For as long as he had been the head of the Bounty Hunter of the Ursus branch, Chris had never heard such an arrogant request.
He thought that he was hearing things with how ridiculous it was. Just to make sure he was not going crazy, he pulled down his hood, showing a mature blonde Vulpo man, and asked the crazed man in front of him.
"... I am sorry but I might have misheard you just now," He glanced at the Ursa, "What did you ask me to do again?"
"Mr. Chris, as the person who's in charge of this branch of bounty hunters, I thought that you would have a better hearing than that." BronzeHammer said lightly, "Don't make me feel like I am talking to a mentally retarded person. I have never been a soft-hearted person to those who are mentally handicapped."
"..."
"Haha. Don't look at me like that. I'm just kidding."
While he was chuckling, BronzeHammer took out two more golden bars from his pocket. He just threw them to the table, stacking them on top of the previous two.
"Am I paying too little?" BronzeHammer said, "I issued a commission to let your best bounty hunters come and kill me. It's such a simple thing. I shouldn't need to repeat myself."
Chris' expression was still in shock at what he just heard. He slowly calmed down and glanced in between the four bars of gold and the mad man in front of him. He said coldly, "BronzeHammer, are you not taking the bounty hunters seriously?"
"Why do you say that? I am taking this very seriously," BronzeHammer shrugged and said, "There are four gold bars here. Doesn't this show how sincere I am being to this person?"
Chris was quiet. After a while he asked BronzwHammer a question, "Mr. Bronze, do you think of yourself as an ordinary person?"
"It depends on what you think," BronzeHammer grinned, "What would classify someone as not ordinary?"
"... Then can I understand," Chris said coldly, "Mr. Bronze, I want to ask you something. Have you fought a lot of bounty hunters?"
"Oh," A smirk appeared on his face, "May I ask, why are you asking me this? But I will entertain you. I killed about four of them when I first came here."
"... Mr. Bronze," Chris said, "Are you declaring war on us? Are you representing the emperor and declaring war on us?"
"Don't be like that," BronzeHammer waved his hand at this. He showed an innocent expression at the chief, "I didn't want to kill them either at that time. I just want to test how strong the legendary bounty hunters really are. Sadly, when facing them, I was under a lot of pressure. So I accidentally beat them to death. Mr. Chris, you can't blame me for that, can you?"
Chris took a deep breath and resisted the urge of attacking this imbecile.
As he said before, BronzeHammer had killed four bounty hunters when he took charge of the small town of Sokk. As a result, his bounty mission cannot be dispatched properly. Now the same man that caused him so much trouble came back to him and had the audacity to commission a bounty on his head.
I hope you die.
Chris wanted to throw this sentence to BronzeHammer's face, but he didn't dare to.
This man's character and strength were so irritable. If he was not even half as strong as he was, Chris would not be bothered to come here and entertain him.
However, he knew better. This man was stronger than most. If he did not cooperate with him, his head would be chopped off and he would find some other bastard to annoy.
He was lucky that this man was decent enough to in this time I said that I was inviting him to meet and not treating him to kill him on the spot. If he didn't make a promise to help him when he first met him, he probably won't be able to leave here alive.
This made Chris feel aggrieved because there was no one around him to use. He did not have any bounty hunter that he could use against this man
The more stable a country was, the scarcer the numbers of bounty hunters will be and the weaker they would be.
Although how Ursus' tough policy on Infected made the country look a bit chaotic, under the supreme emperor and the high pressure of his army, overall this country was considered a stable country. Therefore, in this branch he was in charge of, the bounty hunters were less and generally not strong.
The strongest branch of bounty hunters was at the coastal branch.
With how most of them would go out of their way to kill beings that could not be considered human, he was not surprised. Their terrifying power has added a lot of rumors that "bounty hunters are monsters" in this world.
If even one person from there came here and fought this man, they would not even take a minute to chop off BronzeHammer's head.
It was a pity that this was not the coastal branch.
It was really difficult to defeat BronzeHammer without him getting help from someone above average strength. He used to be one of the emperor's personal guards after all.
Chris knew some information about them.
The so-called personal guards of the emperor were picked at an early age, most of them orphans. They were thought at a young age to be the best soldiers to serve under the emperor when they would become adults. They were born to serve him for the rest of their life. Other than the emperor, they would not care about them.
"If that is what you truly want, then so be it," Chris said slowly, "I will post a bounty on you. Of course, I would not say that this person will accept or not.".
"Why do you say that?"
Chris glanced at the gold bars on the table, "Because I do not know if they would be interested in doing this."
"Oh?" BronzeHammer raised his eyebrows.
"But don't worry." Chris slowly got up and glanced at him, "Since you really want to meet this person, I am willing to help you realize it. After I go back, I will use my own assets to issue this commission."
"Thank you then," Bronzehammer's smile widened, "You are really hard working."
"No need." Chris stood up and was about to leave the room. He really did not want to stay in the same room as this person. However, something stopped him just as he was about to open the door.
BronzeHammer happened to call him again, "Mr. Chris, please stay for a bit."
Chris slowly turned back and saw that BronzeHammer was standing just a few feet away from him.
"Is there anything else you want?"
"I feel a little tight in my chest. I have a problem if you want to know." BronzeHammer slowly walked up to him, closing the distance between them, "Every time, I feel like this, I have the urge to kill someone."
Chris' eyelids jumped wide open at this.
"Don't worry, Mr. Chris, I don't have to kill you." He said with a smile on his face, "I think I know a way to help my… condition."
"... What do you want?" Chris tried to be calm.
"It's very simple," BronzeHammer said lightly, "Your fingers. That should be enough."
Five minutes later, the pale Chris walked out of the bar from the back door. As he walked, a trail of blood followed him.
In the sunshine outside the bar, Chris felt like he had lived again once or twice. However, thinking of the humiliation he had just suffered, he clenched his teeth tightly, took out his mobile phone with his left hand, and then dialed a number, trembling.
"Hello, Charles? This is Chris." Chris took a deep breath, "Can you help me get in touch with the "Sword of the Tide"? If you can, tell them that I am hiring them. I am willing to pay about… two hundred thousand Lungmen Dollars. I need someone to be killed."
Ten minutes later, on the street five kilometers from Sokk town, a mobile phone vibrated on a broken tractor.
"Hmm?" Skadi took out her phone, opened it, glanced at it, and closed it again.
Lin Ye looked at Skadi and was a little curious, "What's wrong? Was that Kal'tsit?"
"It was nothing." Skadi shook her head and said faintly, glancing at Lin Ye, "Someone asked me if I wanted to make some extra money."
Lin Ye just raised his brow at her and hummed to her answer.
