Chapter 9-Saviour
Morning:
Place: Unknown old factory
Aoko had fallen asleep somehow. She didn't have any energy left. Her eyes were red and puffy due to crying. She had waited for Kaito all night but he didn't come. He was a liar, that's what she felt. She looked at the door as she heard a few footsteps coming towards the door.
She then heard sounds of opening a lock and the next second the door opened revealing Snake. She looked down back at the ground in disappointment screaming Kaito is a liar in her head. Snake went close to her.
"So, your boyfriend still has not shown up. What can we do with you till then?" he cupped her face. Aoko felt disgusted by his touch.
"He is just a liar, why did you even believe him?" she asked him back ignoring that he had called Kaito her boyfriend.
"Oh, is that so?" he left her face. "But I do believe that he will bring that Pandora to me, to save you of course."
"Pandora?" she had heard about such thing for the first time.
"You had it with you all this time and you don't know?" he asked her.
She just looked at him with a big question mark on her face. She knew nothing regarding this. But before she could ask him any question, smoke covered the whole room. She closed her eyes and tried not to breathe in the smoke. In a few seconds, she felt hands on her hands trying to untie hers. She opened her eyes. The person in front of her was Kaito Kid, no, Kuroba Kaito, her childhood friend, the one she loves as much as she hates. He was in his Kaito Kid disguise but he did not wear that monocole. She did not say a word. Kaito looked at her. He understood how hurt she was, the pain in her eyes said everything. He did not find words important at that time. So, he just smiled, a warm and kind smile. He was glad to know she was alive. She was confused, why did he smile? But anger took over her and she looked away. He freed her and made her stand. The smoke was still covering them.
"Run straight and there is a window from which I came in. Go out from there, Hakuba is waiting outside." He told her.
"I won't. I need answers, Kaito!" she firmly said.
He looked at her. He can't run away from her now. The time when she has to be told the truth has come. He threw some more smoke balls. And then he pulled her in a hug.
"I will answer all of your questions Aoko, but for now your safety is important. Please run away." He broke the hug and pulled her towards the window. As much as she was startled by his actions, she decided to trust him. With one last look at him, she jumped out of the window.
On the other side:
Bourbon parked his car and got out. Vermouth was already waiting for him. He opened the backseat door and pulled a strawberry blonde woman out. Her hands and mouth were tied. He walked towards Vermouth pulling that woman with him.
"Great job Bourbon~" Vermouth praised him. "I was surprised that you found her." She emphasised on the you purposely.
"I am a man of doing jobs." He just smirked.
Vermouth chuckled and asked him to follow her. They went inside. Shiho couldn't help but feel anxious and scared. She could sense the vibes of the members, especially Gin. Rei could feel her hands trembling in his hold. He looked at her and gave her a reassuring smile. She just kept looking at him wondering whether his smile helped her calm down a bit or just increased her heartbeats more.
Vermouth stopped in front of a big hall. It did not seem like a normal hall though as it was an old ruined factory. Shiho looked around and she was able recognize the members standing in the room. Feeling more afraid she closed her eyes. She was able to hear sound of footsteps coming close to her. She was still in Rei's grasp but a new hand touched her cheeks. She felt disgusted. She knew whose hand it was. No one else other than Gin touched her like this. She wanted to run away but if she does, either she will be killed or their plan will fail. She decided to be patient.
"I must praise you, Bourbon. You finally caught the rat in trap we had be trying to catch since years." Gin smirked looking at Rei.
"Well, I can do what you cannot do, Gin." Bourbon returned the smirk.
Gin always hated Bourbon. He sometimes reminded him of Akai Shuichi. If it wasn't for Vermouth's interruption always, he could have killed Bourbon and somehow, he had Rum's liking.
"Now that you have done your work, hand her over to me." Gin held out his hand.
"Why hurry Gin? She is all yours, do whatever you want to do. Can we wait till the Boss and Rum come?" Bourbon insisted.
"They are already here, waiting in the back room for the traitor to come. I will take her to them." Gin informed as he held Shiho's hand.
"Gin, something worse happened!" some member came running.
"What happened?" he asked.
"Kaito Kid showed up! He is not alone. They are attacking the back." He informed.
"What?" Vermouth exclaimed.
"I will take Shiho to Boss and Rum and inform them; you all go and help them out." Gin ordered.
Furuya smirked and took out his gun. He then aimed at the window and shot a bullet. The glass shattered.
"What are you doing?" Gin asked.
"Trying to make a way, for my friends!" he turned his gaze towards the window. Gin followed his gaze and the FBI along with PSB started coming inside.
