Yo ! Hope you enjoyed the chapter six the start of the soft reboot. I still stand by the decisions to change what I changed as I want to express Naruto may be a prodigy but still a child not war hardened like Kakashi just yet. Chapter 7
It had been a couple weeks since the land of waves mission, Kakashi had called his team to the training grounds and not surpassingly was late. Naruto knew where he was leading him to not mind but his two teammates showed their displeasure as Naruto rested on a tree. He changed his apparel following his return. A black shinobi jacket with the Uzumaki swirl on the back, and one Uchiha and Uzumaki logo on each of his shoulders. Under the open jacket was a mesh undershirt, black pants with black shinobi boots as well. Naruto wore his headband around his forehead and changed it to a red band.
Kakashi appeared in a puff of smoke with an eye smile and 'Icha Icha' in hand. "You see there an old lady who needed my help to cross the ro-" Sakura cut him off with her first in front of her "Sensei! No more excuses cha~!" Considering how far Naruto and Sasuke were along in their training, Sakura had made the most improvements by far. Even Naruto or Sasuke could spar with her so long as they held back. 'Chunin exams?' Naruto though to himself, still not saying a word but dropped down by his teammates.
Kakashi pulled out three slips of paper handed it to the three, "After your performance at the land of waves, I would be silly not recommend you for the chunin exams! Now only go if you feel ready and you want to!" This led Sasuke to raise his eyebrows, not that Sakura or the other genin knew but Naruto was a former ANBU, surely, he doesn't need some exam? "Is it true if one of us doesn't show we cannot enter?" Naruto asked, knowing the answer which caused Kakashi's sweat to drop and sigh.
Sakura's eyes widened this now depended on her as she could not see the two Uchiha saying no. "Well, ja ne!" Kakashi said not even answering but vanishing in a puff of smoke. The three genin didn't even have to say anything and just began walking together into deeper parts of the village. Though they weren't exactly the most social team most of their time was spent together if they were not training alone.
Upon turning the corner Naruto noticed Konahamaru, the third Hokage's grandson being lifted by a sand ninja?
Naruto may have his anger with the third, but an innocent child is an innocent child. Naruto with hate in his eyes and his sharingan active appeared behind the sand ninja with a painted face. Naruto stood silently as Temari stared in shock as the blonde's speed. "You better what yourself kid!" Konkuro said looking down at the child. Naruto began releasing killer intent causing Konkuro to drop Konahamaru immediately, Konkuro could barley to turn around to see the cold red eyes staring at him.
Naruto pressed the tip of his kunai into Konkuro's back, "That's Hokage-sama's grandchild. I can kill you right here right now, fully justified." Konkuro couldn't even bring himself to talk, even Sasuke and Sakura felt it. 'T-this is even worse than Zabuza!' Sakura thought to herself, it was ghastly. Like it was cutting the air around it. "You stupid fool," a red head said standing on a tree with a hateful stare.
Naruto still had the kunai pressed before looking at Temari, "hn, the children of the Kazakage." Naruto said softly before stopping his killing intent and pulling the Kunai off Konkuro's back. "I-I am sorry Gaara!" Gaara and Naruto locked eyes causing Gaara to let out a creepy smile. "We three share the same eyes!" he said almost salivating, Naruto and Sasuke both raised their brows before Naruto turned his attention towards Temari. "You held your own against my intent well. I hope to see you in the exams, Temari of the Sand, you as well, one tails jinchuriki."
"What are your names?" Gaara asked, his smile gone and now on the floor with the rest of them. "Uzumaki Naruto," was all Naruto said, his sharingan staring down Gaara. "Uchiha Sasuke." Naruto narrowed his eyes and grabbed Konahamru's hand before kneeling to him. Sakura stared in awe; she had never seen Naruto be so gentle. He was always so brutal and cold, "You are okay, go back home and forget about this weak, wannabe Sasori."
Konkuro wanted to talk more but was cutoff by Gaara's stare and the sand sibling walked the other direction. Konahamaru looked up at him, "You! You will be my teacher and help me be Hokage!" Naruto's eyes widened for a second, seeing himself as a child right in front of him. "Hokage huh? Do you think that's a family gene?" he said with a soft smile, one Sasuke and Sakura hadn't seen too often in years. Ironic, given his father was also Hokage but Konahamaru smiled and jumped up, "Grandpa talks about you and how you'll be the one to the hat from him!" Naruto's eyes really did widen this time, he had not talked about being Hokage since before joining the anbu. 'Am I making the right choices?' Naruto shook the thoughts off and smiled. "Maybe another time Konahamaru, I am busy now." He said before poking his forehead and walking to his team.
