OK FINALLY HAVE THIS FREAKING CHAPTER OUT!
Sorry about that I have a lot going on in life right now i'm going to be in a play so i've been practicing for that.
Ok three things before we start.
Juvia is NOT going to be in this fic, i'm sorry, I can not write her obsessive fangirlness I just can't.
There are two fics I need to give shout outs two. The first being a fic called . Lost Iced Shell by Kurenai0111 . Oh my gosh guys it's such a good fic! It deserves so much more popularity then my fic just seriously go there and read it and review it so this author will write more wonderful stories. There's gray angst. There's Natsu Gray friendship and theirs Lyon, Gray brotherly love!
The second fic is to learn about about lucy, this one's on Fictionpress it's a pretty popular fic but I thought i'd advertise it
Ok so let's get on with this fic!
Thankfully after two days of rest Lyon was finally able to be up and around again and was able to head out with Gray to the Fairy Tail guild hall. He was slowly regaining feeling and movement in his left arm though he wasn't coordinated enough with it to lift things up, at least he could feel it now and put a shirt on himself instead of being helped like a small child.
Still nowhere near being able to use magic according to Porlyusica which still sucked greatly in Lyon's opinion. He was starting to understand Chelia during all those months she wasn't able to use a bit of magic.
He was still trying to avoid Gray's questions on what the nightmares were about, the images of seeing Gray dying in front of him like to flash in front of his mind from time to time but Lyon learned a long time ago how to hide emotions, or to distract himself from them. Mentally shaking his head from these thoughts he looked through the neighborhood they walked through, a few people waving at Gray that recognized the Fairy Tail mage.
Lyon glanced over at Gray and sighed "Gray your clothes." He commented watching Gray look down and let out a squawk in surprise at seeing all of his clothes except for his boxers were gone and began looking around frantically.
Lyon sighed, glancing around for the missing articles of clothing and noticed that most people barely gave Gray's lack of attire a second glance, a few chuckling or shaking their heads but no one giving him dirty looks or shrieks of surprise like in most neighborhoods. "Wow you're stripping habit seems to be famous here." Lyon noted.
"Shut up Lyon!" Gray shouted as he pulled on a pair of pants.
Lyon just snickered, that seemed to pretty much confirm it, as he picked up a shirt and jacket tossing them to Gray. He teased Gray about his stripping habit all the way to the guild hall enjoying the shade of red his younger pupils' face was making.
Knowing Gray wouldn't start a fight when Lyon was still weakened from the poison so being able to tease him without retaliation was great. Though Gray might get revenge later for now Lyon was going to enjoy it while he could
When they arrived at the guild Lyon wasn't surprised to have a weight run into him as he used his good arm to steady the pink haired hyperactive girl that leaped at him. "Lyon we were so worried!" Chelia wailed, hugging him.
"Sorry about that, Chelia." Lyon said, rubbing her head seeing his other two guild members walk over.
"You seem to be better." Yuka noted.
"Can't say i'm all the way better still stuck weeks without magic but definitely better than a few days ago." Lyon said.
"You were pretty out of it last time we saw you." Yuka stated.
Toby made a humm in agreement, Chelia pulled Lyon's arm along and Lyon followed as he was pulled to sit down next to her at the table. Wendy was there as well as the rest of Gray's team currently eating lunch.
Yuka and Toby hurried to sit next to Lyon as Gray went and sat next to Erza. "How are you doing, Lyon?" Erza asked as she ate her strawberry cake…..Gray definitely wasn't exaggerating on that woman's love for the stuff. She had a bigger sweet tooth then Chelia and that was saying something.
"Better than last time." Lyon said.
"Wow you have Gray's habit of being vague on answers." Happy noted, from where he was eating a fish.
"I resent that." Lyon said with an annoyed look at the cat.
"You are being vague though." Yuka noted.
"What's vague? Is it yummy" Toby asked and Lyon had to resist the urge to smack his forehead. Yuka just gave an exasperated look at Toby, sometimes the two Lamia Scale mages wondered how many times Toby had been dropped on his head as a child, obviously enough to scramble his brains a few times.
