Woah! It's been what? Five years since I wrote this?

I got an email notification saying that someone reviewed it, and I was like "huh, it's been a long time, I should read it!"

I read all three stories in this trilogy, and then read a comment in the reviews saying that this last chapter felt like a cop out, and I whole-heartedly agree!

So, here is a brand new ending to the trilogy!

I hope you all enjoy it.

Make sure to give it a read and review!

On the other side of the world, members of the United Nations were gathered together, discussing the threat of the merpeople that had been discovered. There was a large debate on what they were going to do about them; whether it was to leave them alone to allow them peace, or to fully destroy them. The debate began when the merpeople were exposed to the world. When they came to the conclusion of what they were going to do, it happened on the same night that the full moon would be rising above Mako Island.

"So, it's all in agreement. We will launch a missile attack upon this Mako Island where the merpeople live!"

"Launching in ten minutes!"

Down in the moon pool of Mako Island, Cleo and her friends, along with Evie, were commanded to leave the moon pool. It was decided that they should leave so that Veridia, Erik, Charlotte and Joshua could take care of Elizabeth. Joshua had wrapped his jacket around Elizabeths' bare petite body after she transformed back to her human form. In human form, Elizabeth seemed frightened and vulnerable, something that Joshua had a hard time understanding why.

"So, do you wish to be stuck this way forever?" Veridia asked Elizabeth.

Elizabeth shook her head, her eyes cast down towards the ground as she held tightly on to Joshua's jacket.

"Then you must do as I tell you to, and that is to get back in the water," Veridia said.

"But wait...won't that just make her go nuts again?" Erik asked.

"Not with the full moon rising. I will teach her to be in control of the moons power."

"You can do that?" Charlotte asked, not ever knowing that could happen.

Veridia nodded.

Elizabeth shook her head again.

"No...full moon is bad. Must stay out of it," she spoke.

Joshua cringed when he heard how frightened she was. Veridia slowly approached Elizabeth and placed a hand on her shoulder in a gentle manner.

"Have no fear. The full moon is a wonderful thing. Its power is magnificent and used for good. You must go in to it," Veridia spoke.

While they were talking, Charlotte took out her phone to check the time for when the moon would be passing over. Elizabeth caught this and she walked over to Charlotte. Extending her left hand, she focused her energy on the phone until a signal appeared!

"How did you...?" Charlotte asked in surprise.

"Needed it for when I had my phone," Elizabeth replied, shrugging her shoulders.

Charlotte shook her head and gasped. Wow...it was like Elizabeths powers had grown since they last saw her. A voicemail message appeared on her phone and she took a listen. Charlotte's face went ash white when she heard the message, then she shut her phone.

"What's wrong?" Joshua asked.

"General Leblanc left a message two hours ago. He said that The President of the United States is going to send missiles towards Mako Island. He's going to launch them in two minutes," Charlotte explained.

"They'll kill us all!" Veridia exclaimed.

"That's the plan, your highness. There must be something that we can do," Charlotte said.

Joshua shook his head.

"I don't think there is anything that we can do, except to get Elizabeth back to normal."

Elizabeth looked at him, her eyes holding a glimmer of hope.

"Back to normal?"

He nodded. Elizabeth looked up and saw the light of the full moon coming their way. The moon pool water began to bubble.

"No…" She shook her head and backed away from it. "Not yet…"

"What do you mean, not yet? Elizabeth, there's no time! The government is going to destroy everything!" Joshua loudly exclaimed.

Seeing the hesitancy of the young woman, Veridia turned to the merpeople in the moon pool.

"Get out of there, all of you, now!" She ordered.

Orders were obeyed swiftly and mermaids and mermen alike began hauling themselves out of the pool and on to dry land.

"Joshua…" Charlotte turned to him. "All the merpeople are here...and us. The missiles are on their way. Do you know what this means?"

Joshua had a grave and solemn look on his face. He did know what it meant. He took Charlottes' hand in to his own and he looked in to her eyes.

"It's been a pleasure working with you," He said.

A few tears streamed down Charlottes' face.

"Yeah...it's been great working with you too.

"No… this won't happen…" Elizabeth uttered, and she walked over to the edge of the moon pool.

She refused to dive in; something was holding her back. However, a much stronger power overwhelmed her as she stared at the water in the moon pool.

Throwing out both her hands, she split the water in the moon pool, then she jumped down and walked along the sea ground; the sand squished between her toes as she walked along the path she kept creating while parting the waters.

