Prologue
In the city of Shinjuku, life goes on as normal for the people who live there, with adults going to work and children going to school.
But not so long ago, normality changed for those lived there.
Over a year ago the people of city and the world learned that creatures once thought to be fictional were in fact real; creatures known as Digimon.
Short for Digital Monsters, they were popular with children who watched them on TV, played with them as toys, video games and a popular card game. However, a few lucky kids learned that Digimon were in fact real.
Appearing from the Digital World by bio-merging into the human world, the Digimon sought other Digimon to battle. A win allowed them to absorb the other creature's data.
Sometimes Digimon sought out human children who helped them evolve into bigger and stronger forms, a process known as Digivolving. These children are known as Digimon Tamers. In the City of Shinjuku are Three Tamers who work their Partner Digimon.
First is Takato Matsuki, a 13 year-old boy who created his own Digimon when he was 12 after finding a device called a D-Ark. His Digimon is Gulimon, a red dinosaur about the size of a small child with black markings and a white stomach.
At first, Takato had trouble controlling Gulimon due to his personality and inexperience whenever Gulimon would digivolve. But the two have learned to work together since then after many experiences.
The second tamer is Henry Wong, a boy of Chinese and Japanese descent and the same age as Takato. He is intelligent and gifted for his Age. His partner is Terriermon, a white bunny like Digimon with green stripes and a horn on his head.
Henry was cautious about fighting other Digimon at first after seeing Terriermon fight another Digimon in a video game which
made him believe it was his fault. Later he learned sometimes fighting was the only way to protect those he cared for when new dangers appeared.
The third tamer is Rika Nonaka a 14 year-old girl who is an expert on the Digimon Card. Her partner is Renamon, a yellow fox-like Digimon with white paws and purple gloves on her hands.
Rika and Renamon would fight any Digimon that appeared in the real world in order to become stronger. They even tried to fight Takato and Henry.
At first, Rika believed that Digimon were only bits of data that had no feelings, but later she learned they do indeed feel and think after her life was in danger. Since then, she has changed from her cold ways to someone who trusts her partner and friends.
The three tamers have battled many Digimon both in the real world and in the digital world alongside their friends who also became Tamers. Among those were Kazu Shiota and Kenta Kitagawa, Takato's friends who, like him, were fans of Digimon and have their own partners, Guardromon and MarineAngemon. And Henry's sister, Suzie Wong, has a partner named Lopmon, who looks like Terriermon but is dark colored with three horns.
Jeri Kato is a female classmate of Takato's who had her own partner called Leomon, but he was destroyed in the digital world. She was devastated by this and later was captured by a computer program called the D-Reaper who used her voice and knowledge to destroy both Earth and the Digital World. Fortunately, the Tamers saved her and she has since recovered.
The last Tamer is Ryo Akiyama who like Rika is an expert card player at the game, and once beat her in a Digimon Tournament. His partner is Monodramon who has fought alongside him in both worlds and helped during the D-Reaper's crisis.
But Ryo has a secret that only he and Monodramon know, a secret about be known to his friends, something that will change their lives and send them on a new adventure to a new world.
