13 BBY

Heavy breathing vibrated through the chrome walls. The sound of rustling sheets accompanied as the breaths became more frantic.

Darth Vader thrust into the woman underneath him. He felt nothing as he selfishly pounded into his mostly clothed bed partner. He was close and pushed in deeper to into his partner.

The woman's hands started to make their way to his shoulders.

"No!" He growled. Then felt his climax as the words came out of his mouth. His eyes remained stoic as the last of his seed spilled into the woman. He pulled out and pulled up his pants. The woman followed suit and stood by the door waiting for her orders.

Vader quickly put his cape and mask on, almost completely unaffected by what had just happened in that room.

He looked at the officer. Her brown hair was slightly ruffled, her uniform was slightly wrinkled, and her brown eyes were slightly tingled with the tryst that just took place.

"This never happened," He saw her eyes go glassy as the force gripped her mind. "You will go back to your quarters and freshen up. Then you will report to your post. You will act as nothing happened." He heard her blank replied and left the room.

He waited another twenty minutes until he left and went back to his private wing of his ship. He didn't allow himself to say a thing to anyone as he made his way to his room. He carelessly tossed all his clothing on the floor.

Vader than turned his shower on the coldest setting and wept.

It started with an itch that needed to be scratch, now it was becoming an addiction.

The mindless fucks never satisfied him. It only helped with easing the tension in his body the way the force never could. Though it left him feeling empty every time. Feeling the cold water in his bones, he put it on warmer and went on to cleanse his body of his recent fuck.

He stayed in the shower longer than usual, he had to get his composure. He had another meeting tonight.

An important one.

The Sith Lord got out of the shower shortly after. Then dried his hair and body quickly. He dressed in a fresh uniform, put his gloves on, and the mask was on hand. It was in its usual spot in the closet. Before he put his mask on, he called his droid who was going into power down mode.

"Fourpio, I request that you stay up until I come back from my meeting." He commanded in a soft voice. He only did this when it was late at night.

When he knew that it was later than he normally worked.

"Yes, Master Vader. Any important instructions?"

"No. Watch the children." He said softly. The silver droid nodded, then the dark lord put his mask on and quickly made his way to his destination.

In a secluded meeting room on the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Garrett. A Lieutenant in his early thirties waited patiently for his commanding officer. He looked at the chrome in the lifeless room as he got lost in his thoughts.

Firmus Piett had come from Axxila an Outer Rim planet. He had better, faster and smarter than his competition to escape the life laid out for him. When he finally made out of the military academy the republic had collapsed. His Military career nearly ended. Though, It didn't last long until new recruits were starting to be hired for the Imperial Navy. Piett was settling into his new position when he suddenly got a special assignment from his commanding officer.

He was proud and excited at the prospect of heading his own reconnaissance team. Though the young lieutenant was confused when he saw his targets the first day of surveillance.

The two princesses of Alderaan.

The young officer knew that he was under orders from his commanding officer and did what he was asked. Nearly two months after he started his surveillance, he got word from his commander to show his findings. Again he didn't realize that he was presenting said information to Darth Vader himself.

Since then his team had work tireless for any answers the commander of the Imperial Navy demanded. Firmus had respect and fear for the Sith Lord, as a military leader. Though what was most surprising was what Starkiller was and Lord Vader reacted to it. The young lieutenant had not said a word as his Oath swore him to.

But the happiness and tenderness that child had shown to Sith Lord still baffled him. Though it started to make a little more sense to the lieutenant why he was observing the two princesses.

The loud hissing of the doors in front of him drew him out of his thoughts as he stood up in respect as the imposing figure of Darth Vader makes his entrance.

"At ease Lieutenant." Said The Sith Lord.

Darth Vader was perturbed by the feeling he had any time thought about Alderaan. It brought him back to that feeling he had when he nearly ended Bail Organa's life.

"Do you have the documents I request?" The Sith Lord said in a booming voice.

