The Lyoko Warriors had entered Link Vrains with the former members of the Knights of Hanoi to figure out their names and also to try and get some practice duels in. But due to being beginners the Lyoko Warriors along with Hiroki are practicing hard against the former Knights, but are not getting an easy road to say the least.
"Sunvine Thrasher, attack Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Buffalo!" Specter called as his monster destroyed Odd's sending him crashing to his back as his life points dropped to zero.
Odd slowly went to get back before Varis said to him, "You still need some work."
"Yeah, I guess that's true." Odd nodded as he looked up only to see Hiroki cry out as Baira's monster sent him flying where a defeated Yumi caught him.
"I told you not to expect me going easy because your a kid." Baira reminded Hiroki.
Hiroki only gets out of his sister's arms asking, "Well still cut me some slack, I'm new to this game."
"Going easy will have a negative effect." Baira pointed out to him before saying, "Try again."
Hiroki frowned but nodded.
"Motor Worm Spreader Queen, attack them both directly!" Faust called as his monster attacked Ulrich and William wiping out both of their life points at the same time.
"This... is going badly." Pink Angel frowned.
"Everything doesn't start being good at this." Kiyoshi told his niece, "They have a long road ahead of them."
"That's true." she nodded before frowning. "I wish we could do something for you uncle."
"Right now, the only thing that you can do, is assist me in destroying the Ignis. Here in the Link VRAINS, I'm capable of doing several things but out in the real world, I'm powerless as my body is shut down." Kiyoshi mentioned to her, "So I'll be depending on your Lyoko Warriors, and my son's former Knights of Hanoi to manage things here, and in the real world."
She nodded before hugging him with a few tears. Kiyoshi blinked at this surprised from this.
"We should have stayed together... then maybe none of this would have happened to you or my father." she whispered sadly. "He wouldn't have had to give up his life."
Kiyoshi stayed before slowly embracing her back. After a moment she let go before wiping her eyes. "I should probably get some practice too."
Pink Angel walked over to Varis at that only for William and Baira to both log out.
"Where did they went off too?" Jeremy asked looking like a computer programmer avatar seeing that.
"William was talking about looking at the cards again to see if he could find something else. Baira went with him since she knows the game and could give him advice." Ulrich answered only to pause. "While we wait for them though, we really should think of names for when we're in here like Aelita did."
"That's a good point, and it can give us a break from getting beaten over and over again." Odd agreed only to grin. "So are you going with Einstein Jeremy?"
"Very funny." Jeremy glared at Odd in annoyance, "I like to go with something, I want to go with."
"That makes sense." Yumi nodded.
"I had thought about Professor Program. Considering what my avatar is, and all..." Jeremy said looking over himself.
"That works." Ulrich mentioned looking at his avatar. "I guess I could just go with Samurai?"
"Nah, that might be a little boring." Hiroki admitted honestly shaking his head, "Maybe take in the name from a real Samurai or something like a Japanese Word for a fighter?"
"You mean like that Nobunaga guy?" Ulrich asked. "He was a Samurai right Yumi?"
"Yeah, and also a big Warlord at that time." Yumi answered remembering her history, "He was also betrayed by his retainer Mitsuhide in Honnō-ji in Kyoto for unknown reason. Honestly your more like Kanetsugu Naoe from that era."
"So... Kanetsugu then?" Ulrich asked her.
She nodded deciding that would be best.
"Well, I think... Senpū for me." Hiroki mentioned.
"The Japanese word for whirlwind, fitting since you're using a wind deck." Aso noted.
"What bout you?" Professor Program asked Odd.
"Panther maybe? I mean, what else fo you call a giant purple cat?" he asked.
"Purple Lion?" Hiroki joked.
"Right..." Odd mentioned. "What about you Yumi?"
"I don't know..." Yumi admitted, "I'm more like a female version of Mitsunari."
"So... what would that be?" Ulrich inquired.
"How bout Hana Ishida?" Hiroki suggested with a small grin, "Hana is Japanese for Flower."
Yumi glared at him before sighing. "Alright."
"It fits..." Ulrich admitted to his girlfriend.
A while back like Pink Angel, and Professor Program, Ulrich had managed to work up his courage to ask Yumi out which she accepts without hesitation.
"So we have Pink Angel, Professor Program, Panther, Hana Ishida, Senpū, and Kanetsugu then?" Panther asked. "What about William?"
"Well that's his choice. Maybe he, and Baira came up with one already." Varis mentioned to them.
"Probably." Kanetsugu nodded. "So, should we get back to practicing?"
"I'll be the next opponent against one of you this time." Kiyoshi mentioned to them.
