Surprise Surprise
As the group leaves WB at Grooves corporate offices a few things have become clear. First of all, Hyde is not married to Sam. Second, she is definitely after something, probably WB's money. The why however isn't clear.
For Jackie the best thing to come out of this meeting with Steven's father, is her growing trust in Steven. She knows that he royally messed up, but the thing she's noticed about Steven since he showed up is that he knows that he messed up too. He's not making excuses and even better, he's not running away either.
They all load backup into the Vista Cruiser. The trip home is better for all of them. Jackie is curled up on Steven's lap, finally taking that nap. Fez and Donna are sitting quietly beside them in the backseat. The overall feeling in the car is relief.
Donna and Fez are relieved that their bestfriend is working out her problems with their other best friend. They are both really happy that Steven is not married to a stripper. Even Fez, who normally would be over the moon to have a stripper in the group.
Steven wants nothing more than to go and confront Sam and ask her what the hell her problem is. Eventually his parents talked him out of it. WB and Red had told him to let the lawyers handle it. He had a hard time trusting lawyers, but he had learned over his childhood that he could always trust Red. The man was as steady as they came. He stood by his word, and right now his word was that they were going to let the lawyers handle the legal stuff and then his family was going to help him with the rest.
The other reason he was not going to go over there was because Jackie asked him not to. She had said that when Sam was confronted they needed to do it together. That they need to face their problems together.
She didn't say it out loud, but he knew that she didn't want him alone with Sam. That he could understand, he can still be that way whenever Kelso is alone with Jackie. He doesn't like that he is responsible for Jackie's low self esteem. Before Sam, before the nurse Jackie never doubted that she was always the most amazing person in the room. Somehow he needs to fix that, no matter how long it takes.
Hyde is pulled out of his thoughts when Mrs Forman asks him if thinks Jackie would be okay with getting something to eat while they are out. " It's after dinner time, and I know how important it is for Jackie to eat".
Hyde gently wakes Jackie, "Grasshopper do you feel like eating"?
"Actually I'm starving. Do you think we can get a cheeseburger and a strawberry shake from Fatso Burger" Jackie asks tentatively .
"Sure thing Kiddo" Red says. He remembers all too well how Kitty was when she was pregnant. Never say no to the pregnant lady. If she wants greasy burgers, you get greasy burgers. And if next week you suggest greasy burgers and she looks at you she's going to throw up, well burgers are now off the menu. You eat whatever the pregnant lady wants, no questions asked, no observations made.
Hyde and the Formans are happy to finally see this girl get an appetite. Kitty hopes this means that Jackie's beginning to feel better. She has been so worried about Jackie these past couple of months, but these last three weeks have surely been hard to watch. Kitty being a nurse knows that the stress Jackie has been under is not good for her or the baby. Hopefully with WB's help they can get rid of that damn stripper.
Red decides that they should go in and eat instead of going through the drive through. That's another thing he knows about, pregnant ladies, they throw up a lot. He would rather not have that happen in the car with him in it. Blood no problem, being shot at no problem, but people throwing up, that's a problem.
Everyone is sitting to eat and they are just staring at Jackie. Not only is her appetite better but apparently it's better than ever. She felt like she hadn't eaten in days.
She cannot believe that she is about to eat a bacon cheeseburger, a chili cheese dog, cheesy fries, and a strawberry shake. Jackie can feel Donna and Fez staring at her."Lumberjack, why are you staring at my food? Didn't you order enough" Jackie snarks.
"Damn sorry Jackie I just never seen you eat so much at one time before" Donna replies.
"Jackie is eating for two now," Kitty says. She remembers what it was like when she was pregnant.
Fez looks up and is about to say something to Jackie, but before he can say anything Hyde stops him. "Fez, shut up. Whatever you are about to say, just don't."
Red has had enough. "Everyone shut up and let the loud one eat in peace. The sooner you're done eating the sooner we get home and I can relax in my chair."
Hyde couldn't agree more. He wants nothing more than to get home and relax with Jackie. He knows their problems aren't over but he feels like they are on the right track to work out a lot of things.
30 minutes later
Red notices Kelso's empty car parked in his spot. "Kitty, if that kettlehead kid is sitting in my chair, I'm going to shove my foot so far up his ass"
"Red Forman do not say the A-S-S word in front of my grandbaby!"
"Kitty the loud one hasn't had the baby yet"
"Red Forman, you will not use that language around Jackie and my grandbaby!"
"Fine Kitty." Red quips. All he wants is to get in his house and relax in his chair and watch some tv.
Hyde wants to talk to Kelso and then relax with Jackie. Hopefully Sam screwed up and said something useful in front of Kelso. He just prays that Kelso has enough brains to be helpful.
The Forman's and the gang get off the Vista Cruiser and make their way to the sliding kitchen doors. "Jackie dear I was thinking I would bake you some cookies. How about your favorite chocolate chip?"
"Mrs Forman, you don't have to do that. I don't want to be a bother."
Fez gives Jackie a dirty look. "If I would have known that getting pregnant was the secret to Mrs Kitty's cookies I would have gotten pregnant a long time ago."
