Author's Note:

Well, Hello Peeps and Mareeps, Yazmine here.

So for the 2 or so people who follow this dead fanfic I assume it must be confusing to see a few chapters get uploaded, the story marked as complete and this note at the end of a clearly incomplete story.

This author's note is in essence an official statement of the story being canceled and over.

Insanity or Sanity was to me for a few years one of my bigger passion projects, I focussed and tried my best to make it work from the years of 2016-2020. The story was many things to me and is a strong testament of my own growth as an author and storyteller.

I feel that for a story this important for me, it is vital I go into details on its creation,evolution and eventual downfall.

Insanity started off at some point in 2016, after I watched Monster627's insanity eeveelution animation.

My story was heavily based on the premise of the video. I took some Ocs I had made with my cousins back in 2014-2015 and used them for my own needs, the Ocs where: a leafeon, a jolteon, a flareon and a very familiar umbreon (if you are familiar with my person and work, then i am sure you've heard of Shiva) the male sylveon character was a 100% OC made for the story as I wanted to balance the genders a bit.

It was a story supposed to be told over three epic sagas and one prequel following this poor loner umbreon who made a deal with the devil to kill everyone they know for hurting them. The story was riddled with edge, cheesy, gorey and just poorly written, the first drafts were written on the message draft feature of an old phone my dad had given me.

The published parts of this story never went past the 4th chapter in which the jolteon dies violently and the leafeon attacks the umbreon while also revealing her dark and troubled past about her umbreon sister who is satan killing the leafeon's family and then herself and wanting the leafeon dead for revenge.

This version went to a lost wattpad account inOctober or November of 2016 and then to an FFN account in early 2017.

At some point the story was discovered by Rekad (author of Antimatter and Another sky, check out his work) and that started off what I call my descent into rewrite hell.

I became very hyper focused on fixing all the flaws that Rekad found in my story, so instead of wrapping up the story in a matter of months at a low quality it became a project that needed to be good, I worked on character development, description, not writing walls of text ect ect.

During 2017 I made, uploaded and re-uploaded at least 10 different rewrites and versions of the story, each one with a different plot, storyline and lore. I probably didn't get much far from chapter one for most of these due to my hyperfocus on making the perfect story that would get Rekad's praise.

The details of every rewrite are blurred due to time but at some point there were many more characters in the story and these just kinda vanished, i recall writing the second umbreon personality as a bisexual and questioning why i was writting that and thinking how it was so wrong to write that.

Eventually these characters got names, Storm for the jolteon,Ivy for the leafeon, Ember for the Flareon, Link for the Sylveon and Midnight/Nightmare for the Umbreon. This was a bit better than calling them by their species names and gave me a total of three umbreon OCs at the time, Midnight/Nightmare and Umbreon The Serial Killer (UTSK).

My biggest and farthest rewrite was around mid-late 2017 with the characters named Raiden, Ariada,Caleo,Link and Midnight/Nightmare and a third umbreon was added into the mix known as the Mangle who was a male.

That rewrite got to the 6th chapter published before I hit writer's block and lost speed.

The fact that at the time I was learning the basics of animation and messing around with the character concept of UTSK did not help matters either.

2018 was a blur in regards to this story, i found myself rewriting it at least three different times and not publishing any of these rewrites, not much notable happened aside from improvements in my writing abilities and the story becoming the second partner in a saga about humans experimenting on Pokemon and this poor umbreon getting trapped in the crossfire.

As 2018 continued the story and its characters would be pushed out of the way by an animation idea focussing on UTSK called Karma.

I returned to working on Sanity in 2020, I got a beta reader and she reviewed the first three chapters I had written for the story, then a friend Nomic Imanton1 helped me further with beta reading. I published the first chapter again on FFN and then jumped ship, I just no longer felt interested in the story.

I tried to salvage the story for a while, tried to inspire myself to care about it again but it was all null.

Sometimes you just have to accept the truth and in this case it was to shelve the idea of Sanity and its characters and focus on what was now my passion project.

This very odd animated story I had titled Everwoods featuring an old Umbreon OC renamed Shiva.

So that's the basic story of how we got to this point, this point where I add the few chapters I had gotten done in 2020, mark the story as complete and post this note.

This story, even in its permanent incompleteness, is very special to me. Unlike Life,Death,Peace and War, it is not a testament of the time and person writing it but rather evidence of growth as a writer and person.

Without this story I wouldn't be the person I am today, nor would I be in the place I am today.

Sanity had to crawl for Everwoods to run.

Will I upload the previous rewrites?

Yes and no, unfortunately any rewrites made before the year of 2018 were lost when a school PC automatically formatted my USB stick. Anything and everything I've managed to salvage so far is included in this fanfic under the chapter title of "Discovered Fragments" (it's the one before this Author's Note), this particular chapter may or may not be updated in the future and also also includes notes and small segments of the two other stories i had planned in the Sanityverse.

What will happen to the characters and lore made for this story?

In simple words most of the characters and plotlines and lore have been shelved, I'm keeping it all in mind but for the time being and in the foreseeable future I won't be using any of the characters in any stories or content of lore aspects most noticeably that involving species lore has been reworked and made part of the Everwoods canon.

Taking into account how much of the Everwoods cast are reworked OCs from 2015-2016, perhaps the Sanity cast will reappear someday in another shape and form.

Will other stories on this account be preserved?

The older stories on this account will be preserved,any active older stories I have on this account will have this Author's Note added at the end and be marked as Complete. It's also likely that if I have the chance I'll publish a story on this account containing a compilation of even older stories (2015-2016) that I've written, along with my thoughts then and now and what happened during development. Most of those stories have been lost to time but if i can get them back or find versions of them that still exist I will try to reunite them and post them here, as a memory of the past.

So what will become of this account?

The account will hopefully become more active as 2022 goes on, while I do not plan on continuing or updating any of my older fanfics, I do plan on adding some new content to the lineup if said content falls within site you've been able to read I am working on an animated Storyline called Everwoods and I intend on using this account (as well as my A03 and Wattpad accounts) to publish and share side stories relating to Everwoods as a kinda optional bonus content to go alongside the animations and artwork.

Officially now, We put Midnight, Nightmare and Mangle to rest.
