Lin Ye did not expect that Messiah would suddenly say such a thing. He was stunned but he quickly recovered and asked her, " How do you know she's from the sea, Messiah?"
Skadi arched her brow, interested in this also.
The god turned her head and glanced at him, "She has the presence of someone from there."
".. You don't say?" Lin Ye hummed.
With her being a god, the idea of her being able to sense people's beings was not far from reality.
He then showed her a reassuring smile to her, "You misunderstood, Skadi is not like those monsters in the deep sea. She's just an ordinary person. I trust her."
Skadi glanced at him not saying a word but Lin Ye noticed that her expression softened when she heard him.
"You know her that well?" Messiah asked back. Just when he was about to answer, Messiah, the god of Kjerag showed him a complicated expression, and suddenly asked him again "Is she your girlfriend?"
Ptilopsis was about to nod, but Lin Ye grabbed her by the head with one of his hands, stopping her from moving. Lin Ye stared at her from the corner of his eyes, warning her while answering Messiah's question.
"No."
She wisely stayed quiet.
"It doesn't seem to be the case," Messiah nodded, then smiled and stretched out her hand to Skadi, "Sorry, what I said just now. I hope you don't mind."
Skadi didn't seem to be not looking at Messiah's outstretched hand. She was more focused on staring straight into the god's eyes.
"Who are you?" Skadi asked.
Seeing that Skadi was not interested in shaking her hand, Messiah pulled her hand back with a smile, and then said, "Lin Ye said that you are an ordinary person, right? So I am an ordinary person also. Just treat me like an ordinary person passing by."
Suddenly out of nowhere, Skadi's body felt like it was about to spring into action. Air stopped coming into her and her heart rate rocketed.
She's dangerous.
The thought echoed in her mind as she stared at the person in front of her.
She has never felt this kind of pressure emitting from someone before. Lin Ye did look like he was affected by her pressure so that meant all of this was focused on her.
She was… relieved.
Back to the mysterious person, in Skadi's opinion, an existence that could freely control their pressure like this was more troublesome than any monster in the deep sea that only uses brute force. Under the intense pressure from this person alone, Skadi instinctively wanted to draw her sword, but she managed to endure it, forcing her body to not move. She wanted to see what the other party wanted to do.
And…
"I trust her."
Lin Ye's words echoed in her mind.
She needed to hold on.
Luckily for her, Messiah was not interested in making their staring contest longer than necessary and made the intense pressure disappear.
Soon Skadi could breathe normally again but she still did not lower her guard. After all, a qualified hunter like her would not be defenceless in front of a dangerous enemy, even if the opponent seemed docile on the surface.
As for the secret confrontation between Messiah and Skadi, Lin Ye, who was raising his brow at both of them, still had a lot of questions he wanted to ask the Messiah, However, from the corner of his eyes, he saw Enya trying to get his attention. He turned his gaze towards her and saw her pointing at her phone.
So Lin Ye glanced at his cell phone and found that Enya sent a message to him just now.
He opened it and saw a single sentence in it.
[Hurry up and persuade her to go back to Karlan!]
The corners of Lin Ye's mouth twitched slightly, and he could fully expect her to be as desperate as she was now. He must be her last hope of dragging the god back to her home.
Quite a heavy burden was given by the saintess to him. With how troubled she looked, she was practically begging him to help her.
Lin Ye hummed and sent a message to her.
[What should I do?]
Lin Ye did not have to wait any longer for Enya to send a reply.
[Just try to persuade her! Do anything!]
He sent a quick message.
[Sure. I need to be alone with her.]
Lin Ye and Enya both brainstormed on ways to get this to happen.
"Dr. Lin," Then he heard Prilopsis calling him.
"Yes?" He glanced at her.
"With my mission of bringing these people to you, I would like to go back to the medical department now."
"Now?" Lin Ye asked.
"Yes," She nodded, "Or do you need me to stay, Dr. Lin?"
He heard that the medical department was quite busy at the moment so she must be in a hurry to go back to work.
"Don't make me hold you any longer then," Linn ye gave her a quick head pat and ushered her to leave, "People need you so go."
She nodded at him and left her office.
One down. Now for Irene.
An idea suddenly came up in his mind.
"You haven't seen Lappland yet, right?"He glanced at Irene, "She should be at the training ground now, sleeping I presume."
Hearing Lappland's name being mentioned, Irene's face brightened but then she looked conflicted. Looked like she wanted to stay here with him but she still wanted to see Lappalnd again. She was in a tight spot now. She just needed the final push. Enya was more than glad to give her that.
"Then I'll take her there." Enya volunteered to guide her. As she pushed Irene out of the office she gave Lin Ye a final wink to cheer him on.
Two down. Now for…
Lin Ye glanced at Skadi but Skadi seemed to understand what he was about to say to her even before he could speak. She walked past Messiah and stopped beside him.
"I'm right next door, call me again if you need me," Skadi dropped these words, but when she was about to leave the room, she turned her head again and gave Messiah a deep look.
"Don't worry, little girl." Messiah said with a smile, "I would never hurt him."
Only then did Skadi look away and go out.
This made Lin Ye, who was watching, even more confused, "What was that all about?"
Messiah smiled at him, "She was threatening me. To not do anything to you."
"Threatening you?" Lin Ye ushered Messiah to sit down on the sofa as he went to make some tea for the both of them, "Why?"
Messiah glanced at Lin Ye, "Aren't you happy being worried by her?"
"... I was just a bit confused." When Lin Ye was done making them tea, he placed the cups down on the table and sat in front of her, "And why were both of you having a tense staring content just now?"
"You noticed?" She smiled at him, "I was just testing her."
Lin Ye was puzzled, "Testing her?"
Messiah picked up the teacup in front of her and took a sip of it, "Beings that are from the Deep Sea are all very dangerous, not only because of their strength but also for their instinct. Most of the time they would act just according to the latter more than their mind. Making them so dangerous in the first place."
"I never knew that?"
"It's just because you don't understand them," Messiah said indifferently, "Under high-pressure and extreme environments, some deep-sea races will attack anything in their path, including their own kind. This is also the reason why I tested her just now, to see if she controlled her instinct."
"I never saw her acting like how you described." He hummed.
"The reason why you haven't seen her out of control until now is that 3her strength is enough to deal with the vast majority of threats on this continent."
Now he was even more confused, "Then how did you test her? I feel like you didn't do anything. You just kept on staring at her."
"I put pressure on her," Messiah said, "Her performance is much better than what I imagined. Even in that situation, it was really good to see her able to hold back and not draw her sword."
"You put pressure on her?" He raised a brow at her, "Why didn't I feel it?"
Messiah glanced at Lin Ye, then shrugged. A smile was still present on her face.
"Of course you wouldn't," She giggled at him, "I will never make you feel in danger around me."