"It sucks being unable to help." Chelia pouted.
"After I get my magic back you can help me beat the shit out of whoever freaking poisoned me," Lyon offered and reached his right arm out to give her a high five.
"Do you have any idea about that?" Erza asked.
"No clue I've been on a few missions the last month so narrowing it down is a bit hard." Lyon said honestly "I haven't had time to really think over it since I was pretty out of it." He rubbed his arm in thought.
"Maybe you ate something weird." Natsu said through his mouth full of meat.
"I'm/he's not you." Lyon and Gray said in unison.
"What was that ice for brains?" Natsu demanded, glaring at them.
"That you're a dumbass who will eat anything you flaming moron" Gray stated back.
"You picking a fight underpants?!"
"If the glove fits you, motion sick deadweight!" Gray said now their cheeks pressed together in anger.
"Enough!" Erza said slamming her fists down on the two causing them to be unconscious on the floor.
Lyon coughed to hold back a laugh and the others just stared. "Those two never learn." Lucy sighed.
"Have you eaten Lyon?" Chelia asked, changing the subject.
"I figured I could have something here." Lyon noted, technically it was Gray's idea saying how it might be a good idea to appease his friends that he was eating.
"Oh you should try the pancakes!" Chelia said.
"I'll have to pass on that." Lyon noted not having that big of an appetite or a sweet tooth.
Chelia pouted and Mirajane came over, seeming to have heard Lyon, stepping over the unconscious bodies of Gray and Natsu. "Anything you'd like?" Mirajane asked.
Lyon ordered his food as well as Chelia, Yuka and Toby the Fairy Tail mages having already ordered theirs.
"Oh Lyon, I brought the Lacrima you asked for." Yuka said holding it.
Lyon smirked at this and the others looked over curious. "What's the Lacrima for?" Lucy asked.
Lyon leaned forward whispering into Lucy's ear and Lucy's eyes widened before smiling. "Oh let me get it set up!" Lucy accepted the Lacrima from Yuka and ran over to where Mirajane was.
Gray and Natsu, who were now conscious, looked confused. "What's Lucy doing?" Natsu asked.
"You'll see." Lyon said.
About 20 minutes later Mirajane got out the rarely used Lacrima player the guild got for movie nights. "Hey everyone! Thanks to the Lamia Scale mages we got the recording Lacrima of the Lamia Scale Thanksgiving Festival featuring our Wendy!" Mirajane said.
"Lyon-San!" Wendy squealed face red with embarrassment
The Fairy Tail mages immediately squealed and cheered at this and Wendy put her face in her hands and Chelia patted her shoulder.
"You can skip the beginning if you want." Lyon noted towards Mirajane.
"No way I want to see all of the performances!" Someone protested.
"Don't say I didn't warn you." Lyon said with a shrug.
Mirajane played the Lacrima and it showed Yuka introducing the players to the stage first being Lyon who put on a show of ice birds and ice rabbits for the children who squealed in excitement. "Wow you're a show off." Gray noted.
"I've seen you at Fantasia Gray, you have no room to talk." Lyon retorted.
"The kids seem to love it." Erza said.
"Oh the kids in town love Lyon! They're always asking for ice animal figurines and such." Chelia exclaimed.
"Didn't know you were such a softie." Gray said.
"You've never done that?" Chelia asked Gray.
"Well I used to make cool stuff for kids not wimp stuff like Lyon like swords and weapons but Master made me stop." Gray said smirking when Lyon punched his arm.
"Because kids kept beating eachother with them." Erza noted.
"Yes, Gray giving weapons to young children is such a good idea." Lyon said with heavy sarcasm.
"It's not like they were sharp or anything!" Gray protested.
Lyon's show ended and Toby's was up, he made an impression of himself crying before snapping demanding to know why nobody was laughing before Lyon dragged him off the stage looking embarrassed for his friend. A few Fairy Tail mages laughed at the sight "I still don't get why no one laughed until I was being dragged off." Toby muttered.
"Because you have a brain the size of a pea." Yuka said.
"What was that?!" Toby demanded.
