As I approach the last pillar in the judgment hall, I suddenly feel a large weight on my shoulders. I had been feeling worse and worse through this whole run. Dust was permanently attached on my hands, along with the feeling of dread after every kill. This had only been an experiment, and I knew that I could reset anytime, but Flowey would always know. He had knowledge of the resets, saves, and every kill and spare. I didn't know if anyone else knew, but I had been starting to suspect a certain skeleton.
Therefore, I was only mildly surprised when out of nowhere, Sans appeared.
heya. you've been busy, huh? so, i've got a question for ya. do you think that even the worst person, can change?. that everyone can be a good person, if they just try? heh heh heh heh... all right. well, here's a better question. do you wanna have a bad time? cause if you take another step forward... you are really not going to like what happens next... welp. sorry, old lady. this is why i never make promises.
We enter into a battle. it's a beautiful day outside. birds are singing, flowers are blooming... on days like these, kids like you... should be burning in hell.
After barely managing to dodge everything in his first attack, he says: huh. always wondered why people never use their strongest attack first.
The rest of the battle speeds by with me occasionally getting hit, but mostly dodging. Every time I try and attack, he keeps on dodging. When it's my turn the box always says: "You feel your sins crawling down your back." I don't think the text has ever resonated with me that much.
Eventually he uses his "special attack" which is just him doing nothing. He explains:
huff... puff... all right. that's it. it's time for my special attack. are you ready? here goes nothing.
yep. that's right. it's literally nothing. and it's not going to be anything, either. heh heh heh... ya get it? i know i can't beat you. one of your turns... you're just gonna kill me. so, uh. i've decided... it's not gonna be your turn. ever. i'm just gonna keep having my turn until you give up. even if it means we have to stand here until the end of time. capiche?
you'll get bored here. if you haven't gotten bored already, i mean. and then, you'll finally quit.
i know your type. you're, uh, very determined, aren't you? you'll never give up, even if there's, uh... absolutely no benefit to persevering whatsoever. if i can make that clear. no matter what, you'll just keep going. not out of any desire for good or evil... but just because you think you can. and because you "can"... ... you "have to."
but now, you've reached the end. there is nothing left for you now. so, uh, in my personal opinion... the most "determined" thing you can do here? is to, uh, completely give up, and... (yawn) do literally anything else.
He falls asleep. I slowly inch my SOUL to the FIGHT button, while dragging the box that the attacks spawn in with me. I press the FIGHT button.
heh, didja really think you would be able- I feel like I'm being taken over, an it almost seems like the attack that follows is automatic.
so... guess that's it, huh? just... don't say i didn't warn you. welp. i'm going to grillby's. papyrus, do you want anything?
The battle ends, and he turns to dust. The taken over feeling vanishes, and I yell out: WHY DID I EVER DECIDE TO DO A GENOCIDE RUN!
Suddenly, the room blackens. A lone figure that never had entered my life before appeared, although I knew who they were..
Chara... I mutter. The figure smiled. "The demon who comes when you call it's name." They said.
Don't you like being a force of destruction? Chara asked. HP. ATK. DEF. GOLD. EXP. LV. Every time a number increases, that feeling... That's me. Chara. Now. Now we have reached the absolute. There is nothing left for us here. Let us erase this pointless world, and move on to the next.
Two buttons appear before me, ERASE and DO NOT. Faintly, above the two buttons, a third stands.
TRUE RESET.
I'm confused. Chara doesn't seem to see the third button, and so I yell:
SINCE WHEN WERE YOU THE ONE IN CONTROL! IM A PACIFIST NOW!
I press the TRUE RESET button. Chara screams: NOOOOOOOO!