"Naruto, what is a one tails jinchuriki?" Naruto's eye twitched as he realized his team still did not know he was the nine tails jinchuriki. "What, I am not worth discussing?" Karuma asked and Naruto replied quickly 'Shut up people who don't pay rent are not worth discussion.' the Kyuubi scoffed as Naruto looked over at Sakura before back at the ground they were walking on.
"Have you ever heard about the tailed beast, Sakura?" Naruto asked calmly, Sasuke listened too hoping Sakura would ask all the questions. Sakura nodded, "Like the nine tailed fox?" Naruto's eyebrow twitched again, "Yeah exactly, and when one of those tailed beasts is sealed inside someone, in this example that unstable redhead." Naruto said before thinking to himself how strange it was to see the sand ninja will no accompaniment.
"He is a jinchuriki, the one tailed beast is sealed inside of him, there are nine total tailed beast, each scarily more powerful than their counterparts." Sakura stared intently, "So he's basically like a host?" Naruto nodded, "That is a correct way to think about it. However, in terms of sealing jutsu, his does not appear good." Naruto said before disappearing in a swirl of lightning.
Naruto knocked on the door of the Hokage office. "Come in." Hiruzen said, Naruto entered slowly his blonde hair covering his Sharingan, "Hokage-Sama, I have something to report." Naruto said dropping to one knee causing Hiruzen to laugh which annoyed Naruto. "You are no longer ANBU you know; you don't have to report like this." Naruto sighed, his relationship with the third would never be the same and he should know that.
"The son of the Kazakage Gaara seems to have a weirdly awful seal. His actions are that of one being corrupted by the one tailed beast." Naruto paused, "I advise you keep your eyes peeled, there is no excuse for the Kazakage to not fix the seal on that boy." Naruto said looking up with his sharingan, "Thank you, Naruto-Kun. I will discuss things with the Kazakage should I deem it appropriate, unless you have more to say, dismissed."
"Hai." Naruto said vanishing. He walked up to the forest of death, a place he spent so much time perfecting his lightning style jutsu's. Naruto having the affinity for wind, fire, and lightning made him a deadly matchup to most style of fighters. Naruto created thirty shadow clowns all surrounding him, "Shall we dance?" The real Naruto asked before hell broke loose.
Anko, a purple haired jonin watched with fire in her eyes as this boy fired jutsu after jutsu, intense dodges and close calls. "My oh my these genin are reaching a league of their own." Naruto had already been practicing for hours begin to be reckless. He remembered watching Itachi do a drill where he'd dodge tons of Kunai and even dodge them in the middle of the air.
Naruto set it up, and cut the string holding all the Kunai, this caused Anko's eyes to widen, 'what is he doing?!' Naruto waited until the last second before jumping out of the first two, throwing a Kunai of his own at another to his left. "Shit!" Naruto said realizing he carelessly completely forgot about the one headed for his leg which was in the air as Naruto's head faced the ground. Naruto attempted to channel lightning into his leg to destabilize the Kunai, but it stabbed right into Naruto's knee, and he began a 10 meter fall.
Before Naruto could react Anko flew down and caught him landing perfectly holding Naruto in the bridal position. Naruto's upper cheek slightly flushed as he pulled himself off of her and stood slightly taller than the Jonin, before remembering there was very much a Kunai in his knee and he fell, sitting.
"What kind of training are you doing kid?! You into pain or something?" Anko shouted with impure thoughts of what his answer may be. "Hn, I… miscalculated." Naruto said realizing and questioning how made this mistake. He was former ANBU! But he wasn't Itachi. Naruto scoffed and clenched his fist, "Okay this is gonna hurt but you aren't doing anything so," Anko reached over dropping her chest near his eyes and pulled out the Kunai. Naruto's eyebrow twitched but he made no noise and relocated his eyes to the purple haired woman's eyes.
He stood up slowly and finally stood over the shorter ninja, Naruto ever so prideful and embarrassed looked away before mumbling, "Thanks." Anko grinned, "Might be the first time I ever heard Uchiha say thank you to something that wasn't their Sharingan." Naruto scoffed and continued looking away, 'How did I mess up that bad? This was not a normal mistake, right' Naruto thought before Anko spoke again, "Aren't you Kakashi's brat? A shitty injury before the chunin exams sounds like a disaster for your team."
Naruto sighed, "I heal fast… Uzumaki thing." Anko smirked, 'yeah, sure, that is why you heal fast.' "Well, I'm sure ill see you in this forest again very soon, Uzumaki-Kun." Anko said with a wink before leaving him alone.
