MPK: The rest of the story shall be in the third person aka the Narrator's POV unless specified in the future~
Have a good day.
"Sir Hunter, I have the Princess's breakfast. Will she eat today?"
A frown formed upon Hunter Steel's face. "To be honest, I don't think so. Maybe if I try again today, maybe."
"Very well then sir. Bless the future Queen." Hunter took the tray from the female servant.
"Hey! You don't know that she will be, so don't say that." He scolded before she bowed and left.
Hunter stood in front of the large double doors with a tray of food in his hands. He took a big sigh, "I had known that if she had ever come back that things would be different, that she would be different. But, how are things supposed to get better? Especially when she doesn't seem to want to fix the problem?" He grimaced, "I may be here to serve you, but I'm also here to help you know..."
"What's the problem, Hunter? The Princess doing alright?"
"If you call not eating, not speaking, and not moving all day, then she's in great health..." Hunter sarcastically complained. After realizing he had not answered himself, and that someone was actually talking to him, he looked to his left. In shock, Hunter threw upward the tray of food and drink. "AH! Master Niall!"
"Hey!" With a small spell and the wave of his hand, Niall froze time around the tray and its items. The spillings reversed themselves and the tray was once again nice and neat, with all the items back in place. "Be more careful!"
"I apologize!" Hunter didn't hesitate to drop down on one knee. Placing his right wrist on his chest he bowed respectfully to the knight. "I was just surprised. I'm glad you've finally recovered, Master Niall."
"What have I told you about calling me, Master?" Niall glared.
"Sir Niall, then."
It was Niall's turn to sigh, "At ease, Hunter." Hunter stood up quickly and retrieved the tray from floating in the air.
"I hadn't expected you to be up and walking around yet, Sir. How are you feeling? How is your memory?"
"The truth is finally starting to come back to me. I remember, my real home and stuff if that's what you mean. Little things like spells and different days of training are slowly coming back, especially when I enter the training hall. I guess I just have to give it time."
"Wait you're training again already!?" Hunter exclaimed, "You've just been reawakened! You really should be in~"
"I'm knight number one now, Hunter," Niall said. Hunter closed his mouth. "It's now my responsibility to personally oversee the Princess's safety. I'm the closest person to her. I have to be ready at all times."
"I see." Hunter muttered quietly, "You know then...about the previous knight's disappearance..."
"We'll come back to the topic of my predecessor at a later date," Niall says dismissively. "Right now what's more important is the well being of the Princess. Come on." Niall hesitates on the door handle. "Is she...She's doing that bad?"
"You can only see for yourself." Hunter nudges him forward, and Niall opens the door. The huge bedroom was silent. They almost thought that the room was empty until they noticed the tan female leaning back against the footboard of the rose-colored canopy bed. Corrine was on the floor with her arms sprawled out beside her, completely stationary. She stared blankly at the large bookshelf in the direction she was facing.
"I almost didn't recognize her," Niall muttered staring at the woman in disbelief. "She looks...so dead..."
"She's been like this since you were sent to recovery. It's nothing new to me." Hunter whispered back. "Wow, you literally look like you're waiting for death on that floor," Hunter told Corrine as he passed by her. He sat the tray on the nearby table. "You have a visitor, Your Highness."
"Tell them to go away. You too." She hadn't even tried to make eye contact.
Niall stared at Corrine worriedly. When she didn't respond to him clearing his throat, Niall stepped around the bed to stand in front of her and spoke, "Oh come on, it's been 2 weeks in anime world and you're still here? If it were me, I woulda been left this joint! Ya feel me?" Niall held in a cough after speaking in his old tone of voice. Corrine's head jerked up to meet his stare. "Hi, Princess~"
"Treyvon!" Corrine jumped up quickly starting to hug the boy. She froze in place, "Wait. It's a trick, isn't it? It's not really you."
"It is me. But my name is Niall, Your Highness. Niall Casterwill." He told her.
"You're taller..." She sat down on the edge of the bed noticing the boy's height had surpassed her own when standing up, ever so slightly. Niall wore an Egyptian outfit decked out in gold rings and wore a white cape, something like "He" would wear. His black locks had grown much longer. Not merely as long as his brother's was, but medium length.
"I've been aged according to the years I've missed in my homeland. That's why I wasn't growing at all in the Realm of the Real. Now my body matches my age. It'll never match my intellect though, that's for sure. Heh heh!"
"And your voice..." Niall's voice had gained a little bass. It wasn't too different from normal, but it was noticeable if you'd heard him speak before.
