A WIZARD IN STARS HOLLOW

CHAPTER FIVE: WHEN HARRY TELLS THE TRUTH

Harry told Rory and Lorelai his whole story starting at when Voldemort killed his parents and tried to kill him all the way to the present. Rory and Lorelai listened to his story and didn't speak until he was finished. "That's some story." Lorelai said. "How do we know you're telling the truth?"

"With this." Harry said and pulled out a small metal bowl. He drew his wand and said, "Engorgio!" The bowl grew until it was normal size and he set it on the coffee table. Harry pulled out a small bottle and poured it into the bowl. "This is a Pensieve. It lets me watch my memories if I'm confused about something. Look into it and you'll see my memories." The Gilmore girls pressed their faces into the Pensieve and felt themselves being pulled into the bowl. Harry joined them to watch their reactions as they watched everything that happened in Harry's life. When the memories were over, they returned to the living room. "Believe me, now?"

"Yeah," said Rory. "I'm sorry I got mad."

"I'm sorry I lied." Harry said and gave her a quick hug. "Now, the problem I have is that I'm supposed to be looking for objects that Voldemort put his soul in. So far I know one of them is a locket." He pulled out the fake Horcrux he and Dumbledore went to get a few weeks ago. "You haven't seen something like this, have you?"

"No, sorry," said Lorelai. "I haven't."

"That's okay. I'll probably end up having to find them sometime in the future before things get too far out of hand back home." He looked at Rory and said, "In the meantime...I need to get a few things done magically." He pulled out his wand and went outside. "These charms I'm about to cast will protect you from people like the man you encountered earlier." He walked around the house muttering spells. "Salvio Hexia...Protego Totalum...Cave Inimicum..." As he spoke the incantations, Rory and Lorelai noticed a slight haze around their home.

"Are you sure those are needed?" Lorelai asked.

"I was planning on putting up a Fidelius Charm and even an Intruder Charm, but the Fidelius is very complex and I...I don't know how to cast it." Harry said rather sheepishly. "The Intruder Charm is basically like a security system. Maybe if I put that up with a Catterwauling Charm, at least we'll know if a Death Eater were here..."

"Harry," said Rory putting a hand on his, "you've done so much for both of us and we thank you for it, but you don't have to go through all the trouble of protecting us."

"I get that you two are independent," said Harry, "but how are you supposed to defend yourself against a wizard, especially Dark ones? Even if you shoot one with a gun, they'll deflect the bullets or turn them into something harmless and then kill you with their own wand."

"Okay, okay, we get it." Rory said bitterly. "I guess you're right."

"Look," said Harry frustrated, "I wasn't trying to sound rude or anything. I just wnat to make sure you're okay. After tonight...I can't let anything else happen to you two. There's no doubt Lucius will tell Voldemort that I'm here in Stars Hollow, so there's a good chance we'll end up meeting him or some other Death Eaters before I go on my Horcrux hunt later on."

"You're actually going to do that?" Lorelai asked. "But that's very dangerous! You could get yourself killed!"

"I ALREADY HAVE A HUNDRED-THOUSAND GALLEON BOUNTY ON MY HEAD!" Harry shouted making the Gilmore girls jump. "IF I'M FOUND BY A DEATH EATER, I'M DEAD!" Harry calmed down, feeling like he was in fifth year all over again. "I'm sorry. Just very frustrated. I'm sure you remember seeing Professor Dumbledore telling me that I have to destroy those Horcruxes in order to kill Voldemort?" The girls nodded. "Well nobody else but me can do it. I'd say I have a few more weeks before I can even get to do all that."

"So you're just staying until you go to destroy those things?" Rory asked sadly. Harry shrugged. "I can't believe you!" she ran to her room and slammed the door, sobbing silently.

"What's wrong with her?" Harry asked curiously.

"Ever since you came into our lives you're all she talks about." Lorelai told him. "She likes you."

"I like her, too," he said not getting the point of what she was saying. "I mean, she's a great person and really understands me. Sure, she's been acting a little odd toward me lately, but..." It finally hit him. "Oh, damn!"

