In Miss Bustier's classroom, Mr Damocles addressed the class with an important announcement.
"You only have one day to work on your fashion piece, and it must be your own design," said Mr Damocles to the entire class. "In ten hours, your fittest presentation will be judged by none other than the great fashion designer Gabriel Agreste, the father of our very own student Adrien Agreste. In fact, Adrien will model the winning design in his next photo shoot." Upon hearing this, Marinette was giddy with excitement. "And now, to announce this year's theme: derby hats."
"Derby hats?" Marinette blinked.
Chloé looked at her and gave her a thumbs-down gesture.
After class, Marinette was rather frantic as she was going over her sketchbook in the hall with Alya.
"Derby hat, derby hat, derby hat, derby hat…!" she said frustratingly, going through all the designs. "I don't have any derby hat designs. I've got top hats, caps, even two-horned hats! Need a beret? I'm your girl. A sombrero? No problem-o. But a derby?! You know what? It won't even matter, 'cause I'll probably make a total fool of myself at the event, most likely trip over my stupid derby and collapse on Mr Agreste; give him a full-blown concussion, and Adrien will hate me! I'll never be a world-renowned fashion designer. MY LIFE IS OVER!"
"All this over a derby hat?" said Alya taking her sketchpad. "Let me see your sketchpad, girl. There must be something in here."
"Forget it; I'm a disaster zone," said Marinette as she sat down on the bench next to her. "I'll probably mess everything up in the end."
It was then that Adrian approached them with Jack at his side.
"Wow, Alya…" he said, looking at Marinette's sketchpad, causing her to panic and hide behind the bench. "…those are some awesome designs. I didn't know you had such mad skills."
"Uh, thanks, Adrien, but I can't take the credit," said Alya and then gestured over to Marinette. "These sick designs belong to Marinette." Marinette just gave a weak smile and waved, feeling utterly embarrassed. "Off the chain, right?"
"You're super talented, Marinette. You seriously have a good chance of winning," said Adrian.
"I agree," said Jack. "And this is coming from a blind man."
"Well, um, yeah! I… like—um, designs that—um…" Marinette stuttered as Alya secretly tried to interpret them by giving her the thumbs up. "…go… upwards?" Alya quickly shook her head and crossed her arms. "Um, while stopping… I mean, uh—uh, um, thanks?"
"Sure, and uh—good luck," said Adrian as Alya buried her hands on her head, and Jack shook his head. "Maybe I'll be wearing your derby at father's next photo shoot."
He then waved her goodbye and left.
"A smooth as ever, Marinette," said Jack.
"Jack's right. Girl, you gotta get a grip next time," said Alya. "But did you hear? Adrien thinks you're good enough to win!"
The two girls immediately cheered, unaware that Chloé and Sabrina were eavesdropping.
Sabrina looked at Chloé. "Did you hear how impressed Adrien was with Marinette's desi—"
"Of course, I heard!" Chloé snapped. "Her? Win the contest? As if. When Adrien sees my design, he'll convince his father to award me the winner. Hm!"
"I'm sure he will, Chloé," Sabrina agreed. "You're a born champion. Your design will blow everyone else's out of the water!"
"Yeah, it will. As soon as I can get my hands on the sketchpad!"
Alya had just handed Marinette back her sketchbook and then pulled out her phone, showing there were only nine hours left until the show.
"Only have nine hours until showtime," she said.
"Yikes! I'm off to my secret garden of inspiration. I'll see you later," said Marinette, promptly running into a wall. "AH! I'm okay. I'm okay, I'm okay."
Alya watched, chuckling as Marinette ran past the exit and promptly did a U-turn.
"You know it's time like these that I wish I could see," said Jack.
At Hawk Moth's lair, Hawk Moth opened his window to search for his new victim.
"The time has come for us to find our next victim, my wicked little akumas," he said. "And to prey upon Ladybug and Cat Noir. Their Miraculouses must be mine!"