"Like it? I finally hit puberty alright! Not so sQuEaky now~oh my gosh!" Niall covered his mouth when his voice cracked. Corrine cracked a smile. "Okay, I guess I'm not safe from the voice cracks huh? Whatever whatever. Haha." Niall sat down next to her. "Lindo has been really busy since he was let out of recovery. Right now, I'm sure he's getting our subordinates' duties in order, but I'm sure he'll come to visit you soon."
"And Tyler...is suppose to be this...Lindo."
"That's right. Lindo Casterwill, your eighth knight."
Corrine couldn't believe it, none of it. She leaned against the bed, a hand to her forehead. "You were taken away..."
"To recover. My lost memories. That's all." Corrine wasn't convinced. Niall took a necklace he was wearing out of his shirt. He gripped the emerald gem, showing it to her. "Most likely you don't remember, but all your knights had one of these. Look familiar to anything?" Corrine glanced down at her own. "Yup! It's a Realix, just like yours. Of course, yours hold more power but as a Knight of Animania, it's our job to use these to protect you and the universe you were meant to rule. So I guess you can say we're the defenders of the universe, lol."
"Did you just say lol?"
"I did. No regrets."
Corrine looked to the side. "You are...so far gone, Treyvon. She whispered. You've been completely brainwashed." She whispered.
"I haven't been brainwashed, your highness. I've remembered the truth, as contradictory as that may sound." Niall looked at Corrine worriedly. "I thought you were well past this stage by now. You haven't remembered anything, have you?"
"I thought she was as well, Sir. But the Princess still has her doubts." Hunter cut in. "She still doesn't believe this is her home."
Niall's worried expression moved to Hunter, "Have you tried to show her around the castle? Maybe a tour of the kingdom could spark~"
"I've thought of that already Niall. But the Princess just won't go. She won't leave this room." Niall pinched the bridge of his nose.
"You want to kidnap me. And brainwash me as much as you've brainwashed him. I won't have it." Suddenly a frustrated look grew on Hunter's face. The both of them could see the pain in Hunter's eyes.
Niall, sensing how upset his friend was, thought it was best if he should handle Corrine alone. "Hunter, you're done for today. Go home and get some rest."
Hunter immediately turned to the door, opening it. "If anyone here is brainwashed, it's you, Your Highness." Hunter said before walking out.
"Hunter." Niall stopped him, "Don't talk back to the Princess."
"Yes, sir." He quickly shut the door behind him. You could hear his footsteps as he ran down the corridor.
Niall sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose once more. For Corrine, it was weird to see Niall looking more like his age. "You just love to be hard headed don't you?" He asked. "The proof is in front of you, why don't you believe us?"
"Just because this place is real, doesn't mean I belong here, that WE belong here." Corrine told him, "God. Am I the only one left with a sane mind here?"
"What's your first memory?"
Corrine was taken aback by his question. "What?"
"What's your first memory?" He repeated. "The last thing you remember from the past. It's probably something from the Realm of the Real right? Tell me what it is." For some reason, it was hard for Corrine. "Well? I'm waiting."
'Hey...are you alright?...look at me...Princess!...'
'What are you talking about? This is your family.'
'We'll protect you no matter what okay, sister?'
Corrine shook her head. "No one remembers something like that."
"You're lying." Niall looked at her with serious eyes. "As your knight number one I can tell when you're lying. Besides, I know you. I'm the closest to you remember?" Corrine gulped, "I saw it. You had an answer."
Corrine sighed. "I remember...Kai."
"Kai?"
"Meeting him. The day we met." Corrine frowned, "And when he brought me home, to the Casterwills. You all told me I was your family, but...I...couldn't remember them. Or any one of you being my family..."
Niall closed his eyes for a moment, "As much as I hate to say this, you need to hear it." Niall sincerely stares into her eyes. "I'll only say it once. But we aren't. We aren't your real family. Lindo and I aren't actually your brothers. And our parents weren't your real parents." Corrine was in extreme shock. For Niall to admit something like that, she didn't know that he could. "You're the daughter of the Queen of Realms, the woman who rules over every realm in existence. And the former King of Realms. You are the Princess of Realms." Corrine looked almost afraid of Niall. "It's the truth, I swear! I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true! Corrine moved away from him, standing up. Niall was quick to move behind her. "I would never lie to you, Corrine. I'm not allowed to!" He could see Corrine visibly cringing. "Corrine, look at me. Corrine look at me!" He shouted gripping her arm to face him. "Regardless of my name, I'm still me. I'm still the smartest 'youngin' in the world, heh." Niall nervously tried to joke, "And regardless of your name, your memories, or your birthplace, you're still you." Tears welled up in Corrine's eyes, breaking Niall's heart.
