This chapter will finish up the Aea arc, so hope everyone's excited.

Chapter 71- Defeat

Runeterra, Aea, Khago

Kisufu tapped the ground with his staff and produced a powerful shockwave, throwing everyone back.

Krovis picked Jian up by the throat and punched her twice, bloodying her further.

Madeline shot down a Goblin, blowing part of his brain. Sara did a flip and landed, slicing him down.

Oasana charged and rammed into Kisufu, sending him down. She grabbed him by the throat and slammed him against the arena wall, damaging it.

Kisufu fired a blast of magic that sent her flying back.

Jian tried to punch but Krovis grasped her wrist and twisted, making her grunt in pain. Spinning her around, Krovis got her in a chokehold.

Jian head-butted him hard, knocking him back as he let her go.

"I was wrong," she panted. "I became too obsessed with vengeance. But no more. I fight to avenge my fallen kin, as my ancestor, Tighe the Cunning did in the Elder Days."

A burst of flames appeared as Maximus stood there, smirking. Billy flung a knife as Maximus deflected.

Quinlynn hurled her own knife and it impaled him in the shoulder, making him grunt as he staggered back.

"MAK'GORA!" a familiar voice shouted. Everyone turned as Goragan charged into the arena, leaping and punching Kisufu in the face.

The Magician of the Dark Night staggered back. As Goragan punched, Kisufu gripped his wrist and delivered a punch to Goragan's ribs.

CRACK!

Goragan's rib broke from the force of the blow and he let out a soft grunt. Kisufu slammed his knee into Goragan's face, staggering him back.

As Kisufu punched, Goragan blocked with his foot. As he recovered, the Orc delivered a brutal combo, punching Kisufu in the face and chest multiple times before finishing with an uppercut that sent him flying.

Goragan let out an earth-shattering roar that shook the arena.

A portal opened and Rosalind and Collin Dayne flew out of it, ramming into some Demons.

Moran, Eretria, Arianna, Jax, Will, Reina, Cedric and Kazu followed, all beginning to fight.

"Bloody hell, you idiots are late!" Madeline snapped.

"Oh shut up." Arianna rolled her eyes.

Conner's eyes glowed black as he fought Krovis, giving as good as he got. Jian's wrist had been snapped in that time and now she clutched it uselessly.

Sara felt a strange presence near her, but couldn't tell what it was. She grabbed a Goblin and broke its neck.

Kisufu picked Goragan up and hurled him away where he crashed to the ground, grunting.

"Let's go!" Rosalind shouted, firing cosmic power from her eyes at Kisufu, who blocked with a mystical shield.

"I remember Khayzzaul the Grim Reaper fought harder than you." She taunted.

Kisufu snarled and unleashed a blast that she avoided.

Maximus nearly stabbed Billy but Yamato deflected with his sword, and the two began fighting him.

Maximus avoided a strike and tried to stab but Billy delfected and Yamato managed to slice his chest.

Sara leapt and kicked Kisufu in the chest, sending him back. More Demons came as Moran and Collin moved to engage them.

All the while, the crowd roared wildly, enjoying the fight.

Kisufu slammed his staff on the ground, sending everyone flying back. Arianna sliced him with her dagger before he head-butted her hard, sending her back.

Krovis grabbed Jian and held her in a chokehold, as she struggled.

"For my ancestor." She grunted. Smirking, Krovis twisted her neck, breaking it.

Jian Long was dead!

Will and Reina noticed and their blood boiled.

"DIE!" Will roared, firing his pistol at Krovis who swung to deflect. Reina's hands glowed as she hurled a telekinetic blast at him.

Krovis avoided and charged as the two began fighting him.

Conner screamed as his body burst into a pile of ashes.

Sara barely avoided a strike from a Demon and stabbed it in the mouth. Her leg hurt, but her rage was stronger than even the pain.

One Demon managed to disarm her, but she head-butted it hard, taking it down.

Grabbing a Demon by the collar, she kneed it in the gut and then hurled it to the ground.

A large reptile beast came towards them but Jax whacked it with his lamppost, taking it down.

Sara spun as she felt a presence behind her. She elbowed the Demon hard, knocking it out.

Reina's hands glowed as she telekinetically threw a Demon into a wall, flattening it.

Jax fought two at once, deflecting their strikes with his weapon. He bonked one on the head.

A pair of laser blasts flew and slammed into the Demon army, destroying a part of it. Everyone turned to see Enya smirking as she walked towards them, Oberlin, Ravenblack, Percy, Jasper and Asodemus with them.

Kazu slammed a Demon hard and then punched another in the abdomen, taking it down.

Everyone else began fighting too.

Jax spun and struck Krovis hard, staggering him.

"Imagine if I had a real weapon." He smirked, striking Krovis a few more times till he was eventually knocked out.

"And that's how you do it."

Kisufu managed to grab Billy and slowly drained his Life Force, causing him to gasp in pain. Madeline fired her rifle and the bullet struck his shoulder, making him grunt.

Glaring, Kisufu spun and fired a blast. Billy took a running leap and dived in front as the blast hit him.

Billy's life force was drained completely, reducing him to a mere skeleton.

"NOOOOOOO!" Madeline screamed, dropping to her knees as she stared at the corpse of her best friend.

