Here it is, ladies and gentlemen. The tenth chapter is up, and I hope it is to the liking of my readers. Also, I want to apologize for taking so long with this particular fanfiction, but I am also handling college assignments, writing actual books, and other fanfictions. At any rate, I hope that this continuation will go over well. Enjoy!

Chapter 10: The Zoo Comes to Africa

The penguins were soon filled in on the various events in the Pride Lands that led to the current "golden age" of Simba and Nala's reign. Alex and his friends introduced the penguins to Kiara and to her two friends, Tiifu and Zuri, and then to Timon and Pumbaa, and then Rafiki and Makini. To say that the four penguins were surprised at these various revelations would be an understatement; Private nearly fainted with excitement at the prospect of standing before a king of lions, but Simba did not think any less of him for that.

Eventually, the rains came to the Serengeti Plain once more and the river that flowed through the Pride Lands swelled higher than its banks. Kion and his friends did have their duties in the Lion Guard to attend to, but they always made time for their new friends. On one particularly rainy day, Nala and her hunting party brought, and as the Circle of Life decreed, no more than what the pride needed. Timon and Pumbaa rounded up grubs with help from Bunga and shared their catch with Alex and his friends. Melman was reluctant as the insects were still alive, but he tried a few grubs.

"They're so good," said Gloria as she downed a particularly meaty grub.

"Yeah, they do hit the spot pretty good," said Timon.

"Like I always say about 'em: slimy yet satisfying," added Pumbaa.

Then Alex said, "This is better than that steak they kept feeding me at the zoo. I wish the people back home could see the splendor of this place."

This gave Marty an idea, and he said, "Say, Alex. Why don't you show our friends what life was like for us back at the show? We could start off with some of your act."

Alex was surprised at this, for he never expected to perform in front of other lions or even animals he had never met before coming to the Pride Lands, but he said, "You know, I bet I could give it a shot."

...

The whole lion pride and the Lion Guard gathered in a half-moon within the cave of Pride Rock, and Marty announced, "Ladies and gentle-lions, cubs of all ages, the original stars of New York's Central Park Zoo proudly present the one and only King of New York City: Alex the lion!"

At a gesture from Marty, Bunga and Beshte blew petals of flowers through logs to imitate fireworks, and that was the signal for Alex to begin. He began his with handstands, flips, waves, and poses that he had often used to impress the were mixed levels of excitement at Alex's performance, but it was fortunate that Simba and Nala were smiling with amused looks on their tawny faces.

Marty gave another signal, and it was time for Alex's main routine: his dance. He started out with the bob and weave which got murmurs of curiosity from the lion pride. Then Alex stepped up his game and did the worm, then he did the fancy feet, and next he did the hip swish followed by the twist-and-twirl.

Timon and Pumbaa were particularly amazed and watched Alex with rapt attention. Timon said softly to his buddy, "Whoa, Mommy! That's dancing for ya!"

"We ought to try that ourselves some time, Timon," Pumbaa suggested.

Then Alex had a lightbulb go off in his head and said, "And you can, guys! Come on up and give it a try!"

Timon and Pumbaa did, and they soon got into the rhythm. In less than a minute, Timon and Pumbaa were dancing beside Alex, and the urge to dance with him was so great that Simba and Nala went up with Kiara and Kion to join him. Bunga and Beshte joined the dance and so did Fuli and Ono. Then the whole lion pride was moving and dancing to a music they had never heard before, and they found themselves like it, and before the performance ended, Alex got to roar with each of his fellow lions, though Kion had to use his own common growl as the Roar of the Elders would have blown them all away. Still, there was no denying that Alex's act was a huge hit, and soon it would have every Pride Land animal dancing to a beat that could rival Timon and Pumbaa's hakuna matata.
