AN: Heyo! Yes, I'm writing another Henry Danger/Supernatural fic. I do not own these properties, and no, I'm not ashamed of my Ray/Mary pairing. They're SOOOOO CUTE TOGETHER!
Ray had been whistling at work for the past two weeks, and the Danger Force was trying to figure out why. He'd been in a good mood for training, he wasn't yelling as often, and he complimented Chapa on her aggressive takedown of a criminal last night.
"What's got him acting so weird?" Miles asked the rest of the group.
"I don't know, but I'm not about to jinx it," Mika said, sitting in her chair, waiting for Ray to come in.
"Same," Chapa replied, looking at the others. Just then, Ray came through the closet door into the Swellview Academy classroom.
"Morning, heroes!" he said cheerfully. "Now, let's get these desks stashed away, and start our training for today." The four children hurried to the side of the classroom into their respective spots and Ray pressed the button to convert the classroom into a training area. "All right, now, let's get into teams of two. I think you'll like this. It requires some teamwork and using your brains."
"Not a problem, Ray!" Bose replied, grinning and tapping his head. The others groaned.
"Anyray, I managed to use MY head for once, and came up with a scavenger hunt for today. HOWEVER, there are some rules we need to go over before we can begin." Danger Force was excited. Ray never did these types of things.
"Anything!" Mika practically shouted, her competitive streak coming through.
"Whatever you ask, boss."
"Yeah!" Chapa pumped her fist in the air.
"First, the end of the hunt is not the end of the training. Second, no cheating. Third, all the clues will lead towards a villain. You must give me the name of the villain and tell me how you would deal with capturing the villain and give me your best villain banter. Fourth, this will take you outside of the school, so you will have to change into your superhero suits." Each of them rushed to grab their bubblegum and began aggressively chewing. After the transformation, they split up. Mika ended up with Bose while Chapa and Miles teamed up.
Ray, now suited up as Captain Man, held up two envelopes. "You ready for this?"
The sudden sound of beating wings startled the whole group. Everyone jumped in fear at the person standing in front of them. Bose ended up in Mika's arms, and Chapa hid behind Miles.
"GAH!" Ray exclaimed, freaked out at first. When he saw who it was, he relaxed. "Hi, Cass," he said sardonically.
"Captain Man, you know who this is?" Mika asked incredulously. The man was taller than Ray and wore a tan trench coat with no facial expression. He looked puzzled for only a moment until he saw Ray.
"Ray, you're needed."
"Cass, I'm going to need a little more context. What's wrong? Are Sam and Dean—is Mary okay?" he questioned the angel, gripping his arms tighter than he probably should have. Cass stared at him then shook him off. Ray looked apologetic. "Sorry, sorry, I just— she was fine when we hung up yesterday."
Danger Force was completely baffled. Who were any of those people?
"Captain Man, what's going on?"
Ray turned towards Chapa. "Obviously, I don't know yet. Why else would I be asking Cass questions?"
"But—but who is he?"
"Castiel, angel of heaven, friend of the Winchesters." Cass held out his hand to Mika, who had asked the question. She shook his hand slowly, still not understanding.
"Shoutout, Danger Force, friend of Captain Man's?" she got out. "Angel? Is that a superpower?"
"In a sense. I'm from Heaven." The whole team just stared at him, then fixed their gaze on Captain Man. He bit his lower lip. He hadn't told them about any of what had happened on his vacation.
"So remember that vacation I took like 2 weeks ago?" The team kept staring at him. He sighed. "Okay, well, I ended up in a situation where I needed help from some people I met while I was there. Cass was one of them. The others are the Winchesters. I told them to let me know if they ever needed me; I just wasn't expecting them to send the angel." Ray eyed Castiel. "So, care to tell me any more about what's going on? Why did they send you to me?"
"Sam and Dean have gone missing, and Mary needs your help to find them." Ray's heart beat a little faster at that. She needed him.
"Okay, I can do that."
The Danger Force surrounded Ray. "Captain Man, what about our training? You were gone for vacation less than 2 weeks ago. What if you need us?" He looked at his group, his band of superheroes-in-training, each of them growing in ways that he never would have thought of. They were his kids, in a way.
"Listen, I promise we'll do the scavenger hunt when I get back. I really need to help my friend find her sons." When the Danger Force heard that, they nodded in understanding. Ray did have a soft spot for kids. He acted like a child at times, but they knew that he would always help in whatever way he could if possible. "And hey, if I need any of you, I will call back to the Man's Nest and let you know. Please keep your watches ready and charged. Also, plug in the guns before you leave. I'll let Schwoz know what's going on."
"Well, it IS close to Easter. We could just say it's Easter break," Mika offered.
"That is an excellent cover; thank you, Shoutout. Class dismissed. But keep your watches on," Ray reminded them. They promised to keep them on, and Ray gave them a smile before placing his hand on Castiel's shoulder. In the blink of an eye, both men were gone. The kids were still dumbfounded.
Cass and Ray were instantly in the bunker, with Mary pacing the floor, thinking about what had happened. When she saw them, she ran to Ray and hugged him tightly. He closed his eyes and held her. Then he realized he was still in his suit. He gently pulled her away from him and looked her in the eye.
"What happened?"
"They went on a hunt, like usual. That was a week ago. They haven't called or contacted anyone in at least 2 days. I know I can do this myself, but I don't want to, and Cass is on a different case right now. So I figured you could help me with this. I've got their last location over here; I don't know the particulars of the case, but Sam mentioned that they were going to a guy's house to 'interview' him about one of the victims. And then they were gone." She had led him to the middle table where papers were spread out and a map was laid haphazardly on the table. A book was opened to an article about shapeshifters. Ray picked it up and started to read.
"Is this what they were hunting?" he asked Mary, raising the book slightly.
"They were pretty confident that it was a shifter; I'm just not sure if the person they went to interview ended up being the shifter."
"They're pretty big guys. One shifter can take them both on?"
"See, that's where I'm getting confused. They've dealt with shifters several times before, and usually didn't have a problem with it. I don't know if there's more than one, or what the whole deal is." She bit her lower lip, scouring the papers on the desk again. "It doesn't make sense. They should have been done with this case."
Ray's face softened at her worried look. "Mary… Mary, it's okay," he said, wrapping her in his arms. "We'll find them," he assured her, cupping her face in his hands. He pecked her on the lips and hugged her again. "Wait," he replied, slowly untangling himself from her embrace. He reached into his belt and took out his bubblegum. Mary looked at him with curiosity. He stepped away from her, chewing on a piece of gum. When the bubble burst, his appearance changed back into Ray. Mary was impressed.
"I didn't know that's how you changed into your costume," she replied. Her eyebrow arched suggestively. "I'll have to remember that for later," she said slyly. Ray's grin got bigger. She stared at him again, pondering his choice of wardrobe. "We're gonna have to change your clothes though," she said. "Bright colors or Hawaiian shirts are not good for monster hunting."
"Really? Cuz this is kinda my thing." Ray motioned to his whole outfit. "Fun uncle, right? I hate wearing serious clothes. Unless I get to flirt with sexy women," he smirked. Mary rolled her eyes, smiling. "Is it working?"
"You know it is," she laughed. She sobered up as she remembered the reason for the partnership. "But we need to get our shit together to find my sons. And that means you need different clothes."
Ray nodded. "Right—Sam and Dean. Let's get ready."
