Been a while since I did one of these, but after the season finale, I think this is warranted to give my fellow Milolissa shippers a new spark. I'm setting this one at Melissa's parents' vow renewal - both Milo and Melissa are 7 here. ROLL IT!
Timestamp - April 4, 2009. This was a special day in the Chase family as today, Adrian and Pepper Chase would renew their vows as husband and wife. Melissa's aunt Linda and great aunt Tiana were keeping her mom busy while preparations were being completed. Inside Melissa's room, 7 year old Melissa Sabrina Chase was seen in a short, purple dress and red flats. She was also quite miffed at her role today.
"Why do I have to be the flower girl, dad?" the precocious young ginger asked. "Why couldn't I have been one of the bridesmaids?"
Her firefighter/paramedic father placed a hand on her shoulder. "Melissa, you're a little too young to be a bridesmaid," her father told her. "Besides, everyone loves a cute, precocious flower girl."
Melissa scoffed. "Whatever, dad."
"Besides, Melissa...that friend of yours is gonna be there! Who knows? Perhaps you and Milo will end up catching the bouquet and garter!"
Melissa thought about that possibility and the superstition behind it. It's been said that who so ever catches the bouquet and garter is all but destined to be the next couple married.
"ACK! Dad! That's just gross!" Melissa said, grossed out and flinching.
"Just wait 'til you get older, Melissa."
Meanwhile, a few doors down at the Murphy household...
...7 year old Milo Murphy was preparing for the Chase vow renewal as well. He was seen in a black suit and blue bow tie with black loafers.
"Sara, I look like a dork!" Milo called out to his 11 year old sister.
"Dork or not, you gotta wear this, little bro. Your best friend invited you to her parents' vow renewal, don't you want to look nice for her?"
"Sara! Melissa's just my best friend! She's not my girlfriend! That's just gross!"
Sara smiled. "You think that now, Milo - but just wait until you hit middle school, maybe even high school. You're gonna be thinking about girls almost every day, little bro!" the blonde warned, much to the disgust of her little brother.
"ARGH! I did not need to hear that, Sara!" Milo said, running off.
Later that afternoon, Milo and Melissa found themselves at Marsh Manor. This was where Adrian and Pepper Chase were set to renew their vows.
"'Lissa!" Milo called out to his best friend.
"Milo!" Melissa answered as the duo ran up to each other and hugged. "You look very handsome tonight, Milo!" Melissa said, causing Milo to blush.
"And you look beautiful, Melissa..." Milo answered, inciting a blush from Melissa. "So, are you going to be in this?"
"Yeah. I'm the flower girl," Melissa said with a sneer. "Wanted to be a bridesmaid, but dad told me I was too young for that."
"Now that's all kinds of wrong!"
"Tell me about it!"
Their talk was cut short as Milo's parents and sister called him over. The ceremony was about to begin.
"Gotta jet, 'Lissa. You wanna meet up inside for the reception?" Milo asked.
"It's a...what do you call it when a boy and girl make plans with each other?"
"My sister calls it a date."
"That's it! It's a date, Milo!" Melissa confirmed as Milo took his seat next to Sara and Melissa took her position as flower girl. During the ceremony, Milo and Melissa thought to themselves 'What did we get ourselves into?'
'I don't like her like that!' Milo thought to himself as the priest read off his spiel.
'I don't like Milo like that!' Melissa thought to herself as her parents recited their vows.
'We're too young for all that! Are we?' They asked themselves as the vows were exchanged.
Afterwards, Milo and Melissa met up near the buffet table.
"Hey, 'Lissa," Milo greeted. "I had the craziest thoughts during the vows."
"Same here, Milo," Melissa added.
"I JUST THOUGHT ABOUT US AS A COUPLE!" Milo and Melissa said in unison.
"Wait! You too?" They did it again!
Right then and there, Melissa's parents threw the bouquet and garter. Both items bypassed the crowd entirely with the bouquet landing right in Melissa's arms and the garter hooking onto Milo's shoulder.
"This is too weird!" Milo and Melissa once again said in unison.
"I guess we know who's getting married next!" Mr. Chase said to his wife.
"Watch them hook up in high school, Adrian..." Mrs. Chase deadpanned as the first song of the night played. It was 'You Snuck Your Way Right Into My Heart' by Love Handel. Once it started, something inside Milo just snapped. He had this strange feeling that told him to ask Melissa to dance with him.
"You, uh, wanna dance, Melissa?" Milo asked, holding his arm out.
Melissa immediately took Milo by the hand. "I'd love to, Milo," she said as they walked onto the dance floor. During their dance, Milo and Melissa held each other close, unaware that their parents were taking pictures. By the song's end, Melissa did something she never saw herself doing only hours before - she pecked Milo on the cheek!
"Melissa..."
"You were amazing, Milo..." Melissa whispered.
"So were you, Melissa," Milo answered. "Shall we get something to eat now?"
"Of course, Milo!"
At the end of the night, with everyone on the way home, Milo and Melissa thought to themselves, now with bouquet and garter in hand 'Milo and Melissa...has a wonderful ring to it. Someday, I'll make that a reality.'
There it is! The latest Milolissa short! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Stay tuned for the next one and remember...
IT'S MILO'S WORLD AND WE'RE ALL LIVING IN IT!
