The next morning, CJ decided to walk back to the garage. There was only one more item left to redesign the garage: the fabric. So CJ returned to the garage in Doherty to meet up with the others. He saw Cesar, Ryder, and LB circled together having a discussion. They turned to see CJ.
"What's up, homie?" Ryder told CJ, giving him some dap.
"What's happening, Ryder?" CJ greeted back.
"Carl, que pasa?" Cesar replied.
"Ceez, back at ya, hombre," CJ replied.
"Yo what's up, CJ?" LB said.
"No prob, LB," CJ replied. "What y'all up to?"
"So we were just having a little discussion," Ryder answered. "About what we should have the garage designed like."
"Si, holmes," Cesar added. "We're thinking of something that speaks loud for this decade, something timeless. What do you think?"
"Man, I do like this place to represent the '90s," CJ told him, "but I don't want it to be too dated as the years pass on."
"Jeah," Ryder said. "I already spoke to Lisa about this and she's wondering what logos best fits the garage's style."
"Well, we'll have to save that discussion until after we finish the garage," LB told them all. "Right now, here comes Lisa."
CJ's heart beat rapidly as he saw Lisa arrive. His stomach started tying to knots once again. He just couldn't seem to stay internally stable whenever he would see Lisa come around.
"Okay, guys," Lisa told him, holding the list in front of her. "We got everything on the list. Now all we need is the fabrics. Carl, didn't you say that the old man back at Flint County has some fabric back at his hut?"
"Ah I forgot!" CJ protested. "We were supposed to grab the fabric from him last night! Fuck!"
"It's fine, Carl," Lisa told him. "Just go back and get the fabric from him. And you might want to do it before night falls, before you run into any more wild nocturnal animals. Please be careful out there, Carl."
"Don't worry, Lisa," Carl said, picking up a rifle from against the wall. "I'm prepared this time."
"Cool," LB said. "Don't become no African barbecue sandwich!"
CJ headed out of the garage door and hopped into the Washington parked outside. He started the engine and squealed away on the road. The morning air today was still, and the sun was barely present, hiding behind the white clouds. The traffic was absent, giving CJ a smoother ride through the freeway. He drove down the end of the freeway and made a left turn on Whetstone.
The roads started to get a little bumpy as he drove onto the mountainside, and he struggled to keep in control of the vehicle. When he finally reached Flint County, he pulled in front of Truth's hut and hopped out of the vehicle.
"Truth!" CJ called. "You in there?!"
He walked inside to see Truth meditating.
"Welcome back, Carl," Truth replied, not opening his eyes. "If you're looking for the fabric, then I got a whole supply of them here in the back."
"Thanks for that, Truth," CJ said. He walked up to the pile of fabric. But then shouted frantically when he attempted to spread it out. Hundreds of roaches crawled around them, and they seemed to stay right on there, as if to remind anyone that the fabric was their property.
"Motherfucker!" CJ shouted. "Truth, you didn't tell me this fabric had bugs!"
This caused Truth to finally open his eyes by surprise and stand on his feet. He rushed over to find the insects crawling all over the fabric.
"Holy shit!" Truth called out. "I knew I should've washed these before leaving them out!"
"Well how you suggest we kill these disgusting crawlers?!" CJ asked.
"Here," Truth said, handing CJ a container. "This is homemade bug killer. Invented it myself. Totally non-toxic...on fabric of course! Just press the green button, set it down by the roaches, and watch."
So CJ took the container from Truth's hands and placed it next to the fabric of roaches. He pressed the green button and the green gas inside permeated around the fabric, killing all the roaches instantly.
CJ and Truth walked over to the fabric. "Now that, my friend, is a salutary way to terminate creepy insects like those," Truth told CJ, who stared at the dead cockroaches all over the fabric.
CJ grabbed the edge of the fabric cautiously and frantically shook the insects off of it. The dead cockroaches fell to the floor as they fell off the fabric.
"Great!" CJ groaned. "Now I gotta fucking wash this! Where's the closest laundromat, Truth?"
"I know one over at Montgomery," Truth told CJ. "It's very cheap there, and they don't charge anywhere near as much as many do."
"A'ight then," CJ relied. "Good looking out, Truth."
So CJ took the fabric inside the car and hopped inside. He started the engine and took off below the mountain. Making a few hairpins here and there and keeping control on the driving, he made his way to Montgomery, where he finally found a laundromat called 69 Water Works.
CJ hopped out of the car and took the fabric with him inside the laundromat. As he entered the place, he went to find a close washer. He found one right next to the door and stuffed the fabric inside. He added in the laundry detergent and let it wash for thirty minutes. After that, he stored it into a dryer on the other side and sat down on a chair to reach a magazine. After thirty minutes, CJ lifted his head out of it to find a random guy stealing the fabric out of the dryer.
"Hey!" CJ yelled, dropping his magazine.
The guy stared back and quickly swiped the fabric from the dryer. He then made a dash to the front door, and before CJ could catch up to him, the guy took away on a truck. CJ hopped inside his vehicle and chased after the thief. The chase scene happened through the Badlands, and CJ attempted to ram the driver out of the road to retrieve the fabric. He knew that if he had killed the thief, he would ruin the fabric he had washed and dried, not to mention it would give his illicit activities away since it would be coated in the victim's blood. So CJ rammed into the driver and made it slam against the tree.
CJ hopped out of his vehicle and looked into the other vehicle to see that the driver inside had been killed via impact of slamming into the tree. CJ then saw that the fabric inside the vehicle was still in mint condition. So He reached inside the car and grabbed it. He walked over to his vehicle, stored the fabric inside, and hopped inside to drive away.
The good thing is that this is the last item and I no longer have to worry about this shit ever again, CJ thought.
He had been stressing out from all of this. All he wanted was to collect the material to redesign the garage, and he couldn't even do that without some random incident ruining it for him. But he was finally glad he got it over it and was prepared to work on the garage.
CJ got back to the garage in one piece and walked inside with the fabric.
"I got the fabric, Lees!" he called out. "It's all clean and disinfected!"
Lisa walked out of the office and strolled to CJ. She touched the fabric CJ was still holding and gave it a modest sniff.
"Disinfected, huh?" Lisa replied. "Okay, Carl, what happened this time?"
"You see," CJ started, "Truth had this lying in his hut and I found that a bunch of roaches were crawling all over it."
"Ew!" Lisa shrieked, making a disgusting face. "For real?!"
"No joke!" CJ replied. "So I took it to the laundromat and got it cleaned thoroughly."
"Well," Lisa said, "at least you cleaned it real good. Thanks, Carl. You're very helpful."
"No problem, Lisa," CJ told her.
The others started to circle around the two.
"Right on, Carl!" Cesar cheered. "You got the fabric!"
"Nice work, Carl," Kendl added. "Now we got everything to redesign the garage with."
"Yeah," Jethro said, "like, let's make a garage dude."
"Time to get to work," Dwaine added.
"Yeah, time to dress up, folks!" Lisa announced. "It's gonna be a long job for us!"
So everyone gathered around and each grabbed a work outfit to take it with them to change into. CJ was probably the most eager to redesign the garage. After Catalina and Claude had given him the garage's deed while leaving it an abandoned mess, Lisa had come around to help remodel it to make it into what CJ wanted. He had already purchased the car showroom, so now it was time to finish the new design on the garage. It would take a lot of time, but it would be worth it in the end.
