Chapter 69- The Angel and the warriors

Runeterra, Aea, the Empty Lands

"Rosalind lives on a floating continent in the sky! How are we supposed to get there?"

Sara crossed her arms and looked at Arianna. After freeing Enya, the five had returned to Draton.

Needless to say, Arianna, Will, Reina, Jian, Conner, Jax and Kazu were not pleased at how Sara, Madeline, Lorina, Billy and Yamato left in the dead of night to go free a child.

"Easy, we can fly up there." Arianna shrugged nonchalantly.

"Fly?!"

"I can summon Dragons from the east to aid us." Yamato said.

"I love you just say that so casually." Sara quipped.

"Well, he can." Billy said.

Jax hefted his lamppost and looked around. "Never met an Angel before, so first time for everything."

Yamato lifted his head and let out a sharp, shrill whistle that pierced the air like an arrow.

For a few moments, nothing happened. Then, Sara heard the flapping of wings.

A great silver scaled Dragon descended from the heavens and flew towards them. Sara's eyes widened.

She had never seen a Dragon up close before, but this beast was truly magnificent. Its silver scales glinted in the morning sun, casting a glow over it.

"Wow, it's so pretty." She commented.

"Certainly is." Jian agreed.

The Dragon landed on the ground and knelt in front of Yamato. He smiled, gently touching its forehead.

"He says he will take us to the continent of Jaeclune." He said to everyone else.

"That's the floating continent right?" Sara asked and he nodded.

"Let's go then." Will smiled.

The 13 sailed on the Dragon's back as it flew through the sky. Sara let out a short laugh, feeling the wind on her face.

The Dragon soared through the air, past even the clouds. Far below, the mighty kingdom of Draton looked like a tiny dot from where they were.

Far above the clouds, a massive continent floated, dwarfing everything else. Even the sun itself was blotted out by its shear size.

"Welcome to Jaeclune, realm of Angels." Arianna smiled. The Dragon flew up landed on the edge of the continent.

Yamato and Lorina were the first to slide off, followed by Jax, and then everyone else.

Sara looked around in awe. For some reason, she felt at peace in this place. Birds and Dragons soared through the air.

A long golden bridge stretched out before them, seemingly endless. At the end of the bridge, a massive city stood, buildings and temples stretching high and wide.

"I haven't been here before." Reina grinned. Even Jax looked impressed.

Madeline cocked her head, looking at the city. There was something familiar about Jaeclune, as if she had been there before.

"Let's find Rosalind. She is in charge around here." Arianna spoke. Like Madeline, she too felt this place was familiar.

The 13 walked through the city, everyone looking around in awe. Most of the beings in the city were humans, though there were a few Angels and even Orcs there. A couple of Yordles were running shops throughout the place.

A huge statue of an Angel stood in the middle of the plaza.

"Rosalind." Will said, looking at the statue. Arianna and Madeline found themselves giving respectful nods in the direction of the statue.

"I've always desired to see the great Angel in all her beauty." Lorina said softly.

"Today you will." Conner shrugged.

The 13 walked down a street, towards the largest palace in the middle of the city.

The doors opened and an old man, around 80 years old, walked out with a surprising spring in his step.

He wore grey robes and carried a wooden staff in his hand. He had a grey beard, not long, and his hair was grey.

"Hello?" he greeted in a British accent, looking at the group strangely.

Jian's eyes widened. "You are Moran? The old wizard?"

"That's me," Moran dipped his head. "You are?"

"Jian Long, princess of Yuegong." She replied.

Moran studied her like a hawk studying its prey. "I have heard of you. Why are you here?"

"That's on my part," Arianna spoke up. "I am Arianna, veteran officer of the Lightholders. These are my companions; Princess Reina Belenet of Fayhaven, Prince Will Blackwell of Azov, Sara Lance, Jax, Lorina Craven, Cedric Fell, Madeline Frey, Billy Rockwell, Yamato, Kazu and Conner Sampson. We want to speak to Rosalind. It is very important."

Moran frowned, rubbing his chin. "Hmm, Rosalind does not normally receive guests. I don't even know how you reached this place."

"We flew on a Dragon." Cedric said.

"Ah, fair enough. Only Dragons would know the way," Moran nodded. "We keep this place a secret from Demons."

He glared at Conner. "Like Or'gomauth."