"Yes, Sir." Lieutenant Piett answered. He passed the file to his commanding officer.

The Lieutenant obtained a copy of the girls birth certificates. The first girl Winter was born on Alderaan during the sixth month on the Galactic Standard Calendar. Her Midi-Chlorian count was low and the mother listed on the certificate Sheltay Retrac. The Sith Lord remembered she was one of the senator's aids who rescued Jedi Master Shaak Ti from the gaols of Metalorn. Her adoption was finalized shortly before the ascension Empire. The Sith lord perused the rest of her file knowing that she wasn't the one he was really looking into.

The other girl though still captured the Sith Lord's attention. Leia. She was born a few days after the ascension of the Empire. She was born on the Outer Rim and there were no parents listed on the certificate, and her adoption went through shortly after. Her Midi-Chlorian count is high, but not enough to draw power from the force. Still, it felt like the force sang anytime he looked at her.

He lingered on her number a little bit longer, then he put the papers into back into the folder. Brushing those feelings away, he pressed on with more important tasks.

"I am pleased with your work Lieutenant," Piett's face hid his intrigue.

"Your record is impeccable and your skill set is nearly matched by men higher ranked than you," The Sith Lord's voice gave no emotion to his praise.

Darth Vader then continued on about Piett's accomplishments from his young military career. "Your assignment on Alderaan has ended. I am reassigning you to our new commission ship as commander of your own squadron," Vader continued, feeling the shock firing through his new commander. "I will give you a few days to finish up your reports on your findings." The Sith Lord was impressed with his blank expression, but he felt his burning shock at the promotion.

"You may speak."

"My Lord, I am honored for the promotion. But is there someone more qualified and what about my mission?" Piett said in an official manner. He knew that Darth Vader had demanded they find that place in the Alderaanian mountains and they had come up short at every time. He had obtained information about the princess at his request, but there had been no progress made with finding anything on Ara Curren.

"There are many men who used family's title and connections to make it as far as you have, but that does not mean they are qualified," Piett's face gave away no emotion. "I understand what it takes to be better than everyone else. Those qualities that could make an admiral one day," He felt the commander's shock grow at each word he was saying. "As for Alderaan, I have my other spies keeping a close eye on the planet." Piett stood still as Darth Vader took a breath before continuing his speech. "I trust that you will find your new position more fulfilling then surveillance." The new commander still had a blank expression after receiving praise from someone who was nitrous who had no patience for officer's incompetents.

"Thank you, M'lord. I am honored by the promotion." The new commander said.

"I trust that you will remember the oath you have taken. Commander."

"Yes, M'lord."

"You are dismissed." Darth Vader said with a note of finality.

The new commander saluted his superior and made his way back to his ships, knowing he had to surprised about the promotion he was going to receive.

The Sith Lord looked at Princess Leia's birthday certificate again, still with the same feeling that will not leave him. The Sith Lord let the feelings wash over him one more.

He put it down again and closed the folder. He couldn't keep chasing this. Not with his plan to overthrow the Emperor starting to roll out with the new fleet being built.

He will keep an eye on them, but the surveillance was going to be pulled. Vader couldn't be distracted by those girls or what is happening on Alderaan.

Darth Vader left the room to walk with purpose toward the family who was going to have his attention.

A few weeks later, nearing the end of his school day, Luke sat at his desk and his mind started to wander.

The little force user was excited. For the first time in five months, they were going to their apartment on Coruscant. He loved space, but there was only so much he could get away with on the ship. The six-year-old felt like he had more freedom planetside. Mara was excited too.

Luke was also happy because his daddy seems to be around more when they are on Coruscant. He is a little more cranky, but Luke is happy he is around more.

"Luke I am not going to ask you again. Pay Attention!" He snapped out of his daze. And faced his history instructor who had an annoyed look on his face.

"Sorry won't happen again," Luke said. He was focused for the rest of his lesson about the Republic. About thirty minutes later, his instructor dismissed him and Luke made a beeline for the door. With Nova and Mara, he made his way back to the family wing.

