Chapter 8: First Flight

Flying Class

Students from both Gryffindor and Slytherin face each other as they are lined in two rows with brooms by their side, well more like on the ground to be exact. A woman with short spiky hair and the eyes of a hawk walks down and inspects her class. "Good afternoon class" the woman said to her class. "Good afternoon Madam Hooch," the class responded. "Welcome to your first flying lesson, well what are you waiting for? Everyone step up to the left side of your broomstick" she ordered the students.

The students did as instructed, now waiting for further instructions. "Now stick your right hand over the broom and say, up" she instructed. "Up!" the students commanded their brooms, to which both Harry and Naruto managed to get it on their first try, as Hermione stared at the two. Several of the students were still trying to get their brooms up, with a couple of the Slytherin's managing to get the broom in their hands such as Daphne Greengrass and Draco Malfoy, though it seems Malfoy was rather smug about it even though he got it in his second try. "Up!" shouted Ron to his broom before his broom shoots up and hits his nose. Naruto and Harry snicker at him, "Shut up you two!" he groaned in pain.

After everyone got their brooms in their hands, Madam Hooch says "Now I want you to mount your broom and grip it tight, you don't want to be sliding off the end" the instructor explained. Naruto whispers to Harry, "that's what she said," to which Harry widens his eyes and snickers at the joke. Anyways, the class does as told, "when I blow my whistle, I want each of you to kick off from the ground, hard. Keep your broom steady, hover for a moment, and then lean forward slightly and touch back down, on my whistle…3…2…*Tweet!*" she said before blowing her whistle.

Right before they kick off, it looks like Neville flew up looking scared. Everybody was shocked at what was going on since it seems like Neville's broom has gone rogue. He flies off here and there, hitting the wall a few times. The instructor tries to stop the broom but it looks like the broom was going towards the students like a bullet. Luckily Naruto tackled Harry and Hermione before they got hurt. The rogue broom that Neville rode on was flying around the path before reaching a statue of a man holding a spear. Neville got off the broom, but his cloak was dangling on the spear before ripping off. Neville falls down, as he grabs hold of a torch but even then, he still falls down.

The instructor rushes to check on Neville to see if he has any injuries as everybody watches and cringes at what they have seen. Neville is being taken to the infirmary, but not before the instructor threatens every student with expulsion if they are seen flying their brooms without permission. As Neville is taken to the infirmary, Malfoy snickers at the scene and decides to take Neville's remembrall, though it seems one Daphne Greengrass has been watching the scene happen disapprovingly. Draco laughs "Did you see his face? Maybe if that fat lump had given this a squeeze, he'd remember to fall on his fat arse" he said as a couple of the Slytherins were laughing with him. The Gryffindor group frowned at them, Harry went up to Draco and glared at him, "Give it here Malfoy!" Harry said. On the Slytherin side, Daphne grabs Draco's shoulder and coldly says "I suggest giving the remembrall to him or else…"

Malfoy scoffs at her and tosses the ball up and down, as he looks to Harry and says "No, I think I'll leave it somewhere for Longbottom to find." Malfoy mounts his broom and takes off to the sky. "How about up on the roof?" he says as he flew higher, "What's the matter Potter? Bit beyond your reach?" Malfoy taunts.

Harry was pissed and went after him. Hermione tried to warn Harry, but it was too late as he flew off to the sky, "What an idiot!" she muttered in annoyance. Naruto observes the sky to see how the confrontation will go. As Harry and Draco were in the sky, Harry threatens Draco if he doesn't give up the item. However, it seems Draco has other plans as he dodges Harry and throws the ball as hard as he can. Harry flew off to catch the item, while the others were worried that Harry wouldn't make it. But it seems like luck was on Harry's side as he catches the ball and manages to avoid being hit by doing a spin. As everybody outside noticed that, so did Professor McGonagall who was working at the time as she noticed that feat from the other side of the window.

Harry returns to the ground with everyone from the Gryffindor group cheering him on, while some Slytherins are pretty impressed with the feat, especially one blond female Slytherin as she smirks. However the moment was soon interrupted as Professor McGonagall comes outside and calls for Harry, "Mr. Potter-" she said grabbing the boy's attention, "follow me" she states. Harry sullenly followed her, while Malfoy and his posse laughed. Naruto, pissed off, used some of the spells he learned in D.A.D.A on Malfoy and his gang, scaring the crap out of them.

Meanwhile with Harry

Harry follows Professor McGonagall to her office, but before they head to her office, they have to make a quick stop. "Wait here-" she said to Harry, as she calls for a student from Professor Quirrell's class. The student comes out of the class, who appears to be an older boy. "Potter, this is Oliver Wood. Wood, I believe I have found you a seeker!" she exclaims, surprising the older boy. Harry was confused and asked "What's a seeker?"
