This is a post-canon story Ghost AU where Eiji comes to NYC after his pole-vaulting accident. But Ash has already been stabbed and is on the brink of death. Eiji just happens to live in his old apartment. While studying in the Public Library, he encounters Ash's ghost who doesn't remember anything but insists he isn't dead (yet)... So Eiji starts investigating...

We as readers/viewers of the manga and anime never get much insight into the events of Eiji's pole vaulting accident. We never got to see the physical/emotional repercussions. That never sat quite right with me, so I decided to write it. This story is what I think may have happened to Eiji that day and in the year preceding his trip to New York. I hope you enjoy it!
