Ch.6 Whitley's Recruitment Part 2
It was a relatively peaceful afternoon in Maine, as two guards are standing next to each other on a runway. They were currently guarding it as behind them lies a huge plane, where inside there were even more guards waiting at their post for the arrival of their co-workers. But back outside the guard has been standing at their post for the past few hours, and needless to say one of them is getting real bored waiting.
"This is the most boring assignment in the world." A guard thought as he watched for a nonexistent intruder alongside his partner.
He knew that he wasn't supposed to talk during guard duty, but at that point, he didn't care. He needed something to do besides stare at roads and grass.
"Hey," he said to his partner.
"Yeah?" the other man said, in as bored a tone as the first guard felt.
"You ever wonder why we're here?" The first guard asks.
The other man looked at him. "That's one of life's big mysteries, isn't it? I mean, why are we here? I mean, are we the product of some cosmic coincidence or is there really a God watching everything, you know, with a plan for us and stuff? I don't know, man… but it keeps me up at night."
The first man stared at him as if he was crazy for what he is talking about. "What the hell are you talking about? I meant why we were here, on this runway."
"Oh, yeah." The other man said sheepishly.
"What's all the stuff about God?" The man asked
"Nothing…" The other man said.
"You want to talk about it?" The first man asks as this was better than standing in silence.
"No." The other man insisted.
"You sure?" The first man asks once more just to be sure.
"Yeah." The other man confirmed.
"Seriously though, why are we out here? As far as I can tell, we're in the middle of Maine, nobody knows where this place is, and we have enough guards that can actually take over the government. And all of it is for, what, to help bring in more kids and breed them into weapons? Whoop-dee-fucking-doo." The first man said in a bored tone.
The second guard looked down for a second before answering. "Well, we do want to get X-23 back. Isn't that obvious?"
He shot his partner a sidelong glance "Well, duh; I still think we could be more useful for something else instead of guard duty."
"Maybe so, but at least we are—wait, here they come." The other man points towards the forest where a black semi-truck is driving towards the guards.
"We better get our game on." The first guard told his partner.
"Yup." The other man agrees as he then bangs his hand against the cargo of the plane in a hard knock tone. This signals the guards inside to open the cargo entrance so they can load up their targets.
Soon as it opens up more guards, with no weapons, walkout as they wait for the semi-trailer truck to arrive. They eventually made it out as they watch the semi-trailer truck pull up next to the plane. The driver and the passenger walk out of it and head to the end of the semi-trailer truck as they then look at each other.
With a nod to one another, they prepare for themselves for what's to come out. As soon as they are ready, they slowly open up the semi-trailer truck to reveal something. There were at least ten different teens and they each wore a collar. These are inhibitor collars that are specially designed to prevent the wearer from accessing their meta-human abilities, and also to apply electric shocks powerful enough to render a person unconscious.
It is also worth mentioning that each collar had it's own remote control for the guards to use anytime they wanted. The reason why these super soldiers are capturing them is so they can perform experiments on meta-human teens that they have kidnapped from either their homes or runaway teens.
In every other seat, there were at least ten more guards as they watched the teens making sure they didn't escape. The guard closest to the door grabs the first teen's arm as he yanks her up hard.
"Get up and move!" The guard said in a demanding tone as the girl had no choice in the matter.
They soon got down as the guard pushed her towards the airplane cargo, not far behind her the rest were getting pulled off the trucks. She trips a little as she turns back to the guard with anger in her eyes. The girl has tried to use her powers before, but with no vail. Seeing that the girl won't move, immediately brought anger in the guard's eyes as it began to glow light blue before the electricity came out of it.
Turns out all of the guards belong to the Facility, an organization with goals of creating genetically altered weapons and soldiers, like these here. They are also responsible for creating X-23, who likes to be called Laura Kinney, or Talon as her code name. And just like these super-soldiers, they were experimented on as well, but the only difference between the meta-human teens and them is that they actually volunteered for it. As they believe in the Facility as they love hurting people for the fun of it.
Each of the super-soldiers has the same powers as one another as they are now considered one of the most powerful experiments that the Facility has ever done as they can almost even rival the Wolverine….almost.
The guard then raises his hand and shoots a powerful electric blast at her as it shocks her greatly. She begins to scream in absolute pain as she could not do anything to stop it. It was like that for a couple of seconds, but for the girl, it felt like hours before the guard finally stopped.
"Now get moving, you animals! We're already late capturing you freaks." The guard said as kicks her in the stomach.