Staring up in to the dark sky, she honed in to her heightened hearing powers to hear the whistling of the missiles as they approached.

Clenching her jaw tight as every power inside her, both feline and mermaid, rose to the surface. It was as if an entire year's worth of turmoil from the power struggles between the two combined in to one big giant ball until…

A big flash of green light burst out of Elizabeth!

"Aaaaaahhhh!" She screamed out in pain as tears ran down her face and blood oozed out her nostrils and ears.

The light shot upwards in to the sky and created a ring around Mako Island which then pulsed outward like a mushroom cloud!

Every missile disintegrated!

All the merpeople from the moon pool, as well as Joshua and Charlotte, had walked out along the sea ground while the water remained split apart, and they all witnessed the surge of power that coursed off of Elizabeths' body.

Veridia and Shar were especially speechless as they stared on with widened eyes of shock.

Gradually, the light faded away, and Elizabeth fell to her knees.

"Oh no…" Joshua ran over to her, but the waters were already beginning to collapse all around them!

Grabbed by a merman, he was swum up above the waves as they came crashing down on everyone.

"Elizabeth!" He shouted as he outstretched his arms.

He watched as the ocean waters engulfed her!

Unbeknownst to him, Elizabeth transformed in to her mermaid form and was already swimming towards the surface.

She broke through and loudly gasped as she flung back her wet hair, then swam towards him.

"Oh thank god!" He exclaimed while holding her close as they bobbed up and down in the waves.

"Come on," a merman urged as he and his companion took hold of the two and brought them back in to the moon pool.

Helped out of the water, Elizabeth wrapped her arms around Joshua and cried in to his chest.

"Hey, hey, it's alright; you're safe now," he reassured her as he rocked her back and forth. "Everything's going to be alright now."

All the merpeople pulled themselves out of the moon pool, and Charlotte, standing nearby, wrung the water out of her hair as she observed the heartfelt reunion. She felt her own heart melt with comfort as she watched Elizabeth come back to reality as her fiance took care of her.

Smiling, she stayed where she was until Elizabeth finally noticed her. Releasing Joshua from her embrace, she walked over to Charlotte and tightly hugged her!

"Charlotte," she simply whispered the young womans name.

Not saying a single word, Charlotte embraced her greatly missed mentor; she savored every ounce of comfort between the two of them.

"You saved Mako Island," Charlotte whispered.

Pulling out of their embrace, Charlotte wiped away her tears as she brightly smiled, then laughed.

"You saved Mako Island!" She repeated, this time with more enthusiasm. "That was amazing!"

Dried off, Veridia created legs for herself; she maintained a cover with her scales around her private regions.

"That was the most remarkable thing I've ever seen," she said. "And I've seen a lot in all my days as a mermaid. I've never thought this would ever be possible."

"There wasn't a prophecy, was there?" She asked, turning to Shar.

"No," he said to her with a look of annoyance on his face. "I don't even know why this would happen in the first place."

It was baffling and left every merperson in the room completely stupefied.

A sudden yawn took hold of Elizabeth, and a wave of lightheadedness came crashing down around her. Teetering on her feet, she felt Joshua wrap his strong arms around her waist.

"Come on, let's get you out of here and back to the hotel."

Nodding, Elizabeth walked out with Joshua and Charlotte while all the merpeople left the moon pool through the underwater entrance. Coming above and on to land, the three walked towards the shore to see that the agents were all gathered there, ready to get on to their boats to head back to the mainland.

"Agent Owens!" Charlotte called out.

The man turned around and looked at Charlotte and Joshua, then noticed Elizabeth, who wore Joshuas' jacket around her; she'd fashioned the rope from the entrance around her waist to secure it. It draped down to her knees, and made her look like a child playing pretend with their fathers' clothes.

Looking at her, Joshua giggled a little as he hugged her close to his side.

"Hey! You found her!" Owen cried out as he rushed over.

"Yeah, she was working undercover," Joshua lied.

"While wearing that?" Owen pointed at the jacket that Elizabeth wore.

"Swimsuit," she responded. "I'm cold."

"Oh…" Owen rubbed the back of his neck as blush rose up in his cheeks.

Clearing his throat, he jutted his thumb over his shoulder.

"We were just about to head back towards the mainland. The missiles were destroyed by some weird light, so we've been ordered to evacuate so a second attack can commence," he explained.