Gin gave horrified look. "You damn traitor!" he pulled out his own gun aiming at Furuya. "Hand me Shiho or I will kill you!" he threatened.
"Do you think it will threaten me? Look behind." Furuya told him.
Gin looked behind. Shinichi was standing close to him aiming him.
"Obediently take us to where Boss and Rum are hiding." Furuya suggested.
Gin had to agree.
Looking at Shiho, he let go of her and freed her. "Go with Hattori-kun, he will take you to a safe place." Shiho was looking at him but she had no intentions of leaving them alone.
"I won't!" she rejected.
"Don't be an idiot! Go!" Shinichi yelled at her.
"I am not going to leave you guys here and go somewhere safe." She cried holding on to Furuya's hand.
"You have to go Shiho. I have promised you remember; I will definitely protect the people you love; you are not going to lose anyone anymore!" he patted her head.
His eyes had the look which was enough for her to persuade. She let go of his hand and turned towards Shinichi who was still pointing his gun at Gin. And with a final glance at Furuya she turned and ran towards the window. Furuya gave a sigh in relief and followed Shinichi and Gin.
A few minutes before Furuya and Shiho reaches:
Kaito looked at Aoko going away from the place for one last time. He then continued his way towards Snake. Snake couldn't see Kaito because of the smoke but he knew Kaito won't let him go easily.
"Keep your attention on Nakamori Aoko!" he ordered his subordinates.
Little did he know that Aoko was already gone.
"Try it!" Kaito chuckled.
"Snake, that girl is gone!" one person informed him.
The smoke disappeared in a few seconds, and everyone could see Kaito Kid sitting on the chair. Snake glared at him angrily.
"You brought the Pandora, right? Give it!" Snake ordered him.
Kaito stood up and took out the Pandora pendant attached to a golden chain from his pocket.
"This is what you wanted right?" he held that locket in front of Snake. "And for this you hurt Aoko!" Kaito was angry. Seeing Aoko's face he understood that Snake told her everything and now she is hurt.
"You still care about your girlfriend, don't you Kaito Ki- sorry Kuroba Kaito!" Snake tried to tease him. "Now that she knows who you are, she won't even look at you." He smirked.
Kaito just looked at him, his eyes full of anger. He doesn't mind Aoko hating him, but he doesn't want Aoko to hurt herself because of him.
"I am not leaving any of you alive." He plainly stated and fired his gun outside the window. A card flew out. It was signal for Hakuba and others to attack. As soon as they entered the building, the police started taking upon Snake and his members. Kaito, Hakuba and Akako took the charge and finished that small part of the organization.
They knew that others would come to help them, and as deduced Gin sent others to help. Till then the FBI and PSB also arrived seeing Furuya Rei's signal. Everywhere was chaos. The noises of yelling and punching along with firing was echoing.
On the other side, Furuya and Shinichi were with Gin trying to go to the Boss and Rum. Furuya has always been wanting to ask Gin about why he wanted Shiho so badly. She was just a traitor so why he wants her alive.
"I have been wanting to ask you Gin, what is your relation to Shiho? Why you want her?" Furuya asked him not taking his eyes from him.
"I don't have any relation with her. If I have any relation, then that is with her body." Gin smirked.
Furuya and Shinichi both understood his intentions. It made the furious as he came to know how he had harassed her. Furuya couldn't keep up his façade. He strongly kicked Gin. Gin shouted in pain as he bumped into the hall nearby. Furuya held him by his collar and pulled him up. He started punching him ruthlessly. Because of what he had done with Shiho, no doubt she used to shiver down to the core whenever she sensed his presence. And Furuya had no idea she had gone through such hell. He couldn't calm himself down listening to Gin. Shinichi was trying to do his best to stop him.
Someone pulled Furuya from the back and Gin collapsed down as Furuya's hold on him got weaker.
"Stop it, Furuya!" it was Akai Shuichi.
"I won't! When you will hear to what he has done to Shiho, you will kill him too." Furuya yelled trying to free himself from Akai's grip.
"Furuya, I know! But for now, we must focus on Boss and Rum, otherwise our efforts till now will go in vain. Shiho's life might be in danger again." Akai tried to explain.
Furuya calmed down. Shinichi pulled Gin up and they started walking towards the room where Boss and Rum were. As Gin opened the room, both were not there.
"Oye, there is no one here. Where are they?" Shinichi asked him.
"They were supposed to be in this room. Maybe because of the chaos they ran." Gin told them.
