Sky's having tea with Diaspro and his parents when the Head of the Guards comes in with an expression equal parts confused and worried - it makes Erendor tense up immediately, even as Samara mutters "Oh, I remember that expression…"
Diaspro hums, asking "How so, Your Highness?"
Samara casually says "It was a very common expression when we were your age. Marion would get an idea in her head, and nobody else could follow her explanations." They could barely keep up with the woman herself, and trying to talk her out of it was usually impossible.
Erendor gets even more worried when he hears Princesses Bloom and Stella are…digging up buckets of dirt from the gardens.
Something about an experiment involving plants, from what they managed to decipher from Bloom's immediate explanation. Which lasted five minutes without taking so much as a breath, far as the guards could tell, and by the end they were just happy to go find him and not try to think too much on what all she said. It was the only way to not have a migraine or burst into tears at the sheer complexity.
Erendor just groans, holding his head in his hands and muttering "I'm getting a migraine…" He'd sincerely hoped, after having it all but shoved down his throat just who her parents were, that Bloom didn't take quite so much after Marion.
Those hopes? Thoroughly dashed - by the guards' expressions, no less. He remembers, all too well, the way Marion would have everyone questioning if the sky was up or down by the time she was through with an explanation of a project.
When they get out there, Erendor almost terrified to find out just what idea Marion's daughter has come into, they find Princess Stella looking like she may well scream as she stares at Bloom digging with a shovel.
And then Stella's face almost literally lights up as she sees them, and she quickly types a text to Sky. 'Save me, please, she's turned into one of those mad scientists we learned about in history class!' Not a good period for Magix, where the unknown was studied far too thoroughly, but a point in history nonetheless - and Bloom, in Stella's opinion, is going down that wormhole rapidly.
Erendor swallows when he sees the text, and Samara murmurs "Like mother, like daughter."
Sky, meanwhile, can see the exact moment Stella has an idea. Because she glances at them, then at Bloom, then gets a remorseful look for all of one second before loudly calling over "Your Highnesses! A pleasure to see you!" She even dips into a curtsy, clearly trying to buy some time.
Bloom spins around for a moment, and they see she's got dirt on her face and hands like she's been doing this a while. She dips into a curtsy as well, saying "Hello, Your majesties. Don't mind us, we won't be long." And then she goes back to filling a third bucket out of six.
Stella promptly abandons any and all formality right then, practically sprinting over and frantically saying "She showed up on Solaria with this idea of hers, and my father summoned me because apparently I know how to deal with her when she gets like this since I lived with her for most of a year!" The look on his face, though, was a mixture of nostalgia and sheer terror - he remembers this from his days in school, apparently, and the prospect of a second Marion is apparently terrifying.
Erendor nods his head, that's an all-too-familiar scenario that would happen back in their school days - Luna, Samara, and Niobe would regularly get called in as cavalry to try and reign Marion in.
Diaspro wrinkles her nose, asking "What's she even doing?" She's a princess, not a peasant, so Diaspro has no idea whatsoever why she's digging in the dirt like one.
Stella shrugs helplessly, saying "I don't know, alright?! I've legitimately got no idea what she wants this much dirt for - something about an experiment, she said, something to do with plan-"
"Wait a minute...bloody buggering fuck. Hold up."
Bloom straightens up like she's just had an epiphany, and Stella mutters "Oh no…"
Erendor starts quietly backing away at this point, hoping to the Dragon and back that she doesn't notice him - because he needs a drink, he needs a strong drink after this bombardment of Marion from her near-perfect replica of a daughter.
Bloom's gaze lands squarely on Stella, and she asks "Stella? There wouldn't happen to be magic in…I don't know, the sunlight? Or the air?"
Diaspro, clearly not understanding just what can of worms she's about to blow up, says "Uh, yeah. Along with the water. Why?"
Stella groans audibly, then pastes a smile on her face to try and talk Bloom out of whatever she's thinking…right up until Bloom starts thinking, lips and fingers twitching as she does a lot of mental math. "Oh no, nonono, Bloom-"
"We're going to need a lot more dirt, Stella."
Stella swallows - even as Erendor quietly whispers to Sky and Diaspro to back away slowly, freeze if she looks our way, don't make a sound - and nervously asks "How much as a lot more?"
Bloom takes out a notebook and starts writing in it, saying "There's eight different combinations of water, light, and earth, magical and nonmagical. There are seventeen planets in the Magical Dimension that we're going around collecting dirt from, and I was getting six buckets because we were going to test out plants from Magix, nonmagical plants from Earth, and Magical plants from earth…by my math, we're going to need, eight-hundred-"
"FLORA AND AISHA!" Stella looks like she's about to have a mental breakdown, honestly, as she says "Let's go get Flora and Aisha. Flora's a Nature Fairy, and Aisha has power over all liquids. So, let's go get them and get them up to date on…this."
