom to Elsa while explaining the goal of today's match. They were alone for a few minutes at least. Her teammates were still on the road. The brown-haired girl escaped the lunch a little earlier to see her girlfriend. She missed her more than she could admit it.
They were facing each other while sitting on a bench between the lockers and Elsa was listening to her religiously. Because she liked her voice, her face, her smile and everything else. However she was also curious about the sport itself.
"So, if I understand well. This match is actually a closing for last season?"
"Exactly!" Honeymaren was really happy to share her hobby with Elsa. She didn't expect that much from their relationship. Wasn't she too lucky right now? "I can lose, I can win. It won't impact the new season that is starting this fall."
"But you will win!" It felt like an order from Elsa.
"But I will win." Honeymaren repeated with spirit. She wasn't speaking from arrogance. Fortunately for her, her opponent was below her level.
"And which technique will you use today?" Elsa asked curiously.
Honeymaren's smile became mischievous. "You shall see."
"What is there to hide?" A third voice entered the room. It was Mulan, announcing the arrival of the whole team, soon enough.
"Mind your own business." Honeymaren replied in a petulant way to Elsa's surprise.
A good one. "So you can be childish too." Elsa made sure her voice revealed her approval. "I like that."
"You do?" It was Honeymaren's turn to be astonished.
"Yes. I mean, I like the reliable you." Elsa came closer so their forehead touched. "But I'm not perfect and I'm not looking for a perfect person either. I want to know the real you and I want to share the real me with you. That's what I feel when I'm with you."
Honeymaren's smile grew. "You can be a sweet talker too."
Elsa was about to reply back when they heard a cough. "I'm still here and I can hear everyone coming back so-"
"Yeah, I know." Honeymaren stood up and helped her girlfriend do the same. "I'll present you to the team another day. It the first match for a few of them so they might be a little stressed and-"
"I understand." Elsa cut her with a kiss. "I'll cheer you on from the tribune. Good luck!"
"Thanks." Honeymaren kissed her back tenderly before watching her leave.
"Well, this time you fell deeply!" Mulan opened a locker next to her friend with a mixed expression. "Beware, Honey! Despite her words she looks like the independent type."
Honeymaren could not reply to her friend's warning as their coach and the rest of the team entered inside. But she didn't need the warning. Like Mulan said she was already deeply in love. No matter what happens, there was no coming back from her feelings.
Elsa sat between her sister and mother. She was excited and apprehensive at the same time. She wished to know sooner that she could be there for her girlfriend today. She read a lot of things about aikido on the internet and in the library. Apparently there were two forms. One non competitive and one competitive. She wanted to ask more questions but they lacked time.
"Finally, it's starting!" Merida couldn't stay on her seat and stood at the front row to have a better view.
The two teams entered at the same time at each side of the tatami, facing each other with respect. The referee explained some generalities before calling the first two opponents.
"Honeymaren seemed to be fifth. How long does combat take?" Anna asked.
But Elsa had no ideas. Fortunately, Merida heard her from her place. "It's over before it starts. Aikido is self-defence."
"Okaaay. I totally don't understand." Anna replied sarcastically.
"Just watch." Cassandra advised.
And the first combat started. Although it wouldn't help Anna to understand the second and the third one. As they were all different.
In the first one, people fight with bare hands using aikido techniques. The winner was the one who succeeded in most techniques. The second fight involved one person with a false knife, apparently it was a foam knife, and an armless person. The winner was the one who blocked the most attacks or succeeded in most. And the third combat was more like a show. Each opponent showed techniques and some judges gave a note. Like in ice skating, the one with the bigger score won.
Rapunzel didn't always agree with the judges and shared it loudly. "What! No, the blue team was better!"
"I don't know why I'm asking but what are your criterias?" Cassandra found the score totally fair, unlike her friend.
"Well, they smile better. Smiling is important too." The chestnut girl was totally serious.
"No. It is not." Cassandra closed the conversation. She didn't want an essay from Rapunzel about why smiling was a gift to the world.
"Okay, so if I understand well, your friend will either fight with a knife or against it?" Naveen seemed actually taken with the competition too.
"Against." Tiana answered. "Her favorite position. She was lucky with the draw."
"A draw? When? I saw nothing. Elsa?" Agnarr turned to his daughter expecting an explanation.
But she didn't have one. It made her uneasy. There were too many things she didn't know about Honeymaren. She felt ashamed and angry at the same time. Why did she refuse to answer her before?
"Oh, it's done before the competition. A few weeks before, so players can train." Tiana said to everyone.
"It seems that Mulan won." Charlotte noticed, putting everyone's attention back to the tatami.
"That's great!" Flynn applauded with both hands.
Finally, it was Honeymaren's turn. Elsa wished she stared at her direction but she understood she needed to concentrate. So she tried to send all of her feelings by thoughts. As foolish as it was, she hoped it worked. It was like a prayer : I'm here for you and there with you.
Maybe the Northuldra girl heard her because she quickly glanced at Elsa right before the referee launched the fight.
Her opponent wasn't good with his techniques but had a lot of strength.
"How can a guy fight a girl? That's degrading!" Hans said with a disgusted face, next to Anna.
Everyone found his remark unwelcomed but Iduna was the first to react. "Degrading for who? What is the reasoning behind that?"
Unaware of Iduna's disapproval, Hans calmly explained his point of view about the necessity for women and men to keep their roles. He didn't see anything wrong with it. His family worked like that.
