Chapter 3: Loving Always

So as I said before I am sitting next to a tree right next to his grave. I come here every once in a while for maybe like thirty minutes or so just sitting, drawing, or maybe singing his absolute favorite song that he loved to hear me sing, but today I've been here for nearly three hours. Today I'm drawing but every once in a while I'll look up and start a one way conversation.

"Well things have gone pretty normal here. The pups have definitely kept me busy. Kinda wish you were here but they do know about you. They constantly ask me or the others to tell stories about you." I said smiling as I then sighed and my smile somewhat faded. "I have tried to find someone to love again but it's hard because you're the only one I truly loved." I said as my mind went to one last memory of two years ago.

Few Weeks Later

So here I am, I'm just a few days from the pups due date. I've progressed very well from what Katie told me. It's gotten difficult at times but the others have helped me especially John, Christine, and my mom. My dad still has issues with me. He says things like 'If you listened to me' or 'I told you'. I guess he doesn't realize that these are his grand pups and that I am feeling bad about the whole thing. Chase was my husband after all. Anyway it's three days from the due date and despite the slight pain of loss, I am excited for them to finally arrive. Plus when they kick it hurts but I don't mind. That night I was laying in my bed when I suddenly felt a shock of pain go through me. Pressing my puptag I quickly called Katie.

"Hello?"

"Katie could you possibly come in here? I am feeling a lot of pain and I don't know what it is."

"Yeah I'll be there really quick."

"Okay." I said as I ended the call but as I did another jolt of pain went through me. At that moment Katie came in.

"Okay let me see. Have you felt anymore pain?"

"Yes I felt one right after the call."

"Okay let's see. Yep you are in labor. Let's get you to the medical room." She said as she picked me up and took me across the hall and to the medical room. When we got there my mom was already there.

"How is she, Katie?" She asked.

"She's good. It was just confirmed that she is in labor. I just need to get a few things ready."

"Okay." Mom said as she got in front of me. "Okay Skye I'm here. Everything will be all right."

"Okay but is it really this painful?" I cried as it continued to progress.

"Yes but it will be all right. I made it through with you and your sister."

"Yes but you also had dad with you. My husband isn't here."

"It's okay. I'm here and you'll do just fine."

"Okay Skye are you ready?"

"No."

"Well, you're here anyway so when I say to, I need you to push." She said. "Okay now." She said as I pushed my hardest then released. "Okay do it again. One of them is almost here." She said after a couple more. A couple minutes later the one came out. "Got it. It's a girl." She said as she quickly wiped that one off then set her right beside me but I couldn't see her with m eyes closed while I was in a lot of pain.

"You can do this. One more to go to go then you're through." My mom said.

"Now." Katie said as I pushed a few more times. "Okay I need you to give me one more big push. This last one is almost here." After she said that despite the pain I pushed really hard and then I released. "Got it. It's a boy." She said as I breathed a sigh of relief so thankful that it was over and I had my two pups with me.

"See you did it and without Chase." Mom told me.

"Mom please don't go there." I said as I looked away trying not to start crying again.

"Sorry but think of it this way. You're now a mother to a girl and a boy." She said as Katie handed me my pups and I looked at them for the first time. Oh, how cute hey are. Hopefully Chase can see us and is looking down at us. Hopefully he is proud of me.

"What are you going to name them?" Katie asked as I couldn't take my eyes of them as I smiled.

"Well the boy is easy. I decided to name him Chase Carter after his wonderful father and the girl was a bit harder but I decided on the name Kaylee Dawn."

"What adorable names. Chase would be so proud." Mom said as I smiled.

"Yeah. For now I'm just going to call him Carter."

"Whatever you choose is fine. You will be a great mother."

"Thank you."

"Anytime. Now we'll just leave you to sleep and get your strength back." Katie said as she and mom started to head out of the room.

"Okay goodnight." I said as hey turned off the lights and shut the door and I fell asleep with Kaylee and Carter next to me.

