Chapter 18
"There must be something in the water."
Kunzite paused for a moment listening in to his brothers-in-arms. He saw Zoisite sigh as he tied back his long, curly hair. He leaned forward on his desk with a look of fatigue. "Ami found out she is expecting and she is nearing six months along. ALMOST SIX MONTHS!"
"Congratulations!" spoke Jadeite giving his respect. "Do we know a due date?"
Zoisite gave a small smile, "We expect our newest daughter to be born around my wife's birthday."
"That's rather quick," commented Nephrite.
"Yeah well," shrugged Zoisite, "We didn't find out until a few days ago because she had no morning sickness! Of all things, it was the annual wellness check and physical that detected the pregnancy. If not for that, we both would have been in ignorant bliss that a child existed until it was time to give birth."
"Maybe all of your children will come in the later part of your life," suggested Jadeite. "Rei and I were thinking of having another kid in the near future, especially with our two teenagers getting close to leaving the house.
"Kunzite, are you excited about your new one making their appearance?" questioned Zoisite.
Their lead merely looked at this team with the same stoic nature, but only those closest to him could see the slight softening of his features. "I am."
"Have you thought of a name for him or her?"
He shrugged, "I left the naming decision to Minako since there are two of them."
"Two?"
"Congratulations!"
"Oh wow!"
"So," smirked Zoisite, "Do you think your back to your streak of having boys?"
"Yeah! How many sons do you already have? Like five? Six?" asked Nephrite.
"Or maybe he began his streak of having girls," shrugged Jadeite.
Kunzite began to pale at the thought. Sons, he wasn't so worried about because his elder ones grew up to become military leaders like he. Hikari was a little different. He could sense his son either going into palace administration or becoming a diplomat like his mother rather than becoming a foot soldier in the king's army like his father and his brothers. However, if he and his wife had two daughters that were energetic like their mother and elder sister…
"Let's hope whatever children Kunzite is having would be more mild manner like he," nodded Jadeite. "The Lord knows he needs it."
There were nods of well wishes and agreement.
Several long months later, Kunzite held one of his two children in the delivery room. His amazing wife delivered two healthy baby girls. He carried the eldest of the two who slept peacefully in his arms. His wife fed the other one who hardly woke up after wanting to eat.
It was several months later the two parents realized how easy and laid back the two baby girls really were. Both Hikari and Mina were amazing older siblings and delighted to help out in anyway possible. Sadly enough (to Kunzite), the new siblings softened up his eldest daughter to one day becoming a mother and being open to meeting cute young men as a potential marriage partners.
Kunzite wasn't ready for that conversation nor life stage quite yet.