Next was Obaa-baa-Sama's oriental dance….which ended up with her attempting a strip show which Lyon swiftly dragged her off the stage. "You're Masters quite….energetic." Erza said.
"Agreed." Lyon said with a nod.
"You seem to be the peacekeeper of the guild." Lucy said, looking at Lyon.
"He is." Yuka and Chelia said in unison.
"It used to be Jura's job until he joined the council but Lyon took over afterwards." Yuka added. "He has an issue of overworking himself though." Yuka said and Lyon sent him a glare.
"Yuka do you ever know how to shut up?" Lyon demanded.
Yuka just shrugged, obviously feeling no remorse for sharing that.
Finally Chelia and Wendy's show came on and Wendy now had her head on her knees, hands over her ears Chelia patting her back. Everyone in the guild hall cheered at this at their Wendy performing. "Forever forever!" Toby sang badly.
"Wendy's so cute isn't she?!" Chelia said.
"You're quite cute too." Erza said and Chelia grinned at that, unlike Wendy she wasn't shy about receiving compliments.
The performance was over and the guild was cheering at that. "Lyon can we keep this?!" Macao asked.
"Sure we have copies back at the guild hall." Lyon said and Wendy groaned.
"You know I'd love to hear some of the stories of what happened when you joined Lamia Scale Wendy." Erza said.
"Ooh Wendy was a big help on our missions!" Chelia said.
"I wasn't really….." Wendy said, looking at her hands embarrassed.
"You were." Lyon said, patting her head.
They began chatting about some of the missions that happened as their meals arrived, a few fist fights happened between Natsu and Gray. Lyon looked around the guild realizing something. "Hey where's Juvia-Chan?" He asked.
"Oh she went on a mission with Lisanna don't know when she'll be back." Lucy explained. "Gray has a pile of letters she sends to the guild daily." Lucy said teasingly looking at Gray who looked away.
Lyon tried to ignore that pang of jealousy that hit him, Juvia made her choice and he wasn't going to try to persuade her otherwise anymore.
He changed the topic by asking Erza about an article that he had read about Fairy Tail curious about the real story, they had just gotten to the part of the hoard of winged squirrels with laser eyes (He's seen many weird creatures but that was a new one) when the doors to the guild were slammed open and Lyon turned then stared in surprise. At the door was Sherry who looked like she ran here from all the panting. "Lyon-Sama!" She said running to him and hugging him.
"Sherry what are you doing here?!" Lyon asked.
"I heard about the poisoning! Are you ok, love? Have you been eating? How are you feeling? You better not be hiding anything"
Lyon sent a glare to the three guildmates at Sherry's chattering before Lyon tried to reassure the panicking woman that he was fine. She wanted every detail of what happened and Lyon was plotting a way to get revenge on his guildmates for this. After about an hour of interrogation Sherry eventually sat down satisfied. "Mo be more careful." She said.
"It was nice of you to come visit him." Erza noted.
"Of course it's love!" Sherry said.
"You go to Blue Pegasus now right?" Lucy asked.
"Yup me and my hubby! Oh let me tell you about our last date!" Sherry said excitedly.
Lyon, Yuka and Toby all hid expressions of dread at realizing what was going to happen when Lyon had some quick thinking. "You know I better head back today, don't want to overexert myself." Lyon said, looking at Gray to go along.
"Yeah you're right." Gray said not wanting to hear the girls talk about dates.
"Oh of course!" Sherry said and hugged Lyon giving him a peck on the cheek. "Get better love!" She said.
"Will do." Lyon said and he and Gray quickly left. Lyon sighing in relief when they were out of the guild. "Oh thank god that worked, last time she told us about a date she went in DEEEP detail on every single thing down to what each strand of Ren's hair was like." Lyon said, shuttering at the memory.
"Thank you for that save then." Gray said.
"Going to kill them for telling her." Lyon said. "She worries too much."
"To be fair you were practically dying of a fever a few days ago." Gray said.
"I wasn't dying….." Lyon argued.
"Might as well have been."
"Don't start nagging me, I already have my guild mates for that."
"You stop being an idiot and I won't."
"Oh I know for a fact you've pulled more dumb shit then I have Gray."
