Although they haven't seen each other for not that long, the relationship between them, Lin Ye was having a hard time navigating his conversation with her now.

Could you blame him?

His relationship with the god always changed with every meeting that he had with her.

At first, he thought that she would act like a being that looked down on humans. Then when he got to know her better, she felt like an old friend that he hadn't seen for a long time.

And now? With what he knew, it was even more complicated.

Was Messiah one of the cats that he met in his past life?

Any normal person hearing this would think that he was not right in the head now.

However, with his past experience, he was sure this was true. With him meeting Yuki, the reincarnation of one of his cats, Snow, the chances of that being true were big.

With her being a God, maybe she had the time to collect her past memories and remembered who he was. That would explain the way she would treat him compared to others. However, this was all him speculating. He needed to ask the person in front of him to get the answer to all of his questions.

The problem? How was he going to do that?

"Hey Messiah, God of Karlan, might you be a cat that I tried to save in my past life?"

Asking this to anyone, especially to a god, was a death wish for him. He would be rude in front of a god - Messiah? - damn God!

If Messiah did not kill him, her follower, Enya would slam her holy bell onto his head, giving him a concussion.

With how most races in this world were multiple times stronger than him, he did not want to risk it.

So he cowardly tried to find another topic to talk about with her.

"So?" He hummed to her to get her attention, "Is it okay for you to be here?"

"Oh?" Messiah was intrigued by this, "Why do you say that?"

"You told me that you can't leave Karlan because you are protecting it from Catastrophe. I am a bit worried about the place now." Lin Ye recalled and said, "Didn't you tell me that before?"

"Really?" Messiah tilted her head slightly, "Have I said that?"

"Yes." He chuckled, "Yes, you did."

Messiah smiled at him, "You remember so clearly, it seems that you still care about my words."

Then her eyes glared at him.

"But you still ignore my words of not going close to the deep sea."

He nervously chuckled at how Messiah was glaring at him, "Well…"

She shook her head at this but a smile was still on her face.

"If you are worried about the safety of Karlan, don't," Messiah said with a smile, "First of all, Karlan itself is not a place that is prone to Catastrophe to begin with, so there is no problem for me leaving in a short time. Second... Don't you see any difference in me? Compared to last time we met."

Messiah got from her seat and spun around to let Lin Ye her whole body. Seeing her like this, Lin Ye felt a bit calm. She was just that beautiful to look at. Like she was a maiden that could easily steal anyone's hearts, dancing in a winter wonderland.

And all of her attention was on him.

However, Lin Ye did not feel nervous around her weirdly enough. Her presence calmed her.

Oi, me! Focus! Don't go and fall in love with a god now! She is waiting for an answer here!

So what was different about her now? The first thought that he had were her clothes but she was still wearing the same as when he met her, a simple white dress with some Karlan pattern on it, however, it was still enough to show how beautiful she was.

Ye! Focus!

Next were her figures. Her hair was still a light brown coloured and was still as long as he remembered. Her fingernails were the same too.

What is different about her now? Wait, I have her photo.

The photo of Messiah that he took when he first met her.

Finally, he noticed the difference. in his case, What was missing in this case.

"Your scarf," He muttered, "It's gone."

Messiah smiled even more, "You still remembered."

"Luckily enough I noticed it," Lin Ye said, "You told me that the scarf was given by someone very important to you."

As he said this, an image of a child hugging a cat came into his mind in the snow. The cat was warped around by a grey scarf. From the look of it, the scarf belongs to the boy. The boy bugged the cat, hoping he could warm the cat.

Then the scene changed to the boy standing in front of a small grave. Tears could be seen in the young child's eyes.

Then the boy turned his head at him.

"Why didn't you save her?"

"Yeah, it was given by a very important person to me," Messiah's voice snapped him out, "So before I came, I tied it to the maple tree on the mountain."

"It's tied to the maple tree?" Lin Ye was a little puzzled, "Why?"

"Because that is the most important thing that I own. Most of all power is stored in it." She explained to him, "So in a way, my power is still guarding that place, so don't worry."

"So that's it?" He smiled at her.

"That's right," Messiah happily nodded, "You can tell Enya later about this to reassure her."

Lin Ye nodded and chuckled, "You noticed, huh?"

"She was not doing a good job in hiding it. That child was trying her best to get me to go back since yesterday, but she couldn't say much, scared that she would be rude," Messiah said with a smile, "So? Do you have any more questions I need to answer?"

"Well there is one more," He hummed, "Why are you here to begin with?"

"Well, if you want to know, it is because of Irene," Messiah tilted her head, sighing softly. "You must understand, Irene is still a child, there is nothing in my place for her to do. With who she is as a person, I couldn't cage her there for so long. She asked if she were able to go around the world for a while. Being the kind God that I am, I agree and even came along to keep her safe."

Lin Ye, hearing all of this, nodded, "So that's it?"

"Do you believe me?" She asked.

"Of course I do." Lin Ye smiled, "Why shouldn't I?"

Messiah sighed at this, seemingly disappointed in him, "This is one of your problems, you trust people too easily."

Lin Ye's brow was raised at this, "So you lied to me?"

"I told you half of the truth. Irene was indeed one of the reasons, but not all of it," Messiah said, "I also stayed on that mountain for many years, and occasionally wanted to come out to see the world for my own eyes."

Lin Ye remembered the scene when he and Messiah met for the first time.

Lin Ye asked Messiah, "How long did you stay in the holy mountain?"