The children made dropped their school books on their way to the kitchen.

"Luke, Mara remember what your father said about throwing your books on the floor." Nova said with authority in her voice. She was strict when it came to keeping order in the wing, but not too scary.

"But Nova we're hungry." Luke whined.

"I know, C-4P0 is making you and your sister snacks. Please pick your books and notebooks." She said with a note of finality. He may be a prince but his father wanted Luke to value hard work. The children had privileges but Nova and Vader did not let things leaving small messes or talking back slide.

Vader knew Padmé wouldn't have tolerated that kind of behavior.

Luke let out an annoyed gruff, picked his stuff, then made it to his room. He tossed the things on his bed and went to the dining area. He saw his favorite snack and felt his troubles of the day melt away.

A few hours later the small family was around the table enjoying a late dinner.

"Dad," Luke started.

"Yes," Vader answered as he finished cutting up Mara's food.

"Why do I hav to lern bout the rebubic, its so boring." Luke said in between bites of his dinner. Vader smiled, he was always questioning, always wanting to learn.

"Because we must learn from the past so we don't keep making the same mistakes in our future. The republic was flawed, the senators were corrupted. You are going to rule one day, and this knowledge will help you." Vader said as Luke rolled his eyes.

Vader decided to let it go… for now.

The rest of the dinner passed, Luke and Mara chatted on while Vader offered his encouragement to them. It was a school night so the little family watched their favorite Holonet program. After, the family started their nightly routine. Vader put Luke to bed and finished up putting Mara to bed.

It was an hour later when he disrobed and put his sleep ware. Next, he brushed his teeth and went to his meditation room.

He went to the center of the good sized room and sat down. He tried to clear his mind. Mediation was something that never came easy to him. But the skill was a necessity for him to clear his mind, especially when he knew he had to go back Coruscant.

Being on Coruscant means he has to babysit the Senate, and weed through those rebel fools.

Worst of all, now it means he has to give Luke an answer about the Darklighers.

Vader thought having Mara would curb Luke's need to be around other children. But of course Luke was determined to get his way.

The Sith Lord started to breathe deeply as he emptied all his thoughts and emotions. Somehow Lord Vader had managed to get a solid twenty minutes before finally came to a decision.

Vader finally more relaxed made his way to the fresher to finish his night time routine. He had only a couple hours until they reached Coruscant.

o-o-o

The cleaning droids finished up cleaning the last of the rooms and the other droids stacked the kitchen. The doors open with the small family coming through with C-4PO behind. Luke made his way to his room and Mara followed suit.

When night time came and Vader put Mara to sleep, he went to Luke's room. Luke felt his father approaching him and turned around to greet him with a smile.

"Daddy!" Luke turned around and ran to give his dad a hug. With the craziness of the day he barely got to see his father.

"Time for bed little one." Vader said with a smile. He heard Luke stiffen and pull back.

"I'm not ittle," Luke said as he tried to mimic his father's intimidating stance. "I am six." He had a determined gleam in his eye as he said it.

Vader smiled and shrunk down to Luke's level. "I see that, but even if were are on Coruscant now, you still have lessons tomorrow," Luke made a sour face to the statement. "I know your friend wouldn't want you to be tired if you want to have a playdate with him." Vader watched his son's face light up as he processed what his father was saying.

"Really dad?" Luke said excitedly.

"Yes, but like everything else, there are rules that need to be followed," Vader said in his serious voice. The one Luke knew he had to listen to. "We will talk about more in the morning. Now it's time for bed." Luke signed again and made his way into his black bed. Vader followed his son and tucked him in.

The next day, Luke went to his lessons waiting with excitement. His dad that morning told him to do these weird things and he also had to wear this bracelet.

Nova took him to the streets of the city in the shadows of skyscrapers. Nova told him that the Darklighter's were part of the planet's blue-collar working population. They sped past in the various housing blocks of the surface structures until they pulled to the Darkligher's house.