At Trocadéro, Marinette was trying to design a new derby hat, but she wasn't getting any inspiration. She continued to scribble on her sketchpad only to the pages out.
"Geez, it's hard to be creative under pressure," Marinette moaned.
"Marinette, you save the world under pressure," Tikki pointed out. "I think designing a hat should be a piece of cake!"
"Hm, a cake derby hat. Stylish and tasty," Marinette pondered, causing them both to chuckle.
Marinette kept on drawing new designs only to get them out again; she still lacked that inspiration she needed. She then looked up and saw a man walking but making his way to a bench. Once he sat down, he took out a brown paper bag and blew on a bird call. Almost instantly, a cluster of pigeons approached him, one of them flying past Marinette, nearly hitting her.
"Well, happy day, happy day!" said the man as he began feeding the pigeons. "Splendid is the afternoon day. Ah, Edgar, you fancy one. Fantastic, dazzling performance."
Officer Roger then began to approach him. "Scram, you winged rats!" he yelled, causing the pigeons to fly off and then turned his attention on the man. "How many times do you need to be told, Mr Ramier? No! FEEDING! The pigeons! It's strictly forbidden. If everyone feeds them, they'll leave their waste everywhere!"
"But, who's going to feed my poor pigeons?" Mr Ramier asked.
"All the park keepers know about you, Mr Ramier. You're banned from every park in Paris. Leave now, or I'll call the authorities," said Roger and then suddenly remembered that he was a police officer. "Oh, wait. I'm the authorities. GET OUT!"
Marinette then watched as Mr Ramier walked away, looking immensely depressed.
"Sheesh, I almost feel sorry for that man," said Marinette.
"What a unique character!" said Tikki. "He was like, a human bird. All he needed was a feather jacket to complete the look."
"A feather jacket, hmm. Nice thinking, Tikki," said Marinette and then started to draw again, now finding her inspiration.
Meanwhile the riverbank, Mr Ramier sat down on the bench sadly, and Hawk Moth could sense his negative emotions.
"Poor Mr Ramier, the feeling of injustice, such easy prey for my akuma," he said as he began to corrupt a butterfly into an akuma. "Fly away, my little akuma, and evilize him!"
The akuma flew out of his lair and towards Mr Ramier, infecting his bird call.
"Mr Pigeon, I'm Hawk Moth. Neither this police officer nor any other of the park keepers should stop you from taking care of your friends. What would Paris be without pigeons? What would pigeons be without you?"
Mr Ramier chuckled and then began to transform into Mr Pigeon, who was now more muscular, and his birdcall was still wrapped around his neck. He was now wearing a full-body skin-tight jumpsuit with black forearms, waist and thighs, dark grey belly, light grey chest, shoulder and biceps, and pale, light greyish amaranth shins and head.
What is transformation was complete and began flapping his arms and they can pigeon noises before running off flapping his arms?
At the same time, Chloé was secretly watching Marinette as she drew on her sketchpad. She signalled Sabrina, who snuck behind Marinette, to take a picture of the design from her sketchpad.
Marinette had just finished her sketch. "Yes!"
She held up her pad, looking at her finished design, which Sabrina snapped a photo of.
"Now that's a derby!" said Tikki, marvelling at the design.
"Thanks, Tikki," Marinette smiled.
Sabrina then returned to Chloé with the photo on her phone. "We're so awesome."
"We?" she said coldly, snatching the phone.
"Oh right, sorry!" said Sabrina looking a little hurt. "You're so awesome, Chloé. When are we—uh, you, going to make the hat?"
"And ruin these nails?" Chloé scoffed. "Of course not. Daddy'll pay someone to do it."
She then walked off, and Sabrina followed.
Marinette returned to her room and began working on her Debbie hat. Tikki attempted to help by giving her a snack every now and then, only to trip, but Marinette gladly accepted the snacks.