The girl groans in pain before she has the strength to get off the floor and slow walk to the pain. She whimpers in pain as she also limps to the cargo hold. After a few minutes of silent walking, they finally made it to the cargo hold, where two other guards were there waiting for them. Now before they all can grab her and shove her into the plane, a loud scream stops their tracks.
"RRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" A young woman yells as she comes flying down to one of the super-soldiers near the girl. The woman also seems to have two large adamantium claws on each fist as she comes down and slices the super soldier's arm off.
This startled the shit out of the super-soldier as he screams in absolute pain, blood was splattered everywhere as bones were sticking out of the arm. It was gushing red as the guard never screamed so hard in his entire life. Before anything else can happen, the woman slices his face, which causes more blood to be splattered. His face was now covered in deep scars as he then fell to the ground, lifeless, as the woman killed him. She then looks up to the rest of the guards in front of her as she gives a glare, that even the Dark Knight would even be impressed on how pissed she is.
The woman that did that was 5'6" in height with slender stature, yet has an athletic build. Something any guy would look in her direction as she was in really good shape with almost everywhere in her body was toned, but she was muscled. The young woman has raven black hair that goes down her shoulders with green eyes. She was wearing black leather jeans as the sides are gray as she wore black combat boots.
She has a black mid-drift shirt, with black shoulder armor as the black goes to her torso and middle, with the sides being gray. She has on a black belt buckle that had an 'X' on it. She was wearing black gauntlets that went from her elbows and down as fingerless gloves. Around her neck was a necklace with a black pendant attached. This young woman was none other than Laura Kinney, who was X-23 but now goes by Talon.
Seeing their comrade dead in a mere second, the super-soldiers immediately ran towards her, while two ran back towards the semi-trailer truck. Once they are there, they violently throw some of the teens back in the trailer to keep some more as hostages. After they did that, they quickly went to the front seats of the truck and sped off away from the woman as they began to escape from the runaway.
Back with the guards, they were in absolute rage that someone is trying to stop their mission. Now all of them seem to be glowing blue they fired their electrokinesis at her, but as each blast was fired Talon easily dodge them as she jumps left to right. She then crouch out of the way from another blast before she has to dodge to the side.
Which was very difficult as she barely manage to do so. Talon quickly ran towards one of them as she jumps on their shoulders in reverse and wraps her legs around his head. She then unleashed claws onto the guy's shoulders, before using her martial arts skills to pull herself back down on the ground as she does a hurricanrana.
More begins to come closer to her as they have surrounded the daughter of Wolverine. Talon glares at them, while the super soldiers grin seeing her trap between them as they think that she is now defeated. Then all at once, they fired their electricity, but with so many coming to her at once in close range, she couldn't dodge them all. Which resulted in her being blasted to the ground in pain, she screamed as they continued to blast her and hopefully kill her.
But after a minute or so they stop as they turn to one another thinking they have gotten her, so thinking she is done for, one of them went to go grab her. But all at once, it went so fast, that all super soldiers didn't even have time to act as Talon unleashed her adamantium claws from her foot and gave one super-soldier that was near her a roundhouse kicked to the face. But since her foot claws were out, it slashes the soldier's face off as he screams in pain.
The claws went through the face as the nose and mouth were now slashed open with blood being poured out everywhere. After that trick, she turns to the ground only for her foot to hit the other soldiers in the stomach as she hits it too, with the guts coming all out. Quickly she runs towards another soldier to give a sweep off his feet. But he jumps in the air to dodge it, Talon has her claws out of her left fist and chucks the claws into his chest.
But something surprises Talon as the guy just gave her a stare as he pulls her fist off his stock. She can see that the guy is healing as he pulls his arms back and punch her hard across the face. She got punched a couple of feet, but she quickly shoves it off as she now runs towards her. He does the same as well as they clash with each other as they begin to trade blows with each other as they try to punch one another only for the other to miss and dodge it.
Left and right it keeps happening as finally after one more strike from the guy, Talon has enough of the stalemate before she pulls back leg then quickly kicks the guy in the balls. He howls in pain as something like that would be hard to heal from that. He falls to the ground as he touches it, as to hope to lessen the pain.
"Heal, from that," Talon said as a soldier try to run towards her.
She sensed his presence as she was going to hit him anyway. But before he can even get close to her, a yellow flaming chain that seems to be on fire wraps around the soldier. He begins to scream as the fire was burning him up intensely, and before he even knew it, he turns to ashes as his remains fly off to the wind. The person who did that was five feet from Talon.
