Naozumi's Pov
"I have a bad feeling about today…" I mutter getting ready for the day. Someone walks by and knocks, "Hey, Naozumi." It's Shisui, "What? Hold on." After finishing up I walk out. He looks to me, standing by him is Dan and Kushina. I look at them questioningly, "What's up…?"
"Something's off today." Shisui states and I nod slowly, "Ok…?" Kushina looks to me, "It's a gut feeling but… what about you? How do you feel about today?" She asks and I hesitate, "I'm sure it's nothing." I state, unsure. Y/n walks out of her room and she smiles, walking over, "Hey guys!" She says. I smile, "Yo."
"Y/n," Dan says with a smile, "How are you today?" She shrugs, "Fine? A little tired and stuff. Hungry too."
"When are you not?" I ask and she smiles, "True." She skips off to the kitchen, "Hey, we're almost out of food again!" She calls back, "I'll go out and get some!"
Y/n's Pov
"Hey Y/n!" Naruto greets as I walk by. I smile, "Hiya!" He smiles and walks over, "What are you doing?"
"I'm going shopping for food." I tell him and he nods, "Sounds kinda boring to me…" I shrug, "Matter of opinion. It just means I pretty much chose what we eat for dinner tonight!" I say looking at him. Suddenly I bump into someone, "Oh! S-Sorry!" I say looking to the person.
"Oh, Y/n." I smile, "Hey Shika." He nods, "What are you doing out so early?" He asks and I smile, "Going to get some food for the house."
"Huh? Sounds like a drag to me…" I giggle, "Nah, I don't have to cook but I chose what we have. It's worth it. Wanna join?" He shrugs and puts his hands behind his head, starting to walk with Naruto and I. Wonder why Dan, Naozumi-nii and Kushina were together this morning.. huh.
~Timeskip: After Running Into More Friends~
3rd Pov
"Call Naozumi! Tsunade! Anyone just get someone!" Lee yells frantically. Naruto soon comes over with Sakura yelling at him as he drags her by the arm. She stops yelling when she sees Y/n doubled over in pain, coughing up blood.
"What happened?!" She asks in alarm, "She just fell to the ground in pain. She said she was ok, but that's obviously a lie!" Ino says hysterically.
"Right, Naruto, Lee, get Y/n to the hospital!" Sakura orders, "Right!" They salute and pick up the girl who was still coughing violently, carrying her to the hospital. "Ino, get together a team of other medical ninjas! Or Lady Tsunade!" Ino nods, too worried about her friend's condition to argue. Sakura looked at the others, Kiba, Shikamaru and Hinata, "You three… try and find her brother." Sakura says and runs off to the hospital where Lee and Naruto went with Y/n.
Sakura quickly spots them headed into a room when she bumped into Kakashi, "Oh! Sakura, what are you doi-" Sakura grabs his hand and pulls him along, "No time to explain, Y/n's in trouble." Kakashi's visible eye widens and he's quickly pulled along to Y/n's room.
As they enter they see the girl desperately gasping for breath and spitting up blood, "Kaka-" More coughing. She gripped at her throat, "What did you need me for?" Kakashi asks Sakura, wanting to take his attention away from the suffering Y/n.
3rd Pov
"Where are you going?" Shikamaru growls at Naozumi and he sighs, "I can't tell you but it's important." He replies, "More important than your own dying sister?!" Kiba asks angrily. Naozumi looks over his shoulder, "It is." He speaks coldly, I'm going to get to the bottom of this… "Don't try to stop me. I don't want to hurt you." 2 signs are audible as Naozumi leaves the 2 in the dust. "What a pain…" Shikamaru says.
"Naozumi…" Hinata murmurs, "Good luck…" She doesn't know he heard but he did. Naozumi gives a small smile, "Yeah…" He mutters, "I'll need it." He then leaves the gates of the village as the others watch his back.
Naozumi' Pov
"Zetsu. It's been awhile." I speak. The plant man turns around, "Naozumi…It has…" I narrow my eyes, "What did you do to her?" I ask coldly, "What do you mean?" I can hear and see the stupid smirk on his face, "You know exactly what I mean! She's coughing up blood! She never did that. So I looked into it and found she was taken by your little group." Zetsu laughs, "Oh? Why us?" He taunts in an amused voice, "She…" Wait. What else was in that file… The ring!
"She has a ring from you guys!" Zetsu looks at me meeting my eyes, "He's avoiding our question…Indeed. A question for a question, answer us first." I sigh, "She's my comrade and I care very deeply for her and you're the first to come to mind." I reply snappily, "Alright, now your answer. What did you do to her?" I ask.