It was about 13:20 when she finally finished the hat; she just needed to add the final touches. Unfortunately, Marinette realised that those final touches were missing and began looking under her desk.
"What are you looking for?" Tikki asked.
"A feather!" Marinette panicked. "I forgot to pick up a pigeon feather for the hat! It has to have a feather!"
Marinette then quickly ran back to the Trocadéro, which were still thought pigeons. The moment she approached them, they immediately scattered, dropping a number of feathers.
"Yes!" said Marinette grabbing a feather.
She began to run down the stairs to get back home but accidentally bumped into Officer Roger.
"Uh, sorry, mister officer, sir," Marinette apologised and quickly left.
Roger merely shook his head and continued to walk away, but then suddenly, a swarm of pigeons descended upon him. He cried out as they carried him away.
Marinette was now on the bus trying to get home, but it wasn't moving even though the lights were green.
"Come on! Can't we go any faster?" Marinette asked impatiently.
"Sorry folks, we have a situation here," said the bus driver gesturing to the cars held by a cluster of pigeons. "You'll need to get off the bus now."
Marinette decided to do just that until she was startled by a massive cloister of pigeons. "Ah! Uh, this is weird."
Despite the number of pigeons, she got off the bus; as she made her way down the street, she saw even more pigeons. She then turned to a nearby screen that was showing the news.
"Pigeons have taken over Paris," Nadja reported. "This is just one of the many alarming situations giving authorities cause for major concern." She then touched her earpiece, indicating that she had just been given some additional information. "Yes, I've just been told that someone named 'Mr Pigeon' is making an announcement."
Mr Pigeon then appeared on the screen. "Oh, dreary day, poor Parisians." He then began making pigeon noises. "Sorry to ruffle your feathers, but Paris now belongs to the pigeons! Flap flap!"
He then made even more pigeon noises.
Taking the hen that she was dealing with the supervillain, she quickly made her way down to the subway.
"Paris needs us!" said Marinette looking down at Tikki. "Tikki spots on! Yeah!"
Marinette then began to transform into Ladybug.
She soon made her way to the rooftops as she began her search for Mr Pigeon. She then noticed pigeons flying in the formation of an aeroplane through the sky.
"Now, this is weirder than weird," she said.
"Birds of a feather flock together," said a voice, and she turned to see Cat Noir laying down on the roof. He then promptly sneezed and slid down the roof towards her. He then promptly picked himself up, sniffing his nose. "I'm allergic to feathers. Achoo!"
"That's helpful," Ladybug commented.
"Tell me about it," Cat Noir groaned and almost sneezed but managed to stop himself.
"Lady P has already identified our villain," said Sprite as he landed next to them. "His name is Xavier Ramier, and apparently, he's quite the pigeon fanatic. Unfortunately would seem as if someone ruffled his feathers, making him a perfect target for Hawk Moth."
"These birds are only part of the problem," said Cat Noir. "The park keepers in Paris are vanishing without a trace."
"According to Lady P, he was banned from all the parks in Paris feeding the pigeons; I'm guessing he wants payback," Sprite deduced.
"What? We have to track down Mr Pigeon ASAP," said Ladybug.
"Where are we gonna find him?" Cat Noir asked.
"Lady P is going through all the security cameras, but he seems to be rather elusive," said Sprite.
"Hmm, I don't know where we can find him, but I do know where he can find us," Ladybug smiled.
At Place des Vosges, both Cat Noir and Sprite were wearing park ranger caps pretending to be park rangers. Ladybug was nearby, hiding behind a tree.
Cat Noir seemed particularly bored as he began whistling the 'La Marseillaise' and then started to dance.
"Act natural, or he'll never show up!" Ladybug hissed.
"What do you mean? I am acting natural," said Cat Noir.
"When was the last time you saw a park ranger dancing?" Sprite questioned.
"At least I don't whistle God Save the Queen."
"Technically, for me, it's God Save the King."
Unbeknownst to them pigeon was watching then immediately flew back towards Mr Pigeon and cooed in his ear.
