In regards to the last review I got, asking when I'd update this, no need to worry anymore, because here's a new one-shot fresh from the press! Plus, anything to get the bad taste of watching the new sitcom out of my mouth would be nice. But that's neither here nor there, it's time for a new Timxie one-shot! Thanks to The Keeper of Worlds for this worm of an idea! Anyway, enjoy!

Popularity Perks

The now ten-year-old Timmy Turner couldn't believe what he was about to do as he looked up at the large mansion in front of him. It seemed like he had just finished hyperventilating from just approaching the mansion alone before pulling himself together. While he had been inside this place before, it was the first time that he had been cordially invited to this house... by the very girl who happened to be living there. He still couldn't believe this was happening right now as he clutched the note he had held in his hands.

It all began this morning at school, after just arriving at his locker as the boy was getting his books for the day ahead. He probably wouldn't have noticed the letter had his pink haired fairy (disguised as a sticker decorated on a notebook) hadn't pointed it out. The minute Timmy picked up the letter, he looked surprised as he noted the fancy envelope and the sticker, something he recognized in a Trixie Tang invite. Cosmo and Wanda could hardly believe their eyes when Timmy showed it to them, before he opened the letter and read the contents, requesting him to come over to the mansion this evening. And so there he was... in front of the mansion... and not too far away, two bunnies approached him, green and pink respectfully.

"Well, sport, looks like you're here." Wanda said. "What do you think Trixie wants?"

"I have no idea. I didn't think she'd actually willingly invite me to her place... which is sweet in and of itself, but..." Timmy smiled, before pausing. "Maybe it's me, but it just feels a bit strange that Trixie would just invite me out of the blue... and in private, at that."

"Yeah! Usually, there's a popularity catch when it comes to Trixie Tang invites!" Cosmo said as he frowned. "So far, though, I don't hear any signs of a party going on..." He slumped down. "Does this mean no fancy shrimp? I love the fancy shrimp!"

Wanda rolled her eyes as she used her wand to poof up a bowl of shrimp for Cosmo, the green fairy gasping as he dove into the bowl. "Yay! Shrimp!"

"Need any assistance, sport, just in case?" Wanda asked.

"Thanks guys, but... I think it's best if I play it by ear. Who knows? Maybe this is my big moment!" Timmy said as he nodded towards the two rabbits. "Wish me luck."

The two fairies gave their thumbs-up (Cosmo poking his head out of the floating bowl and munching on shrimp doing so) as Timmy started to head straight for the mansion and stood in front of the door. After ringing the doorbell, one of the maids answered as she looked down at him.

"Hi, I'm Timmy Turner, and..." Timmy started, before the maid smiled.

"Ah yes, we were told to expect you. Trixie's just right inside if you care to follow." The maid smiled as she lead the boy inside.

Timmy kept walking for a bit until he noticed the love of his life settling down on the couch, her purple shirt and white skirt in tact as she had her boots off, and her headband off as she was brushing her hair. This was Trixie Tang, the rich and popular girl of Timmy's school, and she seemed to have this haughty nature to her. However, the minute her eyes landed on Timmy, the haughty nature on her face disappeared as a smile started to emerge.

"Timmy, welcome!" Trixie smiled as she tapped on the empty spot next to her. "I was actually thinking you wouldn't show up."

Timmy looked surprised as he approached. "So you really did send out that invitation... and you actually remembered my name for once."

"Of course, Timmy, why wouldn't I?" Trixie asked as she raised an eyebrow.

"Well, normally, whenever we talk, it's either all 'hello, empty bus seat' or 'Tommy' when you're in one of your sweet moods." Timmy pointed out.

Trixie winced a bit. "I guess when you put it like that, it does sound a bit mean, but you have to understand, the chart is what it is." Trixie explained. "You know what the chart is, right?"

"Yeah, yeah, I've seen it... but cutting to the chase, why did you invite me, knowing that I'm not on your popular list?" Timmy asked.

"Believe it or not..." Trixie smiled. "I was just watching this last week and thought one of the people in this video looked similar to you..."

As Trixie was talking, she pulled out a remote control and pushed the TV on as a video started playing. Timmy recognized the video right away as the same music video of the concert that he had brought Chip Skylark to after the whole adventure with how he thought his birthday had taken place at the same time people were obsessed with Chip Skylark and how he almost married him off to Vicky. Still, at least getting to know Chip Skylark and being in the concert was worth it for him... especially after learning that his birthday was the NEXT day, not that day. Of course, Timmy blamed Cosmo for that mishap (since it turns out Cosmo circled the wrong date on the calendar).

"Recognize this?" Trixie smiled as she noted Timmy's expression.

"Yeah, this is the Chip Skylark concert people were excited about last week, Icky Vicky was the new song being promoted..." Timmy started to say. "But why would you want to show me this?"

"Well..." Trixie smiled as she pointed to the familiar looking boy dancing alongside Chip Skylark. "When I saw this boy dancing with Chip Skylark, I instantly made a connection and knew it was you. A boy that knows a big celebrity like Chip Skylark... heck, I think they deserve to go up a bit in the chart."

Now that was certainly an interesting fact Timmy Turner did not expect to hear. "Wait, so..."

Trixie giggled. "Congratulations, Timmy Turner. Your little fifteen minutes of fame next to a big celebrity is enough for me to consider you popular..."

Timmy couldn't believe his ears as Trixie looked at the boy with a small smile on her lips and an honest shine in her eyes. His heart started beating fast as he returned that smile with one of his own. "Wow, Trixie. I've been trying so hard to win you over, and if all I had to do was know Chip Skylark..." He chuckled nervously. "I should have told you a lot sooner."