Donna busts out laughing and Hyde shakes his head. "Fez little buddy, I think we need to go have a talk downstairs. Maybe Kelso can tell you where babies come from." Hyde can't believe he has to have the birds and bees talk with Fez again.
Hyde gives Jackie a peck on the cheek and then takes Fez to the basement. He needs to talk to Kelso to see if has any info on Sam, and he'd rather do that while Jackie was being pampered by Mrs Forman.
"Oh Jackie dear don't you worry about that, you are never a bother. You better get used to me spoiling you! I'm just going to change my clothes and then I'll get baking." Kitty says with her signature laugh. Red has had enough of these kids today. He and Kitty make their way to the living room.
"What the Hell are you doing here?" Red yells.
"Oh my God!" Kitty yells at the same time.
Donna and Jackie look at each other, ''Kelso" they say simultaneously. They rush into the living room to see what Kelso is up to.
Jackie and Donna both Yell "Oh My God"
Fez and Hyde hear the commotion and run back up the basement stairs. Just as they pass through the swinging door Fez looks towards the stairs and yells, "Kelso what the Hell are you doing with my wife!"
Red turns to see his long lost daughter coming down the stairs with that Kettlehead. "What the Hell were you doing upstairs with my daughter"
Hyde looks around and he begins to wonder if he is on an acid trip. Donna and Mrs Forman are hugging the crap out of Forman, a long lost Laurie Forman is now standing in the living room, and did Fez just say his wife?
"Mom, Donna I literally can't breathe."
"Donna, you're going to break him if you don't let go." Jackie says in disbelief. She's beginning to wonder if she is having hallucinations? Is that normal in pregnancy she wonders. Wasn't it three weeks ago Forman left for Africa, and didn't Laurie leave almost two years ago. Did Fez just say wife and not ex wife?
"Someone better start explaining exactly what in the hell is going on Right Now!" Red shouts.
Laurie walks up to her father and gives him a hug. "Hi daddy, I missed you so much. Aren't you happy to see me?"
"Of course I am Kitten. Where in the world have you been and why didn't you call me to let me know where you were and that you were ok. You know how your mother worries?"
"Oh Daddy I'm sorry. You are right I should have come home a long time ago, I just didn't know if you and Mom would want me too."
"Laurie what kind of malarky is that. You know we might not always see eye to eye but how could you stay gone for so long and worry us like that. You know your dad has a bad heart." Kitty says through tears.
Eric steps away from Donna and his mom to look at both his parents and the gang. "Look I'm usually not the one to defend Laurie, but cut her some slack, she has her reasons for why she was away. Give her a chance and she will explain" Everyone looks at Eric in disbelief. This is the first time he has ever stood up for his sister.
Hyde really thinks he's on acid right now.
Jackie is definitely reading that book about pregnancy tonight. She has absolutely lost her mind, because she can definitely hear a baby cry.
While all of this is going on Kelso looks like he's about to explode. He has a huge grin on his face.
Fez just wants to know where in Hell Laurie has been so she can finally sign those divorce papers. He has felt so guilty for letting everyone believe that he and Laurie were divorced for the past year and a half.
Eric whispers something to Laurie before she runs upstairs. He tells everyone to sit down. He says he has a surprise for them. In actuality he's worried his dad might have another heart attack.
Laurie comes downstairs and is holding a baby.
Everyone except Eric and Kelso just stare at Laurie. The only sound is the baby who is no longer crying but sort of babbling, and Laurie comforting him.
"Laurie, who are you babysitting for, you just got home." Kitty asks in disbelief that anyone would trust Laurie to baby sit.
"Mom, I'm not babysitting."
"Laurie, what's the meaning of this" Red has had enough surprises. He just wants to relax in his chair, is that too much to ask for.
"He's my son, your grandson." Laurie's heart is in her throat. She has tears in her eyes. She is prepared to be tossed out in the street, but she'll be damned if she lets anyone hurt her baby.
Eric sees the look on Laurie's face and decides to step in, afterall he told her that she needed to come home. "Mom, Dad or should I say Grandma and Grandpa let me introduce you to my nephew, William Fernando Zamora Forman." Eric signals to Laurie to hand the baby to their Dad. Hopefully holding the little guy will stop their dad from exploding.
Laurie walks up and hands her beautiful son to her dad without waiting for a response. Her mom is weeping and her dad for once is speechless. Nine months ago, she never could have imagined her father holding her son.
The gang is looking back and forth from Laurie's baby, the Forman's, and Fez. Fez is so confused. "Laurie, why would you name your son after me, I don't get it, is this some kind of joke."
Donna, Jackie and Hyde all turn to each other, " Oh My God"
"Laurie, why would you name your baby after your ex husband?" Red demands while getting to his feet.
"Oh my God, Red give me that baby" Kitty turns to her husband and takes the baby. Little William, her grandson appears to be about nine months old in her quickly calculated opinion.
"Daddy he's not my ex. I never signed the papers" Laurie turns to Fez and grabs his hand, "Fez, I think it's about time you met your son, I call him Willy, you know like Willy Wonka. You were always saying that he was your idol"
Fez tries to take a step but feels the world spinning like the tilt a whirl at Funland, and passes out.
Kelso yells "Burn" and little Willy begins to cry.