Translation: let's go get Flora, so she can hopefully talk you out of this before we're collecting eight hundred buckets of dirt nonmagically.
Because Bloom wanted to do it all by hand, using as little magic as possible on the dirt itself so as not to contaminate it.
When Stella glances back over her shoulder, hoping to get Sky to distract Bloom somehow…they're already gone. The Guards, King Erendor, Sky, Diaspro…all of them.
COWARDS!
Quickly turning back to Bloom, Stella says "I'll head over to Andros while you go get Flora?"
Bloom nods, then says "Meet you back here?"
Stella nods, then disappears in a flash of light with her Staff. And then promptly fires off a text to Flora, saying 'Bloom's got a gigantic idea in her head, please help talk her out of it.' And then she takes a deep breath, dusting as much dirt off her clothes as she can, and heads into Andros' palace to hopefully secure Princess Aisha's help. And, if it helps the outgoing girl get into Alfea by getting her parents more comfortable with the idea of her being off-world…all the better.
Teredor groans when he sees the look on Princess Stella's face - he remembers that look, and it seems Bloom Fyre takes after Marion very much. A little too much, if the open desperation in Stella's expression is anything to go by.
Dear Dragon, another Marion in the Magical Dimension is a truly terrifying thought - even moreso when you consider the detail that Marion never went and killed a Coven of Witches in about an hour. Or destroyed a good section of Alfea in a rampage.
Niobe smiles, then says "Let me guess, Princess Stella. A certain red-head has an idea in her head."
Stella nods, surprise painting itself all over her face. "Actually, yes, Your Highness. How'd you know?"
Niobe chuckles fondly, saying "Marion was the exact same way. Once she got an idea in her head, nothing was going to remove it until she'd seen it to its very grave."
Stella sighs in relief, saying "That makes this a lot easier…Bloom's got some kind of idea about plants from Magix and Earth, she wants to see if they can grow in different environments."
Teredor says "But the plants in Magix are exposed to…oh. I see. That would be why you're here, I presume?"
Stella nods quickly, saying "I need Aisha's help to talk her out of this before it becomes a years-long project."
Teredor nods his head, and says "Now here's a familiar scenario. Niobe, Luna, and Samara were often called to try and reign Marion in." With little success, at that.
Niobe mutters "Usually, we ended up getting roped into her latest insanity."
Aisha pokes her head through a window right then, having been visiting with Tressa out in the garden next to ocean, and asks "Insanity? What kind?"
Stella deadpans "The kind of insanity that makes you want to scream and tear your hair out at the roots."
Aisha raises an eyebrow, then asks "Bloom?"
"Bloom."
"I'm in. What do you need?"
"Plants from Magix can't grow without magic-infused water, right?" Aisha nods her head, and Stella says "Perfect, c'mon. Bloom's talking about getting eight-hundred large buckets of dirt, and I'm pretty sure my sanity won't last through even three hundred of those."
Flora stares at Bloom in shock for a moment, but that's a moment too much as Bloom grabs her wrist and has Hedwig take them back to Eraklyon's gardens.
Stella and Aisha arrive maybe a minute later, and Flora asks "Alright, would someone like to fill me in? I didn't get much." She got told a lot, but she honestly couldn't follow most of it - Bloom was speaking rapid-fire, and Flora's really sure she missed a few key details.
Stella says "Bloom wants to see if plants from Magix can grow on Earth, and vice versa."
Flora blinks, notices Stella's expression, remembers the text Stella sent her, then says "Um, Bloom? I really hate to be the bearer of bad news when you look so interested in this…" And she does, she really does. "But plants from Magix can't survive without the magic they've grown in, it's been tried before. The dirt, the air, the water, all of it's saturated with magic to the point that any of the plants that've adapted to grow in it will die within a week if they're denied it. All the times people tried to introduce a new plant to an ecosystem or tried to grow them on another planet failed miserably because there either wasn't enough magic or far too much." Flora carefully refrains from mentioning the detail that, should it have worked, the ecosystems would've been irreparably damaged by the new, potentially-invasive plant.
If Bloom was adamant about finding a way, then she'd drop that particular bombshell on her. As it is, she doesn't want to guilt Bloom with the knowledge that her idea could well have had disastrous consequences for an entire planet.
Bloom blinks, seems to deflate a little, then murmurs "Oh. Hadn't known that…" And then Bloom tilts her head to the side, and asks "So…what if we replicated the effects exactly? Not to introduce the plants to a new ecosystem or anything, but to grow them somewhere isolated?"