"How would you possibly know that?" Gray demanded.
"For one Wendy was in our guild, two any time I chatted with your guild mates they mentioned SEVERAL stories about you being a moron starting with taking on an entire guild by yourself when you were 8."
"Which one there was like 7 of them I took on at that age." Gray stated nonchalantly.
"...you are just proving me right." Lyon said.
"Oh like you weren't pulling stupid shit after…." Gray immediately shut up. That was a topic neither of them breached. Lyon looked away not wanting to admit to Gray that yes during the years they were first separated that he had been pulling stupid shit for 10 years and not just with trying to revive deliora. It wasn't exactly a secret, if Gray ever asked Lyon would tell, but Gray obviously felt too guilty to bring it up.
They were about a third of the way to Gray's place when Lyon spotted a bookstore. "Hey you go ahead i'm going to look for some more reading material if i'm going to be stuck here for weeks might as well get some reading done." He noted.
"Nerd." Gray said with a smirk and Lyon didn't bother retorting heading to the bookstore.
He spent about 30 minutes browsing picking out a good selection of books from magic theory to unknown animals. It was a pain carrying the books with one arm but he managed to use his shoulder to open the door.
As he walked to Gray's place he paused suddenly feeling a pair of eyes on him and turned defensively looking around for the perpetrator. After several minutes of seeing no one he sighed and turned back around. Maybe the lack of being able to do anything was making him paranoid.
Damn Vastia! He was supposed to have suffered an agonizing death by now! Now he was staying with the strongest guild in Fiore while he recovered! Getting to him again wouldn't be easy, he had even seen three Fairy Tail mages pass by while Lyon was at the bookstore alone. He would need to divert their attention before he could try to get to Vastia again. This time he would make him suffer for the humiliation and money that he had put into this. Turning away the figure walked away plans being made in motion.
Gray woke up to the sound of gasping in the other room and turned over in his bed sighing. Should he ignore it and let Lyon hold some of his pride or go comfort him? This was the 6th night since his fever broke that he heard Lyon wake up from a nightmare. Two of those times he had run to the bathroom hurling. He listened as Lyon walked out of his room towards the kitchen most likely the sound of water running.
When they were little, usually Ur was the one comforting him with nightmares, Lyon sleeping, or pretending to sleep. But there were a few nights where Lyon would comfort him Ur being asleep or gone from the house for some reason. He was a lot more awkward, usually just patting his back and repeating 'it's ok' obviously having no idea on what he was doing but it was comforting all the same even though it was also embarrassing.
They were both grown adults, Lyon now being 8 years older instead of 1 so comforting each other during nightmares didn't seem appropriate but Lyon seemed to be having them quite often. With a sigh Gray got up out of bed and headed to the kitchen to see Lyon who seemed to have shred his nightshirt in the night standing over the sink a cup in hand head bent down his other hand still weakened gripping the sink shaking. "You know Porlyusica would probably give you sleeping medicine if you ask." Gray said and Lyon jerked back surprised, dropping the glass in his hand to the floor.
Lyon swore under his breath and bent down to pick it up when Gray said "Let me get a broom and dustpan." And hurried from the room to grab the items and came back.
Lyon reached for it but Gray shook his head seeing how Lyon's hands were still shaking he swiftly sweeped up the glass and threw it away. "Sorry about that." Lyon muttered, unable to meet Gray's gaze, he wasn't just apologizing about the glass.
"No problem." Gray said and put a hand on Lyon's shoulder. "How about you sit down?" He recommended. "I'll make some tea."
Lyon looked like he wanted to protest but seemed to decide otherwise and headed to the couch sitting down. "Since when did you know how to make tea?" Lyon asked.
"An old guild member Enno taught me, she noticed I had trouble sleeping and taught me some that would help." Gray explained from the kitchen as he got the kettle ready
Lyon didn't ask why he would have trouble sleeping, he knew why. When the tea was ready Gray carried the cups into the living room and Lyon accepted one carefully sipping it. "Huh, not as bad as I thought it would be." Lyon noted.
"Gee thanks." Gray said sarcastically and looked at Lyon who kept his gaze on the cup, Lyon was avoiding looking at him. Why would he do that unless….