Well now that that last event is out of the way you all know what happened. Kaylee and Carter have definitely been a handful but I've managed with some help. As I was sitting there drawing, my puptag suddenly lit up.

"Hello?" I asked putting down my book.

"Hey Skye. It's me Ryder."

"Hey Ryder. What's up?"

"Just wondering where you are. You've been gone for nearly three hours."

"Oh shoot. Sorry Ryder I've been in town and I guess I lost track of time." I said looking up and saw it was almost dusk as a fog nearly covered the cemetery.

"That's fine. By the way Kaylee and Carter are awake from their nap and are wanting you."

"Okay I'll be there as soon as possible."

"Okay see ya."

"See ya." I said as I started packing everything up. As I was packing up I noticed a figure sitting by the lamppost. Seeing as it was almost dark I found it strange that someone else would be here as well. "Hello?" I called out with no answer. "Hey do you need help?" I asked as I again got no response or movement from the figure. Slowly walking over to him I noticed it was a dog. Or at least the spirit of a dog. "Hello are you all right?" I asked again and this time the dog jumped up and was scared.

"Aahh." He said as he disappeared.

"Wait don't go." I said hoping he would come back which he did but he peeked out from the tree.

"Wait you-you can s-see me?" He asked stuttering while still behind the tree.

"Uh I guess so. Wait do most people not see you?"

"Yeah I try to say hi but they walk on by." He said as he walked out from behind the tree and I could see him better now. I couldn't tell what breed he was though.

"That's said."

"Yeah. Though I have seen you here more than others here."

"Really?"

"Yeah. You always sit under that tree and do different things. I've always wondered if you would see me or not."

"Well this is my first time seeing you."

"Oh."

"But enough of that. What's your name?"

"Uh this is going to sound crazy, but I don't remember my name."

"You don't?"

"No. You see after you die you're allowed to come down in the form of a ghost and you have the opportunity to come back to life."

"Really?! How do you do that?"

"Well you have to gain all your memories back in order to be raised back to life."

"That is so cool."

"Yeah. So why do you hang around that tree a lot? A girl as beautiful as you normally wouldn't be in a place like this." He said as I giggled a little at the beautiful comment.

"You're right that normally girls like that don't do this but my husband is buried right in front of there." I said sadly.

"Oh. I am so sorry for your loss. How did he die if you don't mind me asking."

"It's okay. He got killed while trying to track down a gang cell. He was a police dog."

"Oh okay. I'm sure he died to protect you. Am I right?"

"Yeah. He was always so protective of me and that is one of the many things I loved about him." I said smiling while thinking on all the times he went out of his way just to protect me.

"That sounds wonderful."

"It was. So what should I call you?"

"Call me?"

"Yeah. You know. What should your name be?"

"Oh well I don't know."

"Hmm. How about Luke?"

"Luke. Yeah. I like that name."

"Then Luke it is."

"Okay. So what were you doing before you saw me?"

"Oh I almost forgot. I was about to head back to where I live." I remembered suddenly.

"Oh really."

"Yeah. I have to get home to my children."

"You're a mother?"

"Yeah to two pups. You can meet them if you want. They probably won't see you but you can see them."

"Really. You would let me see where you live."

"Yeah I wouldn't mind."

"Okay. Then I would love to go."

"Then let's go." I said as we started walking out. When we got to the entrance of the cemetery I exited but then I noticed that Luke stopped before exiting. "What's wrong Luke?"

"Sorry. I just have never been out of the cemetery before."

"You haven't?"

"No. I never really ever had a reason to."

"Well it will be fine. Think of it as an adventure."

"Adventure huh. I like adventures."

"And see you're starting to remember things."

"Huh. Oh I guess I am. Okay here I go." He said as he took a deep breath and stepped out. "I did it. I did it." He said excitedly.

"Yes you did. Now let's get going."

"Okay." Luke said as we continued on.

And here it is chapter 3. I do want to apologize for taking so long to get this next chapter out. Life has just been crazy busy for me and I haven't had time to update this story but don't worry I'm still alive and still active in this story even if I don't seem like it.