Meanwhile at the Gates of Konoha a man with lifted red sandals, large locks of white hair, a huge, perverted smile began his walk towards the hot springs, filled with a lot, a lot of subjects about to be… researched. "Jiraiya the legendary sanin?!" a villager shouted causing an even bigger grin to appear on the mans face. "You bet this it is, indeed, me! Jiraiya one of the Legendary Sanin!" he continued his shtick and dance, flirting with woman he saw along the way to the hot springs.
The night was followed by a bright shiny day in Konoha and the start of the annual chunin exams. Team 7 found themselves outside the academy, each member ready and willing to do what it takes. Naruto was confident they both would show up, Sasuke being a well above average genin and Sakura likely the best kunoichi in her class, their odds were good.
The first thing they noticed when they walked in was three teams of genin screaming at the chunin to let them in. All three of team 7 could notice the genjutsu and kept walking, neither Sasuke nor Naruto had their sharingan, it was just a bad genjutsu. The team made it up the stairs before being interrupted by taijutsu specialist Rock Lee. Naruto's eyebrow raised as he immediately thought of Kakashi's friend Guy before realizing it was his student instead. "Oh yes! The two Uchiha, the prodigies versus the incredible taijutsu caused by the great flames of youth!" Lee shouted with fire in his eyes, pointing at the two Uchiha.
All three shared a giant sweat drop and stared before Naruto spoke, "Rock Lee, likely the best taijustu user in all the land of fire," Lee's eyes lit up hearing the praise, "dance we will Rock Lee, but today is not that day." Naruto said before beginning his walk with his team towards the door to the exam room. "I see, and I am sorry, but I must fight one of you!" Lee began to charge towards Naruto but before he could attack Lee was close enough where Naruto's speed looked like a bloody flicker, and he pressed a kunai gently on his throat.
"I'm sorry Lee, but another time." Naruto said pulling the blade off and walking back to his team. When they arrived Kakashi appeared from a scroll with an eye smile. "Glad you all decided to come! I have no advice other than just know I am proud of you all. I have all the faith you'll do just fine." Kakashi said before leaving in a puff of smoke the same way he showed up.
Before entering Naruto activated his sharingan and pushed the door open, walking in with his team. It was filled with likely thirty plus squads, some who tried to flood the room with killing intently but merely were able to mist the room. The doors behind them closed and Ino came running to hug Sasuke, "Sasuke-kun~! You made it!" The blonde shouted as her team of Choji and Shikamaru followed, Naruto let a smile at Shikamaru which he returned and put his hands on is head. "Boy we're all here, isn't that just troublesome?" Shikamaru said before Kiba, Hinata and Shino walked up as well. "Haha! All nine of us made it and were are gonna show everyone else who is boss!" Kiba shouted as Naruto just blankly stared at the rest of the room. "Shut up, Kiba." Naruto said, before Kiba could reply he was cut off.
"You know, you all should likely keep it down over here, you are fresh meat and already making a lot of enemies." Kabuto said stepping near them, causing Kiba to scoff at him. "It may not be as easy as you think, in fact this is my sixth time taking the exam!" Naruto raised his eyebrow and stared at Kabuto with his sharingan. 'Six? What are you failing on purpose? You are literally a doctor ninja.' Naruto thought to himself, he was sure this is the same guy who treated him that night.
"However, I have what may interest you." Kabuto said pulling out a large orange stack of cards, "You give me a name, I got you with the intel." The nine genin all stared before Kiba was first to speak, "Uzumaki Naruto!" he shouted causing a grin from Kabuto. "Uzumaki Naruto, also referred to as Uchiha Naruto. 12 D rank missions, 5 c rank missions, and get this, 1 A rank mission in the land of waves. He excels in Ninjutsu and Genjutsu making him a very difficult opponent without a doujutsu of your own. His skills in taijustu are above chunin level and its said he already mastered the Sharingan having unlocked it when he was just eight-""That's enough." Naruto said cutting him off and walking up to him. "Gaara of the sand." Naruto said still giving Kabuto a cold stare.
Kabuto merely smiled and went through his cards, pulling out Gaara. "Gaara of the sand, son of the Kazakage, said to have the perfect defense as he has never come back from a mission injured. 3 D rank mission, 8 C rank Mission, 12 B rank missions, 9 A rank, and, whew, 7 S rank missions." Naruto listened carefully, "Not that you deserve my help kit but the one tail' is likely the one who protects him from being struck." Naruto listened to Karuma but didn't reply. "I see," Naruto said before a large man named Ibiki came in screaming at everyone to get ready to begin the exams.
Ya! Another long chapter. I wanted to get some more character work done in this chapter as I try picking up a somewhat good but messy script from younger me. I am not committing to any pairings for any characters yet but if you couldn't tell im gonna start planting some seeds the next few chapters. Next chapter starts the chunin exams and we will have some action. Cyaa.