"It finally hit you, didn't it?" Lorelai said sitting down.

"To be honest, she's not the first girl to fall hard for me." Harry admitted. "In my second year, my friend's sister had a huge crush on me for years until I finally asked her out, but I broke up with her to protect her. Now I have another girl who has a crush on me and...what do I do?"

"Talk to her." Lorelai said simply. "Just go in there and talk to her." She glared at Harry hard and added, "Just don't break her heart or I will hurt you."

Harry stood up with a nod and walked to Rory's door and knocked. He could hear silence in the room and slowly opened the door. "Hey," he said. "I'm sorry. I didn't know you felt that way for me."

Rory sat up in bed, her eyes red from crying. "I didn't, either, until earlier when Grandpa mentioned we'd make a great couple," she said with a sniffle. "Harry, you're a very nice guy and I really want to try this. I want something long-term and, hopefully, we can work this out."

"I would say let's wait until after I kill Voldemort," said Harry, "but I'm really not sure when that will happen, so if you really want to do something somtime, I can't say no." He chuckled and added, "Well, not to you, anyway." He sat on the edge of her bed and took her hand. "I didn't expect to find someone who cares so much about me and I, them. Rory, you are a very special girl and I couldn't imagine not having you around. Trust me, I don't say that very often. Not many girls wanted to have me back home. Those who did only liked me because I was famous or had some bloody title like 'Boy-Who-Lived' or 'Chosen One'. It was maddening."

"When you said you were leaving after a couple weeks, my heart broke." Rory admitted. "I thought I was losing someone that's like family all because of a wizard who tried to kill him numerous times."

"You know, your mum told me you had a birthday not long ago." Harry said reaching into his rucksack. "Here." He handed her a book titled A History of Magic, which she took instantly. "This is our magical history textbook for History of Magic class. I won't be needing it this coming year. You can read it if you'd like. It'll teach you all about the Wizarding World and," he brought out another book called Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, "this is a book on all magical creatures." She flipped through the pages of the book and smiled. "I want to show you one that might interest you." He turned a page or two in the H section and showed her. "This is a hippogriff. You saw it in my memory that I rode one thanks to Hagrid, right?" She nodded laughing a little. "Yeah, that was not what I expected."

"All you were expecting to do was pet it," said Rory laughing, "but Hagrid let you ride him?"

"Yeah, well, if I didn't ride Buckbeak, I wouldn't have saved my godfather, then." Harry reminded her. She rested her head on his shoulder. "How about you get some sleep?" Before she could fall asleep, he handed her a small bottle. "Take this. It's called a Dreamless Sleep Potion. It'll make you fall asleep and you'll feel fully refreshed in the morning."

"I start Chilton in the morning." Rory reminded him. "Are you going to wish me good luck?"

"Good luck," he whispered as, after she drank the potion, she drifted off to sleep. He went back to the living room and said, "She'll be fine. She's sleeping now, thanks to a Dreamless Sleep Potion I gave her so she won't have nightmares tonight about what happened. If she has any problems at school, have her call me."

"Oh, she won't," said Lorelai. "I'm going in with her tomorrow to meet the headmaster. Didn't you say you were planning on trying out Chilton, too?"

"Maybe later on this week or so." Harry said. "Right now, I don't want to plan anything too far ahead." Lorelai grinned and Harry went outside to Disapparate to the inn and went to his room to get some rest himself. As he lay down in the bed, he thought about what Rory said about her feelings for him. "I've only been here for two weeks and she's already got a crush on me? Blimey, I must really be lucky." He laughed and went to sleep.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Thank you all for your reviews on the story so far. I know some of this seems a little rushed or out of sorts sometimes, but that's just how my brain works sometimes. I like putting in twists to make the readers on their toes. Anyway, here's a little list of what's to come in the next chapters and what they'll cover.

Chapters 1-10: Season One

Chapters 11-20: Season 2

Chapters 21-30: Season 3

Chapters 31-40: Season 4

Hopefully this story will make it that far. I believe I have the whole final battle with Voldemort coming in between Chapters 10 through 20, so be on the lookout for that. Have fun and happy reading!