"What!? No! They can't do that!" Elizabeth exclaimed with annoyance.

Grabbing Joshuas' hand, she started running with him in tow without giving him anymore. Stumbling, Joshua struggled to catch up with her. Pulling him forward, she picked him up!

"Woah! Slow down!" He exclaimed as he wrapped his arms around her neck.

"No time," she spoke as she leaned in to the speed of her powers; she ran with the speed of a cheetah, topping out at sixty miles per hour!

"How are you not tired?" Joshua asked in surprise.

"Are you kidding? I'm fucking exhausted!" Elizabeth replied. "But we can't stop now!"

Far behind, Charlotte and Owen started walking back together with the other agents. As they walked side by side, Charlotte grinned a little as she clasped her hands together in front of her.

"So," she spoke. "Coffee was nice. I've never… had coffee before."

Cocking his right brow, Owen smirked a little. "Did the… coffee… perform well?"

Heat rising in her face as she pressed her lips tightly together, she brushed back her dark red hair, then nodded as she smiled at him.

"Yeah… really well. It was nice… the… coffee."

"Well, would you… like to have coffee again, some time soon?" Owen asked her; his voice raised a little with flirtation.

Giggling, covering her mouth as she did so, she nodded. "I'd like that."

"Then it's a date."

Reaching the shore, everyone boarded their boats and traveled back towards the mainland. Elizabeth and Joshua were already far up ahead and close to the shore of the Gold Coast. The beach was already clear of citizens as they were all ordered to go indoors to their homes. Night had fallen; the sky was beautifully dark and twinkling with stars.

Both mermen and mermaids were gathered on the beach deep in discussion as both Elizabeth and Joshua arrived; Joshua got out to pull the boat to shore to keep it in place on the sand. Grabbing Elizabeths' hand, he helped her out, and without stopping to talk, they ran past the pod of merpeople.

"Do you think we'll make it in time?" Joshua asked.

"We have to; thankfully the embassy is close by."

Away from the beach they ran until they were in the parking lot. With Joshuas' rental trashed, they resorted to hijacking another agent's vehicle to drive to the embassy where some government officials were gathered to talk over the threat of the merpeople and their home of Mako Island in which they planned to destroy in another ten minutes.

The drive thankfully wasn't difficult, as every citizen was forced indoors; the streets were deserted and left a rather eerie feel as Joshua drove down the road towards the embassy.

Arriving, he parked the car and the two hopped out; they ran across the courtyard. The flagpoles, all lined up along the way, stood tall and strong while the country flags blew in the cool summer breeze.

"Wait!" Joshua exclaimed as he skidded to an abrupt halt.

Skidding to a halt herself, Elizabeth turned. "What?"

"You can't go in there dressed like this!" He gestured to his jacket that remained on her with the rope tied around her waist to keep it closed.

Staring down at herself, the back up at him, she shot him a look of annoyance.

"I don't think there's time for a costume change, Joshua!" She snapped.

"Nobody will take you seriously like that!"

"I'm not seeing a lot of options right now!" She gestured to the massive courtyard in which they stood in. "And we're not exactly near any shops, either."

"Damn it, you're right. But still, appearances are important."

"You're picking now to be professional?" She argued.

"Those are the rules for the embassy!"

"When have I ever listened to the rules?" She pointed out.

Opening his mouth to speak, he stopped, then shook his head. "Let's go."

They ran inside.

Barging in, they were noticed by half a dozen security guards who immediately drew their weapons on the couple!

"Woah!" Joshua exclaimed. "Stand down; we're federal agents."

Reaching in to his back pocket, he showed them his CIA badge. Unfortunately, Elizabeth was without her credentials, but her unique feline appearance of jet black hair with the darkest tint of blue and her chartreuse green eyes were a dead giveaway.

Security let them pass, and they maintained their course to the conference room where the diplomats and politicians were gathered.

Drawing near, Elizabeth tuned in to her heightened hearing powers to listen in.

"They're preparing to launch," she announced to Joshua.

"Not for long."

Rushing ahead of her, he shoved the doors wide open!

They loudly banged against the walls upon making contact with them!

"Step away from that button, now!" Elizabeth demanded as she stormed in.

In the conference room, both men and women sat around a long oval table, with the Prime Minister of Australia sitting at the head of it, and on screen in the middle of the table, were several other world leaders that she recognized.

The screen was transparent so that everyone could see each other without having to turn anything; it was holographic.