"Ladybug, Cat Noir and Lord Sprite?" Mr Pigeon smiled. "Job well done, buddy-boy. Pigeons will reign supreme! Power to the pigeons!"
He then began making pigeon noises and jumped off the statue, where he was immediately caught by the pigeons forming a platform. Then they began carrying him over towards the park.
Back at the park, Ladybug, Cat Noir, and Sprite were still waiting.
"Where is he?" said Ladybug looking concerned. "He should've been here by now."
Cat Noir then suddenly sneezed, and when he looked up, he saw a massive bunch of pigeons taking in the formation of a ball. Then they began sweeping down towards Cat Noir and Sprite.
Ladybug popped her head out from behind the tree. "What the—"
The pigeon started to carry Cat Noir and Sprite away, and Ladybug immediately began to chase after them. She followed them from the rooftops until she saw the pigeons dropping Cat Noir and Sprite on the Le Grand Paris hotel roof.
Cat Noir immediately sneezed, and then both he and Sprite looked around to see that they were surrounded by pigeons. Ladybug soon arrived and joined them on the roof.
"Where's that bird-brain, Mr Pigeon?" Cat Noir asked.
"It does seem strange that he went for the trouble to get us here, not show himself," Sprite agreed.
"He's gotta be here somewhere…" said Ladybug.
Mr pigeon was standing on a swarm of pigeons directly behind.
"If you want to give Paris back to the pigeons for good, you must first rid the city of those three pests," Hawk Moth ordered.
Mr Pigeon then blew on his bird call, and the pigeons started to circle around Ladybug, Cat Noir and Sprite.
"Call me crazy, but I feel like birdseed all of a sudden," said Ladybug as the pigeons began to form a shield to keep them in.
"Yeah, and you and I are perfect bird food," said Sprite.
"Got any bright ideas, bugs?" Cat Noir asked them.
"You're the cat; don't you eat these things for breakfast?" Ladybug snapped. Then suddenly, the pigeons brought down a gigantic case over them, imprisoning them. "Look!"
They then heard Mr Pigeon making bird noises and saw him floating directly above them. "Turpy day. I'm so ruthless," he chuckled.
"Excellent. Now take their Miraculous!" Hawk Moth commanded.
Mr Pigeon floated down towards them continuing to make bird noises. "Your Miraculous. Give them to me or face the wrath of my feathered friends." He blew on his bird call, and immediately some of the pigeons began banging on the case while others turned their backs and aimed their behinds directly at them. "Dada-dee, on the count of three, my beloved pigeons will commence fire. You can still say you're sorry, skins, by handing me your Miraculous. One, two…"
"Cat Noir, the bars!" Ladybug yelled.
"Cataclysm!" Cat Noir yelled, using his power.
He then quickly uses Cataclysm on the bars, and Sprite drew his plasma blade between the two of them they destroyed the cage. Mr Pigeon cowered back toward the edge of the rooftop while the three of them advanced on him spinning their weapons around.
"Well, well. Looks like the pigeon's really a chicken," said Cat Noir as Mr Pigeon made bird noises.
"Me? I'm not flying away. I'm just killing three birds with one stone," said Mr Pigeon and blew on his bird call.
He then leaned back, making bird noises and fell off the edge of the roof. The three of them quickly rushed towards the edge and discovered that he had been caught by a bunch of pigeons, who now lifted him back up. They then took the formation of a sledge, and then heading towards them were pigeons taking the formation of a Christmas present.
"Merry Christmas!" Mr Pigeon yelled.
The pigeons were diving toward the three of them, and realising that they were in danger, they dash towards the closest door. Once they were inside, they quickly closed it behind them and a bulge formed in the door as pigeons slammed into the door. The three of them gave a sigh of relief and fell to the ground.
"I'm not done with you yet!" Mr Pigeon vowed.
He then began making bird noises as the pigeons took away the formation of an aeroplane.