"Yeah, I'm curious, how do you know Chip Skylark?" Trixie smiled happily. "He's always been one of my favorite musicians..."

"Really?" Timmy looked up as he gave a chuckle. "Well... uh, truth be told, I've known him for a bit before the concert. You could say that I had to help him get out of a bad loveless life with a girl who wanted him for his money."

It was a bit of a half-truth as Timmy didn't want to go over the details on what had actually happened as Trixie giggled, "Wow. Timmy Turner, your life is... more than average."

Timmy bit his lip nervously as he shifted his eyes awkwardly. "I guess you can say that..."

The purple wearing girl noticed Timmy's nervous looks as she put his hand to hers. "Hey, don't be nervous. I promise, there's no catch. This is entirely real. And... truth be told, I've always had my eye on you."

"Really?" Timmy asked.

Trixie smiled. "Ever since you admitted the truth to your fake popularity and stuck to your friends, it was something that resonated with me. I've always wanted to find some excuse to get you to come over, but... the fact that my other popular friends were around and that they prefer the trendiest ideas over anything else prevented me from doing so. The minute I saw you in that concert, I knew I had to take my chance."

Timmy looked over to the girl he loved as he gave a smile. "So when you saw me at the concert, you took advantage of the fact that I had a few minutes of fame to get me in to your house?"

"Underhanded, I know, but it had to be done." Trixie sighed, before smiling. "Besides, there is something I'd like to confess to you and only you. Understand that this cannot leave the mansion, understand?"

Now the boy in the pink hat looked rather curious as he gave a nod. Trixie smiled as she got up and motioned the boy to follow her. Timmy obliged, still looking rather curious about what Trixie was hiding...

Timmy's mouth dropped opened as he saw Trixie open a secret vault in her room and pulled out an assortment of comic books, from the Crimson Chin to VHSes and DVDs of Crash Nebula. "No way..."

Trixie blushed in embarrassment. "I know, I know, the popular girl having a thing for geeky trends, it's embarrassing, but I don't care. It's my personal collection and I'm not getting rid of it. Nobody knows, not even my friends." She then narrowed her eyes at Timmy. "I want your word that you don't tell anybody about this either."

Timmy looked at the ferocity behind the girl's eyes, as he gave a nervous chuckle. "Hey, Trixie, listen, there's nothing wrong with liking geeky stuff. I'm sure in a few years time, this geeky stuff could be trendy."

"You think so?" Trixie said, calming down slightly.

"Who knows? But if you really want to keep this secret, then it's safe with me..." Timmy said as he looked around and gasped as he pulled out one of the VHSes. "Hey, is that the Crash Nebula pilot episode? I didn't think they'd release this in public!"

"They didn't. It's a bit of a... well, pirated copy." Trixie bit her lip. "Let's just say I knew a few underground people that had to get their hands on it."

"Well, now I need to see this! Play it, play it!" Timmy begged. "Pwease?"

Trixie giggled. "You know, I think that would be a good start to this get-together... so sure. I guess we can watch this."

"Sweet!" Timmy smiled as Trixie set up the VCR and television in her room to play as she joined Timmy in sitting down. And as they watched this unreleased pilot episode, they were enjoying each other's company, holding hands and laughing along some of the jokes and cheering for the cheesiness of the show as it played through. As soon as the twenty minutes of the pilot were done, Timmy and Trixie shared a laugh.

"Oh man, that was so awesome and cheesy!" Timmy smiled.

"I know, right!" Trixie said in excitement. "I mean, the costume was a bit ridiculous for Crash Nebula, but hey, at least they had time to refine it in the later editions of the show!"

"Can't argue with that..." Timmy smiled, before pausing. "Hey, Trixie?"

"Yeah?" Trixie raised an eyebrow.

"...I don't know if I want this to end." Timmy sighed. "Because the minute I step out of the mansion, it'll be like we never had this bonding moment..."

Trixie sighed sadly. "Yeah, and you know what they say... fame never lasts forever. Eventually, a trend will come and go..."

Timmy looked down sadly as Trixie growled. "I can't believe that's a rule, and I hate it. Sometimes, I sort of hate being popular."

Timmy looked surprised to hear the love of his life say that as the girl looked down. "But I guess that's to be expected..."

"Awww, don't say that." Timmy said as he squeezed her hand. "In my opinion, you're good at being popular! Me? My fifteen minutes of fame is from a concert nobody will probably remember a few years from now. At least you know how to pull off being popular."

"Yeah, but eventually, there may come a time when... well, I'll want out." Trixie explained. "Don't get me wrong, popularity is amazing, but I would like to be seen more than just a pretty face..."

Timmy looked surprised by those comments, before giving a sweet smile. "You've more than proven that to me. I mean, a girly girl who desires comics? You just gave me more reason to like you."

Trixie turned to Timmy as she heard this comment, before smiling towards the short young man. "Timmy Turner, has anyone ever told you that you're sweet?"

Before Timmy could respond, Trixie leaned over and laid a kiss to his cheek. The boy's eyes widened in surprise, before a smile bloomed on his face.

Trixie giggled as she smiled. "I have a secret game room in this mansion too... if you're interested."

Timmy gave a dazed nod as he followed Trixie out of her room. Somehow, he had a feeling that he and Trixie were going to meet up with each other more... and Trixie? She was already making plans to invite Timmy in secret as she gave a hidden smile to herself.
