Ianto knew it was easier for him to take Harry on their first play date rather than Molly come to him with the huge household she was trying to control so it was with no small amount of excitement from the little man that he apparated them both into Molly's living room and then blinked with shock as Harry exploded from his grip to yell loudly.
Ronnie did the same, leaping at him so they became a tangled mess of limbs on the ground as they wrestled, hugged and laughed.
"I told Ron that he was getting a friend visiting and when I said it was Harry he went mad. They met at the pre-school ya know. Already friends of sorts … so nice to see him happy. Ron is such a … shy boy. Living with all these big loud boys, it made him sort of… cringey" she sighed.
With a flourish of his wrist, Ianto pulled some flowers out of the air to present and she gasped, her hands going to her throat as she stared a the huge bouquet "Oh my. I … I never get flowers. Oh … oh … I … I don't know what to call you … oh… I need a vase… they are gorgeous. Snapping dragons … awwww… my favourites! Oh gosh. Arthur does try but… he never remembers the right ones. Oh my goodness. I am blushing now!"
"Ianto. Just Ianto is fine Molly love" Ianto chose a chair and settled into it, watching her fuss over the flowers. She knew his mum. They were in the same classes, as were James and Lily.
She knew who Harry was.
The door opened and Arthur walked in, stopping to watch his wife with the huge bunch of little snapping dragon flowers, the occasional puff of smoke from one quite impressive "My goodness … where on earth did those come from Mol?"
"Hello Arthur. Remember me?"
Arthur swung to find Ianto in the chair and he blinked, and then frowned "Ah… James's brother? My goodness. Little Ianto… look at you. You've grown quite…. Tall."
Ianto rose from the chair and extended his hand to greet the man whose house he was in and Ianto smiled. A loud scream had them all spinning in time to see Fred flying down the middle of the staircase with a look of glee and horror, the serving tray he had decided on as a makeshift sled proving a little too slippery. Ianto flicked a finger and the entire thing froze, George running underneath it… rushing past then turning to gape.
Ianto let it lower gently to the floor as Harry and Ron demanded a go of the enchanted item.
Ianto simply swept them off the top step to scream as they whooshed along at break-neck speed only to stop in front to him, then he lowered them gracefully to their feet "Now then… if he jumped off a cliff would you too?"
"Yep" they said together impishly.
Ianto laughed "Beasts.. go on. Quieter play please, I am speaking with mister and missus Weasley sweetheart."
"Yes Tadda" Harry demanded impulsively hugging him then taking off "come on Ron. I wanna see your pet rat!"
"Oh god" Ianto muttered, then called out louder "NO WE ARE NOT GETTING A RAT! YOUR FATHER HATES THEM ALMOST AS MUCH AS SPIDERS!"
Ianto turned to smile and then a scream of mental laugher came down the stairs and Ianto rolled his eyes "that is likely my child re-enacting his father's response to a spider. I swear to god, one day he will shoot a hole in my floor."
"I am not a fan of them either" Arthur admitted as he settled "Now then let me see. Young Ianto, look at you. Wow. I heard Severus was a little more uptight these days, should have guessed it was you. He really had a thing for…"
"Ah. I am married to a wonderful man… a muggle."
"Oh dear. Same sex AND a muggle. What does the ministry have to say on that?" Arthur laughed, "Probably swallowed their wands."
"No… but I almost instated them where the sun doesn't shine for their initial… how shall I say… rude comments. I educated them" Ianto replied with a sniff, then beamed as Molly offered him a little plate of lollies.
"Here, before the horde come for their snacks. I seem to remember James kept some in his pocket for you" she smiled.
"Yes. The red ones. I like the red ones" Ianto sighed as he plucked tow out and popped one in his mouth then moaned with delight.
"Hells Fire!" a strapping teenager blasted into the house and was complaining "That bloody broom is malfunctioning again. I swear to the gods I will fire it into the great abyss one day… oh. Sorry. Company."
"Bill, we have Mister Jones here with his little man… Harry. You remember James and Lilly? Ianto here is James's brother."
The young man stared at Ianto long and hard then said softly "Blimey. The Lord of Light in me mam's kitchen like it's no big deal."
"It is no big deal. I know your mother from school" Ianto replied and then grinned.
Arthur exploded from his chair to stare at Ianto with wide eyes "Jones… Harkness-Jones. Oh my goddess in a blue dress…. You… you're the Lord of Light."
"Just Ianto will do" Ianto said with a wave of his hand "Goodness. Just me here."
Screaming as another child flew on the makeshift sled and Ianto sighed as he disappeared it, the child landing on the floor uninjured.
Somehow, their roars of laughter overcame the disappointment of losing the toy.
Arthur sat and goggled at his guest.
They would never believe him at work.
And he was still such a nice guy too.