Ladybug began leading Cat Noir and Sprite down the stairs. They then heard Car Noir's ring beeping telling them that he only had four minutes left before he transformed back.
"I've gotta get out of here before my secret identity's revealed!" Cat Noir panicked.
"Yeah, you wouldn't want to let the cat out of the bag," Ladybug smirked.
"Haha, very funny," said Cat Noir coldly.
"Let's just move; every second counts," said Sprite.
They made it all the way down to the first floor to exit the building. Sadly there was a huge crowd of people blocking the entrance.
Mayor Bourgeois saw them and looked utterly relieved. "Ladybug, Cat Noir, Lord Sprite! I'm in great danger—of losing big bucks if my guests leave Paris! You are going to get rid of those pigeons, aren't you?"
Cat Noir was now getting a little nervous as his ring beeped again.
"Of course we are, but before we do, I have an urgent need," Cat Noir fidgeted
"An urgent need?" Mayor Bourgeois frowned. "I see; head to the royal suite." He then gestured towards the elevator, and Cat Noir rushed towards it. "There's paper in there, but perhaps you would prefer… a litter tray?
"Uh…?" Cat Noir frowned and soon realised that he misinterpreted his need. "Oh right, no need for litter. But, um, could I have some Camembert?"
The elevator door closed, and Mayor Bourgeois looked back at Ladybug and Sprite, confused, and they both merely shrugged.
Butler Jean led Cat Noir to the Royal suite and opened the door for him.
"'Scuse me, sorry," he said, quickly slamming the door behind him. "Emergency!"
Then he heard a knock on the door, and he opened it again.
"How do you like your Camembert?" Jean asked.
"Runny!" he said, slamming the door again. A split second later, there was another knock, and he quickly opened it, and standing there was Jean holding a plate.
"Unpasteurised Camembert, matured for two years," he said, handing the silver plate to Cat Noir.
"Thanks!"
Cat Noir then slammed the door again just as he transformed back to Adrien. Plagg shot out of his ring and landed on the bed.
"Oh, the exhaustion!" he moaned. "My poor aching body, I can't move a muscle!"
"You wanna bet?" said Adrian walking over to Plagg.
He then removed the cloche from the plate to reveal the Camembert.
"Ah, my gooeyness," Plagg squealed and devoured the cheese.
"Eat up, buddy," Adrian smiled. "Ladybug needs help."
Both Ladybug and Sprite exited the elevator and entered the dining hall making their way to a large glass window.
"Great, we can get a much better view from up here," said Ladybug, and they then watched as the pigeons flew away. "Where are they going?"
"I know someone who might know," said Sprite looking at his cane. "Hey, Lady P, don't suppose you know the migration of these pigeons?"
"The migration is rather unusual today; they seem to be headed for the Grand Palais," said Lady P.
"We better get over there," said Ladybug.
They then heard the elevator digging, and when the doors opened, Cat Noir was there waiting for them. "Ready when you are, LB and LS."
"Let's go!" said Ladybug as they entered.
The three of them soon made their way to the Grand Palais. They landed next to the entrance and looked through the front doors. From there, they could see that all the park rangers and Officer Roger were all trapped in a big cage.
"So that's where Mr Pigeon's keeping the park keepers he abducted," said Ladybug.
"The Grand Palais," Cat Noir nodded, and he started to sneeze again, but thankfully Ladybug placed her finger under his nose to stop him. "My pigeon radar is on high alert."
"Either your radar is on the brink, or Mr Pigeon's left the park keepers unattended," said Ladybug.
"Let's set the cat among the pigeons," said Cat Noir.
"Hold up, kitty, it's too easy," said Ladybug pulling him back.
"She's right. This sounds like a trap to me," said Sprite. "There's no way we can sneak inside through the front door; we'll be spotted instantly."
Ladybug looked to the glass roof and smiled. "I've got a plan."