Flora hums, then says "It would need to be in a carefully-controlled environment. To the point that the world outside simply ends and can't get in. And vice versa."
Bloom thinks for a moment, then asks "What about a sealed Greenhouse? I can Ward it so that no plant matter can get in or out, among other things." The Wards would need to Vanish any and all plant matter of any kind - leaves, roots, pollen, anything - when someone enters and leaves...but it's perfectly possible. St. Mungo's has a Ward already created for that for each room in several of the Wards there. Plus, she has a Warding Mastery.
Aisha says "Well, Stella, Flora, and I would need to find the exact right mix of magic to use, and that's at least next year." At their questioning looks, she adds "They homeschooled me this last year, but after your…demonstration the one and only time I was at Alfea…if I'm rooming with you, I think they'll let me go." The detail that she left minutes after waking up from what should've been a week-long sleep, was gone for about an hour, and brought back her sister. Along with the news she'd killed the top Coven at Cloud Tower. The risk of the lot of them getting attacked for the royals in the group - especially Bloom - versus the detail that Bloom is particularly deadly even when she's perfectly calm…she figures she can swing her parents with that alone. She might need Bloom to give a small demonstration, though.
After a moment, Bloom asks "What if we make a greenhouse or two now, and work all the magic later?" If they can make the structure, Bloom could work on the warding bit on her own. Flora, Stella, Aisha, and potentially herself can figure out the magical saturation bit sometime next year.
Then Bloom takes them to Potter Hall - it doesn't particularly dazzle the other two Princesses, but they all agree that it is a very nice home and very well-decorated. And then they get invited to Longbottom Manor after Bloom calls Neville, Hedwig takes them there, they find him just coming in from his Garden, and Stella grins and asks "Oh, is this the Draco you were pining over for so long?"
Bloom rolls her eyes, saying "You're a hopeless romantic, Stella. You know that, right? And, no, this would be Neville Longbottom. Herbology genius of our year at Hogwarts. And a very good friend of mine."
Flora leans forward eagerly, and asks "Really? Want to compare notes? I'm Flora, by the way. Fairy of Nature."
Neville blinks, blushes slightly, and stammers out a greeting. And then says they have more than enough room for a greenhouse or two, if they want to build them at Longbottom Manor. And, if Bloom gets a beaming smile, which quickly turns to a shite-eating grin after a moment…well, nobody else saw it. Oh, this is either going to be fun to watch, or just painful. Only one way to find out…
She honestly should've figured Neville would have at least a small crush on Flora - she's told him enough about her garden in their dorm room, after all.
As they're finishing up the plans for the Greenhouses - three, one for Magix City, one for Linphea, and one for Earth - Bloom casually says "You know, Stella, I was going to suggest we go shopping after all this is done. But, you seem ready to head back to Solaria and get a Manicure..."
Stella's head snaps over at once, and Aisha snickers behind her hand. "Come again, Bloom?"
Bloom nods her head, keeping herself from grinning as she says "Yeah, see, I ran into Bill Weasley when I was over at the Ministry," not a lie, he was her Curse-Breaker Tester, "and he said he and Fleur Delacour are getting married in a few months. I asked if it was alright if I brought some friends, and he said to bring anyone I wanted, the more the merrier."
Stella squeals, and says "Father isn't expecting me back for a while, you know. This is for a wedding?"
Bloom nods, and asks "You remember when I told you girls about Ron and Hermione?" At Stella and Flora's nods, Bloom says "Well, Bill is Ron's oldest brother. He's getting married to one Fleur Delacour soon, and asked if I would come. Between Ron and the Twins, most of Nev and I's year in Gryffindor will probably be there...so I figured I'd invite you girls along."
Bloom winks at Neville mischievously, and adds "But, I'd understand completely if-" Stella spins her around, and finally sees the teasing grin on her face.
"You were joking?!"
Bloom laughs, and says "About the wedding? Never, Bill's a Weasley and the Weasleys are like another family to me. About you not wanting to go shopping? Yes, absolutely."
AN: Hey, everyone! I know, this one took forever - I actually have a reason, before you come looking for me with torches and pitchforks. I was trying to write out the experiment in a way that didn't either take up an actual hour of reading or just devolve into nothingness. Eventually, I came up with this - basically nuking the project altogether with a...genetic(?) dependency on Nature, Light, and Water Magic. And, yeah, none of that's going to be on Earth - to poke a little fun at a review I got, life's not gonna find a way this time.
Think Lysine deficiency for the Jurassic Park dinos...but there's no Lysine to be found anywhere. ;)
Anyway, enjoy! More updates coming soon!
*Edit, it was Lysine.*
