Chapter 9: The Ascension

Cardivance firehouse, 3 hours into apocalypse

"Do you think there's enough room in the car for all of us?" Asked the white haired atlesian woman as she approached Ecto 1.

"It should," Yang said, stroking her hand on the hood, "This beauty can hold three in the front, two to three in the middle, and two in the back."

"Not to mention the equipment," Yale added, "I'm driving by the way."

Yang looked at her son, she could tell he was serious about his statement.

"Excuse me?" she asked.

"Hey, you may have bought her, but I took the time and effort to fix and repair her." he replied, getting into the driver's side.

Yang opened her mouth, however, she couldn't argue with that point. While she did buy and paint Ecto 1, her son worked hard making sure the car was in working condition, especially since the crew was almost on the road non stop for five days. She closed her mouth back up and got into the front middle from the passenger's side. Weiss followed in, sat down and shut the door.

Redhood looked at her mother, looking concerned. Ruby looked worried, but brave.

"What is it mom?" Redhood asked her mother.

Ruby looked to her daughter. While her daughter did gain confidence from Walter, she did always lose her confidence whenever her mother was feeling sad or scared.

"Sorry," she replied," It's just the last time I ran over to a tower to save the world, a good friend of mine died at the top.

"Let me guess, you don't want me to end up like her either?"

"No," Ruby said, grabbing Redhood's shoulders, "I don't want you to end up like pyrrha."

Rose looked at her mother with a smile.

"Didn't you say that it's up to people like us to take on the responsibilities of our powers?" she asked, keeping her smile.

"Yes, but…"

"But nothing," Redhood replied, removing her mother's hands off her shoulders, "I get you're scared, the same way you were scared to tell me about dad."

Ruby looked down, feeling ashamed.

"But if dad did something right, it was giving me advice from the things he gifted me."

Ruby looked back at her daughter, confused. What did she mean?

"The comics dad gave me, all the scientific and superhero stuff," she said, " He gave them because of the lessons some of those heroes go through."

Redhood placed her right hand on her mother's arm, still keeping her smile. Her mother looked at Rose's hand then at her daughter again.

"In one of those comics, the uncle of the hero said that "With great power comes great responsibility," Redhood said, " What's so different now?"

Ruby began to smile a little, then started chuckling and tearing up.

"You know, your father's been dead for nearly 11 years now," she said, still chuckling, "And not a day goes by that I don't miss him."

The two silver eyed leaders nodded and entered the middle back of the car. Brg and Walter entered the back of Ecto 1. Blake entered the middle of the car, beginning to get a few unsettling flashbacks to the last time she was in a world ending crisis. She shook her head, she knew that she couldn't focus on the past right now, she and everyone else in the car had a mission to do, she wasn't gonna let her past dictate what her actions were now. She shut the door and strapped in.

Yale started up Ecto 1, grinning when he heard the engine.

"You're all gonna love this." she said, flipping a switch on the console.

The four ghostbusters smirked when they heard Ecto 1's siren. The other three adults gave a look of confusion to the blonde ghostbuster, Yang on the other hand grinned and rolled her eyes. Ecto 1 darted out the firehouse. Next stop, The Amity tower.

Amity tower, 3 hours into apocalypse

Winter stared up at the looming tower, worried about this plan the ghostbusters had. Even though the ghostbusters reassured the white haired military captain that their plan should work, the swirling shadowy cloud vortex atop the tower made it difficult to believe them.

"Is it really a good idea to trust these children?" Marova asked, her eyebrows pointing down.

"What choice do we have?" Winter asked back," They're the only ones who are even crazy enough to even try to pull this shit off!"

"And yet it's them who just, somehow miraculously, predicted how the world would end," Marova exclaimed, "If you ask me, it's highly suspicious."

Winter's worry turned to anger. Though little, Winters' anger took over her words.

"Are you suggesting that my nephew, My sister's son, made this happen on purpose?!"

"You must admit, their prediction about this event was fairly… specific."

"Look here lieutenant, If you think that for one minute that I will believe another word from you, I will strip you of your rank and send you to your father in tears and disgrace!" Winter snapped.

Marova looked at her superior officer with a stern frown. While she knew that Winter couldn't go through with her threat from a military level due to the circumstances, She would definitely go through with it on a personal level.

Both heads turned as they heard Ecto 1 rushing over towards them.

"Let's keep this between us, this isn't over, Ironwood." Winter said, huffing over towards the barricade.

The soldiers and captain opened the barricade, looking over at the sci-fi looking hearse. Ecto 1 began slowing down as they arrived at the barrier. The vehicle stopped in front of the captain, rolling the window down to reveal the blonde haired Ghostbuster.

"Someone called the exterminators?" Yale joked.

"Oh knock it off Yale, this is serious." Rose replied.

Both Ghostbusters and team RWBY exit the vehicle and strap on the proton packs. Blake looked up to see what only could be described as hell breaking loose.

"Dear God, I hope you kids know what you're doing…"

"Do we even know what they're doing?" Weiss asked the adult faunus.

Ruby placed her hand on the white haired woman's shoulder.

"They're about to save the world though a suicide mission, and dragging us along for the ride."

"Wasn't it your idea for us to tag along with them in the first place?" Yang asked her younger sister.

"Hey, can we focus right now?" The younger silver eyed girl shouted.

The others looked over at the young girl, they all agreed they were getting off the point of why they were there.

"Are you sure you can stop the end of the world?" Marvoa asked the kids.

"Are you kidding me?" Walter said, "We've caught ghosts while on only 2 hours of sleep, hell, we've done that back to back without coffee or energy shots."

The three other parents looked at the white haired boy with a concerned look.

"Believe me, even I don't know how the hell they do that." Yang said, reverting the concerned looks of the others.

The eight approach the tower, looking up at the turning hellscape above them.

"Holy shit…" Yale said, looking over at the others.

"I'll say this much, we're definitely putting in some overtime on this one…" Rose said to her comrades.

Suddenly the earth began to shake violently around the eight.

"HOLY SHIT!!" Ruby screamed, as the ground began to crack and separate beneath her and the team.

Winter and Marvoa grabbed and dragged the adults away from the falling earth. The kids weren't so lucky, falling into the new hole created by the earthquake.

"KIDS!!!" Yang screamed, looking terrified by the event that happened right in front of the four.

The six could only look in horror at what had happened right before them. That was until they saw a gloved hand popping out from the hole, and then a head of a girl with silver eyes. The rest of the Ghostbusters began lifting themselves out of the hole, brushing off the dirt from the suits.

"Ok, I'll admit, that caught us off guard!" Rose said, breathing heavily from pulling herself up.

The adults helped the four and looked over at the lieutenant.

"They're really damn good at what they do, and they're really damn stubborn, they'll do what it takes…" Yang said.

The eight look at each other, and then the building again.

"Ghosts wanna play rough, let's play rough…" Walter quipped.

The Ghostbusters and the huntresses enter the tower, only to be intimidated by the large stairwell in the middle, spiraling over to the sides.

"Shit…" The silver eyed leaders said, giving a stern deadpan stare at the intimidation.

The others looked at the two, surprised at the synchronization.

"Well, like mother, like daughter…" Yang quipped.

The eight began to climb up the stairs, determined to stop hell itself.
