Unknown Skies part 25
As Quebec Echo descended, Anna was struggling to contain herself with excitement. This was her first international journey with Elsa and she couldn't wait for the Boeing 757's wheels to touch down on the runway at Reykjavik. From what the Delta pilots had told them, there were hundreds of airliners of all shapes and sizes from all over the world. There even was supposed to be an Airbus A380 and an Antonov 225, both of which were bigger than the Delta 747!
Elsa was reading a book that she had brought on the flight with her. Kristoff was doing his best to get some sleep and Olaf was down in the cargo hold with Sven, keeping the reindeer calm as Quebec Echo flew.
"We're almost there! I just wanna get off this plane and explore everything there. Just think of all the people from all over the world and the aircraft too! Who knows what we might find!" Anna exclaimed in excitement.
"I am excited too Anna. But we must remember that we must be respectful when we are there." Elsa replied calmly.
Anna knew her sister was right and continued to excitedly stare out of the windows as Quebec Echo descended towards the runway.
The jet suddenly lurched downwards and slightly upwards again as Sam and Dan tried to compensate for the winds that were being generated near to Reykjavik. Anna squealed in fright, Kristoff just snored louder and Elsa kept on reading her book.
Not long later, there was a soft Bing sound coming from overhead and both Anna and Elsa noticed that it was the fasten seatbelt sign. This could only mean one thing. Quebec Echo was about to land!
Both sisters immediately fastened their seatbelts tightly but comfortably and Elsa opened her window blind. Outside the aircraft was an almost endless sea of dark fields covered with patches of snow. Those fields seemed to be getting closer and closer as Quebec Echo descended, until finally, the ground turned into a road like substance and the cabin shook for a moment as the 757 touched down. The air was then filled by the rumbling of the aircraft's thrust reversers as Quebec Echo slowed down to a stop and swung off the runway and onto the taxyway.
Outside the windows, everyone in the cabin could see hundreds of airliners of all shapes and sizes, stretched out as far as the eye could see. A lot of these aircraft were Boeing 757-200s, just like Quebec Echo.
"There are so many!" Anna gasped as the jet taxied to a parking space.
It was at this moment that Kristoff woke up,
"Are we there yet?" he asked groggily.
Anna and Elsa both nodded at him as all they could do at that moment was stare at the hundreds of aircraft that were parked around them.
Just before Quebec Echo stopped, two bright red horseless vehicles drove up on either side of the aircraft and started spraying water in an arch over the jet. Sam had explained that this was a traditional way of welcoming an aircraft or saying farewell.
Once the aircraft was stopped, Sam and Dan shut down the 757's two powerful Rolls Royce engines and boarding steps were attached. Everyone got out of their seats and met with Sam and Dan at the entry door.
"Ready?" Sam asked his family, the excitement was obvious in his tone of voice.
"Ready" Anna, Elsa and Kristoff agreed.
At that, Sam opened the door and the crisp, cool air of Reykjavik airport flooded into the cabin. The sound of people cheering loudly and cameras going off filled the air as Sam, Dan, Anna, Elsa and Kristoff exited Quebec Echo. Olaf and Sven were being unloaded from the main cargo hold, along with the supplies that had been on-board Quebec Echo.
Before them, an absolutely enormous crowd of people from all walks of life, were gathered. Everyone was cheering loudly at them, some took pictures of everyone as they disembarked.
Anna, Elsa and Kristoff started to feel like they were underdressed for this.
A young girl ran up towards Anna and Elsa, before its parents could stop it, and offered a flower to each of the sisters.
"You two look like Anna and Elsa" the girl spoke.
Both sisters crouched down to the girl's height and smiled.
"That's because we are" Anna replied, in a kind tone of voice.
The girl's eyes widened at this and tried to hug the sisters tight, Anna and Elsa returned the gesture. It was only then that the two royal sisters could only begin to comprehend what the people at Reykjavik Airport must have gone through. Sam and Dan merely watched with a smile.
The group met with all of the people who had gathered to watch Quebec Echo as it arrived in Reykjavik, until an Icelandic man in a sharp suit walked up to them. Captain Oaksworth was with him.
"This is Jackob Admunsen. He's the boss of the airport" Oaksworth said as he introduced Jackob.
"Queen Elsa of Arendelle, this is my sister Princess Anna, her husband Ice Master Kristoff and our Brother Prince Samuel" Elsa said to Jackob.
"A pleasure" Jackob replied as he shook each of the royal family's hands in turn.
Jackob then led the royal family and their entourage away from the crowded tarmac and into the relatively warm airport terminal.