"I can give it a try." Hana Ishida mentioned.
"Had you ever went against Flip Effects?" Dr. Genome asked her.
"No, I haven't." she admitted as William and Baira reappeared.
"That's what father's Deck is about." Varis said to her.
She swallowed nervously before moving to have her match with Kiyoshi. "Right."

"Huh, what just happened?" Panther asked Faust. "Why'd that card of his shatter like that?"
"PSY-Frames otherside from summoning monsters in response also negates, and destroys the cards the opponent activates, or summons." Faust explained to him.
"That's good." Panther grinned turning to the duel.
Meanwhile...
A blue-haired man in a suit was kneeling before three giant chess pieces.
"Sir, what should we do? If what he said is true the Hanoi were disbanded but... I can't help feel like it might be a trap." the blue-haired man mentioned.
"The Hanoi had been against us for years but now they decided to give up. Something is amidst." the Bishop Chess Piece said as it glowed, "What could this mean?"
"It doesn't matter. With the Hanoi now gone, it just means capturing those Ignis will be easier." the Queen Chess Piece said arrogantly with a smirk evident in her voice, "And we won't have to worry about anymore attacks from this."
"Don't get cocky Queen." the King Chess Piece said to her before saying, "Even I find this suspicious. The Hanoi just given up when we are close to figure out the Cyberse's Secrets? Something's not right..."
"With all due respect sir, is it possible this is an attempt to get us to lower our guard?" the blue-haired man asked.
"Hmm..." the King Chess Piece gives this some thought.
"King, this is our chance to finally take the Ignis! We gotta take this now while we got time!" the Queen Chess Piece pointed out to him.
"Miss Queen we shouldn't jump right into it in this second. For all we know, this could be what Zaizen suspects. It might be a trap, that can lower our guard, and the Hanoi will strike if we take the bait." the Bishop Chess Piece said to her.
"Didn't you pay attention to what he said? The Hanoi are disbanded, no need to be concerned about them anymore! Now's our chance to take them, we can't afford to let an opportunity like this pass by!" the Queen Chess Piece lectured him, "King, you understand right? We cannot let this chance pass by!"
"Hmm..." the King Chess Piece listened in still thinking before he then directed to the man, "Zaizen."
"Sir!" he replied.
"I feel we should take this meeting more personally. A Guard will direct you to where we are hold up at, I much rather not have any virtual eyes stare at us at this point." the King Chess Piece said to him, "We will be waiting your arrival but just know that seeing all of us without these Avatars are a great privilege."
"Sir, your bringing the entire Inner Circle together to discuss this?" the Bishop Chess Piece asked him.
"The Hanoi disbanding was a very bold move, it be better if we all discuss it face-to-face..." the King Chess Piece answered before then adding, "Along with our REINSTATED HEAD of Security." He mentioned this to Zaizen as he said this.
"Of course sir." the man, Zaizen, answered. "I'm honored sir."
With that he logged out.
He walked out as a woman wearing a black business suit having a clipboard was nervously there before turning to him, "Uh, Akira! How... how did it go?"
"I don't know." Akira answered. "Hayami, I have something to do. I'll be back soon."
Hayami nodded to him as he walked off.
After being directed by a guard Akira was in a elevator at the very top floor of the Building. After it opened two Security Guards were on both sides of the door with the door being a double door having a King Chess Piece in between them before the Guards nod gesturing Akira to head in. Akira walked into the room at that. In the room was a large table where it feature a chess board with a chess pattern on it with a hologram sphere at the center. Along with it are 6 seats.
On one seat was a short overweight man that is balding with blue eyes, and a gray business suit, and a black tie that has a nametag called Rook.
On two seats were two brothers. One has smooth brown hair, and the other having that also with a goatee, and sideburns wearing identical black suits with red ties. On the smooth brown hair's nametag spelled Lancelot Knight, and the goatee man's was Alexander Knight.
One is a white suited man having black buttons, and a red, and green stripped tie on him with bowel black hair while wearing glasses with brown eyes with his nametag spelling Bishop.
One is a woman having blue, and green hair with teal eyes wearing a white V-necked skirt suit over a black camisole. Both outfits are accessorized with gold bracelets, a black collar with a pink buckle (shaped like a square "Q"), pink hoops earrings, and a black necklace with three light lavender beads, and a nametag saying Queen.
And finally at the center was a semi-long blonde haired man with a small trimmed mustache, and beard having on a yellow business suit with a black tie, and black fingerless gloves on, and his nametag was spelled King.
Akira nodded respectfully to all of them.