"Ugh! I'm not allowed to do this but~!" Niall gritted his teeth and held Corrine's cheeks in his hands, "You see me as the little brother you've never had, and I'm fine with that. If it's easier for you, I'll become that little boy you're so used to being around. I'll act like Treyvon again, just for you. I'll be your little brother again!" His eyes began to give off a green glow. He forcefully pressed Corrine's forehead against his own, closing his eyes. "This is going against the Queen's orders, but please! See the truth, through my eyes!"
Minutes passed. On the outside, it looked like the two were just standing together in silence. On the inside, however, an inferno of knowledge was coursing throughout Corrine's body. Niall's memories were triggering some of her own. Corrine was being forced to relive as much as Niall remembered in a matter of seconds. Both their minds were racing, their hearts beating miles a minute. And then the process abruptly ended. Corrine leaned back quickly gasping for air, almost as if she had been drowning. She had been, after all, drowning in memories.
"It didn't work like I wanted to. It's because I'm rusty I guess." Niall muttered solemnly. He stabled Corrine against him as she grew tired from the mind's link they had shared. "But I hope that much can help you." He hugged Corrine to his chest. "It really hurts, to see you in pain like this. Princess." Corrine mumbled weakly.
"N-Niall?"
"Yes?"
"Corrine...isn't even my real name...is it?"
"No. It's not."
"T-This is wrong. This is all wrong." The male hugged her closer.
"Remembering things like that will come with time Corrine. You have to trust me. Until then, we have to hide the rest of what we know. It's the rule." Corrine wearily started to black out. "I know it's hard not being able to remember the truth. If it wasn't for my Realix, I'd be the same as you right now. But I'm thankful I'm not because now I'm in the position to help you. Help you get your memories back. Your real ones." Niall put his arm around Corrine's waist when she finally passed out in his arms. "And I think, I know where we have to start."
Niall pulled his other arm away. With two fingers, he quickly drew the shape of a diamond in the air. Suddenly a violent gust of wind hit the two of them in the face, but Niall was unphased. A huge blue voided space opened up in front of them, a diamond-shaped portal. "We have to go back to the place that started it all."
A portal, to Yugioh.
Corrine wearily awoke to the sight of Niall's face hovering above her. The black haired teen had propped her head on his knees, holding her body in his arms. For a few moments, neither one of them spoke to each other. Niall gazed into the Princess's blue eyes cautiously, waiting for her to speak first. He didn't know how to proceed until the girl gave him something to go on. Did she remember? Was she still in denial? Or was he finally in the clear?
"...Niall." The boy sighed in relief. His most recent action had not gone to waste.
"I'm here your highness." He responded.
"Call me Corrine. If you wish for me to call you Niall, you will call me as Corrine. No formalities." She said.
"Sounds like a plan, your~I mean Corrine. Hehe." Corrine lightly glared up at him.
"I've always seen you as a brother. Is it really that naive of me to still address you as such?"
"I don't think so. I mean, our roles in the Realm of the Real didn't exactly bother me. There's not much of a difference besides a name change." Niall told her, "Either way I'm able to protect you. So do as you wish, Princess."
"Then let's go back to being that way. The siblings that we are used to being."
"Agreed. Except I go by Niall now~Ow." Niall held his forehead after Corrine flicked him.
"I got it okay?" Her smile was light but genuine. She sat up slowly holding her own forehead. "Ugh."
"Easy." Niall cooed.
"Niall, where are we~?"
"AND I'M GONNA STOP YOU THERE."
"What? Why?"
"Becauseeeee I...may...not...know where we are." He confessed.
"Huh?"
"Yeah um...let's just say, you're back home!" Niall grinned. He then sweatdropped under Corrine's gaze. "Look all I know is we're back in Yugioh. But...I think we're in the wrong time period..."
"Hold on," Corrine stopped him, "We're back in Yugioh!?"
"Yes. It looks like we're back in your old room too."
"It does. Doesn't it?" She looked around. "Why on earth would you bring me back here?"
"The Yugioh realm is the best place to recover your memories. I thought it would be best if you returned here, and picked up where the story left off. Perhaps if you play along, you'll gain some old missing memories along the way. This place is an important key to your past." Niall insisted, "The realm is your chosen home after all."
"My chosen home?" Corrine stood up and looked out the window.
"Yes. My intention was to take you to the Season 1 era, but it seems we're actually exactly where we left off. In Season 0, before we jumped through that portal..." Niall seems to glare out into the distance, "This is bad. My former self seemed to notice this before, but there's a huge rift open in this timeline." Feeling Corrine's stare, he closed his eyes. "I don't have time to explain, but long story short, we're at the very end of season 0 and its timeline is about to repeat itself. If we stay here much longer well be caught in its rewind and we could end up changing the main story more than we already have."
