Once upon a time there was a normal girl named Tomoe Hotaru. Her mother had been killed in an accident that made her father a fanatical supporter of aliens planning on killing this planet and left Hotaru with mechanical limbs and crippling health issues, and she had some weird powers that made others call her a freak, but overall she was normal.
Until she discovered there was actually more to her than she had known, because you see, Tomoe Hotaru was actually the reborn sailor soldier of Saturn. In her previous life, there had been a grand, advanced civilization of magic and wonders that had come to an end. And while she hadn't been the reason for the end, she had been the one to end it, as was her duty and authority.
Some things, like persecution from some of the other sailor soldiers, death, first love, body snatching, rapid growth, adoption and fighting other ambitious aliens – the usual stages of puberty – happened and Hotaru found herself living in a normal town.
Namimori was just an ordinary town, the kind you can see anywhere. Nice people like grannies who offered crying girls a place to escape to, immortals who decided to fixate on ramen for this particular identity they were choosing to wear, more figurative – and sometimes, unfortunately, literal – skeletons in closets than the actual graveyard had, gun-toting babies, curses binding growth and some other things. You know, normal stuff.
Hotaru, there, made some friends who were not like her in the sense of being reborn princesses-slash-sailor-soldiers-destined-for-an-eternal-battle-between-the-forces-of-Chaos-and-Cosmos, which was new for her. New, but that didn't mean she didn't like it.
Her friends might not have been the reborn sailor soldiers of planets from centuries past, but they were also inheritors of secrets themselves, and thus came a period, as many relationships can have, where uncertainty and hesitation and fear brought a hiatus between Hotaru and her friends.
Thankfully, the power of friendship overcame teenage anxiety, and friendship strengthened, Tomoe Hotaru and her friends, who were magical mafia members, were ready to face whatever may come.
Whatever, in this case, being the revelation of what happened in the two thousand years since the Silver Millennium, which, no one really wanted to deal with, because it was two thousand years ago and there was like literally one person from that time left, and who cared what one old man had to say about events that happened two thousand years ago?
Hotaru did, and so did Hotaru's sailor soldier friends, and while Hotaru's not-sailor soldier friends would have helped anyways, they were also involved because coincidentally that issue of what happened two thousand years ago was also connected to them. Turns out when a guy lives for two thousand years and is tasked with a heavy job he gets a lot of connections.
This is a story of friendship and hope, and of young teenagers facing down a man who probably would have made things easier for everyone involved if he had just gotten dementia and died at the expected age instead of persevering for way too long.
AN: Happy April Fools' Day
Instead of actual chapter local late author posts a TL;DR of story
Honestly FF is getting more and more annoying to use to the point where I'm just considering exclusive updates on ao3...