All of them left the room and came to the front side. Shinichi pulled Gin along with him. The fighting was still on going. Kaito and Hakuba had also joined. Shinichi was explaining to Kaito about the situation. Just then Furuya saw someone aiming for Shinichi. But it was late to run and snatch the gun or to tell Shinichi to dodge the bullet, so he ran towards Shinichi as he was close to him and pushed Shinichi aside. Shinichi fell on the floor and the bullet pierced through Furuya's right shoulder. Furuya groaned in pain as he held his wounded shoulder and collapsed.
Furuya saw who was the one shooting, it was Rum. "Kudo-kun, follow Rum!" he pointed towards him. Shinichi ran following Rum; he knew that Boss will be somewhere near Rum. And as per he deduced, Rum had met Boss to help him run away. They were on the way towards the car when Shinichi shot a bullet aiming at the tire. From the window, Akai used his sniper and aimed at Boss' leg. He pulled the trigger and the bullet perfectly scratched the Boss' left leg. Shinichi reached near them and caught Rum and Boss.
"It's over!" he stated.
After a few hours:
Everything was over. The officials were working on arresting those who were less injured. Some were making records of the criminals who were dead. Shinichi stood there looking at the place. Finally, it was over. The organization which he was chasing for years was now over. He wanted to rush to Ran and Shiho and tell them that everything is over.
Sera went and kept her hand on his shoulder. "You can go Kudo, leave other things to us." She told him.
"Is it okay?" he asked.
"Of course! How many years you have been making my best friend wait? Just go and over it." She grinned and left.
Shinichi smiled. Now it's the time when he should tell Ran everything. Even though he was tired and injured, he found the strength to go and meet Ran. Heiji has told Kazuha to be with Ran at Kudo's mansion. Shinichi's parents, Shiho and Aoko were supposed to be there too.
"Hattori!" he called out for his best friend. "Shall we go?" he asked.
"Of course!" Hattori smiled as he took out key of his bike.
Almost after 30 minutes of driving, they reached Kudo's mansion. Shinichi took out the helmet and ran inside.
"Tadaima (I'm home)!" he yelled as he opened the door.
His mother and Ran came out of the hall as soon as they heard his voice.
"Shin-chan!" his mother teared up as she hugged her son. "Okaeri (Welcome home)!" she welcomed him.
Ran stood at the back smiling through the tears. Heiji has told Kazuha to let Ran know everything they are going to do so that Shinichi doesn't have to explain everything. So, Ran had an idea about what was happening.
Shiho came running out as she heard Shinichi's voice. "Kudo-kun!" she exclaimed.
"Shiho!" he smiled looking at her and Shiho just smiled back. But then she saw only Shinichi and Heiji, Akai or Furuya wasn't there. She kept searching.
"Kudo-kun, where are Shu-nii and Furuya-san?" she asked him.
"Akai-san is still with FBI and Furuya-san…" Shinichi paused and then looked down. "He was taken to the hospital." He told her.
"What!" she exclaimed in shock. What the hell he did to himself! "What happened?" she asked him.
Shinichi understood her feelings. So, he just decided to tease her a little bit.
"Rum was trying to shoot me, and Furuya-san saw him. He pushed me to save me and got hit with the bullet instead." He told her.
Her eyes teared up. She remembered him saying that she won't lose anyone anymore.
Idiot!
"Where is he?" she asked Shinichi.
"Beika Hospital." He told her.
Without wasting a second, she started running out of the house.
"Wait, I will take you there on bike. That will be fast, right?" Heiji suggested.
Shiho just nodded and then left with Heiji while Shinichi smirked.
Find your happiness Shiho.
Beika Hospital:
Shiho got off the bike and ran inside. She stopped in front of the receptionist.
"Excuse me, can I know in which room Furuya Rei-san is? Sorry, not Furuya Rei, Amuro Tooru, ah but his real name is Furuya. That idiot!" she yelled finding him annoying.
"Sorry, but there is someone named Furuya hospitalized here, do you want to meet him?" the receptionist asked Shiho.
"Yes!" she quickly answered.
"He is in room number 103 on the first floor." The receptionist informed her.
"Thanks!" Shiho thanked her and ran towards the stairs without even wasting a second. She hated the smell of hospital. It always made her sick.
She searched for the room number 103 and stopped as soon as she found it. Knocking on the door twice, she entered the room. And there he was, Furuya Rei, sleeping. His right shoulder was covered in bandage. She slowly walked closer to him trying not to wake him up. She sat on the chair nearby and softly put her hand on his.
"Furuya-san!" she whispered his name. "Thank you!"
She didn't speak for a few minutes. She was searching for words, trying to make sentences in her own mind to say when he wakes up. Because she isn't good at it. He got hurt because he was trying to save Kudo-kun. His words kept on repeating in her mind. Did he know about her feelings for Shinichi? She doesn't want to lose him. His presence in her life had become that important for her.
