Sorry guys, school has been hitting me hard and I've also been going through a serious battle with depression. I'll try to update as much as I can. Sorry.
I was hungry, but after being toyed by a goddess and thrown around in a net ,my appetite had suddenly left me. So, I sat quietly, picking at my plate while everyone else dined and chatted. Finally, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned to see Calypso staring at me curiously.
"You said you worked for my father?" she asked. I nodded. A few seconds she spoke again. "Why?" I sighed as I recalled my time in the Titan army.
"I was...confused, vulnerable, and a coward. The Titans saw that and knew they could take advantage of it. So, I was under the command of your father, the General, working as his lapdog and bloodhound. Honestly, it was pretty brutal, but your dad got what he deserved," I said, not caring if Calypso still cared for her dad or not. Atlas was a prick!
"Being trapped under the sky?" she asked.
"With no hope of escape," I confirmed. Calypso smiled and nodded before going back to her food. After a few more minutes, my appetite started to return, so I started slowly eating what was on my plate before Leo whistled in my direction, earning a glare from me.
"Where's your gun dude? Last I saw you you were full on cowboy, you had that rifle on your back," Leo said. My glare turned into a frown.
"I lost it to a sadistic fucker that I intend to get back at by running my sword through his gut!" I said through gritted teeth. Leo looked at me like I was a complex math problem, and he was trying to do all calculations in his head.
"I think...I may have something for you," he said standing up. I looked at Calypso before getting up and following him. He rummaged through his bags before he produced two weird looking contraptions.
"Okay, so my main invention isn't done yet. It still has some tweaks to bump ou, but these should prove useful, my main man," he said happily.
"What in the fuck are these?" I asked.
"Sleeve guns! Here hold out your arm," he said. I rolled up my jacket sleeve and held out my arm. Leo quickly wrapped the contraption around my forearm and then clicked the gun into place. "Okay, flick your wrist." I flicked my wrist and a small pistol flew out of my sleeve and locked into place in my hand.
"Each one only holds two shots, so use them wisely, man," Leo said, fastening the other one to my right arm. I nodded.
"Thanks, man. What's that other project you said you were working on?" I asked curiously. Maybe he's not all bad.
"I'm so glad you asked!"
...Oh, never mind I hate him again.
He pulled out a large schematic and unfolded it. I couldn't make any sense of whatever the fuck this was, but one part of it stood out — the central image.
"Are you making a gun?" I asked. Leo nodded happily as he tinkered with some random gears from his pockets.
"I just have to figure out the final details of it and it should be perfect!" Leo said grinning. I rolled my eyes and handed the schematic back when I heard a throat clear behind me. I turned to see Josephine looking at me from the doorway.
"With me. Now," she said before turning around and walking down the hall without even checking if I was following. Of course, I was because I wasn't gonna piss off this lady. She looked like she could kill me with a single punch! As I made my way next to her, she spoke again. "You want to go after Commodus?" I nodded which caused her to sigh. "You will not get the chance. Commodus has left the city to his second in command and has made his way to regroup with Nero." We then walked into what looked like a massive armory.
"So...what do we do?" I asked.
"Kill the man in charge, and the Blemmyae will fall. The man left in charge is a brutal and cruel warrior. How the Triumvirate were able to persuade him to join is a mystery, but he is vital in the Emperors' operations here. Should Commodus lose him, his grip on the city will weaken enough for the mortals to retake it with ease. Once that's accomplished, the remaining Gargareans will have no reason to remain under the thumb of the emperors," she explained to me.
"How do you know all this?" I asked as she rummaged through a large box full of weapons.
"We have some friends within the Emperors' armies. Not many, but enough to deliver the information we need," she said. I nodded.
"So...where is this guy?" I asked, hoping she knew that as well.
"Emmie has a plan. It's a pretty good one, but risky," she said.
"No plan is worth doing without risk," Emmie said loudly as she walked into the room. I looked at her and she gave me a smile before gesturing for me to sit down. We sat at a table, and she leaned back. "You will need to fool them by getting captured."
"You want me to get caught by those psychopaths?!" I said horrified.
She nodded calmly. "Should you be captured, they will bring you before their commander. There you can strike him down."
I nodded. "Good plan. Question: How the fuck am I supposed to escape? If I kill the commander, won't the many guards immediately cut me down?"
"Yes, that is the risk of the plan."
"The risk?! That isn't a risk, that's a forgone conclusion! I can't just kill a guy and not expect every single soldier in there to want my head!" I said angrily.
"You are right, which is why you will need to get him alone. Should you two be alone, no guards will interfere once he's dead," she said.
"And how do you propose I do that!? Ask him to see his bedroom?!" I asked. Emmie shook her head.
"That part of the plan I have not figured out," she said before standing up and walking over to help her wife. I sighed and put my head in my hands, and once again, wished I was back home with Hylla.
"She may have not figured it out, but I have," a familiar voice said in front of me. I lowered my hands to see Shade sitting across from me looking as calm as ever.
"What's your idea? Offer him money or something?" I asked already not liking the plan.
"No. The man you will be facing was once a feared and brutal king. Appeal to the power hungry side of him and that should be enough to get you alone with him. Be very wary though. This man...He is a truly violent and destructive force. You will need all of your wit and guile to make it through this," Shade explained.
I hate this plan...I hate this plan so much!
"Okay..." I finally said softly wringing my hands together. Suddenly, a number of weapons clattered on the table, startling the hell out of me! I looked at all the weapons and then up at the two women who put them there.
"Pick one. You'll need a weapon," Emmie said.
I scoured through the pile until finally my hands gripped the hilt of a smallish sword. I pulled it out of the pile, I was now holding a Celestial Bronze saber roughly three feet long.
"A fine weapon. The best of luck Samuel," Jo said.
I grabbed a scabbard and sheathed the sword to my side before taking a deep breath.
"Guess its time to kill a king!"