Sara punched Kisufu hard, staggering him. Oberlin hurled a pair of discs that exploded, staggering him again.

At that moment, the clouds darkened. A torrent of darkness flooded the arena and solidified into a dark armored being.

"The Shadow King." Arianna whispered in horror as everybody felt chills down their spines.

"Damn, this guy's ugly." Lorina quipped to lighten her own mood. It didn't work.

The Shadow King had a six-headed blade surrounded by an unholy flame and was imbued with dark sorcery.

He clicked his fingers as Kisufu and Maximus disappeared.

Arianna and Kazu charged but were sent back.

Yamato's throat was brutally sliced by the Shadow King and he fell down, dead.

"NO!" Kazu roared as he tried to charge but was knocked down.

"Now or never." Sara thought to herself. She drew her sword and charged as the Shadow King turned to face her.

He slammed his sword onto the ground and she was sent flying back, hitting her head on a stone pillar.

"Let me take over." A female voice whispered inside her mind.

"Who…who are you?" Sara groaned.

"I am Tighe the Cunning. I have faced him before." Tighe said. Sara slowly relaxed and felt something enter her.

Slowly, she stood up and picked her sword up. It was almost as if she was a spectator to her own existence.

Someone else was operating her body and it was honestly scary.

"Hmm, haven't fought in over 21000 years." Tighe in Sara's body muttered.

She marched to the Shadow King. "Hey, face me."

He turned to face her with a bemused expression. Without looking, he hurled a spear at Lorina.

Just as it reached her, Madeline shoved her out the way as the spear impaled her in the heart.

"MADDIE!" Arianna screamed. Madeline sunk to her knees as Lorina rushed to her.

"I remember who I was." She said.

"What?" Lorina frowned.

"Ashliel. The Angel of Justice." Madeline sighed. "I am sorry, Lorina. We both deserved better."

Madeline toppled forward, dead.

Lorina had tears in her eyes as she clenched her fists.

Sara rushed at the Shadow King and effortlessly deflected his blows, moving at a superhuman speed.

"Woah!" Sara muttered, shocked by how fast she was moving. The Shadow King sliced but Sara easily avoided and kicked him hard.

Throwing her sword down, Sara got into a fighting stance. The Shadow King punched, but Sara deflected with her elbow and punched him hard, staggering him.

"Hardly my first time fighting you," Sara taunted, or the being inhabiting her body taunted. "You are a LOT weaker now."

A circle of eldtitch symbols covered the Shadow King as Moran struggled to pin him down.

Rosalind, Enya, Collin and everyone else fired their attacks.

"I WILL RETURN!" the Shadow King roared. There was a bright flash of light and he was gone.

"Is he gone?" Kazu panted.

"Yes." Moran nodded.

"Farewell, Sara. You shall find me in the great tombs in the south. We shall walk the earth again. When the final days are upon us." Tighe said, and vanished.

Sara turned to see the bodies of Jian, Billy, Madeline and Conner.

"Yamato?" she asked.

Arianna shook her head sadly.

A week later

"So this is farewell." Jax said. He and Sara stood by the shore as Arianna, Reina, Will, Cedric, Lorina and Kazu faced them.

"Indeed. We thank you for your help." Arianna smiled.

"What will you do now?" Lorina asked.

"I don't know," Sara admitted. "Rosalind told me Xaivan is near Valoran. So I'm going back to Demacia."

"I shall wander Runeterra forever more." Jax said.

Reina hugged Sara and she returned the hug.

"Farewell, all of you." Sara smiled.

She and Jax got in the boat and began rowing out into the open ocean.

Arianna, Reina, Will, Cedric, Lorina and Kazu watched them go till they were no longer there.

"I'm gonna miss them." Lorina admitted.

"Me too." Kazu nodded.

The Six rode their horses into the mainland where they passed a series of graves.

Jian Long.

Conner 'Shootout' Sampson.

Billy 'The Knife' Rockwell.

Yamato.

Madeline 'Angel of Death' Frey.

"They truly were magnificent." Cedric said, giving a respectful salute to his comrades.

Arianna stared at the graves for a moment before nodding.

She kicked her horse into a gallop.

With that, Arianna, Reina, Will, Cedric, Lorina and Kazu rode into the sunset, leaving the graves of their fallen comrades behind.

"So I suppose this is goodbye." Jax said to Sara.

"Indeed. Thank you." Sara said gratefully.

"Anytime. So you'll go back to Demacia?" Jax asked.

"Yep. The road…it never ends." Sara muttered.

"No it doesn't. May Bard guide you." Jax said.

"I know he will. Maybe one day, I can lean on the everlasting arms." Sara sighed.

Jax held out his hand but Sara hugged him.

"Farewell, old friend." Jax said.

"Indeed."

Jax walked away as Sara watched him disappear.

"The road goes ever on and on." Sara smiled.

And done.

RIP Jian Long, Conner Sampson, Madeline Frey, Billy Rockwell and Yamato. They all died as heroes.

So the Shadow King has been defeated at last. Krovis, Maximus and Kisufu will show up in a future story.

So now we will return to the rest of Runeterra and will soon enter the home-stretch.

The rest of the champions will appear now.