It was obviously a man as he stood 5'11" and was wearing black leather pants, black leather boots, black leather gloves, and a black leather jacket that was zipped up with what appeared to be two sevens, one backward, the other forward, combined in a big white stripe. In his hands was the chain he held that killed the soldier. But what is surprising about this man was his skull, a flaming skull in fact as he has no eyeballs or anything like that, except for what seemed to be blazing fury.
This was none other than Ghost Rider, the Spirit of Vengeance that kills people that are considered guilty as he sometimes has no choice but to kill them.
"Now what did I say about watching that behind?" Ghost Rider said but with a sly smirk as the flames died down from his skull revealing to be twenty-one-year-old Robbie Reyes. He was Latino with dark skin and brown eyes, he also had a small beard that was trimmed.
"I thought that was your job," Talon told him with a small smile on her face, as they embraced each other in a kiss. It was a nice and sweet kiss as they pulled away. "So did you take care of the truck?"
"Yup, the guards are spending a little time in hell," Robbie said as Talon laughed. "But the kids are safe, so I called the police to help pick them up. They should be safe now."
"Great, this was a good lead on this tip you had. We finally stop the Facility from causing more harm." Talon said. "I'm curious though, who gave you this tip?"
"Oh…just one of my contacts from my uncle's old friends…" Robbie lies as he hopes Laura doesn't find out that a certain Kryptonian helps him.
Talon can sense something about what Robbie had said was a lie, but she trusts him, and if he isn't willing to share this kind of secret then she can respect it. Besides, there was no reason to doubt him if she needed to be left in the dark.
Then suddenly they hear a noise as they turn around and see the bodies that Laura has killed, rise from the dead. They all stand up with their bodies still open with the wound, but then out of nowhere, it starts to heal the wound. Something similar to Talon and Wolverine when they heal. All of them seem to be growing back their limbs as they fix their bodies.
Soon after a few seconds, they were all back in full health ready to battle the two heroes again. Talon and Robbie turn to one another with a smirk as Robbie turns into Ghost Rider once more. Talon's fist made a snip noise, as she let her claws out, while Ghost Rider whips out his chain. The two stood by each other in a fighting stance as they were ready to take on these soldiers again. But before they could do it, something out of nowhere in the sky struck a couple of soldiers as they were somehow encased in ice.
It froze them completely, as everyone was shocked. Talon was about to get pissed because she believes it was someone she knows. But she was wrong as something big and white that was seven feet tall jumped down to break the frozen soldiers as they shattered completely like glass, but not before leaving cracks on the ground.
The soldiers themselves were into pieces as they were too frozen to heal something like that. This creature looks to be a white female wolf of some kind on it's legs as it resembles a werewolf. The wolf, who was seven feet tall, has large fangs that were in a snarl mood with icy blue eyes that shine brighter than the day. She looks to be toned with muscles as her hands were sharp claws that look to cut through almost anything.
But what's interesting is that her claws seem to be glowing icy blue as she looks to be conjuring ice herself from the palm of it. She had on light blue armor and was fitted for a more feminine design. On her upper arms, which would come as a surprise to some, were large, light blue patches of fur that resembled snowflakes. This was none other than Icewolf or Whitley, as she finally made it to the battle.
It took a couple of hours of the drive, but she finally made it. She was originally going to let Talon and Ghost Rider deal with it, then approach them, but decided against it and had some fun of her own. This way, when she kills the soldiers, the two heroes would know that she is on her side and mean them no harm….hopefully.
No one dared to move after that entrance as the soldiers weren't prepared for this beast to show up and ruin their getaway.
"Who's next?" Icewolf asks as she gets into a fighting stance.
But with no one moving, they all at once begin to glow blue as a couple shot their electrokinesis at her, but as it came she just dodge each and one of them. But with each blast she dodges, she blasts them with ice. Then in super speed she runs over to them and pouches them, shattering them into pieces like the soldiers before.
More came in and run towards her at super speed and then tried to punch and kick her. She dodges some of it, but couldn't block them all as there were too many for her to get away. She was hit with a left hook and right hook a couple of times with her super strength. Which did the trick as she was knocked to the ground. Before she can get up, the soldiers quickly grab a hold of her as they hold her in place, making her not move. Once she was locked in place, the soldiers laughed menacingly as they shocked her with their electrokinesis. She screams in pain as they start to hurt her.
