Unknown Skies part 27
The Arendelle Delegation did indeed spend the night at Reykjavik Airport, sleeping in Quebec Echo proving to be easier than expected. Since the security contingent had turned the cargo holds into a makeshift bunkhouse. Sam and Dan had taken up two of the now spare business class seats and in the morning, with everyone fully refreshed after the excitement of the day before, including finding a Concorde in an abandoned hangar. After Breakfast, and another walk around the airport, the delegation got back on-board the 757 and quickly took flight back to Arendelle. This time, the flight would take longer than the flight out, since there was a slight headwind.
As Quebec Echo cruised swiftly over the north sea, everyone in the passenger cabin took the time to gaze out of the windows as the Boeing flew on above the clouds. The weather was not as good as it had been on the flight out, but no-one seemed worried. Anna's attention was now completely focused on Quebec Echo's In Flight Entertainment System, which Sam had recently shown the Arendellians how to use.
Elsa was however looking out of the window at the dark and foreboding storm clouds. Ever since her parents King Adgar and Queen Idunn had died in a storm out at sea, Elsa had never been able to look at a storm in a positive light.
Everything seemed normal, until Elsa's eyes caught a flash of movement in the cloud layer below the Boeing 757. Although it was only a very brief glimpse of movement, Elsa felt a sudden foreboding sense of dread rush through her.
Getting up from her seat, Elsa made her way to the cockpit and entered. Sam and Dan were having a random conversation about what flavour of Crisps were best but stopped their conversation when they noticed Elsa enter the cockpit.
"What brings you up here?" Sam asked his sister.
"Is there anything close to us on the outside of the aircraft? I thought I saw something below us earlier" Elsa replied.
Sam quickly checked the Radar screen and turned back to Elsa.
"Sorry Sis. There doesn't seem to be anything on the radar. It could just have been a gust of wind messing with a cloud" he said to her.
Elsa's eyes narrowed in confusion at this. She was sure that she saw something.
However, the moment of quiet that came with Elsa's thoughts was shattered when something darted past the aircraft at tremendous speed! This time, Sam and Dan noticed this too.
"What the?!" Dan exclaimed as he leaned forwards in his seat to try and see what had darted past the aircraft.
Sam looked at the radar screen again, and it still showed nothing.
"That's strange" he said quietly to himself.
As he said this, something else darted past the aircraft at high speed before slowing down to keep pace beside them!
"What the hell?!" Dan exclaimed.
The unknown aircraft, or whatever it was, was small, painted all black and looked like it was built for speed. Its form also seemed to be flowing and changing at random.
Warily, Sam activated his radio and spoke into it.
"Unknown aircraft, this is Quebec Echo, a Winter Airways Boeing 757 on a VIP transport flight. Please identify yourself. I repeat, Unknown aircraft, identify yourself!"
There was no response from the unknown aircraft.
However, before anyone could say or do anything. The craft zoomed off!
Sam, Dan and Elsa all stared at where the aircraft had been. None of them spoke for the longest moment. Only the sound of the engines through the fuselage could be heard. That was until Elsa said in a shaky tone of voice,
"What was that?"
No-one knew the answer and that troubled everyone in the cockpit.
Little did any of them know, that mysterious aircraft was just a prelude to what was coming their way.