Both Cat Noir and Sprite followed Ladybug just as a pigeon entered the building. Looking down from the scaffolding was Mr Pigeon.
"Perfect timing, hootie ho!" he said as the pigeon landed on his arm. "We're ready to greet them, aren't we? They're going to fall right into my trap. It won't be long before you get your Miraculous, friend."
"I can't wait, my dear Pigeon," Hawk Moth smiled.
Unbeknownst to Mr Pigeon, the three young heroes have made their way to the roof.
"If we can destroy that bird call, we'll be able to capture the akuma," Ladybug explained as they made their way to the skylight that was directly over Mr Pigeon, who was unaware of their presence. "Okay, Cat Noir open the window; I'll grab him and yank him up onto the roof, then Sprite, you snag his birdcall away from him."
"Let's go; the early bird gets the worm!" Cat Noir smiled.
"Seems like it's hunting season," Sprite nodded.
Cat Noir opens the skylight on the roof, but a draft of feathers hits him, and he sneezes. Ladybug had just tossed her yo-yo, and the sudden sneeze caused her to misfire. The yo-yo shot right past Mr Pigeon, which bounced off the wall and landed on the floor.
"So much for the element of surprise," said Ladybug retracting her yo-yo.
"Looks I we're winging it as usual," said Sprite.
They quickly jumped inside, landing next to Mr Pigeon, who jumped back and let the pigeons carry him. They quickly jumped down on the ground and began chasing after him until he used his bird call, and the pigeons formed two spheres where his hands were.
"Deedly-dee dee, come closer; I have a bone to peck with you," he said.
"I'd be honoured," said Cat Noir.
"Unguard," said Sprite holding his cane in both hands.
Mr Pigeon then struck the two of them, saying them crashing towards the cage. He then promptly struck Ladybug, and she landed next to them.
"Get us out of here, Ladybug!" said Roger.
"Lucky Charm!" Ladybug yelled, and soon dropping into her hand was a red coin with black spots. "A coin? What am I supposed to do with this?"
She immediately began looking around, and her eyes fell upon the beam above them and the vending machine. She soon realised what the coin was for.
"You can't buy yourself out of here!" said Mr pigeon and then threw his sphere of pigeons at them.
Ladybug quickly darted towards him and slid beneath him, wrapping her yo-yo around his left ankle. She then jumped onto the beam and back down again, creating a makeshift pulley. She immediately darted towards the vending machine at the far end, using the coin to buy a bag of popcorn.
"Cat Noir!" she yelled, tossing it into the air.
Car Noir got the idea and tossed his staff into the back, causing it to burst wide open.
"Snack time, pigeons!" Ladybug yelled as the popcorn landed on Mr Pigeon.
"No!" Mr Pigeon cried as pigeons flew all around him to get the popcorn.
Using this as a distraction, Ladybug then pulled on the yo-yo lifting Mr Pigeon up by the ankle. His bird call then fell off and landed on the ground.
"My bird call! Nooo!" he cried.
"Cat Noir, grab it!" Ladybug yelled.
Cat Noir picked it up, but then he sneezed, accidentally throwing it into the air.
Fortunately, Sprite grabbed it. "Go it!"
He then crashed it in his hand, and the akuma flew out of it.
Ladybug then lowered Mr Pigeon gently to the ground. "No more evildoing for you, little akuma. Time to de-evilize! Gotcha!" She caught the akuma and then released the purified butterflies. "Bye-bye, little butterfly. Miraculous Ladybug!"
She then tossed the coin, which he got back from the vending machine, into the air, releasing her magical ladybugs. They immediately fixed the bird call, and Officer Roger and the park rangers returned to their rightful places. Mr Pigeon then converted back to normal.
"Huh? What happened? Where am I?" said Mr Ramier confused.
Ladybug, Cat Noir and Sprite bumped fists. "Pound it!"
"Wretched pigeons, wretched Ladybug," Hawk Moth cursed as his window closed. "I'll destroy every one of you!"