Seeing that their new ally was in trouble, Talon and Ghost Rider were about to save her, but they were stopped by the Icewolf who gave a look of don't need any help. Before they can determine whether or not to listen, Icewolf begins to glow icy blue. Then before they all know it she starts to freeze her captures which were frozen in place, which she easily got out of as they were shattered. As soon as that was done she dodged the soldiers in front of her.
"Let's wrap this up," Icewolf said.
Using her super speed, she races around them and jumps high in the air. When she came down, she made a crater that was an ice blast that froze all of the soldiers in the area. None of them were fast enough to escape as they were now frozen solid, unable to move. Quickly she runs over each and every one of them and smashes them into pieces. With that done, she walks over to the remaining hostages.
"You're safe now, the police will be here in a few minutes," Icewolf told them as the remaining hostages were right by the plane as they hid.
"Thank you." One of the hostages said just as the police sirens could be heard. In the distance the police would be here in less than a minute multiple, as well as an ambulance, were coming to the hostage's aid.
Turning around, Talon and Ghost Rider were walking towards her. "Thanks for the help," Talon said as she was glad another hero was there to help them. Not that they needed it or anything, it's just good to have help every once in a while.
"Yeah, you kick ass." Ghost Rider said. "But who the hell are you?"
"I think it is a good idea we meet with fewer people here," Icewolf said as she gestured to the bodies, the hostages, and the incoming police.
"Agreed." The two heroes said.
"Well follow me, I know a place with fewer people knowing our business," Icewolf said as she jumps off into the forest.
"Should we trust her?" Talon asks.
"She seems to be alright. This wolf took down the super soldiers faster than us, so she must've done this intentionally if she wanted us to meet her." Ghost Rider points out.
"Agreed, but I don't trust her completely. We have to know what she needs with us. Plus we don't know if this was the Facility's plan in the first place. Might be a trap for all we know." Talon said to him.
"Well, whatever happens, we face it together." Ghost Rider said, which makes her smile at that. He then called his car which is a black 1969 Dodge Charger as it roared loudly as it pulled up to them. Getting in quickly, they follow Icewolf into the woods, just as the police and ambulance show up on the runway.
After a few minutes of driving and following Icwolf as she super leaps in the air, every few hundred meters, they finally made it back to the city. They were still in the forest but not too far away from the city as they could still hear cars driving around. Luckily it was far enough so they can have some privacy of their own.
Icewolf landed on the ground as she turn behind her to see the car driving up to her. Ghost Rider turns the car off as they get out of the car. They both glare at her as they were ready to keep their guar dup in case of a fight that might happen.
"Guy. Guys. Can you stop with the staring?'' The Icewolf started to say as the way those two looked at her creeped her out. "Look I'm a good guy like you two. I'm Icewolf and I came to help you."
"And how did you find us exactly?" Talon asks as she has her arms crossed.
"I didn't find you…Iron Man did." Icewolf answered. "He gave me your location to help you out."
"You know Iron Man?" Ghost Rider asks a little excitedly, but he shuts up when his girlfriend gives him a glare to not geek out now. "Sorry, but that's cool she knows him. How do you know him?"
"He's my godbrother," Icewolf said. "But there is another name you might know someone else." She said to them, but mostly to Laura. "Stormwolf and he's my brother."
This made Talon's eye go to shock as she and Ghost Rider were fighting alongside Stormwolf's sister. If Stormwolf is involved, then that means this Icewolf is really a good guy...girl. Talon has heard stories of Stormwolf through her father as he talks about him being on an old team with Stormwolf. Her father tells her that Stormwolf is considered the most powerful member of the team as they fought all kinds of crazy shits. Ghost Rider saw the look on his girlfriend's face when Icewolf mentioned the name. He knows that Stormwolf is supposed to be important as the first couple of months benign the Ghost Rider, he hears whispers of the name. But has zero clue on who he is.
"Babe? You ok?" Ghost Rider asks. "I've heard of the name before, but I don't know who he is."
"Well, the Stormwolf is an immortal benign that is sworn to protect the mortal world from other aliens, Gods, or other immortal monsters. He is a legendary godkiller as almost nothing can kill him." Talon explained.
"Damn, how powerful is this guy?" Ghost Rider asks as this Stormwolf is starting to sound like OP.
"Well, I know that a single Kryptonian can take him in his human form. But in his wolf form, that is another story, you would need at least four maybe five Kryptonians. It's worse though as I heard that he can evolve into a beast form that is unstoppable as nothing in the world can hurt or kill him like that." Talon explains to him.