Luke looked at the house and wondered why it was small. The six-year-old stepped on the path to the front door and held Nova's hand full of nerves. It was the first time Luke would be away from Nova and his father. Coupled with all the rules he had to follow.

"Luke," The blond force user looked up at his caretaker before they went up to the few steps to the front door.

"I just want you to have fun and follow the rules, can you do that for me?" Nova's thoughtful eyes.

"Ok. I will follow the rules." Luke said in a small voice trying to hide his nerves. The door opens and Luke is greeted by the smiles of Huff and Satra Darklighter.

"Hello, Mrs. Auqom," Nova kept a straight face at the Mrs. part. "I can see that young Luke here is excited to see Biggs here." Said Huff as Luke crossed the opening to the house.

"Please just call me Nova," She returned the smile. "Now I have everything in there just in case of an emergency," She handed Satra the Holo pad. "I will be back at 1600." She said to Luke.

"Ok," Luke said as Biggs dragged him in the direction of his room.

The young caretaker smiled as she heard laughter fill the house. "I will be here at 1600 hrs., It was nice to meet you both." The blonde gave a nod as she walked out of the house to her speeder and looked ahead. Nova saw a dark unmarked vehicle a gave a small smile. She knew Vader would pull out extra security.

In the Biggs, household the two boys started playing with the Starfighters Biggs had. Luke noticed immediately the differences between his room and Bigg's room.

It was smaller, Luke could find the way around it a few time instead of the many in own his room. His friend had a least five starfighters the looked worn from the many uses, while Luke had at least ten in pristine condition. Bigg's bed was small, almost as small as his sister's bed. After a while Bigg's mom took them to the kitchen it was a shorter walk then in his own house, brighter with more tones and pictures too.

When they made it to the kitchen, Luke noticed their kitchen was smaller too. But the feeling in the force was calmer, more peaceful than any other place he had ever been.

Satra put out some Bantha blue milk and sweet sand cookies on the table and Luke pushed that thought out of his mind.

"Whats your dad do?" Biggs asked as he dunked the cookie into the milk. Luke followed Biggs actions. He heisted then answered

"He is a piolet in the Imperial Navy," Luke said as he rehearsed it with his dad and Nova.

"Cool!" Biggs shouted. "Have you been flying in one?"

Luke smiled. It was his favorite thing to his father. "Yeah! It so much fun. We fly in space a lot. My sister don't like doing it." Luke finished with a tiny hint of sadness.

"I only get to see them when daddy and me go to base for his job. I wannta fly in them so bad." Bigg said excitedly. The boys went back to Biggs room and continued their game until the time Nova came to pick Luke up.

In Nova's speeder, he waved good-bye to Biggs and his family. Luke stared out the window again, he noticed the houses and towers getting bigger until they finally reached his home. He walked into the turbolift and felt the difference between him and his friend. He saw the guard and thought of Biggs house again, it was just weird all the things that were different.

It was still too early for his dad to be home so Luke went to his room, more aware of the distance. He got to his room and took his boots off. Luke also took off something his daddy made him wear when he went outside of his house. The little force user felt exhaustion creeping up so he climbed into his bed and felt another glaring difference again.

It bothered the little force user a bit. He just thought that everyone had the same life as him. Though he knew he never had a momma. Luke learned about different species, aliens, and animals had a family unit. There was always a mom and dad. It made him start to wonder who she was and why she wasn't here with him. Maybe if he closed his eyes she could see her smile…

"Master Luke, dinner is ready and Lord Vader is home." The silver droid announced before the Imperial prince's thoughts started to snowball. The silver droid waited as the little prince got up from his bed.

Walking to the dining room he saw his dad waiting. His dad had his hair short again, he was in less restricting clothes, and he was in a surprisingly good mood.

Luke felt his dad get up and smile. "Luke," His dad leaned down and gave him a hug, which he returned.