Upon hearing the strong voice of authority that entered in to the room, all eyes were on her.

Unwavering as she walked tall in to the room, she stopped once she reached the table.

"You would be committing mass genocide the moment you hit that button, Mister President," she spoke to the President of the United States.

A laugh erupted from the back of the mans' throat. "Do you think I care? These creatures are a menace and endangerment to the entire world!"

"Are they?" She questioned. "Seems to me like they were living peacefully until someone fucked everything over… that someone being me," she said.

There was a brief silence in the room before laughter broke out from everybody!

"You!? What do you have to do with any of this?" The Prime Minister of Australia asked.

"Plenty," said Elizabeth. "I've lived among the merpeople for an entire year now and they have stayed far away from the world. It's my fault that they were exposed."

"How? You're not a mermaid," he pointed out.

Smirking a little, she cocked her brow.

"I beg to differ."

Instantly, she transformed!

Leaning forward against the table to prevent falling on to the floor, she revealed her black seashells and green tail.

Gasps of shock erupted in the room and the nearest leaders backed away from Elizabeth.

Glaring up at the President of the United States, she smirked a little.

"Still wanna nuke them?" She asked with a hint of arrogance in her voice.

Transforming back in to her human appearance, she retained her previous attire of Joshuas' jacket and the rope around her waist to keep it closed.

"Yes," said The President. "One of them burned people alive."

"Can you blame him for defending himself when people provoked him?"

"W- well… yes! It's criminal!"

"Self-defense, but go off, Chief," she commented with a tone of loftiness.

Leaning in close to the holographic image, she narrowed her eyes ever so slightly as she gave off an intimidating stare.

"You wouldn't endanger the lives of my people, the men with powers, would you?"

"No," he responded.

She tilted her head a little. "So what makes merpeople any different?"

"They're aliens," he argued. "That makes them dangerous to humans."

"As I recall, I'm not human either, and neither is any member of IDA…"

Trailing off, a thought popped in to her head that caused her to grin a little. She turned her attention to President Edson, who was also on screen. Smirking a little, she looked back at The President of the United States, straightened up her stance, then clasped her hands in front of her.

"Effective immediately, I, Agent Elizabeth Jane Striker, do hereby declare that all merpeople are to be protected under the governmental laws of The International Detective Agency. I also wish, with President Edsons' permission, to change the name of our agency from The International Detective Agency, to The International Abilities Agency."

"This is ridiculous!" Mr. President exclaimed with annoyance, then from over the holograph, looked at President Edson. "She can't do that!"

"Actually, she can," President Edson said. "She was never officially stripped of her title of Head Agent due to her year long sabbatical. She still holds the power of authority."

"This is completely asinine! They're dangerous!"

"No more dangerous than anyone in the human world," Elizabeth pointed out.

Looking to Joshua, she encouraged him to approach, and so he did.

"About a year ago, a CIA agent by the name of Gregory Watsford joined us in the investigation of missing mermaids, only for him to end up turning rogue. He captured them to experiment on them for his own selfish purposes and to make a profit from them."

"A Doctor Linda Denman also attempted to study mermaids a couple of years back," said Elizabeth.

As they recapped all of the events that humans have done to damage merpeople, President Edson pulled up the official statements from the past few investigations that the couple made; Gregory Watsfords information was on the screen as was Linda Denmans.

"Two people, Sophie Benjamin and Ryan Tate also attempted to make a profit off of the merpeople by stealing the crystals from their home."

Pictures from their investigation of the moon pools' destruction and its weapon were also displayed by President Edson.

"So tell me again how merpeople are more dangerous than humans?" Elizabeth questioned after all the images gathered on screen for every world leader to witness.

"You touch them with any sort of threat, and I will personally see to it that a lawsuit is slapped on to you so hard, your face will hurt for months," she spoke; her voice was tense with authority.

Mr. President backed up from his screen.

"So… still want to press that button?" She asked him.

His hand hovered above the big red button on his desk. Sighing, he closed the lid over it and locked it, then glared at her.

"You'll be the death of me one day, won't you, Miss. Striker?" He asked her with a sigh of defeat.

"Probably," she replied. "Oh…"

She looked over to Joshua and brightly smiled at him, then looked back at the officials in the room and on screen.

"And by the way… in the future, you will refer to me as Mrs. or Agent Reynolds."

Smiling, Joshua felt his heart thump hard against his chest as his fiancee looked at him again.

"I've got a wedding to prepare for."