"Furuya-san, I-" she hesitated but then continued, "I lost my family to the black organization. And you, you also lost people precious to you. When you told me how much my family means to you, I was really happy, very happy to know that someone shares the same feelings as me. We both grew up in a situation where we constantly fought for ourselves. You became a PSB for searching my family and then joined BO as a spy for searching me. I became a part of BO for searching my family's murderer. We both have lived our lives as someone else more than we have lived as ourselves. Thinking back as Haibara Ai, I always thought that I have nothing as Miyano Shiho so I planned to keep living as Haibara Ai even if I make the antidote. But then I turned back to Shiho. You told me about yourself and your relation with my family. At that moment I thought, someone knows me as Miyano Shiho, even before I was born. There is someone who has a precious connection with my family." Tears were rolling over her cheeks.
"You became my reason to live as Miyano Shiho, Furuya-san!" she wiped her tears with another hand not letting go of his hand.
Aoko was standing outside Kudo's Mansion in the front yard. Seeing Shinichi return made her worry about Kaito. Even though she won't show it, she wants him to come back. Even though he is the person whom she hates, she cannot forget that he is the person whom she loves more than anything. He is her one and only childhood friend, and also her first love. Aoko has decided, to listen to whatever he has to say.
She heard the main gate of the mansion opening. Hakuba along with Kaito came in. Kaito was still in the Kid's disguise except for his hat and monocle. He had few small injuries. Her and Kaito's eyes met. But she looked away instantly. Hakuba kept his hand on Kaito's shoulder as if reassuring him that everything will be fine. Kaito nodded and Hakuba went inside, leaving Kaito and Aoko. He walked towards her and stood beside her.
"Aoko!" he paused. "Are you okay?" he softly asked feeling worried about her.
"What do you think Kaito?" she asked him turning towards him with her eyes full of anger and hurt.
He sadly looked down at the ground. He wanted to hold her close and apologize. But he was hesitating. He had hurt the girl her loves the most and he is not sure whether she will forgive him. "I'm sorry Aoko!" he apologized not knowing which words to use.
"Do you think an apology will be enough? I want answers Kaito." She held his white coat. "Why you became a thief? Why you didn't tell me or dad anything? Why did you hide it from me? Tell me Kaito!" she pleaded, tears streaming down her face.
"It's because I love you, Aoko!" he finally looked at her with concern and love in his eyes. Aoko's eyes widened in surprise by his sudden confession. "Because I love I didn't want to get you involved in this, but at the end, these people used you against me. Aoko, these guys killed my father, then my mother and they used you to get the Pandora. I had to pretend to be Kid for taking revenge of my parents' death." He continued telling her about his parents' death, the organization and how they tried to kill him for Pandora.
Aoko was really taken aback. He was facing so much alone and she couldn't even be there for her, instead she kept on hating Kid. Even though Kid always returned the jewels he stole, she just kept on blaming and hating him as her dad used to be busy running around Kid's heists and were not able to give time to her. Kaito did his best to be there for Aoko.
"Kaito, that man in black hat mentioned that I had Pandora but I didn't know." She told him.
"Yes Aoko." He took out Pandora attached in chain from his pocket. "Nakamori-san gave it to me to bring you back. I will return it back to you." He moved close to her and wrapped the chain around her neck locking it in the hooks properly.
"This pendent, it was given by my mom. She had it but then she gave it to me." she clenched the pendent remembering about her mom.
He smiled looking at her. She looked at him and a blush crept across her cheeks when she found him smiling at her. How could she forget that the guy she loves had just confessed her a few minutes ago? She had forgiven him. Because whatever he did was for getting revenge for his parents' death, though his parents won't come back. He was lonely. He couldn't even tell her what he was going through just to keep her safe. But now everything is over. She won't let him keep his poker face anymore.
She slowly leaned forward and hugged him burying her face in his chest. At first, he was astonished by her sudden hug and then he relaxed as he hugged her back holding her waist. She could hear his fastened heartbeats.
"I'm sorry Kaito. I was not able to do anything for you when you were suffering so much." She apologized him.
"Don't apologize Aoko! You being by my side was enough for me. So, just stay with me. I don't want anything else." He told her.
"I will always be there with you Kaito, because I love you. I need you Kaito!" she hugged him tighter.
Kaito broke the hug and looked at her, eyes widened in surprise. But then he smiled and hugged her back feeling safe and relaxed.
They had struggled for so long, and now finally their struggle and suffering has ended.
Finally I was able to update. I'm sorry for taking a long time. My project ended on 31st so there were lot of closure activities. So, I tried my best to give a longer chapter. Thank you for reading! I hope you liked it!
