"As it Was" Harry Styles
Chapter 21: Stab Back
It was afternoon and Amy was sweeping the floor at Sonic's uncle's shop. Her shift was almost done. Lunch hour had just finished and the area was quiet. All the customers left and she was alone taking care of the store.
Amy was deep in her thoughts. She couldn't stop thinking about her encounter with Knuckles It was short, but his words had made an impact to her. She wondered why she was so curious about Knuckles part of the story. She stopped sweeping and rested her arm on the top of the broom's stick while resting her side cheek on top of it.
While she stayed deep in thought, she failed to notice someone entering the store. The footsteps stopped and didn't move. Amy felt movement and thought it was a customer. Her eyes widened to see it was Bunnie staring at her.
"Bunnie…"
Bunnie smiled politely at Amy and tipped her hat as to greet her. Amy placed her loose quill behind her ear and calmed her composure. She walked over behind the counter. She placed broom on the side and took out her pen and paper from her apron with a stoic look.
"Can I take your order?"
Bunnie kept her glance on her, but never sat down on the seats. She walked towards her and pulled out a folded paper. Amy was reluctant to grab it at first, but Bunnie's smile widened, as a way to reassure her that she came in peace.
Without a word Bunnie tipped her hat again. She left as if she had never entered the store. Amy took a moment to breathe for she had been holding her breath. She took a step back and opened the letter.
It's been a while since I've seen you. I hope you are doing well, Amy. I don't mean to startle you if I did, but you should be careful within these next days. Sally is finally taking action and this time she's targeting Sonic. Sally has been devastated since you left and she blames Sonic. I don't agree with Sally, but she will not listen to reason. These past months I've seen you with him around town and I've seen how happy you look. I won't be much of help, but I hope this could help you in the long run. Stay safe and good luck.
-Bunnie
Amy signed and held the letter close to her chest, thanking Bunnie from the bottom of her heart. Bunnie was always the quiet one from the group. She never spoke. Never said a word unless it was necessary. She wasn't surprised that Bunnie had never brought up that she had known Sonic and her were friends before. Bunnie was a neutral person and never truly chose sides. But this time she almost felt like a peace maker for her.
Amy pulled out her phone and looked down her contacts to find Sonic's name. She called him and place the phone of her ear hurriedly, hoping no other customers came in during her call.
"Hello,"
"Sonic! I need to speak with you urgently. Can you come to your uncle's shop?" Amy said almost out of breath.
Nothing.
Amy raised an eyebrow and moved the phone away from her ear. "Sonic?"
Amy felt a slight breeze to her right and she turned to see Sonic standing before her. 'That was fast,' she thought.
Sonic placed his phone away. "What happened?"
Amy handed him the letter she had been holding and her took her questionably. After reading it Sonic's eyes widened.
"Bunnie came by and gave this to me."
Sonic examined the letter. He read it thoroughly and his head whipped up.
"I don't think she's kidding. I believe her." Amy added on, biting her lip.
"I do too." He replied. He clicked his tongue. "It's just annoying,"
Sonic made a face that was a new sight to Amy. He was clearly annoyed. He didn't like that Sally was making so much drama over trying to prove her point.
"What are you thinking?" She asked carefully.
Sonic shrugged and gave out a heavy sign. "I'm not sure…until she starts making moves can I make mine. To be honest, I don't really care what she does to me. I just hope you aren't hurt cause of her."
"I don't get hurt that easily," Amy spoke bluntly. Her face made Sonic laugh. Amy frowned about to smack him, but Sonic leaned in and pecked her cheek. "For now, let's just worry about dinner tonight. On me. We'll worry about Sally later."
Amy blushed and she covered her face with her hand. "T-That's fine. I'll text you when I end,"
"Haha, who said I was leaving now? I'll wait for you. Besides, If uncle comes, I'd like to say hi."
.:xXx:.
The next day, Amy felt really nervous at school. Her eyes traveled around everywhere, hoping she wouldn't run into Sally. She held on to her books tightly as she walked down the hallway by herself. It was upsetting that she had to pay rent, her groceries, go to school and work. Now she had to worry about Sally, which was another problem on her plate. She hated this feeling. Not only a year ago, did she just have to worry about school.
Amy's head lowered.
It was bad enough that she had suddenly become so emotional. But she couldn't let it get to her. She promised her mother she needed to pass high school. She couldn't get emotional now.
As Amy was deep in thought, Amy failed to see Sally's group not that far away from her. Fiona noticed first and stopped the girls from walking.
"Look,"
Amy continued to walk down the hall, unaware of the girls hawking her. Sally's eyes watched her carefully feeling a little uneasy of Amy spotting them, but Amy never did. She passed normally and suddenly it infuriated her. Did Amy already forget about her? Did she really not care about them already?
Just as they were about to go on their way, an unusual sight caught their eyes. Even Bunnies' eyes widened slightly.
Knuckles stepped in front of Amy's line of view and forcefully made her stop dead in her tracks. Amy refused to look surprise and instead her eyes narrowed. She didn't say anything, but her eyes clearly showed questions.
"Can we talk?"
Her eyebrow rose. He didn't sound forceful or upset, but it sounded more like he was asking. His lips were firm and his eyes weren't wondering. She loosened the grip on her books and she gave out a little sign. "Class will start soon,"
"I need two minutes," He claimed.
Amy understood. Sonic was his friend, someone who he was close to. She understood he was worried. But she could only wonder how the conversation could escalate. She hesitated.