"I keep him under control, don't worry." Conner smirked.

"Only a fool believes he can keep a Hell Demon under control." The wizard shook his head.

Moran held his head as if in pain, and closed his eyes. Moments later, he opened them and looked at the 13.

"Rosalind wants to speak to you. Follow me."

The group followed Moran as he led them into the giant temple. The statue of a Goddess was to their right, towering above them.

Two people stood at the center of the temple. One was a beautiful raven-haired woman in her mid thirties, a calm smile on her face.

She wore a silver robe and radiated powerful energy. She was by far the most powerful being Sara had seen, besides Soraka, Zoe and Aurelion Sol.

The other was a buff, extremely handsome man with a small beard, wearing silver armor and a red cloak billowing behind him. His face was locked in a small smirk.

"Rosalind. Collin." Moran called out. They both turned as he gestured to the group.

Rosalind scanned the group, locking eyes with Sara briefly. The warrior could see a lot of wisdom, but also pain in her eyes.

Rosalind looked at Madeline and Arianna curiously. There was something about them that was familiar.

"I am Arianna, veteran officer of the Lightholders." Arianna bowed, feeling awe at meeting the most powerful Angel on Runeterra, a living legend.

"Sara Lance." Sara introduced herself.

"Madeline Frey."

"Billy Rockwell."

"Reina Belenet of Fayhaven."

"Will Blackwell of Azov."

"Jian Long of Yuegong."

"Cedric Fell."

"Yamato."

"Lorina Craven."

"Kazu."

"Conner Sampson."

"Jax of Icathia."

"Icathia?" Rosalind frowned. "That land is long gone."

"You know?" Jax asked in shock.

"Of course, Saijax," she replied. "Because of Heaven's deal with the Targonion Aspects, no Angel is allowed to set foot on Valoran or Shurima."

"Really?" Sara asked and she nodded.

"Who are you?" Jax asked Collin.

"I am Collin Dayne, son of Heaven, champion of this world," he introduced himself proudly. He looked at Arianna, Madeline, Jian, Lorina, Sara and Reina. "What do we have here?"

"Not interested." Lorina snapped, everyone else groaning.

"Collin, remember what we said? No flirting with every woman you meet." Rosalind rolled her eyes.

"Listen, my Lady, we need your help to find Kisufu and the Shadow King." Arianna said.

Rosalind turned her, eyebrows raised. "I figured. Why else would you be here? It'll take some time and I've got a lot of stuff to discuss with you."

"What should we do in the meantime?" Yamato asked.

"The Enforcer and the Monk. They are training right now. Find them." Rosalind nudged her head, though she looked at the group with slight disdain.

"Please help us." Arianna pleaded.

"I will."

Later

CLANG!

The 13 watched as two women fought down below in the courtyard. One was a beautiful dark-haired woman wearing a red robe with golden armored shoulder plates. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail, and her eyes glowed golden.

The other was a very young Asian woman, around Reina's age who wore a blue and red outfit, with a pair of daggers strapped to her sides. She fought with a pair of swords, the other woman with her bare fists.

The two stopped fighting, looking up at the 13.

"Who are you?" the Asian woman called out.

"Arianna." The Lightholder replied.

"Oh! Rosalind mentioned you," the woman said. "I'm Eretria Sand."

The other woman smiled and made a few motions with her hands.

"What's up with her?" Jax frowned.

"She's deaf." Eretria revealed as the 13 walked up to them.

"Really?" Sara looked at her. Compared to Rosalind, Collin, Moran and Eretria, this woman radiated a calm, peaceful aura.

"This is my friend and mentor, Oasana." Eretria introduced her. The 13 gave their introductions.

"So you're searching for the Shadow King?" Eretria asked.

"We are. We shall stop him." Will replied.

Oasana signed and Eretria translated. "Heaven told her about the Shadow King. That he is from the world of Neotellus."

"Yeah, we know," Cedric said. "But we don't know anything about that world."

Oasana signed and Eretria translated again. "Ask Rosalind. She knows."

"You ever been to Heaven?" Sara asked, looking at Oasana.

Oasana smiled softly and began signing.

"A little flower that blooms in May," Eretria translated. "A lovely sunset at the end of a day. Someone helping a stranger along the way. That's Heaven to me."

