After seeing who his new interns were, Lin Ye's plan to skip work went to ashes. If he did not look at his calendar he thought it was April fool and someone was pranking him now.
He knew someone was laughing their ass off as they enjoyed his misfortune.
He really wanted to kill them.
Why are they here?!
Those names. Because of those names, he did not have the best of sleep. He had to wake himself to sleep and woke up as soon as the sun was peeking at the horizon. He only had three or four hours of sleep.
Ansel was surprised at how early he woke up, Lin ye did not have the best sleep schedule. Lin Ye, however, did not have time to explain why he was acting like this as he left the room immediately after he finished cleaning himself up.
About last night, Ansel was a bit cross at him squirting his drink all over the floor. Lin Ye apologized about that but how could you blame him after he saw who was on his list.
So after he had a quick lunch - a sandwich - he made a beeline to his office.
The first thing that he was greeted with when he arrived was the sight of Skadi sitting on the sofa. She was quite surprised at how early Lin Ye was.
Was he really bad at waking up? With how everyone was acting at how early he woke up, he guessed it was a yes.
Need to fix my sleep sooner or later.
"Lin Ye? What is going on?" Skadi asked Lin Ye, "Your face doesn't seem very good."
"Really?"
Skadi nodded.
"Well about that…'' Lin Ye said with a wry smile, "Today there will be a special guest coming over to meet me so I was in a hurry."
"A special guest?" Skadi couldn't think of any kind of guest that would make Lin Ye react like this, "Who?"
Link Ye did not know if he should tell who they were to her. Their identity should be kept a secret. Otherwise, chaos would fall on the Island. People would be freaking out.
Lin Ye knew that person in question did care about being known but he did!
They were even more important than some emperors in the world right now so he needed to be cautious with how many people knew about who they were.
The situation that he was in was like the plot of dramas that he would watch with his mother. An important figure acting and blending in a normal people's life. Only one person knew who they were and the two characters would bond over it.
And from what was going on here, Lin Ye was one of the main characters of this plot.
He really did booty like his role.
Please pick another actor!
Lin Ye screamed that thought in his head for no one to hear. He was not getting paid enough to deal with all of this! He was barely holding on at the moment. Find another person to deal with this, damn it.
He was getting off track now.
Lin Ye shook his head, and put aside those strange thoughts in his mind now. He pulled Maple out of its sheath and held it in front of him with one of his hands. He might be imagining it but ever since he woke up, Maple was acting quite strange. It felt lighter than normal and sometimes it would vibrate out of nowhere. It even felt a bit warm now that he realised it.
Skadi stared at Maple that Lin Ye held in his hand. She frowned slightly at this and was about to say something to him but the sound of the office's door opening cut her short.
Lin Ye's heart was tense hearing this, and he turned his head slowly to see who it was. However, when his eyes landed on the cupric that almost gave him a heart attack, he calmed down.
It was just Ptilopsis.
"I almost had a miniature heart attack just now," He sighed in relief. He raised a lone brow at the person that almost killed him just now, "And you, why are you suddenly interested in going to work now? Are you sick? Do you need a doctor?"
The medic tilted her head confusing this question, "I do not understand what you are asking, Dr. Lin. I always come here on time while you sleep through the day. I should be asking you that, Dr. Lin. Your attendance rate is much lower than mine. Even though you are the head of this department you still should neglect your work, Dr. Lin"
"I hate when you are right," He grumbled under his breath. He sighed and showed her a smile, Sorry about that. I am always busy now and sleep is not getting better."
"You are suffering from a lack of sleep, Dr. Lin?" Ptilopsis, even with her usual monotone tone, sounded a bit worried in his ears, "I can suggest some ideas on how to help you, Dr Lin."
She made her way to his side as he told Lin Ye all of this. Lin Ye smiled at this.
"I think I will take up your offer then," He landed his hand on her head and started to pat her, "Thanks."
Her face was still as blank as always but Lin ye could see some of the feathers on her head were swaying. Looked like she was enjoying it.
"Think nothing of it," She said, "That's what I am assigned to do after all. I am your assistant, Dr. Lin"
"True," He chuckled, " What a lucky doctor I am."
As the two were off to their own world, Skadi glanced at them on the sideline.
She did not like being left out.
"Dr. Lin." Ptilopsis called him.
"Hmm?" He hummed.
"You looked like you expected someone just now." She asked.
"Well," He chuckled nervously at her question, "About that-."
"Were those people us?"
Lin Ye's gaze snapped towards the familiar voice in front of him.
Blacklist starters at gold and blue.
His mouth was agape at the sight of the person. Then his face slowly softened to a small smile.
"It's really you, huh," He sighed. He showed a small smile to his guest, "Hey there Messiah."
Messiah smiled brightly at him in return.
"Did I surprise you? Well, I have more coming!" The god giggled at him, "Come on greet him."
Messiah then moved to the side of the door and pulled someone into the room with her.
Irene looked delighted when she saw him and Praminx looked like the world was coming to its end.
"Dr…Lin," Irene stammered to greet Lin Ye, "Long time… no see… How are… you?"
"Irene?!" Lin Ye made his way to her and hugged her tightly. Irene gladly copied him, nuzzling into his warm body. After a while of them hugging, he pushed each other apart and looked at her in shock.
"Irene!" He beamed at her, "You can talk now. How? Did you meet Liz or Shining?"
Lin Ye remembered that Messiah told him that only Sarkaz healing Arts could help her so he guessed that she might have stopped at the medical department to get some help.
Irene smiled at him, enjoying how happy he looked seeing her.
"N… No," She stammered a reply, "Miss Messiah… She… Help me."
Lin Ye was even more surprised.
He looked at Messiah in shock as the god smiled at his reaction.
"Didn't you say you can't heal her"
Messiah innocently acted ignorant of what he asked.
"I don't remember saying that." The Messiah said.
"Really?" He did not sound convinced.
"I kid," Messiah giggled, "Compared to what Srakaz could do, what I did for little Irene was nothing much. I only could help her because most of my power was available so I could slowly heal her when she was by my side. It's still a bit too slow for my liking though."
"I… am satisfied… I survived. "
"See what a good child she is," Messiah gave Irene a head pat as she said this, "I just hope I could help her more."
Lin Ye smiled at her, "You are doing your best, that's what matters."
Messiah's eyes widened hearing but she slowly showed him a grateful smile.
"Thank you."
Then she turned her gaze to the people in the room. Her eyes landed on Skadi who was leaning on the wall next to the window. She did not speak throughout all of this.
Messiah gently sighed at this.
"Lin Ye, it seems that you didn't listen to me."
"Excuse me?" Lin Ye raised his brow at her.
"Did you forget my warning," Messiah stared at him, "To stay away from the deep sea."