They both went to their seats and started to dig into their meals. Luke still had his booster seat, and C-4PO still pre-cut all his food. It was mostly silent until Vader started to speak.

"Did you enjoy your play date, today son," Vader said. It was his favorite term of endearment for Luke.

"It was fun. We played starfighters all day" Luke said not looking up. Vader smile turned into a frown. The Sith Lord was watching the entire time he knew that there was no reason for Luke to be sad.

Luke sensing his father's emotions changing looked up. "Why is everything so far in here?" Luke asked in his curious voice.

Darth Vader has seen many battles, challenging missions in this life and his former one as well. But none of those challenges ever prepared him for the logic of young children.

"What do you me Luke?" The Sith Lord asked.

Let guessing game began.

Luke looked up more confident. "The home and ship everything is far. My room far, Mara room far even yous is."

Darth Vader then started to chuckle starting to understand what he meant. "Do you mean big?"

"Yes. Why?" Luke asks with determination.

"Because this how we live. Does the amount of space bother you?"

"No… maybe I don't know. Biggs' house is not that far. Whys that?" Luke gave an annoyed look.

Vader looked down at his son. This was one of the things he worried about exposing his son to other children. There are going to be glaring differences between the lesser beings and his son.

It was the polar opposite of how the Sith Lord grew up.

"Luke," The little force peered up at his father.

"Biggs' parents don't make as many credits as I do." Luke still had a confused look on him. "So I don't think that Biggs' mom and dad would be able to afford something this big." Luke looked like he was satisfied with that answer. Darth Vader feeling the silence continued to eat the rest of his meal, thanking the force that he got off easy. C-4PO cleaned off the table and placed two Banta blue milkshakes on the table. Luke's eyes lit up at the desert.

Vader again smiled at his son's happiness, it was something the older force user never tired of.

Luke sipping his milkshake noticed how big the room was. How the door outside led to another place that was vast too. Again the little force user never noticed it. Luke and Mara thought it was always fun to explore. He thought everyone was like him. That is why this was so jarring to Luke and he still wanted to know why his house was so different than Biggs.

"Why does this house got to be so big?" Luke said suddenly.

The Sith lord looked his son again, and paused for a moment. Luke was being persistent was still debating to tell Luke about how he lived in squalor. How he didn't even possessions for the first nineteen years of his life. But it was not the time.

"I got this house because when I was little like you, I had a tiny place,"

"Like Biggs place?" Luke interrupted.

Vader gave Luke a warning look. "No it was much smaller," He took a breath. "I left that place a long time ago. When I knew you were coming I want to grow up in a place that was bigger, nice then where I was from,"

Vader suddenly was wafted into a memory.

Padmé stood on the balcony brushing her hair. Anakin leaned against the wall, watching her lovingly.

He took in her beautiful appearance while he leaned against the back of the wall. Padmé stood on the balcony brushing her hair. Anakin leaned against the wall, watching her lovingly.

He took in her beautiful appearance while he leaned against the back of the wall ". . . every second I was thinking of you. Protecting the endless, nameless Outer Rim settlements became a torture . . . the battles were easy, the longing became unbearable...I've never been so happy as I am at this moment." The Jedi spoke honestly.

Padmé still looking out on the city planet. She didn't want him to feel worse about their time apart. So she thought she would talk about the baby.

"Ani, I want to have our baby back home on Naboo. We could go to the lake country where no one would know…where we would be safe. I could go early-and fix up the baby's room. I know the perfect spot, right by the gardens…"

The older force user swallowed his grief and continued. "So I made sure by the time you were here I had somewhere big. I wanted the best for my son."

Our son

Luke smiled with a tiny bit of whipped cream on his nose. He then got off his chair and made his way to where his dad was. Vader turned to face his son, feeling that he wants to say something.

"I got the best daddy." Luke said as he hugged his father.

Vader smiled and felt a tear streak down his cheek.

I hope I am my son.

AN: Review, Review, Review! I want to know what you like about the story!