"I've got to get us out of here. But I'm still rusty. If I mess up, we could be stuck here. For a lonnng time." Corrine grimaced.
"Then don't mess up."
"Easy for you to say!" Niall immediately snapped back. Sparks generated between Niall's fingers as he messed with them.
Corrine gasped at the Wizard of Oz like tornado picking up speed out side. "Niall! Outside is~"
"Big, dark, spinney funnel of doom? Yeah blame the rift." Niall wasn't paying it much attention as he tried to focus. "That's the rewind." The giant windstorm began to suck everything in it's path, heading in their direction.
"Niall~"
"I know. I'm trying to think." He told Corrine while in thought. "What can I do..."
Corrine watched the nearby streetlight get devoured. "Niall!"
"Working on it~!" Corrine grabbed the boy by the collar.
"Niall for fate's sake! Do something! Teleport us anywhere but here!" Niall frowned then gave a her devilish grin, relishing in the sudden epiphany he just had.
"Okay, Princess." The storm tore apart the game shop sign outside. "You're a genius. I'll just let fate decide!" Niall's eyes held a green glow once more.
"Oh mighty muse of fate hear my cry"
"WHAT!? AHHHHH!" Corrine screamed as the roof of the game shop ripped off. She held on helplessly to the young mage.
"Let your sacred wisdom be my guide"
"NIALL!" The storm started to gobble up the area in its wake. However, Niall only embraced its winds. He hugged Corrine for reassurance.
"Take us to where it all began
Let us fall where we must by destiny's hand"
"Yugioh season 1~!" A diamond portal opened around the two. And they disappeared within it.
"Ow~"
"Ugh..."
"Where even are we?"
"Dunno." Corrine heard Niall mutter in the darkness, "But can you get your foot out of my face? It's partially why I can't see anything."
"I'll move when you move your foot out of my stomach." She hears the boy sigh and felt him move his leg over. She did the same.
"Geez, it smells like straight perfume in here!" Niall coughed.
"You have no idea where we are do you?"
"Lumos!" He carefully called out. A mini ball of light gravitated above his hand. He tapped his wrist, a small blue screen erupted from it. "Actually, I do. It looks like I'm a great man, because we're exactly where I wanted to end up."
Corrine looked up, "In a closet? Really? I knew something was brushing against my head." She unhooked her hair from a loose wire hanger and backed away from the row of hanging shirts.
"Yeah, I dunno whose closet this is. BUT!" Niall shouted, "We're here! Yugioh Season 1! HAHA! I knew I can do it! AHAHAHAHA!" Corrine started to open the closet door to get away from the loud child. At the same time, Niall's wrist screen beeped. He pulled her back in and doused the light in his hand. "Shh! Someone's coming!"
Barking could be heard entering the room. "A dog?"
"A golden retriever it looks like..." Niall whispered. The two cautiously peeked through the slits in the closet doors.
"Settle down Lulu~!" A girl suddenly entered the room with a golden retriever puppy. "I know you're as excited about this project as I am, hehe!" She wore light colored jeans, white sneakers, and an oversized black hoodie. The hood was over her head, so they couldn't see her face. "Fine. I'll let you hang around in here while I finally finishing this up. But you have to promise me that you'll be on your best behavior, understand!?" The girl pointed down at the dog dramatically and and the dog barked back at her in return. "Good boi hehe."
"Awh. How precious~"
"Hush Niall."
The girl sat down at her desk. She laid down the steaming bowl of ramen she had brought inside with her in order to pick up her puppy and lay him in her lap. "I can believe father smashed this thing to pieces. What was he thinking!?" She stroked the dog's fur. "This is a 5000 year old artifact. Maybe even older!" Suddenly she lifted what looked like a rose colored glass shard towards the light of her window. "You know, I had no hope for this thing. Until a couple of the pieces started sticking together. I guess their magnetic. Either that or it's magic! I'm hoping for the latter though. Can you imagine it!? This used to belong to some young Egyptian princess from the past, and now its been left in my hands. Only to be almost destroyed by an angry dad, who doesn't care about anyone but himself." Lulu nuzzled against the girl's chest. She took a slurp of ramen. "Luckily the pieces didn't shatter too much. After years of trying to put this thing back together properly, it's almost done. Now let's see..." She picked up her tweezers and started placing pieces of shard into something on the desk.
"You figure out what she's talking about yet?"
"Nope. I can't see anything from down here. I'm gonna stand up." Niall slowly bent his knees and stood. His eyes widened. "Uh Corrine, I think you wanna see this." Corrine gasped upon rising. "Look familiar to anything?"