"Have a seat Zaizen." the man with the Bishop nametag said to him gesturing to a seat opposite to the man with the King nametag.
Akira took his seat at that.
"Now that everyone is here, we can discuss business." the man with the King nametag said to everyone, "As some of you are aware the Hanoi had recently released a video that they are disbanded. Queen wants us to use this chance to take the Ignis but Bishop, and Zaizen believe that it might be a trap by the Hanoi as a way to lower our guard. We are to discuss how to go forward following this change of events with Zaizen now reinstated as our Head of Security."
"Not that I disagree with that decision, but what about Kitamura?" Lancelot Knight inquired.
"Fired." King answered, "He will also be attending but he will not stay for long cause we will hand out his termination, and that'll be the end of him here."
"Works for me." Lancelot Knight shrugged.
"That said, we should get started. A child leading the Knights of Hanoi is a joke, the question is who was that Varis person?" Bishop inquired.
"Someone who's not a fool." Alexander Knight said to them, "That much is certain. Is they really are disbanded then perhaps they had a good reason."
"Agreed, he said that he was defeated in a duel where if he loses the Hanoi would be disbanded. Judging from how powerful the Hanoi is, this Varis should be stronger, and yet this opponent defeated him." Rook nodded in agreement, "This amateur defeated our greatest thorn in our side, it could be either a pro, or a con in the near future. I do know it wasn't Playmaker."
"Can we be certain of that? Who else is at that level of skill?" Queen questioned. "Gore and Blue Angel? I didn't think they were that skilled."
"Remember Queen, Varis described his opponent as a woman, something Playmaker is not." King reminded her playing a small simulation of the video Varis released on the table's hologram orb, "What we do know only of this opponent is that it's a woman that defeated him."
"It wasn't Blue Angel, I would know if it was." Akira admitted before frowning.
"Assuming he isn't lying about this defeat entirely." Bishop pointed out.
"He wasn't Bishop." Alexander Knight said to his fellow Higher-Up, "I am an excellent judge of character so you can believe me when I say, that Varis is a man of his word. I wouldn't have believed it myself but I am able to figure out just be looking at them. It was also the reason why me, and my brother were successful in our job."
That job of course otherside from typing Data on Link VRAINS to make it even better, both Lancelot, and Alexander Knight's occupation is dealing with virus attacks, or hijacks personally. The job was dangerous but it's right up their ally as they are Knights of SOL Technologies. Lancelot is the brawn of the Knights while Alexander is the smarts, and from working in this position, it gave Alexander the ability to be a judge of character from deception or honestly which is definitely a useful skill to have in this type of the work business.
"Then what should we do moving forward?" Rook asked them.
Before anyone can answer someone knocked the door, as Bishop asked the knocker, "What? Who is it?"
"Kitamura sir."
The doors are opened revealing a man wearing a white suit, and black hair with blue bangs with earrings on bowing to them.
"Ah, Kitamura. We were expecting you." King told him.
"You called me to be in an important meeting?" Kitamura asked walking before stopping standing beside Akira placing a hand on the table smirking to Akira, "Zaizen, what are you doing sitting in MY seat? That's a seat only for the Head of Security, so please get off, so I can sit down to attend."
"That won't be necessary Kitamura." Bishop said with a raised hand making both Akiza, and Kitamura turned to him confused (only Kitamura is confused, Akira already knows), "We only invited you just for one thing, and this meeting right now isn't that topic."
"Bishop sir?" Kitamura asked hearing that.
"Sir King will explain it." Bishop said to him.
With Kitamura's attention focused on King he said to him, "What Bishop said was correct. But it was for two things instead of one. For one part, your no longer the Head of Security, Zaizen here has been reinstated to that position so that seat is his."
"What? Sir this must be a mistake." Kitamura said in shock.
"And for a second thing." King takes a piece of paper throwing it over for Kitamura to take in front of him on the table. Kitamura hesitantly picked it up and looked at the paper, "What's this...?"
"It's a file of termination." King said to him what the paper is.
Kitamura's eyes widened in shock.
"King sir, permission to speak." Akira requested.
"Go on." King allowed at this turning his attention away from Kitamura for a second.
"Kitamura, you saw it too correct? The message stating the Knights of Hanoi have disbanded." Akira mentioned. "What do you make of it?"
"Well I..." Kitamura trailed off nervously, "...It be best to just charge in when we have a chance."
Queen pointed to him with a proud smirk showing she agrees with him.
"Must we remind again this is only the decision for all of us to make?" Rook pointed out to Queen again really annoyed at reminding her about this many times.