Marinette quickly returned back to her room to finish off her hat. Thanks to Mr pigeon, she now only had less than an hour left.
"There's no time to lose. I have less than an hour," she said frantically.
At Collège Françoise Dupont, everyone had gathered, ready to present their hats. Alya was waiting alongside Jack for Marinette and tried to reach her on her phone, but there was no response.
"Where is that girl?" said Alya.
"I'm sure she will be here," said Jack positively.
It was then that Natalie arrived, approaching Mr Damocles and Adrian.
"Hello, Mr Damocles; I am Mr Agreste's executive assistant Nathalie," she said.
"Hello, miss. Pardon me, but where is Mr Agreste?" Mr Damocles asked. (She holds up a tablet)
Nathalie then held at the tablet showing Gabriel. "I'm here."
"Ah, uh, hello, Mr Agreste," said Mr Damocles taken aback. "Welcome to our school."
"Adrien, take Nathalie around," Gable ordered.
"Ah, there's Mr Agreste! He's coming this way," said Chloé excitedly as Mr Damocles, Nathalie and Adrien approached Juleka and Rose's hat.
"As you'll see, Mr Agreste, our students have poured their hearts and souls into their projects," said Mr Damocles.
Marinette then arrived carrying a box over to Alya and Jack, giving a sigh of relief.
"Where have you been?!" Alya asked. "You got your hat?"
"Yep, here," she said proudly, removing the lid. Alya marvelled at it, and then her expression darkened. "What?"
"But, it's the same as Chloé's," Alya pointed out.
"What?!" Marinette gasped as the judges made their way over to Chloé and Sabrina's hat, which was exactly the same as hers.
"Uh, hi Mr Agreste," Chloé waved. "I'm Chloé Bourgeois. You know my father, André Bourgeois, the mayor?
"Ugh, that thieving little brat!" said Marinette giving Chloé a just look.
"And I'm willing to bet she did make it herself either," said Jack.
"Do you want me to take care of it?" Alya asked Marinette.
Marinette relaxed and looked at her confidently. "I think I can handle this."
The judges soon reached Marinette's hat.
"Hm, turn the tablet back to Ms Bourgeois' hat," Gabriel ordered, and Natalie did just that, and he noticed that both hats were exactly the same. "Is this a joke?"
"No fair! Marinette copied my design! It's scandalous; how could you do that?" said Chloé and then pretended to cry.
"I apologise for the situation Mr Agreste, but I can prove that this derby hat is MY original design," said Marinette.
Nathalie then turned Gabriel to face her. "Go ahead."
"Um, everything on my derby hat is hand-made—from the embroidery to the weaving of the band, to the stitching of the brim," Marinette explained, and Chloé recoiled, realising that she was now in trouble. "All done by myself. And last, there's a special design element that only the true designer knows about: I signed mine."
She turned the derby hat upside down, revealing her signature on the band. Chloé accidentally knocked over her derby hat stand, and everyone turned towards it, showing that it too had Marinette's signature on the band.
"Daddy!" Chloé yelled and ran away crying.
"Very exquisite creation," said Gabriel. You definitely have the labouring hands of a hat maker, miss…"
"Marinette," said Adrian placing a hand on Marinette's shoulder.
"Congratulations on your demonstration, Miss Marinette. You're the winner."
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" said Marinette bowing excitedly.
"Adrien will wear your derby on our next advertising campaign," said Gabriel.
Adrian then placed her hands over her is on the hat, making her both gasp and blush.
"Awesome job, Marinette," said Adrian making her face pinker.
Adrien then began to put the derby hat on but then started to sneeze. "A-achoo!" He then wiped his nose and looked at the puzzled Marinette. "Uh—sorry, I'm allergic to feathers."
He then sneezed again, and she smiled at him. "Gesundheit!"
"Thanks," Adrian waved before walking away.
Both Marinette and Alya looked at one another, and both began to cheer.
