Chapter 19
"How on earth are you so calm and collected with our twins?" questioned Minako, extremely flustered and beyond exhaustion. She had very interrupted to no sleep for the past several weeks waking up to feed the baby girls at all hours of the days. Regardless if one child became upset, the other would start crying too until both were taken care of and soothed.
Kunzite remained silent as he quietly rocked one to sleep as his wife took the other, a little delirious too at this point. As sad as it sounded, this time around was not as challenging as his twin sons. They were much more spirited than his new-born daughters. He gave a small smile to his wife as the two children quieted their cries and were rocked back to sleep. "I've had practice."
When realization hit the former senshi, Minako started feeling guilty as she remembered their first set of twins were all but dumped into Kunzite's care. During the Shittenou's exile, their relationship could not be exposed in any way, even if they had been married centuries prior. "I feel terrible now," she sadly admitted, "I'm sure it was nearly impossible to care for our first set of twins by yourself."
It was challenging thought the father as he continued to rock the babe in his arms before placing the sleeping child into the crib. "Zoi helped me out."
"Oh, bless that man," sighed Minako in relief, "I hope he's able to have plenty of children after his kindness to you and our family when I wasn't allowed to live with you." She glanced at the child in her arms and sighed in relief when she saw the baby finally asleep. The two girls were placed next to each other, one reaching their hand out to the other while keeping their eyes closed and holding that hands as they rested peacefully. The parents learned rather quickly this helped keep the children content and sleeping for at least three hours.
It melted Minako's heart. She hugged and kissed her husband, "I'm taking a nap while they sleep." The Shittenou nodded his head knowing that was the wisest thing to do. Both were still on Maternity and Paternity leave from their work and taking every moment they could to nurture a loving bond with their new children.