"...it was about me wasn't it….the nightmare?" Gray asked.
Lyon looked like a deer caught in headlights obviously not having expected Gray to guess what it was about. He looked away again and muttered. "Yeah…..i really fucked things up didn't I back then?" Lyon asked.
"Fucked things up?" Gray asked.
Lyon looked at him incredulously "When I blamed you for something that was a demon's fault! Or when I beat the crap out of you because you were trying to stop me from being insane. Or the fact I fucking almost made you use Iced Shell! Hell I wasn't even able to help you when you were killed by the dragonoids!" He said his voice was getting louder and louder, his grip on the mug tight.
"...Lyon." Gray said surprised, he never thought Lyon would blame himself for these things. After all it was Gray's fault it started.
"Fuck Gray I stabbed you with a fucking sword when you were trying to tell me about Ur! What kind of sibling disciple does that? I might as well have spat on Ur's teachings damn it." Lyon's voice trembled and Gray saw tears gathering in the corner of his eyes.
"Lyon it's ok…." Gray started to say.
"It fucking isn't Gray i let you blame yourself for things that weren't your fault, hell I know you're thinking right now that it was your fault not mine! I could have fucking killed you during that fight! Or made you eternally turn into ice….fuck i usually don't dwell on this stuff but….." Lyon set his mug down and gripped his hair,
"I keep remembering and dreaming about it and and….god damn it I was seriously messed up!" Lyon said his breathing was getting slightly heavier.
Gray decided he couldn't sit back and just watch this anymore and moved forward so he could wrap his arms around Lyon, the elder man tensing immediately. "Breathe Lyon." Gray said softly.
Lyon gasped for a moment trying to calm his breaths down. Gray felt Lyon's forehead on his shoulder as he trembled. "Lyon, if there's one thing I learned is that if you keep letting past mistakes affect you like this it will tear you apart."
He heard Lyon snort and responded "Yes I know I'm being a hypocrite and you're right I do still blame myself for what happened to Ur…..but in a way you helped me with that." He said.
Lyon moved back to look at Gray with a puzzled expression. "Huh?"
"What I said, when we met up at Oracion Seis you didn't treat me with disgust like I thought I deserved you even worked together with me. Hell you made the plan that helped defeat Racer…..other then the suicidal attempt…."
"Suicidal? I was trying to stop you and Sherry from bein…."
"And I heard you when you communicated through Hibiki's telepathy, that helped me get back up then. Hell afterwards you even started rebuilding that relationship. I was surprised when you actually made the effort to visit me at the guild." Yes Lyon had randomly visited the Fairy Tail Guild Hall, his excuse was he was buying time and figured annoying Gray would be a good pass time but Gray had been in a better mood that day thanks to it.
"We may have had a lot of bad blood in the past but both of us had a hand in it." Gray said. "Plus you didn't try to kill me."
"Did you take too many hits to the head?" Lyon asked.
"Lyon during our first fight you could have finished me off when I was down and vulnerable but you just left."
"I didn't expect you to get back up." Lyon said, diverting his gaze. Gray moved his hands so he could grab Lyon's face and made him look at him
"You knew I had guild mates on the island, you didn't know how many but you knew they most likely would have come back for me. And the thing with the sword, you hit nowhere vital, you hit my side where it would least likely cause me to die immediately and we're ice mages we can use ice to seal the wounds so we don't bleed out or get infection until we get help YOU KNEW THAT" He said firmly. "And Iced Shell? You didn't know i'd do something that stupid that was my own fault."
He then leaned forward pressing his forehead against Lyon, an action Ur often did with them. "You're my brother in everything but blood even if I deny it later. We'll have our fights and disagreements but we have a connection that can't be broken easily."
Gray saw tears running down Lyon's cheeks and moved his head back looking at him. "I'm sorry." Lyon said his voice was weak.
"I'm sorry too." Gray said, feeling tears gathering in his own eyes.
Lyon reached around him hugging Gray close and both brothers sat there in each other's embrace tears running down their eyes as old wounds seemed to slowly but surely heal.