"I am just agreeing with what he says, this should be the road we're taking, it's why I put my trust on him before this termination was carried out!" Queen countered at that glaring at Rook.
"Enough." King silenced them before saying to Kitamura, "Kitamura clear our your desk, hand over your Nametag, and surrender any property of SOL Technologies to Zaizen immediately. Your incompetence, and work ethic cannot be ignored any longer."
Kitamura just looked dumbfounded as he slowly left the room. With the door closed King sighed before saying, "Now that we have that out of the way, we should get back to business. So Zaizen, how do you think we should best approach this turn of events? Do we charge in now while we have a chance, or should we take caution, and wait to see how this plays out?"
Akira looked down in thought hearing that. "I trust Alexander Knight's judgment about the Knights of Hanoi disbanding... even so, I think our best course of action for now is to wait... set a trap for Playmaker and the Ignis and have them come to us."
"Hmm..." King closed his eyes thinking about this.
"King don't tell me your gonna agree with him! We have a chance to get the Ignis, and his plan is gonna have that slip away!" Queen told him.
"Maria, shut the fuck up." King stated to her which shocked her.
King only calls her by her real name in the business, only if he's done with her attitude, and not in the mood for it longer. Along with him saying that to her also shows that he's more serious along with the fact he's putting her in her place to remind her she's not the one in charge despite being in a really high position in SOL Technologies.
And also his wife...
King opened his eyes looking at Akira, "Well Zaizen, from listening in, I think I have an idea how exactly this should work."
Hearing that everyone turned to him.
"We will have a fake emergency to where we will bait over the information regarding the Hanoi Project, and from hiring a Bounty Hunter from your choice, to where Playmaker wins the match, and that Bounty Hunter's Data-Card to enter the Data Banks we will ambush him, and take him from there. If he wants to fight we will give him a chance to do so against you. Your the second best Duelist out of all of us that isn't from the Inner Circle, so I can think of no better person to duel against Playmaker. Should Playmaker win, and retrieve the data he wants, it'll be a price to pay, it will only show that we can do better, and be fair. The last thing we are, are tyrants, so if he wins, he wins, and gets the data fair, and square. Should you fail, you won't have any penalties." King explained to Akira before asking, "Sound good?"
Akira's eyes widened in shock. "I understand, I'll get in contact with those two and see if either of them are willing to help us... though, what if he manages to defeat Playmaker?"
"It'll make our task to capture him much simpler." King answered before leaning back at his seat before saying, "I trust you have the perfect Bounty Hunter in mind."
"Two, If that's all I'll make the preparations." Akira mentioned bowing before leaving the room.
"Oh, and Zaizen!" King called before he exited the room.
"Sir?" he asked turning back.
"Remember no matter what the outcome will be you will be paid large. Failure to apprehend Playmaker is also acceptable for a lower fee but you will be paid fairly." King told him.
"That, thank you sir." Akira nodded as he left.
"Rewarding failure? Just what are you really thinking?" Rook asked King.
"As I told you before Rook, failure is not the end of the company. It just shows that we view our mistakes that we made, and make them better for the future of the company." King reminded him, "If we don't learn from our mistakes, then it will be used against us."
They all nodded at that.
With the Lyoko Warriors and the former Knights of Hanoi...
Despite trying her best Hana Ishida still ended up losing as William, who ended up going with a Six Samurai deck, tried his luck against Faust again only to lose thanks to his skill.
"Your getting better." Kiyoshi said to them.
"Not good enough." Panther frowned.
"We will make sure your ready." Varis said to him.
The Lyoko Warriors nodded hearing that.
"Ry... Varis, there's something else." Pink Angel mentioned. "Playmaker... I think he knows who I am."
Varis turned to her hearing that.
"When we first arrived, I logged into Link Vrains to see if X.A.N.A. was really here and I saw his duel with that Knight... they both saw me watching, and he tried to confront me about it." she explained to him.
"I can't say, I figure out why he tried to confront you." Varis said to her before saying, "But like I said, he has an Ignis so we need to apprehend him from it."
Pink Angel frowned but nodded. "I know."
Ulrich362: Apologies for taking so long, we have quite a few stories we're working on and this one unfortunately fell between the cracks so to speak. It isn't cancelled though.

Ulrich362: True, though with that said it sounds like SOL Technologies has plans for Playmaker.
bopdog111: Canonically speaking Queen is the CEO while King are three men that are SOL's Stockholders (Which I don't know what a Stockholder is) but in this version King is the CEO, and Queen is only his second-in-command right now. That's how we're doing our VRAINS fics since we feel both the Ignis Warfare, and Ai arcs are rushed a bit.
