Chapter 8
Akihito reached over and shut off his blaring alarm clock. Stretching he grabs his phone to check his messages to see that his phone has blown up. There must have been almost a hundred texts and missed calls. Swiping his phone open he sees that his email inbox is also full. Before he could open anything he gets another phone call from Mitarari, a fellow photographer.
"What do you want?" Akihito asks knowing he has a dozen other calls from the journalist.
"I want in." He says.
"In on what?" Akihito asks moving to his computer to start going through the emails.
"Asami...I want in on whatever you got."
"I don't know what you're talking about?"
"I never took you as one to sleep your way to a scoop..."
"What the hell are you talking about?" Akihito asks finally opening up his email. He opens the first from a newspaper he publishes with a lot. His eyes go wide and his mouth drops open, "Wh-what the FUC-"
Meanwhile, across the city, Asami was sitting behind his desk at Sion looking over reports from his various businesses and other dealings. Kirishima was down in his own office doing the same, both working to get Asami out of the office as fast as possible. Though Amelia's surgery has been successful, there was still a chance for complications. He wanted to be by her side to comfort her through recovery as much as possible. The sound of loud banging and yelling from outside the door to his office caused him to look up from his work.
"Get out of my way! I don't need permission to enter!" Yelled a shrill voice he knew unfortunately well.
The doors were thrown open and in stormed his "loving" wife Chihori, her face red and hair askew. She had what appeared to be a newspaper clutched in her hand. Behind her was one Kirishima's secretaries, disheveled and flustered.
"I'm sorry, Asami-sama." She said with a bow, "I tried to stop her."
"It's fine. You may leave." She bowed and left, shutting the door behind her. He then turned his attention to Chihori, "What do you want, wife? I get updated on everything concerning the twins so there is no reason to visit."
"You know damn well this isn't about the twins!"
"Then what is it about?" He asked leveling her with a blank stare.
"This is about you and your new whore!" She yells slamming the paper on his desk.
With a raised eyebrow he looked down at the paper before a smirk took over his face. On the front page was a photo of him and Akihito in the midst of the passionate kiss they had shared the night before. Along with that photo were several others of him, Akihito and Amelia in various areas of the hospital as well as them at a nearby park. He didn't need to read the article that accompanied the photos. He already approved it.
"I don't see what the problem is." He said still smirking.
"Oh, you don't?" She snapped, "Have you read the article? It makes me and our children look heartless. Like this part..." She picks up the paper and opens to the article, "It says: 'Though the unnamed male has been spending copious amounts of time with the sick child and loving father, Asami's wife and other two children have remained absent. Rumors have spread that the reason the married couple aren't not seen together anymore is because of the abuse that the wife and children threw at the sick girl.' How could you let someone say something like that?"
"Nothing said except the truth." He said looking back at his work.
"The TRUTH!?" She yelled slamming her hands on his desk, "You will redact these statements, apologize publicly, and dump that little brat."
"I don't think you understand what's happening here." He said a cold look overtaking his face, "Your grandfather is sick and dying. He is barely holding on. As soon as he dies I get all his business dealings and assets. Once he's out of the way I'll have no use for you or your children. You'll be stripped of everything you have and left on the streets to die."
"You wouldn't do that to your children." She says trying to get him to feel some sympathy which failed.
"I don't even know if they're mine. With how often you spread your legs." He got up and stalked around his desk making her back away with fright, "The day your grandfather dies my lawyers will be there to serve you the divorce papers. So enjoy the life you have while you still have it. Cause as soon as his heart stops you'll be on the street and Akihito will stand in your place." Going back behind his desk he sat down pressing a button the phone. "Now get out."
Souh came through the door and grabbed her by the arm escorting her from the office, she was to stunned to say or do anything but obey. He continued to stare at the door where she had left wanting nothing more than to bring her back in and shoot her in the fucking head but he could be patient. As he was about to start back into his work his phone starting ringing. It was Akihito which made him smile a little.
"Hello kitten." He said as soon as he answered.
"Who you calling kitten, you bastard?" Was the response given, "Have you seen the papers?"
"Of course, I approved it."
"You WHAT? How could you do that?"
"The photos were already gonna run I just gave them some extra information." He said with a smirk.
"You bastard, now I can't even leave my apartment considering half the newspapers in the city know me and where I live."
"I'll send a car and some guards to pick you up and bring you to the hospital. I'll meet you there."
"Wait I'm not done-"
"Be good kitten." Asami then hung up the phone. Although he wanted to stay on the phone and fluster Akihito some more he needed to get the work done so he could spend some extra days away. Settling back in he hoped there wouldn't be any more distractions. He had some people waiting for him.