Oasana smiled at Sara and continued.

"The joy I get when I feel a touching prayer…it makes me know the Lord is somewhere near. Even the birds flying around in the air…that's Heaven to me. It doesn't have to be a miracle. Even the children playing in the street, saying a friendly hello to everyone that they meet. Even the leaves blowing out on the tree, that's Heaven to me."

Sara's eyes widened. "That is so beautiful."

Oasana grinned and held out her hand as Sara shook it.

"It's chaos down there." Yamato said.

Oasana signed and Eretria translated. "She says that in all her 245 years of living, she's never seen anything like this."

"How are you that old?" Reina asked.

"She says that when she was a young girl, Rosalind picked her up and imbued her with the powers of Heaven. She is blessed with the strength of a hundred men."

At that moment, Rosalind walked towards them. "I know where Kisufu is."

"You do?" Sara asked, but stopped on seeing her ashen face.

"I need all of you before I explain. It's not good at all."

The 13 stood alongside Collin, Moran, Oasana and Eretria as they faced Rosalind.

"He passed through empty lands before reaching an arena in a city by the west," Rosalind said. "An arena controlled by a man named Krovis. A deadly warrior."

"What's wrong?" Madeline asked.

"Krovis is someone I don't know of, and that's not good. I know of everyone on Aea," the Angel said. "And I saw the Twin-Tailed Comet. That's not good."

"Why?" Jax asked.

"Because it heralds the End Times."

Eretria, Moran and Collin gasped while Oasana signed frantically.

"What are the End Times?" Billy asked as everyone else looked confused.

"An old tale that says that three worlds will collide and fight a final apocalyptic war that will end in nothing but total annihilation." Moran said, pale as a ghost.

"Most of the warriors of Runeterra will not return to their homes in triumph. Nor the warriors Bartholomew and Welina and the Vampire Count Alfred, to their dark waters." Rosalind said grimly.

The 13 traded looks. This was not good.

"What's supposed to happen in the End Times?" Lorina asked carefully, dreading the answer.

"Runeterra will collide with two other worlds and all three will be destroyed. We can only hope that God himself rains unending love and amazing power to save us," Rosalind shook her head. "These three worlds shall soon burn to the ground. The stars forbear to shine."

"Oh damn." Sara muttered.

"Runeterran's are pathetic," Collin scoffed. "They refuse to accept change and improve. Noxians are the worst. And now Neotellus is bleeding into Runeterra. The Lightholders and Ildanev are not of this world. Neither is the Stigmal."

"I'm sure they can't be that bad." Jian reasoned.

"Oh I'm sure they can," Rosalind snarled angrily. "I was here from the beginning. Who do you think told the Void 'you can only come this far?'"

She looked at them and said. "I don't even know if Runeterra should be saved. It's obvious they don't care. Therefore it might be good for it to be destroyed."

Oasana signed. "I have faith that humanity can redeem itself. They are stronger than you think. I have faith in God that we can help Runeterra be saved from it's destruction. If even Neotellus can be saved, then why, oh why, can't Runeterra? We can save it."

Rosalind was about to respond, when the entire continent shook and everyone staggered.

"What was that?" Reina asked, alarmed.

"We're under attack!" Collin growled.

The floor cracked and soon came in. Sara fell through the hole, trying to hold on. Just as she did, Jax crashed into her and Sara fell through the sky.

She turned to see the ground coming at her.

"Oh shit." Sara paled.

"Can't get a damn break." Jax groaned.

And done.

So four new and extremely powerful champions have appeared; Rosalind, Collin Dayne, Moran, Oasana and Eretria Sand.

Rosalind will be played by Olga Kurylenko, Collin will be played by Ryan Gosling, Moran will be played by Hugh Laurie, Oasana will be played by Lauren Ridloff and Eretria will be played by Annie Q.

Rosalind is the most powerful, followed by Collin, then Moran, then Oasana and then Eretria.

Oasana will be a very important character down the line and there is one story where she will play a major role.

Hope the introductions and explanations were enjoyed. But now obviously things are not going well for our heroes.

There will be a story at the end of this series that will cover the End Times.

Next chapter will feature a special appearance by a new character from a new fandom that will soon be properly introduced.

Hope everyone enjoyed and see you all next time with another chapter. If you live in Ukraine, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