"That's almost...an exact replica of my Realix!" She whisper-shouted. "Is it a guardian's necklace?" Corrine asked.
"Nope."
"Are you sure? Is it not one that's stolen or something?"
Niall glared at the gem in its harden case. "I've never seen one like that. It's all...pink."
"If this wasn't for Grandma's help, none of this would be possible. Just one more..." The piece slipped into place. "And BAM! I knew I could do it! Phew~" She let her hood down and the two stalkers gasped in unison. "Roxanna triumphs again! She shoots, she scores!" She makes a dunking motion with her arms. "See Lulu?" She carefully picked up the necklace by its core. Corrine could finally see the necklace its entirety. "I finally I did it! I ACTUALLY DID IT! They said it was impossible! He said it was impossible! But did I give up? Nope! I'm so damn great!" Corrine didn't know what to react to first, the shimmering gemstone or the mysterious doppelganger who had put it together.
She didn't have time to however. The moment the girl place the necklace around her neck, it gave off an extreme glow, her own necklace doing the same in a chain reaction. The girl stood up suddenly upon being blinded, the golden retriever jumping off her lap. "Oh crap! Lulu, what's going on!? I feel...weird~Ahh!" Suddenly Corrine disappeared from the closet.
"AH! Corrine!?" Niall busted through the closet doors. "OH SHIT!" He was blinded the sudden burst of light engulfing the entire area.
"It has...begun."
"Dammit that's bright!" The light simmered down slightly. "Oh man. Okay...This is new..." He muttered when he could finally see. "...Corrine? Is that you?"
Standing where the girl once was, Corrine slowly opened her eyes. "Huh? What the heck just~?" Corrine clutches her Realix.
"We're not alone either." Niall's eyes glowed as he stood back to back against her. He raised his arms in a defensive position. "And I'm not talking about the dog." (MPK: Cue the back to back camera pan lol, I'll stop!)
Niall was astounded by the creatures of all sizes and shapes that surrounded them. "Look at all these Duel Monsters! No! Duel Spirits!" He used an energy shield to block an attack from an evil looking Kuriboh. "And they're angry!"
"They're everywhere...Hhh~!" Corrine glanced around at all the spirits, noticing the large bright voided space there where in. Her breath caught and her heart seemed to beat miles a minute, when her gaze was directed back in front of her. Standing what looked like a couple of feet away, a tri-colored, spiky haired male glared right into her sky blue colored eyes. The eye of Horus shined bright upon his forehead. "...Yami?"
Niall peeped from behind her, "It is him! Long time no see my brutha!"
"I don't think he can hear you Niall." Corrine told him. Suddenly the monsters start becoming agitated and move toward Yami. "Ahh! Look out!"
The Pharaoh gripped the millennium puzzle in one hand, and thrusted out his other. A golden force field appeared around him. "Shadow creatures, begone! I command you!" He yelled in a soft, yet deep voice. "Return to the dark realm from whence you came!" The monster suddenly dissolve and the golden light engulfs the entire area, blinding them once more. And just like that, things were back to how they were before.
Well, almost.
Niall picked himself up from the bed he had fallen back on. "Ugh, my head." He groaned. "Corrine? You still there?"
"Yeah. Why do you ask?"
"Do you not just realized what happened here?! You just transformed! You became a Yami just now! Look at you, you look like a spirit!" Niall tells the woman excitedly. "You've just experienced the very beginning of Yugioh!"
"And Yugioh is?"
"Whaddya mean!? Yugioh, the show about card games! Yugioh Duel Monsters!"
"And you are?"
Niall realizes the girl had been asking these questions, "Excuse me ma'am. Don't be alarmed~"
"I'm not alarmed. I'm just used to two random strangers appearing in my bedroom after the conundrum of a light show that just erupted from my new necklace."
"Really? This happens often?" She had sounded so convincing.
"OF COURSE NOT!...Hooooly crap~!" The girl mutters staring down at the newly formed necklace, "It's appearance totally changed."
"It's like both of your necklaces fused together. That's so cool!" The diamond part of the necklace was cut right down the middle. The left side pink, the right side blue. Niall was way too excited.
"Okay! I give up, who are you? And whose Corrine!?" The girl says backing up.
Corrine turned to her, "Whose Corrine? Rather who are you?"
"AND WHY DO YOU LOOK LIKE ME!?" The two shouted in unison. "HEY DON'T START. STOP COPYING ME!" They glared at each other.
"We have a saying, us guardians." Niall solemnly says. The two girls look down at him. "Anything is possible outside the Realm of the Real...Oof. This is gonna take a while..."