Messiah hummed, thinking hard, "Who knows? Decades, hundreds of years, or maybe thousands?"

Although her tone sounded quite plain, Lin Ye could still hear something in her voice.

Like she … hated the idea of her staying on that mountain for that long. It must be quite lonely for her to be up there.

Then the image of a boy laying in a hospital room alone flashed in his mind.

He… could understand that in a sense.

"Okay, I have an idea what's going on," Smiling at her, Lin Ye nodded at Messiah, "But with most of the power still at Karlan, how are you now? Are you-?"

"Weak?" She completed his question for him, "Is that what you were about to say?"

"About to say "safe" but I think you have an idea of what I am trying to say," He looked at her worryingly, "So? Is it safe for you to be here?"

Her eyes widened at how worried he was looking at her.

Even with her being a god, he was still worried for her.

"... That was dangerous." Messiah coughed into her hand to hide her slowly increasing blush.

"Hmm?" Lin Ye was confused by this.

"Nothing. Moving on," When she thought that her face was cool enough she continued albeit her cheeks were still slightly red, "With how much of my power is gone, compared to how I was before I am significantly weaker now."

"I think you shouldn't be that worried though," He said, "For gods, no matter how weak they are, they are still stronger than mortals could ever be."

"You shouldn't underestimate mortals. Especially how creative and strong they can be. I am certain that, in this world, some humans could easily end me," Messiah said, "If there is nothing that can threaten me in this state, this world should already be dead by now."

Lin Ye waited for Messiah to say that she was joking like how she would always do but nothing came.

"Why are you telling me all of this?" Lin Ye asked.

"Because you asked." She answered innocently.

"Shouldn't you be cautious with who you are telling this to?"

Messiah shook her head and said with a smile, "Will you hurt me then?"

"Of course not!" Lin Ye shouted at her.

"Then it was fine for me to tell you all of that."

Lin Ye was left speechless hearing this.

Were all girls that he met in this world able to confuse him so much with only a few words?

"Don't worry." Messiah reassured him, "Even if my power is weakened, there are very few threats to me in this land. Besides, don't you also have my power with you?"

"... I do?" Lin Ye didn't understand what she meant until Messiah lightly tapped on Maple's scabbard that was on his waist with her finger. Realization hit him, "You mean Maple?"

"Yes. This sword, Maple, also store some of my power in it," Messiah said with a smile, "So you understand what I mean?"

"You want me to give Maple back?" He nodded at her without hesitation and went to untie it from his waist, "Just wait a moment I can give it now."

However, before he could give the sword back to its original owner, Messiah's hand was placed on top of his, stopping him.

"... How can you be so smart in one second and clueless in the next?" Messiah shook her head at him, "

"Huh?"

"You're misunderstanding what I mean," Messiah sighed and said softly, "If you are worried about my safety, don't stay too far away from me."

His eyes widened at what he was hearing but ultimately he laughed. She also followed him, giggling with him.

Women in this world were way too strong for him to handle, mentally and physically.

If he could, he would gladly chat with Messiah for a while longer. However, like everything that happened to him in this world, nothing would follow his intention.

He needed to go and meet up with Warfarin. He did promise her, so he had no way of running. With that being said, he had to excuse himself from Messiah. He told her that she could go around the Island to see the place, he even asked Ptilopsis to be her guide. He could always ask Skadi to do that but… he thought that would be a horrible idea.

After walking for a bit, Lin Ye was now staring in front of Warfarin's lab door. He did not want to do this but a promise was a promise. He needed to deal with her now or else Warfarin would stalk him to the end of the world. And to be honest he was not in the mood to go through that.

So he calmed his nerves and knocked on the door. Not even a second passed as he heard footsteps rushing to him.

The door bursts open letting him see the woman in front of him. She then went and grabbed him by the collar. With how much she was shaking his head, he was afraid that his head would fall out.

"You bastard! Finally back, huh?! Where were you?!" Warfarin glared at him as she screamed at his face, "Do you know how important that sample is to me?! Do you know how important she is to the research and development of the L-Cell! I told you to bring her back, but you let her go!"

Lin Ye might have guessed that she would act a bit rash but not to this extent.

Well, that would be a lie. He did expect her to act like this but he thought that she could at least control herself.

"Your brainless idiot! I'm really... really angry! If it was me two hundred years ago, I'd have to squeeze you dry by now!"

As Lin Ye was nagged, he raised his hands in a surrendering manner to stop her or at least calm her down. He apologized repeatedly, "I was wrong! I was wrong! I was really wrong! Just let me go!"

"Oh? Really?" He pulled his head close to her face and glared at him, "I don't think your apology is sincere at all though."

"I am very sincere!" Lin Ye tried to reassure her, "I will do whatever you ask me to do and I will absolutely not complain! I swear!"

Of course, he was really sincere with his words just now. With what he experienced at Sokk, he promised himself that he would help Warfarin to develop the L-Cell and he was not going to back away from his words.

He was willing to be caged on this island if he had to.

"Really?" Warfarin looked at him suspiciously, "You won't complain when I ask you to do anything?"

"Of course." Lin Ye said confidently then he remembered who he was dealing with. He needed to be cautious, wouldn't want to die because of blood lost, "As long as it's related to research."

"Glad to hear that!" Warfarin finally let go of him and clapped her hands in joy, "Then you accompany me to go to Yen."

"No problem." Lin Ye nodded subconsciously, and after a few seconds, he felt something was wrong, "Wait. Yen?"