Knuckles noticed this and lifted his hands up in defense. "We don't have to talk in private. I can ask you here. What things were said about me through Sally?" He asked, putting his hands down.
'Straight to the point' she thought.
"That you cheated on her. That you and everyone in your group were plotting out to get us. That you convinced Cream to leave our group. That you only used her for one thing and dumped her." Amy replied, with the same straight forward tone he had.
Knuckles was taken aback. "What?!" he growled.
"And what's worse is I believe a lot of what she said. But some things are starting not to make sense to me anymore." Amy said. Knuckles covered his face with his hand, covering his annoyed look.
"We dated! Yea," He began, dropping his hand. "But even she agreed that we we're official or anything. She wanted to give it a try. We never did anything other than kiss." He snarled.
Amy's eyes widened, "I was told you told your group you wanted to get 'in her pants'." Amy snarled back, taking a step forward, and him back.
Knuckled scoffed in exhaustion, "That's what every guy says to shut their friends up, but in reality, we did nothing. All that happened is that Sally got too attached and I broke things off. She caught me kissing some girl after we broke up and after that she's been at me and my friends. And not just her, you too!" He pointed his finger in front of her face while putting emphasis on 'you'. Her glare loosened and was softening to a confused one. By this point, she was so confused. Everyone had a different story to tell, and she didn't know who was telling the truth. But she knew that he was starting to get aggressive.
"I don't really know who to believe, "Amy began honestly. "But I've been told too many things and at this point it doesn't matter. I'm not friends with Sally anymore, so,"
Knuckles gave her a hard stare. "How do I know you aren't going to do something to Sonic?"
Amy flipped her backpack and opened it. She took out a letter and handed it to him. "This is a letter that was given to me, saying Sally is out to get Sonic. I don't know when, and how, but I already showed Sonic. And now I'm showing you."
Knuckles briefly scanned through the words as Amy explained it to him. At that moment the bell rang and all the students began to get themselves ready to head to class. Amy placed her backpack behind. She needed to head to. "I'm not out to get anyone. I'm with Sonic, because I want to be. That's it. I'm heading to class."
Knuckles watched Amy leave to class with furrowed eyes. He took a look at the paper again. "This is so annoying,"
.:xXx:.
After class ended, another class started until the day finally ended. Sonic had asked for her to wait for him for a bit since he had a small meeting in one of his classes about a project that was due.
Amy walked out of the school and walked to the bleachers near the field. She sat near the bottom and flipped open her phone. She paused for a bit before looking through her contacts. She bit her lip as she found the name she was looking for. She hesitated to push the button, but if she didn't there was no way anything would end.
"Hello Amy?"
Amy whipped her head around to see a girl. A racoon with dark colored lip stick dark clothing. She looked awfully familiar, but she couldn't put her finger on it "Yes?"
The raccoon approached her and smiled. "Oh, I'm actually in one of your classes. I saw you sitting here by yourself and I wanted to say hi,"
Amy raised an eyebrow. She was in her class? She never saw any raccoons in her class. Maybe she wasn't as observant as she thought. A gave a small nod. "Ah, hi…"
The racoon sat next to her and Amy grew suspicious. Why was a random girl suddenly wanting to talk to her?
"We've actually never talk before. I'm Fifi ," She asked.
"Ah, nice to meet you Fifi," Amy replied.
"You're one of Sally's friends huh? I've seen you around often—"
"I'm not Sally's friend anymore," Amy immediately cut her off, her lips firmly pressed.
"Oh, you're not? Sorry…" Fifi apologized. "I always saw you hanging around with that friend group. But I mean you have your reasons,"
"Is there something you need?" Amy interjected, eyeing her a little confused. This was far too random. "You're not really in my class, are you?"
The girl gave her a small chuckle. Her face changed from a nice sweet face, but a smirky one. At that moment, Amy noticed one of her hands was behind her back and was coming out slowly. Her heart clenched.
"You're actually pretty straight to the point. I give you that," Her voice had changed too! Amy got up quickly. The racoon got up at the same time she did. She lifted her hand behind her back, showing a sharp grey item all too familiar to Amy. Before anyone could make a move, a blue flash appeared in front of Amy. Sonic was quick to appear and stop the girl from moving the knife towards Amy.
He grabbed her hand and twisted it. Fifi let out a loud yell as Sonic pulled her down to the floor.
Sonic turned to Amy, "Are you okay?!"
Amy looked pale; all the blood having rushed out of her face from fear. Everything happened so fast, she couldn't process it. Sonic had stopped that girl from stabbing her.
Sonic had come just in time, as he was already looking for Amy. He glared at the girl in the floor. The same girl who had broken into Amy's house a week ago. He put his knee on her back and kept her hands locked together behind her back.
"I know Sally sent you. What does she want?"
The girl struggled to get away from his grip, but Sonic was too strong. "Let go of me you filthy hedgehog!"
Amy walked over to her and crouched down. "Sally sent you to stab me?"
The girl rolled her eye and avoiding looking at straight in the eyes. She wasn't going to admit to anything. She wasn't going to say anything. But, now things were getting weird. Sally ordering her to stab her, didn't seem right.
"Guess, I really didn't know Sally," Amy's voice came out low and hoarse. Sonic felt a small pang in his chest. Amy was upset.
"I'm taking her to the station," Sonic announced. The girl then started to struggle some more. "No release me, you stupid—"
Today is Grammy night! Haha, Have fun today everyone!
