A few days later Bruno realized something, he had never actually taken Carina on a date. Maybe he should do that before asking her to marry him. Going into the kitchen he asked Juli for her opinion on it and she agreed, before Pepa shreked from the doorway and hugged him, "I knew it, I knew it!" Dragging him behind her she found Felix and exclaimed without preamble, "Bruno needs to ask Carina on a date!"

With that the pair started planning the best thing for their friends. Juli helped make a picnic basket while Bruno got one of his old blankets and set it over the top before giving his sister a hug in thanks. Carrying the basket he went to Carina's house and knocked on the door, she answered, "Hi Bruno!" Seeing the basket, "What is that for?"

Rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand, "I thought you might like a break…"

Pepa shouted from across the street, "He's taking you on a date! Now go!"

Turning red Bruno looked at Carina and was relieved as she laughed. Recovering, she smiled at him, "I guess we should take that break." Closing the door behind her she linked her arm in his, "Where should we go for our picnic?"

Walking together down the street, "How about the hill overlooking the valley we used to throw rocks over?" It was a good childhood memory.

She smiled brightly, "Perfect."

Walking together they left the town behind and went high into the hills, it wasn't as far as they remembered. Spreading out the faded green blanket Bruno looked over at Carina who was still admiring the view of their valley spread out beneath them. Tuning back to him she beamed again. Quickly coming a few steps to sit across from him on the blanket, "We should have done this years ago."

Reaching into the basket he brought out a plate of arepas, "Well, we might have another murder to cover up." Her laugh rang out across the clearing as she fell back onto the old blanket. He smiled to see her with him completely relaxed.

After enjoying their lunch the pair packed the basket again before laying on their backs watching the sky comparing the clouds. In the midst of the shapes they found many kinds of food, different cloths, a vision (Bruno's joke), and silently agreed not to discuss Pepas' moods. It was so relaxing just to be together that they did not move until the sun was going down, wanting to get home before it was dark.

Walking home hand-in-hand they talked about the different flowers that would start to bloom soon, and where the best ones would be found. Trying to get the perfect place to see the blooms at different times of year was something they always did. It gave them a full knowledge of their secluded home. They even had a special notebook for writing them down.

Stopping at Carina's house she opened the door before hugging them tightly, "Thank you 'runo." With a bright smile, "We should do that again soon." A quick kiss on his cheek and then she was inside.

Taking a deep breath he smiled to himself and walked back to the Casita Madrigal. Slipping in he went to the kitchen to put everything away before his mother noticed. Anything that went wrong in the town or Casita was automatically his fault no matter where he was when it happened.