"Holy shit." Ghost Rider curses as he turns back to Icewolf. "And your brother needs our help?"
"Technically, she was talking about our father. My brother recently took on the mantle for four years. And yeah me, Iron Man, and Stormwolf need your help." Icewolf stated.
"What do you need us for?" Talon asks.
"We're putting together a team. A group of individual heroes would do the same thing you two did today. We want to build a new generation of the old Renegade team that Wolverine and the old Ghost Rider were once a part of before. We want to make the hard choices that the Justice League are too scared to make. A team no other as it can finally stop crimes and criminals from getting away from the justice they deserve." Icewolf explains the team she wants them to be a part of.
The two turn to one another as they talk silently to each other but without a word leaving their lips. It is just if they are communicating telepathy, but it's not. After years of dating and working together, they know each other and how they would react to something like this.
"Look, this seems like a great opportunity for us to expand more for what we do, but we would like some time to think on this." Ghost Rider explains, which Icewolf totally understands.
"That's great, it'll be great if you guys join." Icewolf said as she handed them a drive with a weird 'R' initial on it. "That is the data on the members we have so far and in a week's time just go to the location where we will all meet. And wear civilian clothes too, we won't be needing them. Also when you do join, your family members and friends will be protected by us." Icewolf explains to them that she was a little excited as she needs more girlfriends to hang out with instead of her brothers. Don't get her wrong, she loves them to death but she needs to hang out with more girls as she always hangs out with them as it was getting a bit too much for her.
"Great, see you then," Talon said as Icewolf nodded as she jumps off to the distance and back into the deep forest.
"What do you think about this?" Talon asks as Ghost Rider turns the flames off as he becomes Robbie again.
"To be honest, I think it's a great opportunity for us to work with other heroes. Plus we can just a little more friends that are in this line of work. But I won't go if you won't." Robbie said to her.
Talon just smiles at Robbie's enthusiasm as she loves it so much, she leans towards him and gave a nice sweet kiss. "That's what I love about you and I completely agree. Now let's see what's on the drive back home." Talon said as they got back into the car and drove off to the city and on their way back to their house that they own together.
Well, that was intense as we finally got introduced to the daughter of Wolverine and Ghost Rider. And if you noticed or can't tell, Laura Kinney and Logan Howlett are cousins in law with David Callahan or Blur/Solarstorm. Yes, that's right, the guy Robbie was thinking of is David. the reason why I reveal this is sadly me and Stormwolf150 is no longer interested in this story.
I'm sorry, but with him not doing any stories and me working on my own, we just don't want to hassle with this one. i can tell you that this one was going to be completely different as we had like seven or nine stories planned. At one point we even were going to have a crossover with my YJHU, but we scrapped that too. Was originally going to write this story myself, but Stormwolf150 convinced me not to. I did want to at least post this chapter since it was already written and ready to go. But yeah, this story is now dead as I didn't want to delete this and people DM us about where this story is. This will stay on my site, but no more stories will be added.
But you are all wondering where the hell have I been for the past month and a half, right? Well I know I give poor excuses sometimes, and that's ok for hating for me being gone a lot, I understand too as I'm trying to post a lot with the number of stories I came up with. But the truth is, I work at Walmart, and because of that, they are now cutting a lot of people's hours. Meaning I don't get paid enough to cover my rent, food, and other expenses. I thought they were cutting my hours for three weeks, and when it was almost over, I thought it would be normal. I was so wrong as they cut me for another month, and I was not too happy about it. They are now giving me house once every three weeks or so. So I've been trying to find other jobs to support myself for the past month and a half as I need money to survive. You would think if I was cut from work, I would have time to write as I please, but no I don't. I had to find jobs so I can pay for stuff I need to survive and that's tough. Another reason why I haven't written was that I finally bought my first car, and I'm truly happy about it as I don't have to get a ride from Uber or friends and waste money. I hope you all can understand why I took a break from writing as I'm slowly getting back into making more content. I have ten more stories to post. Not all of them are ready just yet. Going to post the rest of the stories for the next few days, either two or three stories at a time as it will also explain this thing again. Like I said, sorry for the long hiatus as some of you would understand. Also no Heroes United: Unlimited is not for sales or any of my stories if you guys ask about it. Also before I forget, I want to let you know that most of my stories especially Earth's Mightiest heroes, DDSK Of RWBY, and heroes United: Unlimited are all getting an updated version of what I originally wrote a year ago. As I figure the dialogue and scenes can be now better. See you all tomorrow, peace out!