"Okay dude. Just shut up." Flynn put his hand on Hans' shoulder. From afar it looked friendly but he actually put a lot of pressure to force the redhead boy to not reply.
Elsa wasn't really listening. She counted every point Honeymaren won against her opponent. It seemed that her technique was much better and so was her speed.
Maybe it was a little overconfidence, or just the joy of being near the end of her fight, but Honeymaren actually dared to stare at the bleachers, smiling to Elsa while she was blocking the last attack. After avoiding the knife, she caught his arm from behind and stroked his wrist with an opened fist. She sighed with relief when she heard the last gong and offered a hand to her opponent. She didn't like the competition in aikido but that was the only dojo that could accommodate her agenda.
Honeymaren gazed again at Elsa while she put her hand on her heart. Well winning for the girl you like wasn't so bad, she thought. She could do that every week, actually.
Inside the tribune, a platinum-blonde girl felt really hot while her cheeks reddened.
"Woo, woo! Someone really wants to get laid ton- Oopsie..." It was too late for Flynn to remember that Elsa's parents were still there.
"And it clearly won't be you." Cassandra said with a mocking grin.
Flynn preferred to laugh while Rapunzel smiled at him fondly.
Everyone gathered at Halima's coffee shop. Elsa and Anna's parents left right after congratulating Honeymaren. But the teenagers wanted to enjoy the day and the night longer.
They found a table big enough for all of them at the end of the coffee restaurant. With a bench on one side and chairs on the other. Elsa knew Honeymaren would prefer to sit on the bench with all the effort she put in today but the Northuldra girl chose a chair instead.
"Are you sure you won't be more comfortable on the bench?" Elsa asked.
"Yeah. Otherwise, we'll be too close to other people." Honeymaren explained while bringing Elsa's chair closer to hers with one hand.
"Wow! You're strong!" Elsa was quite surprised. In a good way. Then she leaned on her girlfriend's ear to whisper. "Why is it wrong to be physically close to them?"
Elsa noticed a sad smile on Honeymaren's face. "I think I made a mistake with Alice. I should have been meaner, but I don't know how." The Northuldra girl was watching the ground, avoiding her girlfriend's look. "Please, don't say I told you."
"I won't." Elsa tenderly put a hand on Honeymaren's one. "You know, sometimes kindness can be crueler than meanness." She kept stroking her girfriend's fingers to sway her mood. "Let me deal with Alice, I know what to do."
"Oo-kay." Honeymaren wasn't so sure but she cowardly didn't want to take care of this kind of problem.
She will regret it later.
"So why are Hans and Anna still outside?" Rapunzel wondered while drinking her tea.
"It looks like a break up." Cassandra splitted out, watching outside the storefront.
"What!" Everyone shout. The ones who sat on the chairs turned their heads to follow Cassandra's look.
"Finally!" Merida spoke.
"But it's been what…" Flynn started to count on his fingers.
"Three weeks and it's finally over." Merida completed.
"Three weeks. That is fast!" Charlotte commented. "I hope it will be much longer for both of you." She said, staring at Elsa and Honeymaren.
"They haven't kissed in three weeks. It was bound to fail." Rapunzel added in a dull tone.
"My! Really?" Naveen glanced at Tiana for a confirmation. He was in disbelief. "Why dating?" He soon regretted his question as most of the girls glared at him. "No- I mean- Well- Please help me!" He stared at Flynn for some male support but it was useless as the brown-haired man whistled in the air as if he couldn't hear him.
"Oh, leave him alone! He's not exactly wrong. What about you two by the way? Any French kisses yet?" Cassandra chose to divert the conversation towards Elsa and Honeymaren. She was quite curious. What kind of girlfriend Elsa was.
Elsa and Honeymaren suddenly found their drinks quite fascinating.
"Is your chocolate fine?"
"Yes it is. How is your smoothie?"
"Fine too. Want a sip?" Honeymaren proposed.
"Sure." Elsa started to drink on the same straw her girlfriend just used, unwared of people's looks.
"They did it."
"Yeah."
"Yes."
"No doubt."
Elsa was so ashamed by the sudden attention that she inadvertently drank all of Honeymaren's smoothie, who couldn't be mad at her and just smiled cheerfully. She was too smitten by the sight.
It was the moment Anna went back, alone.
"Anna, sit there!" Merida couldn't hide her joy and her wide smile.
"Don't be too sad for me." Anna replied sarcastically while sitting next to her friend. "So I guess you all understood."
"You did the right thing." Tiana encouraged her.
Everyone approved.
"Yeah, I know." She didn't exactly renounce love but she needed to find the right person. And it wasn't Hans. "What did I miss?"
Rapunzel was more than happy to narrate everything while Elsa wished she had another drink to hide behind.
After one hour, everyone parted their ways. Merida proposed a ride to Anna with her bike, who accepted so Elsa could stay alone with Honeymaren for a few more hours. It was only the start of evening.
Hi, sorry for the delay. I thought that chapter was already updated. I will be back soon with a new chapter. Thanks for reading.
As for the annoying guest with annoying reviews, you know you can stop reading. Anna is an important part of Elsa's life. They are still in high school, so it will stay like that for some time. She's a teenager girl and has every right to be clingy to her big sister who pays no mind to it.
And as an Elsanna fan, I just find them cute whatever they do. So bear with it or find a new story. There are pleanty of them.