"We merely tortured her and it did internal damage. There is… A medicine to cure it. But we won't tell you." He chuckles darkly, "She's dying." I state, "What does it matter to us?" It was only black Zetsu, "She… She's a Jinchuriki. Don't you need them?" I was desperate and I wasn't thinking.
"Oh?" I turn to see Pein in the door frame, "Are we talking about Y/n?" Zetsu looks irritated at being interrupted, "Why don't you come with me?" Yeah… There is no choice in that, "Of course." I follow Pein.
"What was going on in there?" He asks, and he sounds genuinely concerned, "Y/n's dying and I needed answers." I could have sworn I saw his eyes widen for a second, "What…?" He asks, "Coughing blood." I state, "Ah… How long has she had this?" Pein asks, "Since she was returned to the village." I state, "What?!" He asks.
"Zetsu admitted to being the cause of it, sorta." Pein looks kinda ah… Pissed. "Is that so?" He asks coldly, "Well she did just come into here like she owned the place, but I did not know about that." Pein says, "In fact, she didn't see him much…"
"Yeah? Then how's it possible?" I question. Pein sighs, "She blacked out when we were beating her at some point…" He mutters to more himself than me.
"Hmm?" I ask. He shakes his head, "Nothing… out of curiosity… what are you to her?" He looks to me and I blink, "Uhh… c-coworker…" He nods, "Alright…." Just then someone else walks in. Itachi.
"Leader…." He trails off spotting me, "I can catch you later." He states going to walk out.
"Wait, it's alright, what do you need?" Pein asks, surprising us both. Itachi turns back around slowly, "Ok… I was going to go get some more…" He looks at me then back to Pein. Pein nods, "Go. Oh and how are you on medicine?" Pein asks. Itachi frowns, "Fine… Sasori… has plenty." He looks at me, unsure, "Why is he here?" Seems he couldn't let it slide.
"You guys did something to Y/n." I state coldly. He nods, "So? You can't do anything." He states. I shrug, "I'm more powerful than you think." I state, Who the heck am I fooling? I can't take them both on.
"Whatever. I'm going." He walks out without another word. Pein turns to me, "I'd suggest you do the same… but I can't just let a high ranked Leaf ninja walk out of here."
"H-High ranked? Me?" I ask, "Nah." Pein just stares at me, "Naozumi, everyone here knows you better than that. You're no mere Jounin." I nod, slightly tense, "And you know about Jinchuuriki." He continues, "How much more do you know about this?"
Naozumi's Pov
Why did I tell them that she was a Jinchuriki? I groan, "I'm an idiot!" I complain as I rush to the village, teleporting to the leaf hospital to find Tsunade there, "Where were you?" Her cold voice cuts into the tense silence, "She's dying and you just left. Something more important? What exactly did you do?" I look into her eyes, "You've been crying." I mutter, "I went to get these." I hold out a pill bottle, "The Akatsuki did this to her. Itachi has the same thing. He takes pill for it. I stole them." I throw them to her and she catches them staring at me wide eyed.
"You look terrible, you know?" Mom says looking me over, "I know. How is she?" I ask, guilt still eating away at me, "Alright and better now that you have these." She shakes the pills and I smile, "Good."
"But I don't know about you. Everyone's pretty peeved at you." She chuckles darkly, "Especially Sakura." I shiver, "H-How far is she in her training?" I ask and she smiles, "Don't worry. She's not as strong as me yet." I sigh, "That's still very little reassurance." I mutter. I hear a small, weak, giggle, "Y-Yeah…" Mom and I both look over to see Y/n's eyes open slightly and a tiny smile.
"You scared me…" I mutter and she rolls her eyes, "And you can t-talk?" I smile sheepishly, "Fair…" There silence.
"Yeah you are." She states randomly and I blink, "What?" She smiles, "Earlier… y-you said you were a-an idiot." Mom laughs, "Good to see you feeling better."
"Says the one who always ends up in the hospital! I think they're sick of you." She smiles and shrugs slightly, "A-At least I-I help out…" I sigh, "Never going to win against you." I mutter with a smile. She shakes her head, "N-Nevahhhh!" She says with a small smile.
"Now we gotta treat you." Mom says and I smile nervously, "These small cuts? Nah…." She smiles, "As my son I must care for you, even over the smallest things." Y/n giggles weakly, "Mhm…"
